This is an awesome blues pedal. You could use it for country and some rock but it is just an overdrive and not a distortion pedal. I use a MIA Strat (texas specials and 11-52 strings) with a 65 super RI. My tone is absolutely better than I could have hoped for. I have a zvex hardon, a mxr carbon copy and a dyna comp. I throw in a few other effects now and then, like my area 51 wah and a fulltone mosfet, for rock. This is definitely the best OD pedal I have ever heard. It kind of reminds me of what a tube screamer should sound like without noise and sharp ear shattering highs. It is just sounds like my clean tone only breaking up, or more :>)

Ok....I bought mine almost 5 years ago...I don't remember how I even heard about the pedal or where I first saw it...and I can't beleive I never wrote a review for it...oh well...
The pedal has 4 knobs...if it came with a manual, I've lost it...no matter...ite pretty simple to figure out...

I can't beleive someone would compare this pedal to a Danelectro...
that being said...if your looking for a heavy metal sound...look elsewhere....this pedal is about as close as yer gonna get to emulating the classic cranked overdriven tube sound...
The Tone control is the key..it can soften the harshness of humbuckers and thicken up single coils.....adjust the Solo control for just the right amount of boost and you can get to tone heaven
The drive control is very reactive as well...when turned all the way down you can get just a pinch of over drive edginess to your sound...or turn it all the way up to peel the paint off the wall...

Ok...here is where the pedal shines the most....Since I can only select 10 thats all I can give it but its worth a higher rating..
I sent it back to them because I wanted the volumn control modified slightly so that I could turn it up past 900...before it was just too loud and very sensitive...I was also having a bit of flutter in the drive pot...
I sent it to Dave and they tweeked the vol pot and replaced the drive pot and sent it all the way from new Zealand to Florida and have refused to accept payment for it!...
I know your reading this Dave!...I want to buy you guys a round of drinks ok?...if you ever get to Orlando Florida drop me a line and we'll do it!

Great pedal. It does its thing very well. Very good tone and with the pot switches capable of a little broader range. I actually use this pedal for some pretty heavy rock. With the bass and gain boost on and the solo switch this pedal can grind pretty hard.

Mainly strats and teles - singcoils. Amps range from tube to solid-state. It sits right at home with a tube amp. You can easily get a Texas strat sound with it, especially the fluid and creamy strat sounds. Whack the low E and you get that SRV thump.
Sounds good with a solid-state amp too.

Have heard about this pedal a fair bit. Was attracted by its killer looks (reminiscent of brownface Fender amps) at the store. The sound was real close to my '63 Vibroverb reissue when it's turned up.
It's definitely made for single-coils, imparting a very creamy, lively and bristling tone. One of the best pedals for single-coils I've tried. If you are looking for that Texas strat magic, you need to check this pedal out.
Am very impressed by the sound quality.

Don't even bother with the instructions on this one. There are 4 knobs - Volume, Tone, Solo and Drive. Straight out of the box this pedal sounds unbelievable. There are also 2 foot switches - one bypasses the overdrive (true bypass) and the other is either set to "blues" mode or "solo" mode which provides a healthy boost for leads. Every setting sounds great, and the Tone knob really does the job (especially great if you're playing in a room that sucks up all of the highs....just crank it from noon to 2:00 and it your tone will cut right through the mix).

My primary guitar is a 79 Strat with Kinman Woodstocks in the neck and middle and a Seymour Duncan hot rails in the bridge. I also have a Heritage hollow-body. My primary amp is a Tony Bruno Underground 30. I run my guitar through the Cream Tone, then through a Vox Wah, then through a Boss tuner and into the amp. I have the amp volume set between 11 and 2 which give a beautiful chimy clean sound at the verge of breakup when the Cream Tone is not engaged. I've been playing mainly blues/rock for close to 30 years and am currently gigging regularly. This is my first-ever gear review. I'm floored by the sound this pedal puts out - I obviously have been settling up to this point. The sound samples don't even do it justice. I even removed my Keely Compressor from the signal chain because it was blanketing some of the beautiful overdrive. The highs are clear but not glassy or harsh and the lows are punchy and full with absolutely no muddiness. Every note remains extremely articulate even when the overdrive is cranked, and chords sound fuller than I've ever heard them sound. Everything about the sound is just BIG....you can feel every note. I also use Monster gold cables, and this pedal is extremely quiet.

I play edgy blues, and various other styles....lots of improvisation. I've been playing for close to 30 years now and this pedal is the end of the tone line for me. It makes my modded TS-9 (analog man) sound like junk. With this pedal, all I think about is playing - there is no longer any distraction when it comes to tone because the tone is absolutely awesome...for the first time ever I can't imagine improving the tone. Don't know what else to say other than pick one up today and you'll be blown away too.

I've never been moved to review on this site before, but this little Kiwi-made pedal has forced my hand. For those of us on the eternal quest for better tone it is virtually a miracle.
Ease of use? A doddle. It has four knobs - volume, tone, drive and solo. Solo mode is a clean boost to the drive channel - i.e. it just gets louder. In drive mode, a blue LED comes on. In solo a red one comes on. There are two footswitches - on/off and blues/solo.

I am using various guitars, good quality Strats and Teles, mainly, through two Booker V12m hand-wired class A combos (as rare as hen's teeth - if you see one, buy it immediately, or better still alert me) which are running in stereo after my effects set-up (T-rex replica, T-rex room-mate reverb, Empress tremolo, Xotic RC Booster, TC electronic SCF chorus). Thanks to the Xotic, and the sheer unadulterated wonderfulness of those amps (I've played/owned Cornells, Cornfords, the Carr Mercury, Rambler and various Bad Cats and, believe me, the Bookers beat them all for me), I already have a pristine, warm, responsive clean sound that I doubt I will ever improve. For the first time I now have a drive sound to match, thanks to the Cream Tone. I've heard it said that it sounds like a cranked AC30 at any volume and that's not far off. Handily, it's also the sound I've been striving for for most of my adult life! The thing is that its drive sound oozes class - it's musical, it doesn't smother notes with fizz. It doesn't do metal-type distortion and it's all the better for it. My amps just needed something classy to drive the front end and this does it perfectly. I'll never buy an attenuator - I've simply no need now. It sounds superb at low levels. Turn up the volume on the pedal and it sounds better than anything I've heard in nearly 30 years of playing. Sorry if this all sounds over the top. It simply has blown me away - and I speak as one who has used dozens of overdrives. Nothing does what this does.
If I could tweak anything I'd probably increase the Solo boost a bit more - you'll need that on full to make a difference, but that's the only gripe.
Incidentally, when the moon is full I like to hit the boost switch on my T-rex Moller, placed directly before the G2D. This turns me into James Hetfield, though obviously I have to be careful the wife doesn't catch me.

I've been playing nearly 30 years, anything from punk to blues and rock. I've owned a hell of a lot of gear in that time and have suffered badly from the "What If" sickness many of us are familar with. Some of the amps I've had have been top quality - yet I've still had a nagging doubt that my sound could be better. The most telling verdict I can give you on the Cream-Tone is this: I don't have that feeling any more. I can play my guitars through that pedal and into those amps and still have a smug grin an hour later that I really do have a sound to compare with anyone's. And the best sound I've ever had.

I tried this on over 8 amps...Fender 70's pro reverb, 70's twin reverb, Orange AD30, Cornford hellcat, Fuchs ODS50, Tophat super deluxe, and a budda 30 superdrive. On all the amps, this pedal was stunning..great tones, and above that..FEEL..yes you can feel the notes..I love the blue setting and I set the switch inside to more bass and more drive. I can live on this for crunch and leads..when I want more of a good thing I kick in the red with alittle more level.
I work at a boutique music store and I try every pedal known to man. i got this for a customer who only plays clean old fenders and wanted a great Boost pedal with no rasp. I was so turned on by this pedal I bought one for myself. The pedal makes you really play better. I have a smile on my face every time I step on it..just wonderful...a 20 in my book...

Very easy to get a great sound, although the led configuration is rather counter-intuitive (light ON when bypassed!)
Whilst I appreciate the addition of the internal switches it would be nice to have them surafce mounted as they really are the key to accessing the best this pedal has to offer and the settings do need changing with different guitars/pickups, etc.

This is the first OD pedal I've tried that actually sounds very close to real tube amp being cranked. Most other ODs attempt this, or just copy a tubescreamer, but the Cream-Tone really does achieve it. I have a number of low-to-medium (6-22W)output fender valve amps at hand to compare it to and it never ceases to impress in that respect.
The one thing it doesn't reproduce quite so perfectly is the response you get when turning down the vol control on your guitar - whilst its response is still far more realistic than other ODs, it still doesn't have the exact same 'realness' of a guitar straight into an amp but I don't honestly think any pedal could ever achieve that completely.
I usually play a strat and have the internal switches set to bass-high and drive-low for what I consider to be the most transparent sound.
I like the boost function, especially the fact that it is a volume, rather than a volume+drive boost, although there is also a slight increase in the upper mids when engaged which I would rather do without. However, it is more effective in a band mix this way.
My only complaint about the boost is that I would like there to be more of a volume increase available - I have it set to max; any less and it wouldn't really be worth having.

Thoe overall construction and aesthetic of the pedal is absolutely top-class, apart from the easily-scratched paint and I like it relatively small size and extra height - works really well on my pedalboard.
If you're looking for a TS clone go elsewhere - this is far and away a more realistic way to get that fat, output tube OD tone than any TS-type pedal (although, with the bass switch set to low and drive set to high you can get a pretty decent SRV sound).
If you're looking for an OD that is refreshingly real and dynamic, and will cover most bases in the country/blues/funk/soul arena then this is it.
I knock off a point as it's expensive and I wish the internal switches were external, plus the LEDs are confusing (I've used the pedal for over six months now and still get mixed up sometimes!)and it would be nice if the gain knob swept the whole range, thereby negating the need for the internal drive switch.

I work in a boutique music store, and this year I must have played on over 100 new handmade pedals...This Cream-tone is the real deal. I liked it on a few amps at the store, but when I played with it live with my band, it was the very best OD pedal I ever played. No noise, great feel, and tone for days. I used it with single coils and a Les Paul with wagner humbuckers, both had the same results..excellent...
I play on a Cornford Hellcat with a DR Z best cab with vintage 30's..

A big correction to my review below.
The last 400 or so are now shipping with user tweakable dip switches on the inside which provide drive and bass cuts. (Like the old Expandora.)
Mine was set to bass cut and drive boost. I opened it up and boosted the bass and cut the drive. Enormous improvement for single coils. OK, it gets my vote.

It still doesn't deliver what I expected, but now it's full fidelity and it's smoothed out. Very useable. Huge difference. And it's alot quieter.
However, still a little put off by the lack of a little signal trim knob considering it's lack of input sensitivity. But, since I slammed it before, it has to get a make-up 10.

So, if you have a newer model check the internal dip settings. Big difference, Also, ships with a new duracell battery, nice touch.
To the manufacture, I'd put a warning tag on the front of the pedal that the user needs to reconfig the internal dip switches to the rig before using. It wasn't obvious, and it's a great to have feature once you know it needs tweaking.

Bought new, and only a days work-out on it so far. Not what I expected at all, and my take is different from many of the reviews below. I agree the light-switch protocal is terrific, but the lay-out of the knobs means you can't easily adjust them with your toe. That's a fairly obvious oversight. I also think it's a faily noisy pedal with tone or drive past 12 o'clock. To me, much of the pedal just isn't useable due to the moise.

Fender custom strat w/Kinmans running through a 10 band eq into a Fender C-D in series with a Marshall TSL.
I think this rig's tone was v.good before the pedal. With this pedal, the sound compresses and the bottom end drops out. All the overdrive is skewed mid-upper freqs. It also sounds grainy or sizzly, fairly artifical. In contrast, I do like the solo switch, the riff notes fuse together well, stay articulate, have decent bloom. Overall, nothing like the sound clips I've listened to...my rig sounds a good deal more vintage OD before kicking in this pedal.
More...this pedal likes a heavy signal. I needed to move my pups up, and experiment with boosting the signal gain from the eq going into the pedal. It improved it's performance nicely boosting the input signal, but that shouldn't be necessary ... imho.
I guess you could say it's very rig dependent. It does sound much better coming through the Fender amp compared to the Marshall. But overall, an unnecessary addition to the pedal board.

If you buy one, be sure you're within the window to send it back. The solo switch will probably tip the scales for me, but it's horribly overpriced for it's useful performance. If you have no master gain, eq, modeling capability or soak on your rig, I guess this can serve alot of purposes. Frankly, I think I could find one of those Danelectro pedals that does what this can do for me for 1/4th the cost. But, hope it works great for you. If nothing else, it's a joy to look at.

i have been playing since 1966 and until recently was doing more than 300 shows a year. in all that time, not one pedal, and i have owned hundreds, has ever made it into my rig. i would buy them, play with them at home, and then sell them. none of them were worth what they did to kill the sound of a great guitar plugged into a great amp.
i got this pedal for fathers day and i kinda thought, "jeez why didn't they get me a tie?" "i don't have one of those."
5 minutes into playing with it, i cannot imagine ever going without this pedal again! i play a Musicman Albert Lee signiture thru an old red Tone King Imperial. ( i wrote a review). with this pedal i can get the sound of my amp turned all the way up at ANY volume. i don't mean cheesey master volume overdrive turned up. i mean no master volume on a black face deluxe turned up to 10 at any playing volume i want.

i am really really fussy. like i can't stand myself because it's impossible for me to find anything i like and can stick with.
i have owned one of every vintage guitar you can think of, except les pauls, teles, and strats of which i have owned DOZENS. i played vintage just because they really were BETTER, but honestly there are little guys out there now making new stuff that is every bit as good or better and you can sell all your vintage stuff for stupid money to people who don't even play! i settled on the Albert Lee model because my dream guitar would have been a smaller hard tail strat with an unfinished maple tele neck and bridge pick up and that's what it kinda is. it took about 30 years to find a guitar i really love, and i never would have believed it would be new! now i wish i could just find another guitar i would actually play.
for amps i always used black face deluxes and vibroluxes and blonde bassmans, but i don't think when they built them that they were really made to play hard for 50 years! it got to the point that every filter cap had been replaced 6 times along with almost every other part and you start wondering when it stops being a vintage amp. i found playing so much as i do, vintage fender amps just were not dependable for me. so i bought the Tone King IMperial brand new about 10 years ago and I will never own another amp.
what i love about this pedal is it lets me get the sound of my amp and guitar cranked up at any volume, so i never have to deal with the amp being too loud for a room ever again. i would never use an amp with a master volume control. i am a big believer in lower wattage amps turned up but sometimes when you get the sound you want you are really
too loud. this pedal solves that problem.
i also love that it is so easy to set up and operate that it doesn't interfer with my drinking! i play roots music and oddly enough orchestra pit show stuff. if you want heavy metal over drive, this is not the pedal. spend your money on spandex.

Very easy to use. Controls are Volume, Tone, Solo, and Drive. Two footswitches, one for bypass and the other to engage the Solo level and bump up the output. Three LED's provide explicit status as to whether the unit is on or off and whether it is in blues or solo mode. Solo mode seems to add extra kick to the level; it does not seem to add extra Drive.

In one simple word this pedal sounds GREAT; extremely natural, extremely articulate. I keep the Tone, Solo, and Volume all at about 2 o'clock, and the Drive at about 10 o'clock. Through an early 70s (non-master volume) Deluxe Reverb this thing is heaven.
If you listen closely to the distorted part of the signal from most overdrive pedals, the 'dirt' part produced sounds like crap. In a quiet room, a good amp will almost always sound better with a good guitar plugged straight into the amp. In my case, the guitars are an original '65 Strat and a Don Grosh Strat style guitar with maple fingerboard. It's amazing when you really listen, how much worse most pedals sound than the amp alone. Usually, most of the sweetness of a good amp is lost. Most overdrives ruin the sense of 'space' around a note because they are overbearing.
Not really so with the Cream-Tone. This is indeed a mild overdrive and it fattens the signal without becoming ugly and grotesque. It really does provide the feel of playing through an amp that is breaking up slightly, at least the way I set it. It's a very organic pedal and does not really sound like an effect.
Live in small clubs the Cream-Tone sounds wonderful. I don't need to play over the top to get my sound. As a matter of fact, I can get an expressive Strat tone without bludgeoning the audience; I'm talking about a tone that allows me to focus more on being a musician and less on twiddling dials. I get the note definition and the extra slight push that I need. Set it and forget it.
And this pedal is sensitive to volume changes on the guitar. I sometimes find that I have left it on for an entire set without realizing it, the tone is that non-imposing, and I can get a range of tones simply by using the volume control.
If you're into good tube tone, this thing is simply not overbearing; it sounds natural and my guitars keep their identities.
When I need more saturated tones I follow the Cream-Tone with a TC Jauernig DGTM (a nicely voiced pedal but one that has more of its own sound) which I usually use in conjunction with the Cream-Tone. When I want really clean tones, I'll turn off the Cream-Tone and turn on a Jauernig Luxury Drive which provides a sweet and full clean boost. Between these three pedals, I can cover a very large range of sounds, from clean to full on saturation through a Deluxe Reverb.

G2D gets HIGHEST praise for support. I e-mailed them when my volume pot was cutting out in certain places. Dave sent a new one to the East Coast USA from New Zealand at no charge, but it was somehow lost in transit. So when I e-mailed him he promptly sent me another one, AGAIN no charge, with thorough step-by-step instructions for swapping out the old one. How can you beat that?

I'd buy this pedal again. The Cream-Tone provides a subtle amount of gain that interacts with my tube amp's natural breakup characteristics; hard to tell whether the breakup is coming from the amp or the pedal. It just sounds natural. It does not ruin the sound of an already good sounding amp and that in itself is a feat. Most overdrive pedals do not sound natural, and I've owned and played quite a few, even one touted as the 'King'. The best thing about this pedal is that it allows me to forget about it and concentrate on making music.

Read my review on the Morpheus....
Put it this way " You shouldn't be playing with electric guitars if you can't work this out"
Has two switches so could be confusing for drummers.
Mine is a 2006 model with the internal settings for boosting or cutting the Bass and Drive.

Beautiful creamy overdrive with buckets full of tone all my amps love it. Makes it a joy to play the guitar.
I really enjoy using this pedal and would say it works really well with a valve amp and a nice guitar.
I play Strats and it makes them sing.
Easy to setup and has lots of editability, you cannot fail to get a good sound from this unit.

4 knobs, tone , volume, drive, and solo. Im guessing you are already familiar with the 3 first knowbs, the last one is to set up the level for the volume boost. It is pretty easy to mess with it. You can't find a bad sound in it. Everything is clear , perfect and georgeus.

Excellent. It is seriously the best overdrive i've heard. It is so transparent but hard at the same time. Its the kind of overdrive that you've been searching for all your life. If you like blues, country , indie rock ala death cab for cutie or any type of rock, you can't go wrong buying a cream tone.

A realy very good sounding "Brown OD" , it sounds like it looks like.
I would say you can dial in every "Vintage OD" sounds ,you are dreaming of.Very good to blow on my Fenders to Blues Heaven from
nearly clean to 6 o'Clock.
The "Tone Knob" seems to be passive you can only dial out highs.
And best of it all it has a Solo Boost with its own Volume Knob.
The Solo switch pushes the highs a little bit.
If you are a more "Spartan" Pedal user you need only this!!!
And its very silent

The sound quality is SUPERB. But firstly, sound quality comes from your Amp/speakers, this unit is there to enhance that quality. Its
settings allow for you to dial in the full spectrum of tone from clean
boost to Texas Drive. The Bypass has minimal effect on the tone.
Its the best I've found at what it does. Its simply the BEST '50s
Vintage Fender amp in a small affordable box!!! The clean settings
ARE Clean, and the Drive is warm and syrupy.

light failed on the bypass switch. E-mailed Dave, not a problem, sent

These guys care about what they build, the quality is all there.

I've had many many pedals over the years. All the Vintage stuff,
some good, a LOT not that impressive given their vintage mojo and
vintage PRICE!!!
I've found todays boutique pedals to be amongst the best ever made. Quality components, experienced Builders taking the old
circuits to the next level, quiet in operation, great sound
quality. I am lucky enough to have a few old Tweed Fenders, Champ,
Princeton, Deluxe, Super. All stock original. This pedal Nails
their tone, through other amps. Through the Fenders it enhances the
original tone, with NO colouration. If you want a vintage tweed
amp, without shelling out the big $, Look no further.
Is this a Great Pedal..... Damn Right.

Very easy to use. Controls are intuitive and you can't get a bad sound out of it if you tried. There's controls for Volume, Tone, Solo and Drive along with 2 footswitches, one to engage the unit and the other to toggle between Blues mode (normal) and Solo mode (boost).
It comes with a manual with operation instructions, trouble shooting and contact info.

This is simply the best overdrive I've ever tried. I play Fender CS Relic Strat, CS 50th Anniversay '54 Strat and a '57 Vintage Reissue Strat through several Fender tube amps and it sounds fantastic through all of them. The Cream-tone is very transparent and really lets the tone of your guitar come through. It is a very quiet unit also, no perceptable noise.
With the Volume turned up and the Drive set low I can get a nice clean boost. With the Drive dimed I get a very nice blues crunch ala ZZ Tops LaGrange. And in between is the sweetest mild blues tone reminicent of a slightly overdriven tube amp. The Solo boost also gives your tone a little more hair to cut through a loud band mix if you have to. Like I said, you can't get a bad sound out of this thing.

I've been playing for about 20 yrs and play a lot of blues and classic R & R. Everything from SRV,Clapton to the Stones. This seems to cover it all for this type of music. Just don't expect this pedal to do the Metal thing though. It was not desighned to do so. It will however give you a amazing transparent overdrive tone for classic rock and blues. I've had most of the Tube Screamer and clones, TS 9, TS 808, Route 66, Bad Monkey, Sparkle Drive etc...and they all seem to color the sound or over emohasis the midrange. Not the Cream-Tone. My bandmate uses a Full Drive II and he can't believe how good the Cream-Tone sounds(his Full Drive is now up for sale).
If it were stolen I would instantly be sending an email to Dave and Grant asking them to build me another one.
Highly Recommended.

Absolutely AWESOME tone.
I am using it with a PRS SE Soapbar through a Peavey Classic 20 valve amp.
If you are looking for a warm, smooth overdrive that will stay true to the natural sound of your guitar and pickups - this is the one. Nothing else I have tried even comes close. The bass response on this pedal just blows me away. Full transparent bass without going fuzzy - how come no other pedal (that I've heard) can do that.
Very responsive to playing technique.
The Cream Tone has ended my search for THE overdrive pedal because I can't imagine anything sounding better than this. There's nothing I would change about the way it sounds, and that's the highest recommendation I can give.
It's a quiet pedal - very slight hum from when engaged, but better than most overdrives. Switching is silent.

For a sweet Blues, Jazz, Light Rock style overdrive - this is definitely the one. If you want a lot of overdrive, or really dirty sounds, this is not your pedal.
It looks good and sounds unbelievable. Very fairly priced I would say for what you get.
I have been through a number of TS9 TS808 style pedals including an Analog Man modded TS9-DSX, several TS9s w/ TS808 mod, STL (Super Tube Screamer), Aria Tube Overdrive, modded BD-2. I also have a V-Stack, and a Banzai Fireball II (another great pedal).
The Cream Tone has the sustain and warmth of a good 808 without the excessive mids and weak bass response and without the over compressed sound. Much more transparent and musical.
If this were stolen, I would replace it as quickly as the guys in New Zealand could build me another one.
What would I change if I could - maybe just a little more volume boost on the Solo side.

First let me say if I have ever had a great effect pedal this is it. It does exactly what it advertises. Pure blues tone heaven.
That said....the Creme-Tone is pretty much a one trick pony. If you're looking for ZZ Top or heavy metal....then you have made a mistake in buying this pedal. It is a light overdrive with a smooth texture that is very transparent. It is somewhat like an 808 without the big mid hump. The big difference is that most effects color your sound, while the Creme-tone just provides an edge without a radical change in the EQ. The tone knob is more of a hi-cut than anything else. Even set at the lowest setting there is no big woofy increase in bass response and at the highest setting there are not ice-pick highs and shrill thin sounding tones. I guess you could say that this pedal just enhances what you already have.
I use a variety of guitars with the Creme-tone. Some have said that this pedal is more at home with single coils. I give no argument to that but if you have much experience.....nearly all pedals are more at home with single coils. What impressed me was what it would do with humbuckers. It still sounded transparent and focused. Now that is impressive. It's great with my McInturff or my 335...and very few that have been. Or course it sings with the Suhr Strat.
I also use a variety of amps and this pedal is completely amp neutral. It's as much at home with a Matchless as it is with an ol' 59 Bassman.

I'm primarily a blues player, influenced by the three Kings, Albert, BB and Freddie, Albert Collins,Buddy Guy, Luther Allison and a host of others. I also do a little classic and southern rock. I have been playing about 40 years and I have had a ton of equipment in that time including about every tube amp Fender ever made as well as many boutique amps. I own several guitars at present and have had many others over the years. Not that any of that matters, but for some reason you're supposed to talk about it.
Bottom line is this is a great pedal and a huge asset to your gear. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

VERY easy to use. Two modes, Blues and Solo. Volume, Tone, Solo, and Drive knobs, coupled with a Bypass and a Blues/Solo switch. True bypass to boot. Volume sets the overall volume (output when engaged), tone...well...sets the "Tone," Solo sets the amount of volume/girth boost when the Solo switch is engaged, and Drive sets the amount of...well...Drive in the Blues mode. The Solo mode doesn't really add any more gain, but it adds a volume increase, (setable), and a REALLY nice girth to the notes that makes your solo stand out in the mix.
One thing that takes a few minutes to get used to are the LED lights. When you first plug the pedal in, the Yellow LED (far left) and the Blue LED (middle) light up. It doesn't take long to figure out that the Yellow LED is signifying that the unit is in THE BYPASS MODE, because as soon as you step on the Bypass switch the Blues mode engages and the Yellow LED goes out. This would be OK, but you still have the Blue light ON signifying that the pedal is in the "Blues" mode, yet when you step on the Blues/Solo button the Blue light goes out and the Red LED (far right) goes on now signifying that you are in the Solo mode. (??)

This is really a GREAT sounding pedal that is VERY transparent. If you already like your "Clean" tone and just want a pedal that will give you everything from a slight "Bluesy" edge to light "Rock," then the G2D Cream Tone is one of the best I've tried. If you are looking for a pedal to get you into the "Hard Rock" or "Metal" zones, or for a pedal that will turn your Fender into a Marshall, then look elsewhere, as those tones are NOT in this pedal. I use the G2D Cream Tone in front of my Fender 57 Tweed Twin, with my Heritage Classic 535 (Seth Lover pickups) and my Epiphone Les Paul Standard. (also with Seth Lovers) The tones range from Claptonesque Blues with my Heritage to Allman Bros. approved tones with my Les Paul. This pedal is NEVER harsh, and although it does have a "slight" mid hump and compression, (just enough to CUT) there is an inherant "sweetness" about the tonality that makes is VERY pleasing to the ears and never stereotypical.

This pedal seems to be in the price range of most of the other so called "boutique" pedals, but unlike some others I've tried, this pedal actually delivered the "tonal" goods I was looking for. Works equally as well with my ES-335 style guitar or my Les Paul, and is my "go-to" pedal when Blues or light Rock is called for. I'm actually considering one of the G2D Classic pedals for that "Plexi" sound.

I bought this pedal 2nd hand without packaging or a manual, but it is absolute childsplay to use.
It looks like a piece of Soviet millitary equipment with it's bulky mid-brown, definately built-to-last, metal casing, and four "vintage cream" rotary knobs which operate the volume, tone, solo and drive controls.
There are three status LEDs (yellow, blue and red) operated by two footswitches; one to switch between; bypass on (yellow LED on) and bypass off (yellow LED off), and one to switch between blues (blue LED on, red LED off) or solo (blue LED off, red LED on). How easy is that? No? Ok, have another read of the last sentence and it WILL make sense, I promise you!

In my experience, and that's 40 years of playing, there are far, far, too many pedals flooding the market today that are built to buy the manufacturing company's director a second "new" house in Florida, and to pay for his, or her, champagne bill and comfortable early retirement. I name no names! And then there are the very, very few, genuinely useful and well thought out pedals that are actualy designed and built to enhance the harminics of your playing, and the tone of your guitar and your amplifier; and what's more, so of 'em actualy do!
This one does!
It is my opinion that the good people at G2D in Newzealand (where they definately have no need for a second house in Miami) have built, for us and themselves, a pedal that is genuinely useful, and does actually do the job of enhancing the tone of your guitar and amplifier. And unfortunately, because G2D's pedals are not mass produced, and are not swamping guitar mags with their glossy adverts, and are not piled in artistic pyramid like constructions flanked by scantily-clad nubiles at any of the "Euro-Muso-Fairs"; the good people at G2D ain't gonna make a bucket of money!
What they have made is a damn good reputaion based on a few, select, worthwhile, and very usable, not to mention affordable, pedals. The components, construction and sound quality are as good as any of the "Rob Keeley" USA products, and if you have to wait, like I did, to get your hands on a G2D pedal outside of the Southern Hemisphere, then for Gawds-sake, try harder!
I use Humbuckers, single-coils and P90's through "Dennis Cornell" class A, valve amps, and the G2D Cream Tone pedal, coupled with my superb "Holy Trinity" of Rob Keeley pedals (Compressor, Katana and Java) give me my "Holy-Grail" of tone!
Thank you G2D, and of course, Rob Keeley!
