Although I'm not as enamored as the rest of the reviewers I'll agree it's easy to us and not over-the-top like some distortion pedals. Like my other G2D box, the knobs are symetrical and close to together, meaning it tough to adjust the settings with your toe - a real oversight. Otherwise, it's very likeable and usable.

Sound Quality : 10
I like to stack distortion and this box is very capable and happy to used in an effects chain or before your amp's distortion. Found some elusive hard texas rock sounds I was looking for too. Although it's seems to be marketed as a drop D thing, when you back it off in a chain with OD it does some neat things. For this pedal, the rig I'm using is primarily a LP > SD Pearly Gates > 10 band eq > tube Marshall, with various effects pedals. I did find useable sounds immediately, and they weren't cheap sounding. Very broad range of useable settings, and articulate no matter what.

Reliability : 10
G2D quality, like a tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I'll give it a top score because a) it's useable over the broad range of settigs and tweaks - which separates it from 45% of the other pedals out there, and b) it's always artculate and musical which separate it from another 45% and c) it plays well with other effects . That makes it a top ten pedal for me, expensive but not a toy like most of the junk out there.

Dial up a sound and off you go! Amazingly easy to get a great distortion setting and well laid out controls.

If you can't work it out you probably didn't manage to get it out of the box anyway so don't worry yourself reading this review.

Sound Quality : 10
Silent operation and a built in noise gate for when you really want to crank the distortion. True Bypass and even when the pedal is cranked all the way up you can still make out the tone of the guitar that you are using!!! How did they manage it???

You can scoop out the Mids to taste.

WARNING THIS PEDAL IS NOT SUBTLE!!!

Works best on a clean amp setting and has almost rectifier qualities to the distortion.

I love this pedal and it made me go out and buy one of their Cream Tone pedals off the back of this one that I picked up from Ebay.

Reliability : 10
Bullet proof, real handmade quality. I'd gig without a backup no hesitation.

Customer Support : 10
Very helpful Company and a joy to deal with. I recommend them to my friends and I don't normally recommend anyone.

Dave & Grant are top blokes and I love their products. Must be something in the water ( or not, ahem) down there in Auckland.

Overall Rating : 10
I play all styles from Blues to all out Rock and Alternative Rock / Metal / Noise!

If you stole this from me I would have to make you hurt (I'd probably beat you with the Morpheus itself)

If you want it hard heavy and unsubtle then I reckon you will love the Morpheus.

I love the controls and the way they interact and talso he LED status lights make it so easy to use on stage.

Sounds good out of the box. The tone knob has so much of a range you can get any sound you want without comprimising your eq settings on the amp. You can get a great saturated palm mute ca-chunck without sacrificing the mid-range you need from your amp's eq to get a nice clean tone when you bypass the pedal itself. The more comfortable I got the pedal, the better it sounded. It's a great tool. Manual is not nesscessary just plug in a play. Gate needs to be used to make pedal quiet. But it's subtle and does not compremise tone.

Sound Quality : 10
The more I use it the better it sounds. Hell I think it works for all styles of music. The drive knob turned all the way down sounds Marshall like. Turned the knob all the way up for that Mesa crunch. I use a Fender Concert Reverb with a les paul so the conditions are just right for any vibe. It's very versitle. Sounds great with a wah pedal too. Also love how it screams pinch harmonics are effortless!

Have not had it long but it's a great design. Very similar to the Carl Martin brand's size and shape. Don't think I will have issues with it crapping out.

These guys build these things in New Zealand. So if you live on the other side of the world like the U.S. I would be reasonably patient the shipping alone is long and expensive. But I never had to deal with these guys about a problem.

i have paid 300-500$ for tube preamp style metal distortion units like the dehumanizer and the hughes and kettner tubeman. Both came close but to get the sound I wanted I had to sacrifice my amp eq and clean tone to get them to sound decent. This thing is alot smaller and easier to use it's the best metal pedal out there. The rest of that crap like the metal zone (Keeley Moded) metal muff, dod, etc. They got the job done, but this Morpheus makes it almost too easy.

Very easy to use. The tone knob gives a great range of voicings, and as the previous reviewer highlights, is actually a mid control.
I don't find myself adjusting it much, but the noise gate is really handy. You can set it very accurately to handle the type of pickup you are putting into it.

Sound Quality : 10
Awesome, honestly.

I play a Tele w Seymour Duncans, a G&L Legacy with a JB Jnr, and a custom guitar with two SD Invaders and a SD single, all into a Fender Twin 65 RI.

This pedal gives you huge sounds, and as it is voiced well for Fender amps is gives you a very suitable tone to complement the natural tonal tendencies of the Twin.

I don't think I've ever heard a Fender Twin sound so huge before, this pedal is just a monster. I have to be honest, it was better than I was hoping for, even after trying it for 10 minutes in the shop. Having been playing through it for a while now, I still love it.

I am slightly scared of injuring older people though.

Reliability : 10
Can you say build quality?

G2D pedals make Boss look a bit nasty. High quality switching, and the knobs feel premium quality. Heavy build case too.

Customer Support : 9
Very helpful, answer questions quickly on email. Haven't had to get maintenance so can't answer on that.

Overall Rating : 10
I haven't heard another heavy distortion pedal that I would buy over this. I've played heaps, and heard heaps, but as of yet I can honestly say I've never seen one that I would buy instead.

I actually bought this one because I was so impressed by their Custom Overdrive.

I've been playing about 20 of my 27 years.

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use. Comes with a manual explaining the 4 knobs of Level, Tone, Gate, and Drive. The connections are one thing I love about the construction, they are in the back along with the power adapter. The true bypass switch is in the lower left corner, the Leds are pretty easy to see against the black powdercoated finish. I own two other G2D pedals and they are super simple to operate and get great sounds out of.

Sound Quality : 10
Guitars I use are: Tom Anderson Drop Top with H/S/S Anderson pickups, and a Gibson Les Paul Classic with 500T in Bridge, and 496R in the neck.

My amp is a custom designed one called the Cruiser, primarily setup as a clean type amp to work well with stompboxes. 45-watts running into a cabinet equipped with a Vintage 30 and a Vintage 10.

This pedal is a great one to come close to emulating a Mesa Boogie Rectifier tone with a bit of the Marshall smoothness around the edges of the distortion. This pedal has 3 times the gain amount of the G2D Custom/Standard Overdrive on the "Red" side (check out the reviews on that one as well). The tone control is strictly a mid-cut or mid-boost, does nothing with the highs and lows. The lows from this pedal are set at a perfect frequency to get that heavy Mesa chunk, and the highs have a nice vocal, airy quality to them. I own their Cream Tone and their Standard, and love this one equally as well. It stood up well against a Mesa Single Rectifier a friend of mine plays through, and I could get that old Santana type of lead tone using the Paul on the neck pickup very nicely. The main difference between this pedal and a Mesa amp may be a little in the amount of "hair" around the distortion, the amp has a bit more, but that's where the pedal's Marshall quality seems to smooth it out nicely.

The competition for this pedal was my Tonebone Hot British which covers a lot of sonic territory and is as smooth and beefy as you can get. It is totally voiced for High Gain Marshall, and I wanted another over the top distortion with a Boogieish voicing, the guys customized this one nicely and it did not disappoint me when I gave it an acid test 1 day after receiving it. You can hear your guitar ringing out through all the gain, which gives you your own sound and tone.

The gate feature on the pedal is very smooth, and you can take it completly out by turning it counterclockwise, or you can use it to give yourself a total staccato feel for playing tunes like Metallica "One".

This is their highest gain pedal.

Reliability : 10
All their pedals use high quality components and are very durable in their construction. True bypass is a must for all my drives and distortions.

Customer Support : 10
I've been corresponding with these guys for nearly 10 months now, and they have answered my tone questions very honestly, and accurately. Dave and Grant are very concerned with your satisfaction, and well, I've never sent a pedal back to them. They love talking gear, and are interested in your comments and opinions, and they will do custom work to voice their pedals to your needs within reason. Top notch blokes down in New Zealand.

Overall Rating : 10
What can I say, I own 3 of theirs and love them all for the sonic territory they are designed to cover. The vocal quality of the pedals compliments my style of play where tonality is the key to my presentation of fast or slow music. This pedal rocks!

Keep up the great work guys, thank you for my customization, and good luck. I've turned a couple of friends on to your stuff, and have answered many questions from other players around the USA. Can I get a commission for promoting your products?
