Its a wah. No easier or more difficult then other wahs. It would be cool if somebody actually made a good step on wah like the morleys which are the easiest to use but sound like...ugh

I have a really big line up of guitars, but we'll just use a vintage strat for this review, since I feel they sound best with wahs. I have two vintage strats that sound completely different. That goes into a timmy od which goes into an eh memory man deluxe and a super reverb re-issue. Not to many effects but I play the blues.
I also own the fulltone clyde, dunlop crybaby, vox v848 clyde, and a real clyde that I dont feel comfortable gigging with.

This sounds a lot like my dunlop crybaby. No offense to teese but its overpriced man. Inside it looks a lot like my crybaby to so i feel like im paying a couple hundred for some chinese crap thats the same thing.

Not saying its all that bad, it gets some sweet sounds..but so does my crybaby. I would say its a little better, but for the price its not close to worth it.

Still havent found THAT SOUND yet, but Im waitin. I thought itd be good from all the positive stuff i read on reviews, but i guess anybody can say anything.

COMPLETE disappointment, 5 for not sounding bad, but not sounding that good either.

Looks like a tank. I might use it as a backup for my fulltone.

I play blues and rock with an active cover band. Ive been playing for 32 years if I remember right and own to much gear to name.
If it was stolen I wouldnt really care about the pedal as much as the guy that stole it from me. Id kill the guy and put the pedal back in the closet.
I dont love it and only hate it because i was so excited about it and was let down. This guy most have people on the internet working for him or something because theres no way its that good for 200 bucks.
I still want a good wah. At least its not as bad as the budda wah i spent almost the same on and it sounded like week crap!

Step on Step off, has the little trimmer pot inside the blue box inside of the pedal, not hard to spot. Takes only a very slight turn to
reduce/add buffer for for balance of signal / noise ratio adjustment.

OK, this review will be brief. Strat through stacked low gain OD's and Ultra Fuzz high gain (adjusted low gain here for all attempts to win me over) and through Boss CE-2 and delays. Amps are small solid state amps, Bi amped and set up in 4 corners.
No matter what, I could not keep this pedal from screeching small white noise out of the amps, any amp. Trimmed that pot downward until the output was nearly OFF, by then the effect was gone. Heel up all the way and it just went WOOOOOO...loudly, until.........All the low gain setting OD's were off.
A/B'ed this wah with my Morgan Miller modded TB Crybaby and night and day operation.

My decision is that this Pedal I believe really wants nothing but the High End AMPS nat. distortion and few clocked pedals in front and that's the name of this game. Good sweep good sound , but only Straight to Amp.

I played one at Fat Sounds through to a Dr Z 18 and it cooked.
So there you go.

Good solid make and not the Mass produced China Crap that was mentioned earlier.

Geoffrey's the best. Talked to him when I had the RMC 3 and he is quick and accurate to answer.

Always wanted one, pulled the trigger on this when I found one on ebay for cheap. Been playing and testing gear for a LONNNNNNG Time. Have 2 Strats and PRS single cut with buckers that I did NOT try. This is a good quality pedal, it's just not what I need in the way of a wah with my rig. I am sure that the High END Tube folks ( and I was a DIE HaRD one until I had to go small with my travels) will appreciate it, or they won't if they encounter the same problems.

It's very easy to use. It's been 10 years since I bought my last wah pedal, and I didn't know how switches have evolved since then. I really dig the switch for this wah. Turning on my old Crybaby was a pain in the butt, but this new generation of switch makes the wah more live friendly.

I mostly run a Strat into a Fender tube amp with a tube screamer. It's a very vocal wah. It makes your guitar pronounce "WAH." It's a trip. The travel is spread out nice, and is smooth. I guess John Mayer uses one, too. It seems smoother when played cleanly, but if you add over drive after the signal, it gets nice and rude. you can't go wrong with this wah.

I first ran my Wah with the One Spot 9v adaptor. After using it for about 30 minutes, I noticed the "NO ONE SPOT 9V ADAPTOR" sticker on the bottom. I guess you should power it with a regulated 9v adaptor with no more than 200ma output. Oops. I emailed Geoffrey, and he kindly wrote me back with an adaptor recommendation. He backs his work.

It's the best wah money can buy these days. I tried the Crybaby, Vox, and the Fulltone Clyde. I felt this pedal can give me the idea wah sound I have in my head every time I step on it. What more do I need?

this wah is a hot rodded clyde mccoy. alot of people swear that all of the vintage wahs came stock like this...but they all didnt. i admit, ive played some pretty NICE sounding vintage wahs, but played more lame than good. ive also been building wahs for the past few years, so i know what goes into a wah pedal to make it sound good.

the material used for the capacitors makes a difference, more so than the resistors. at such a low voltage, id think that carbon composition resistors would only be noisy. but this wah is no different from anything with metal film resistors. interesting that teese chose to used that specific value for the electrolytic capacitor, as thats typically the value i felt sounded best, as well. :-D

the pot is finely tuned to his ear, the way a GREAT pot should sound. Icar, capitalized!

and the inductor, a fine piece of chocolate goodness that has, for me, completed a long conquest for the ultimate vintage wah tone. not to mention, ABSOLUTE CONSISTENCY. i bought this wah a week ago brand new, because i had one in the past and cant figure out what happened to it...i had a RMC3 that i let a guy (RICH KIMURA) borrow, and he never gave it back...smooth...

anyways, this picture wah is more than just the same 'ol "got my blues strat, blues amp, and gotta get my hendrix/srv blues wah!" im not incredibly fond of blues purists, simply after working for carvin for 6 months only to deal with these absolute blues tone snobs on a daily basis...

ive heard/owned 90% of wahs on the market. this is my favorite for the classic wah tone, hands down. the bottom end of the sweep is just as good as it should be, not over the the top. no smooth highs, here! if you want smooth highs, a wah pedal may not be the one for you. the inductor sounds as if its rich in harmonics (tuned well to 503mH, 30ohms), a way of making it cut through all of the rich distortion that the 6505 has to dish out. at the bottom of the neck, i managed to get it to make my chords scream with madness into a wall of distortion, while being able to rock it in the middle for solos to help cut through the cold cheese that are Paiste rude cymbals.

teese, you sir are doing something beyond great. not to mention, i LOVE the blue!!!

if there is ever a problem, i will email teese to let him know. if its something like a broken solder, i wouldnt waste a bit of energy to email em. on the other hand, if the pot goes to crap, i will contact Teese.

been playing forever, blah blah blah. if youre looking for a classic wah tone (that doesnt mean an old wah tone you cant use for metal), then this is it. it cuts through incredibly well, its extremely vocal, its backed by a great warranty, a great guy, and if you expect anything less than incredible, you have poor taste. (mark my words). you can pay twice as much for for the next soon-to-be-gone boutique wah dude out of the bedroom and be disappointed, or you can do the right thing and support someone with the best talent, knowledge, and appreciation for the wah wah.

now to buy another wizard wah...

It's a wah. You just step on it. Switch doesn't click off too easily at the toe end of sweep while you are soloing away.

I have about ten+ wahs including 70s Morleys, some Dunlop pedals (those with knobs and whatnot), and an old Maestro Boomerang pedal. My second favorite pedal is a simple Thomas Organ Crybaby pedal with a Dunlop Hotpot installed. It is a wicked pedal, but this Teese Picture Wah, my new favorite wah, just has that honk to it. It sounds about exactly like the wah sounds from the late 60s. It has a strong tone. Some wahs might be more radical, but this one sounds georgous to my ears. I like it better for the tone, which seems to be dead on the best of the old Clyde McCoy pedals. Also, my guess is that some of the talk I have heard on the net about the pre-environmental reg pedals, particularly the 2005 series sounding so much better, is probably hype. You know how we guitar geeks can be about our gear. It does not lack for Kahunahs. Also, the fuzz friendly additon to the curcuit is a big plus. I play through a Fulltone silicon fuzz pedal, so the buffer keeps the wah effect open sounding and not screaming. The Foxrox upgrade for the old pedals would cost you a few.

Only owned it a couple weeks, seems to be built like a tank. The housing is the traditional Vox/Thomas Organ style that seems to be made out of cast alluminum. The board mounted jacks might or might not give me issues in the future, but they look pretty snug. We'll say 8 with the jacks, but it's likely not a problem.

Never dealt with Mr. Teese, but I hear he's an incredibly responsive guy.

I must say, the metallic blue paint job reminds me of my old souped up '79 Cutlass. I just wish it came in metallic purple haze, man. I play mostly harder blues oriented rock for lack of a better description. I've messed around with punk and alt rock but my heart lies in the Zep/Hendrix et al school mostly. My gear consists of Gibsons, an Oasis Artist (70s boutique guitar), a Hagstrom I, a bunch of pedals that I switch out, including Fulltone 70s, Soulbener, Ibanez 808 series phaser, chorus, and flanger, as well as a TS-808, and a bunch of other stuff. Just bought a good 'ol Big Muff, which will be modded along with the TS-808. I have Marshall cabs, a Marshall Power amp, a Trace Elliot TVT-9 guitar preamp and other gear. Anyway, it sounds great. So far I have only played it through my Ampeg VT-22 combo amp since I moved into a Marshall hostile apartment. I'd rather just plug into the combo than deal with all that rig as well. If you want a Clyde McCoy pedal and if you want to get yer Hendrix on, this is the pedal for you. You get what you pay for and this is no exception. I'd definitely get another one if it were lost or stolen. I'd say 10 if not for the jacks. Sound-a definite ten, or 11 as Nigel Tufnel would say.

This wah is a very vintage sounding wah with alot of quack. If you rock this wah from heel to toe in rhythm it might even quack too much. When you play with this wah wah you have to learn to rock it back and forth as much as you want the frequencies to go up or down, making it a little tricky to use I guess. (But it's like riding a bike, you will learn how to do it, and once you do, you will never forget how to do it.)
Personally I love it, because when you really want it to squeel you go full toe down and it screams like no other wah (I've played).
Also I like that even in full heel it doesn't go too low. Before the RMC pic I had a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe which went back after a couple of days. That wah wah sounded so muffled at full heel as it sounded like the guitar came and went when you rocked the pedal.

I give the Picture wah a 10 for the long sweep and excellent sound!

Seems to work great 2 years later, though I had to swap the pot as it got all crackly, but no pot will last forever. It's like changing tubes in your amp I guess..

I could actually recommend people to buy a RMC wah just because when you do, you will never have to worry. Excellent customer support is just a mail away.

One time I mailed Geoffrey and I recieved an automated reply saying that he had taken his first vacation in many years and that he would get back to me as soon as he could.
That was also the longest time I had to wait for a reply from him.

I don't own that many pedals, but few of them has a permanent place on the pedalboard. Actually there's only two, the Peterson Strobostomp and the RMC Picture Wah. Also the Memory Man Deluxe hasn't been off the board in quite a while now either.

For people searching after the BEST WAH PEDALS ON EARTH. STOP HERE!
RMC IS THE BEST.

Don't worry about people that write about these pedals being noisy or tonesucking etc. They either have faulty units or they doesn't know what they're talking about.

Remeber though that the Picture wah has a vintage voice to it and may not be suitable for modern music. I definitely doesn't say it would work, because it would for me, but some people might think it doesn't. It's just a heads up..

It's a wah without any external controls or knobs...so it's pretty simple. I wanted a wah that would do the clyde mccoy sounds you hear on hendrix records. I don't want to mess with internal trim pots or q-controls. So, I wen't with the Picture wah.

I've owned LOTS of wahs. In the past I've had a Crybaby (modded for true bypass), a VOX V847, a Fulltone Clyde Standard, and a late 60s Itialian made Sun City Wah Face. The Picture wah is where my wah search ends. It has that extremely vocal wah sound you hear in the live stuff from Hendrix and SRV. It's exactly what I've been looking for.

It's handmade...the build quality is excellent. I see it lasting a long time.

I've only e-mailed Geoffrey Teese one time. He replied quickly and was very friendly and helpful. This is another example of why I like dealing with boutique builders...you don't ever get the runaround...just great customer service.

I wish this scale went to 12...this is a well built, fantastic sounding wah.

I've been playing for about 17 years...several of them semi-professionally. My main guitar is a Parsons/White Long Throw B-Bender Tele. My main gigging amp is a Dr. Z Maz 18NR with a 2x12 Z-Best cabinet. I'd definitely buy another Teese Picture wah if this one was lost or stolen.

Picture Wah sounds great but way too noisy - hiss when clicked on. All my effects have true bypass and I isolated this noise to the Picture Wah... I went back to my Vox 848 because of the noise
problem. Can't use this at gigs.....

Setup is Jimmy Page Custom Authentic #110, Marshall JCM800 2203 with 100 series HW cabinets.

Overrated, hyped and WAY too NOISY..... why the heck go through the trouble of bypass and good tone to spoil it with a loud hisssssssssssssss!!!!!

It's a wah-wah, how hard could it be? Adjusting the torque is EXETREMELY easy

sound quality: Amazin... honestly, dead on to a Clyde McCoy wah.I bought this wah looking for something that could really do Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" extremely accurately. This is beyond what I could have Hoped for. This is absolutely the tone for the version on Electric Ladyland, Jimi could have used this wah and sounded the same. This is the best wah is the world.

If you're looking for a good ClydeMcCoy wah then your search is over. Hell, this wah is probably better than the original. Perfect for any vintage Vox wah tones. Way to go Mr.Teese, way to go.

Step on it, rock it, and step on it again. I have the switch set so that I have to put a bit of pressure on the switch before it turns on, no accidental turn offs here!

Fantastic! Sounds just like it should! I installed the FoxRox output buffer so it works great with fuzz. It replaced my True Bypass modded Vox v847. That wah sounded good, but this one sounds great!

It is used from late 2005, the switch seems fine, and the pot doesnt scratch, so I'm sure it will be fine for a while. If not, pot and switch fixes are easy and essential. I don't have backups for anything, so yeah.

I've emailed mr. teese, and he's very very VERY helpful.

Superb sound. As always with pedals it surely depends on in which order and with what else you use them in chain to get the best sound out of it. This is my way: Strat -> Teese Picture Wah -> ZVex Box of Rock -> MojoVibe -> AM Bi-Comp (only for clean sounds) -> Retro-Sonic Chorus -> Bogner Duende.
I have been playing many Wah pedals. The Picture Wah is the end of my Wah search. I own the new "fuzzfriendly" model. It workes perfect with my BoR. But that's not really a fuzz or distortion pedal anyway.
The Picture Wah always cuts through the mix. Punchy and never harsh.

I also own a RMC 2 which also is a great pedal but which besides the Picture Wah I came to use more in studio situations. The Picture Wah is just a rock live. Wah and finito.

I own it since a couple of months. No problems.

I contacted Geoffrey Teese for some very special problem with the 9V power input (nothing wrong with the pedal!). He was very, very helpful. Very quick answer, very friendly. He seems to be a person like his wahs sound: Deep bass for soul and knowledge, warm mids for the heart and in the end very precise but never harsh for the "well, so it is". Just Wah.

I would not want to go to heaven once if there was a sign at the entrance that would say "Sorry, but all Picture Wahs sold out here".

Very simple to use, stomp and play. Comes with adjustment instructions and an allen wrench.

This pedal produces all the sounds I am looking for. I use it with a strat,tele,or an older Ibanez 335 style guitars and various vintage fender amps. Playing in a room by myself,when actived it is noisy but in a live band situation (when it counts)all you hear is a pure distinct voice that crys wah.

I've not had long enough to tell. It seems quite sturdy.

I play soul,funk, r&b,(motown). I've been playing for a long time. I also own a crybaby classic (3years old) and have just replaced the switch and pot to fulltone. It now sounds better than it did but for my style of playing the rmc sounds more authentic to the old thomas organ wahs. My crybaby will only be used if my picture wah goes down.

This is a plug and play wah, no dials or switches to mess around with and waste precious time... plug it in and rock n roll, doesn???t get better than this fella???s... it did come with instructions and a tool to mess around with the torque on the pedal but it was set up great when I got so it stays the way it is for now...

As soon as I plugged it in I was blown away with the difference... This is what it's all about... I???ve owned a Vox Clyde McCoy and a Dunlop wah and have played many other wahs... I???m not that much of a tone junkie but I do like to sound good and know when I do and with this wah the sounds I make are incredible, really it makes you play better... It???s got this low end growl and is so natural and dynamic with sweet spots all around... just try one and you too will see what everyone???s talking about, oh except for the wanker "tonereaper" a few reviews down that quite obviously has no clue what he???s talking about... Mate if you really believe what you wrote then I???d have your ears checked out real quick and stop wasting our time and skewing the reviewers numbers...

I got one of the new shell designs in grey, looks nice but that???s not really top on my list... It???s very well put together and clean inside and is built real solid... you can just feel it, its quality...

I haven't had any need to contact Geoffrey but if in the future I do, I'm sure based on the numerous other reviews I???ll be taken care of just the same as everyone else...

I mostly play blues and psychedelic rock... I've always been stuck on Hendrix and those old time Mississippi blues masters ass well and Clapton and Trower and so many more... I've got a 1970 Fender strat reissue through a Special Edition Blues Jr. and an MJM London Fuzz... It works so well with my germanium fuzz I was quite surprised and its also very transparent... I can nail so many tones with this wah I just cant wait to plug in everyday... It really makes you sound so good and also shows you what kinda tone all those cats were messin around with back in the day... I love this pedal, thanx RMC...

With all due respect to the previous reviewer, I actually like to read negative reviews as well as glowing ones. It helps me learn shortcomings about a product that I might want to buy, or ultimately -- not buy. But scathing negatives that don't back up the reason for such and don't go into explicit details aren't helpful to the user community.

Getting on with it -- very easy to use -- it's a Wah pedal. Step to turn it on, sweep while you pay, step to turn it off. Unscrew to change battery, or use a power adapter. Forget tweakability -- this wah pedal doesn't need it. And now it comes with a variation of the FoxRox retrofit so that it plays nicely and sweeps full range with fuzz pedals, for no additional cost. Can't beat that with a stick!! Voila!

I've been waiting a long time for these to become available based upon word of mouth and seeing a friend of mine use a Wizard Wah life on his board. This is what I've been searching for since I bought my first Crybaby 15 years ago. Beautiful tone with any guitar, especially with my Strat. Sounds great with all my guitars, amps, pedals, dirt boxes, pickups. If you're a Les Paul player, I highly suggest checking out the Wizard Wah as well.

Looks as dependable as can be. Built solid like a rock inside and out. Can't wait to start using it live.

Mr. Teese has a great reputation as a builder and service oriented person, and he backed that up personally with me. Got him on the phone very easily after I ordered my Wah with a question about the retrofit. Very helpful dude. Great on email as well. I love it when the best products are made by equally stellar people.

The single best Wah I've played. Beats out EVERY stock and boutique wah I've ever played, and I've played them ALL.

As easy as they have ever been. Wait, make that easier. I'm using a MUCH better switch now and a wah case with easy to adjust torque control.

The same as always. Wait, better here too. All RMC wahs now feature licensed Fuzz Friendly Technology so they work with most fuzz boxes, distortion units, and modern high gain amps.

Better quality DPDT switch than the previous blue 3PDT, Carling, Cliff, etc. that I've used over the years.

I've had some problems with the Switchcraft jacks I've been using so I've gone to a different pcb layout, with high quality board mounted jacks that won't foul like the Switchcraft have. Believe me, I put my prototype through absolute hell before I went into production with the new layout.

I stand behind my wahs 100%. However, if you go all around the internet telling lies, slandering me, my wahs, my employees, and my business in general, then we'll have a problem...

My wahs are still built in my workshop, currently in South Carolina, using the best available components. I have redesigned my entire line in order to better meet international RoHS and WEEE laws. Yes, and Geoffrey is nice as long as you don't criticize his stuff. But if you do, he then is a jerk.

The new wahs from RMC are made with a circuit board that is connected to the input and output jacks, It has a cheep on off switch and the wah pedal is not worth $50.00 us dollars. Just look inside before you buy one and you'll see what I'm talking about.

To start, it's a wah. Plug and play. The on/off switch is nice and loose, so you don't have to stomp on it to turn it on or off. It's true bypass,which is essential for a wah. There is absolutely no signal lost in the chain.

Wow. I've played the main wah's out there (Dunlop, Vox), but this thing is on a totally different level. The true bypass really helps, as I am a freak about losing any signal. It has a huge sweet spot, very musical. I play a Les Paul through a JCM 800, and what is realy impressive is the amount of sustain you can get from this pedal. Through my set up, it definitely colors the tone, and reduces some of the "growl" from the Marshall, but this is not a bad thing. It adds sustain, and somehow a little overdrive to the sound. The lows sound amazing, and the mids are very tight. This pedal just sings when your playing lead and sounds nice and fat when your playing rhythm. Most impressive, it is not noisy. You do know that it is on as you can hear the filter, but it is not loud. Some have siad that it is not humbucker friendly. I can say without a doubt that it takes everything my LP has with room for more.

Just got it, but it seems very solid and I don't think I would need a backup.

Geoffrey is very quick to resond to emails, and answered all my questions. It took several months to get this pedal (I ordered it in June), and I originally ordered an RMC1. There was a mix up between the store I ordered it from and Teese, they only received the picture Wah's and some RMC3's. Rather than wait, I grabbed a picture wah and could not be happier.

I play rck music, and I keep my pedal board pretty simple:

This wah sounds awesome and is very responsive to your playing, which I really enjoy. A lot of wah's can sound cheesy, but this thing has balls, and that is what it is all about.

When I did my original review on this pedal I made a mistake and it got listed under RMC4 this is not a review on the RMC4.
This is without a doubt my main wah.Has been for quite a while.Just plug and Play.

THis wah is studio Quiet.Tone for days.It has the Vintage style wah market covered and then some.I use several different amps and guitars along with different pedals.This wah gets along fine with all of them..I just read on RMC's site that his wahs are now Fuzz Friendly.MIght be worth checking out but for now I am happy.

Can you depend on it? It's a %$#$%^ RMC.

I Love Rock.Everything else comes second..I started playing guitar when I was a Kid.I have over 35 wahs in my collection collecting dust now..The Picture wah is my working wah.I have posted many comments about these wahs on line.I just always look forward to kicking the wah on because I know it will be an inspiration.GReat Job Geoffrey.I know it is a labor of Love and it shows in your products.

Strat - Picture Wah - Vibe Unit - AnalogMan SunFace NKT 275 - Fulldrive 2 - Analogman BiComp - Retro-Sonic Chorus - Bogner Duende. Way the best Wah ever! I tried many. Fulltone Deluxe: pretty good for studio work - I can imagine using this for some studio work - but does not really cut through live in a band. New Voxes and Dunlops: cold, even somehow digital. I also tried a RMC 2 which also is a very good wah but is a bit more mellow at some settings. So it's a matter of taste.
But to me the Picture Wah ist THE Wah. Step on it and it is all there. Uuuuuaaaaahhhh. Exactly like the old Cream and best Hendrix. Deep bass goes to very smooth yet punchy mids and ends in a biting but never shrill or harsh Sound. Excellent smooth progress thru all the frequencies. It does not really sound like it has a volume boost. It just takes over your volume and also the original guitar sound very organic when you step on it. The sound of your guitar is 100% there. Nothing but a 10.

A little bit more difficult to use, because the sweep is different. For me , I had to be more precise and gentle with the sweeping compared to my orion c wah.

The sound was the King until I found a better wah...The orion c wah does it for me. The closed thing I found to a vintage vox and better. Nothing against teese. He has one of the best wahs out there..But I am tone head. Got to have the best money can buy. And I finally found it.

The vocal presence is there. But my Orion is more transparent and doesn't change my tone like the teese does.

It's a breeze, it's a pedal like they're supposed to be made - step on it, use it. Every wah that has a lot of controls ends up losing a bit in sound quality so the less the better - and the easier.

Best Wah ever.

I had a problem that turned out to be a flaw with the bottom casing. Either it was a bit bent already or it got bent while I was playing it, but I hardly even played it out. The casing does seem strong enough, so I don't really know what happened, but it was touching the input and making it cut the sound off at times.
Mr. Teese fixed it anyway, even though most likely it was my fault, outstanding customer support.

I can't rate it high enough. Mr. Teese himself is the point of contact, very cool, he's like a legend of Wah.

Outstanding quality, true bypass, the sound is on a league of its own. There's this one very old crybaby I played once that got kind of close to the sound of this one, but still can't beat it. It's much better than my Vox, which I used to think was great because it sounds way better than the Dunlops! I feel like I've been climbing the ladder of wahs and I got to the top, at least for now...

It's a wah pedal....click it on and swing it. Nice feel....

This pedal is truly THE sound. It's very vintage sounding with deep vowel-like sounds, you remember from great recordings of old. Tried it through a multitude of 60's amps, Super Reverb, Twin Reverb, Vibrolux, even a Traynor Reverb Master with a Don Grosh Strat, Custom Shop Fender Hardtail, Schecter Strat (with Fender Abigail pickups), and it could not sound better. TRUE BYPASS like this Picture Wah is essential cause otherwise these circuits are gigantic tone suckers.

It's not the pedal if you really want that 'Shaft' thing but I don't play too much wickity wackity stuff (sounds too shrill). I love it for single notes (a la Robben Ford) and subtle smooth lows and upper mids.

The thing I like the most is that my guitars still sound like my guitars. Most wahs take over completely the sound of your guitar. To me, this wah is very MUSICAL...meaning it responds to how I play, what my style is and interprets it transparently.

I don't mean to gush this much but of all the pedals I've bought of late, this one inspires me to play guitar...that's a good feeling.

Like I said, smooth lows and highs with nothing too edgy in between. I've played other wahs...like the Fulltone Clyde which I liked but this Picture Wah just has more 'soul' and fits me better.

Some say this if voiced for single coils but many guys I know like these for their buckers. My mini hums loved it.

I play it with Fulltone FullDrive2 10th Anniversary, OCD, '69, Supa Trem, Barber LTD, Direct Drive, Launch Pad, RC Booster, Keeley SD-1, BD-2, DL4, MM4 (do these mods!!), Arion Chorus (for rotary only) - now Teese Picture Wah.

I don't know about the other wahs out there but I can't imagine them being any better than this baby

Built like a tank....and I love the whole hand built by one guy...feels like early Fulltone.

THE main reason I took the time to write this review is so you can total IGNORE the comments from the guy preceding me (Mark Quinn). It MUST be some kind of FREAK thing that he went through. If you read ANY review in ANY of the Teese Products, you will see that Geoffrey Teese actually cares about his products and will do just about anything to keep you happy.

I wrote him an email asking him a couple of stupid, obvious questions and he wrote right back with all the info I needed in a kind, human tone that makes you just want to support this guy.

Again, don't believe this last guy....my guess is that nothing was going to make him happy. And even he LOVED how it sounded...what does that say about Teese products.

I play all styles but most rock/pop, contemporary worship music.

I would not only buy another one if this one is lost, I plan on buying other models just so I can have other flavors.

Listen....there is a benefit to paying a bit more for HAND BUILT stuff. Although other pedals have a certain magic, it's nice to know this was not on a big assembly line where they try to save pennies to make more money. This guy put his name on these...I don't think he wants it to stand for crap.

Typical traditional type wah with a medium throw.I'd rather see the 9V apaptor jack positioned above the output jack, but no big deal.
It sounded great when I first got it. Quiet and a nice sweep, without being shrilly and icepicky when fully depressed.

Dr Z Maz 38 Sr 2X12, Carr Rambler, old Twin Reverb, Vox AC-30. As I said, this wah sounded great when I first got it. I compared quite a few and liked this the best

The on/off switch broke soon after I bought it. The wah would either shut off or develop a loud hum now and then when the switch was depressed. At first, I though it might be a cable or: but when I got the time to really check it out, it turned out to be the switch.

For those of you who have mentioned that Mr. Teese has cordially answered your questions, all I can say is I really hope nothing goes wrong with your pedal. When I emailed him about the switch he gave me 3 options: 1) Try to fix it myself, 2)Send the pedal back with $13 to pay for shipping back to me, 0r 3) send him $9 and he'd send a new switch. When I told him that I didn't believe that any of these options was really acceptable for a brand new pedal that I just spent $235 for, he became defensive to the point of paranoia. He even said that he was not paid for the wah by Junior's Music in CT because they had a major fire. I found this store on his own website as a certified Teese dealer, and his not getting paid had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the new pedal I bought broke almost immediately. I will also mention that it never left my house, and I played it maybe 3 times for a total of about 1/2 hour before it broke. In comparison, a few months ago I received a new Zendrive from Alfonso Hermida that had a problem with the 9V adaptor. He immediately sent me a new one and the money to cover shipping the first one back to him. When I mentioned this to Mr. Teese, his response was that Alf Hermida must have a better service department. NO KIDDING! As the emails between us got a little saltier, I realized that this is one arrogant, nasty man.

I've been playing for 43 years,professionally or semi-pro for 40 of those years,and this is without a doubt THE worst customer service I've had to deal with for a musical product. Maybe I should just be glad I never bought a Blues Pearl amp, but is is just really bad PR.

I am using Anderson droptops through the pic wah, analog man comp, Keeley ds-1, foxy fuzz, into a divided by 13 ftr-37. You cannot get this sound with any other wah!!

I had a switch problem that I think started when I demo-ed the wah before purchasing it. Unless you step very hard on the pedal, the switch wouldn't trip. Sometimes it would cut the sound out completely until you stepped on it again. After about 4 or 5 months the switch just stopped tripping. Mr. Teese is replacing the switch as I write this. He is very responsive to his customers. He is one of the best at taking care of his customers!

No better wah, no where, no how! I tried to use a cry baby while this one was being repaired...I'd rather have no wah at all. I've been spoiled.

Very easy to use... Guitar in, out to amp, and an external 9v power input... The treadle is easy to use and the drag can be adj. by a screw inside... The on, off switch can be adj. as well ...

Well here is where it gets interesting... This has to be the best sounding "VINTAGE STYLE" wah out there !!!! I have tried many including the Fultone Clyde, the new Vox Clyde McCoy, Dunlop Cry Baby Fasel and quite a few others... Hands down the Teese Picture Wah is KING !!! Not noisy or really over done in any catagory, with a normal (NOT TOO LONG )throw, and very "VOWELY", the Picture Wah no bass mush and no ice pick highs ... it just sounds like the old wah's of the sixties... it also works well with any pickup type... for me, its the end of my wah quest !!!

I have not owned it a long time (3 months) but I cant imagine a problem with anything other than the switch going bad from " OVER USE " !!!! Its, "BUILT LIKE A TANK" !!!! I would use it without a backup for sure !!!!

I play in a blues, rock, soul cover band... and played guitar for decades... I would replace this wah in a heartbeat if it were stolen... there is nothing about this pedal I dont love... GREAT TONE is its own reward... and I play better because of it... I try to keep a small amount of high quality gear and this pedal fits in perfectly... Giving this pedal enything but a "10" would be a crime IMHO !!! Please go out and find one of these to try.... you will be transported back in time to the "GOLDEN ERA OF WAH" !!!!!

As anyone who has ever used a wah wah pedal knows, it takes a bit of practice to master one. The Picture Wah has that sweet spot that we are all looking for. Once found, and with a little bit of practice, it's not too difficult to get great sounds.

I use a '62 Strat through a Mesa Boogie Mark I Reissue (with an Ayan Smooth & Slim). Some of my other effects are a FoxRox CC2, Foxrox Paradox TZF, Fulltone Full-Drive 2, Fulltone '70, Keeley Compressor, Keeley modified Blues Driver BD-2, Keeley modified Boss CE-2, Barber DD, EH Deluxe Memory Man and, of course, a Teese PW.

The Teese Picture Wah is phenomenal. I have been playing on and off for 35 years and have been looking for "that sound" since the 70's. I used to have a lot of vintage pedals back in the day but sold most of them back then because I was a poor musician and needed the money. I still have an old VOX but it sounds like crap so it's pretty much unusable.

I began looking for the "perfect" wah wah and tried everything I could find. Upon searching the Internet, I heard about the Teese RMCs. I tried the RMC2 and RMC3 at my local distributor in Denver. I really liked the sound of these wah wah's but wanted to try the PW before I finally decided.

I emailed Geoffrey with some questions and he answered me immediately. He convinced me that the sound I was describing was in the Picture Wah. I started calling all the Teese distributors until I found the PW and ordered it. When I got it, I was totally blown away. This thing is exactly what I have been searching for.

The Teese PW is built very solid. I took it apart to install a Foxrox Wah Retrofit and was very impressed with the build quality of this pedal.

My only complaint is about the distributor I bought it from (Music Arts Enterprise). The Picture Wah they sent me had a bent up bottom plate. I had to take it off and try to straighten it out. It looked like it was a floor demo or something. Besides the bottom plate being bent up, everything else looks perfect so I decided to keep it (and besides the PW are hard to find).

Also, the picture on the bottom plate was torn up so Geoffrey was kind enough to send me a new picture to replace the torn one and it looks almost brand new again.

Geoffrey Teese is a gem! He answered all my emails in a timely fashion. He is very helpful and a pleasant person to deal with. I am confidant that if I have any problems with my PW that he will take care of it.

I play mostly Blues, Blues Rock and some Fusion. As I said previously, I have played on and off for 35 years. Just recently I decided to get back into playing after being away from the guitar for about 5 years. I knew it would take some motivation so I first had to decide what I was going to play (I didn't want to go off in 10 different directions as I have done in the past). I decided to relearn some old Hendrix songs and stick with my Blues roots and hence my search for some nice "vintage" effects.

The Teese Picture Wah is one of my greatest inspirations. Every time I plug it in, I grin and try to play "Still Raining, Still Dreaming." If it was lost or stolen, I would buy another immediately. I am thinking about buying a backup just in case anything does happen to it. I like it that much!

Rock back and forth with your foot, it's very easy.

I play a Strat, a Les Paul and an old Bob Weir model Ibanez (pretty much the same dual humbucker sound as the Les Paul but quite a bit louder actually), through either a Flextone III, a small Marshall or a Fender. I don't use any other effect pedals at all, just guitasr into wha into amp. This pedal sounds great with any combination of the above. you can get that classic Clapton Live Cream Vol. 2 sound with this pedal. I also got a Bad Love from 24 nights sound using the Strat, Fender amp combo. I don't notice any tone degredation when the pedal is off either.

So far so good, but I haven't had it that long. It's all metal and it does weigh a bit. It appears to have all top quality components. Every other review I've read give it top reliability scores, so who am I to differ? Until it proves otherwise I'm going to have to give it a top score as well

I contacted Geoffrey by e-mail the day he got back from two weeks out of the shop and he replied to me the next day. He told me about the different pedals and gave me some suggestions for which one would fit my style best. Look around at what everyone else has to say about this guy. I've never seen such overwhelmingly positive feedback, ever.

I play alot of styles of music but I guess it's all blues in the end. I've benn playing for close to thirty years now. I started in the late seventies with a Cry Baby then switched to a Morley, but I stopped using a wha wha pedal about fifteen years ago. Something made me want to try one again and I chose RMC because of all the positive feedback. I was not disapointed. The first time I set up and used this pedal I actually started laughing. It was Trower at the Orpheum in '79 all over. Top notch stuff; go get one, you'll be a very happy guitar player.

It is a Wah, plug and Play

I am using a Fender strat that doesn't sound like a Fender at all, it has a dark bottomed sound that everyone loves.Mind you some people have offer me Gibsons, T andersons, etc for trade for this one.I changed the pick up to T anderson, two singles and one Humbucker, yeah, it sounds cool.Then it was send to be modded by VoodooAmps.
The amp is also a Modded Mesa Tremoverb (By VoodooAmps too) and the list of my effects are, in no specific order:
Teese Wah, Budda wah( a friend that i liked, but is now collecting dust),germ prescription booster - overdrive, voodoo Labs sparkle Drive-Tc electronic chorus -f,eharmonix (american)phaser, wanna buy it? i am not using it much, Guyatone Delay.

Well, here it is,this is the best money i have ever spent on anything i have ever bought musically.

This wah has tone for days , years , u name it.
It has some kind of grawl into it, but at the same time it is defined , creamy, i can't really ut it in words, it vomits, i know creamy and vomits in the same sentence???? YES it is like a conjuction of both worlds.

I can't praise it enough, it is the best ever.

I friend of mine, which has great taste when it comes to sound , has a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, he called me and showed it to me. Yes it sound good, but compare to this beast, it sounds like a Toy to me and my ears.

This Picturre Wah is the Shitznitz, this is the wah.
The range is all usable, no shrieking highs, no loose bottom, which it has plenty , it is just so perfect!!!!

I compared it with my own Budda, Vox and my friend's Fulltone Clyde DEluxe, i find them average sounding now, i couldn't use any of those now, they are like toys and the Fulltone looks like a very expensive toy to me

Pretty easy rock back and forth. Although the more i play with this the more i see there is more to it than just rocking back and forth there is actually some skill to know how to use it right!

My set up is as follows: Gibson SG Standard->Dyna Comp->Teese Picture Wah->Ibanez TS-808(reissue)->Boss PH-3->Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 401. But I do constantly switch these around like wah->TS808-> dynacomp or any of a thousand other ways. My amp is noisy on its own for some reason and I dont know how to fix it add the dynacomp=more noise, TS808=even more noise, now add the Wah=whole shit load of noise!! The wah by itself seems to add a quite a bit of noise but its not too bad on the clean channel but any distortion makes it noisy(a real loud hiss is probably the best way to discribe it). It also picks up a radio station from time to time which is odd. But my Dunlop GCB-95 was noisy and just the other day it actually picked up a radio station. Heres an interesting side note: The Picture Wah has a true bypass and I used the test of taking the battery out and playing thru it with no battery and this Wah works as long as you dont try to turn it on by stepping on it, but my Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 I paid $90 does the same thing! Just food for thought

Hell yeah I can depend on this pedal! I would gig without a back up but its always nice to have a spare one so i'd bring along my Crybaby just for shits and giggles.

I emailed Mr. Teese numerous times about the radio reception problem and he promptly emailed me back telling me he could fix it if i wanted him to. Which I declined because he said it may affect the sound slightly. I've never dealt with any company/person that gives so much support for their products, its un-friggin-real!

Overall a good pedal. The only thing I wish I had done was bought the RMC-1, Wizard Wah, Picture Wah and the RMC-3 all at once tried them all and then returned all but then one I thought was the best. I live in Maine and no ones sells them nearby, there is one place an hour south of me but i never got a response to see if you can go there and try there products. If it were stolen i may buy the same one or a different model but i would stay with Teese. I play classic rock (crunchy kind) AC/DC, Zepp, but also jam to the Dead, Phish, Strangefolk. So i play pretty much everything. I hope this review helps.

Its a plain wah, nothing extra to set, worked and sounded great right out of the box. Just play with your hands and dance with your feet!

I use digital products, a V-Amp 2 and Guitar Rig. I ran it clean & dirty. It has a vintage sound for sure. You can get Clapton with it, Beck, Hendrix, the usual, but it has its own voice. It sounds liquidy and even, not shrill. VERY clean and quiet. I only use echo/reverb with wah, sounds great. No noticeable volume boost when turned on or off.

It's in the vintage style casings which could be problematic with regards to the treadle. I had problems with a Dunlop once. The treadle may have been set too tight or something, as a result the action literally seized up. Since the RMC's are handmade, though, I'm not really concerned. There are adjustments that you can make to the treadle to suit your liking. Besides that, its built like a tank.

This is where it all comes together. Geoffrey answered all my questions and then some. He kept in touch before, during and after I got the wah. I've never received such outstanding customer support from anyone. This was important as I purchased my Picture Wah online and I needed to feel assured as to what I was buying.

I like all kinds of music (except country) but I like to play rock.
I'd say this pedal covers a full spectrum of styles with no problem. I have a Parker Fly Supreme and I use Guitar Rig and a V-Amp 2 for home use. I would buy another one in a second if lost or stolen. It took a quite a while to get one as there is a waiting list, but sometimes you have to wait to get quality. I compared this with almost all the Dunlops and the Fulltone, and the Picture Wah beats them all hands down. The Dunlops are a little less money and the Fulltone is a lot more. I'd recommend this pedal to anyone who likes to wah!

plug and play! just the bit where your using your foot would be the only difficult part but thats up to how u want to use it? and maybe experience? great fun either way, its very smooth and comfortable to use

It's one of those musical items you will buy and never regret! that wonderful Hendrix Wah sound is all there with all the warm and character! I use it with a 1993 Fender Strat Plus with gold sensor lace pickups, I also have a Custom Epiphone Les Paul with Seymour Duncans

What was that review about getting a Boss V Wah instead?? crazy? its a good idea with its features but for wah sounds it trys to simulate, its nowhere near as good as the real thing. If your looking for that classic 60's sound, this is one of the very best ones for you, those who might complain about it not suiting their music? do research before you buy stuff!, decide on what wah sound you really like and go get the right one, maybe a different RMC will suit you etc. I choose the Picture Wah because I love classic Wah sounds! don't put the it down for the reason that it didn't work with the type of music you play? theres different Wah's out there! This Wah is Quailty, in all areas, especially if your looking for a Hendrix type wah sound, its the best Wah I have personally heard, first time I heard it, after hearing several (Crybaby, Vox, Morley etc) I knew this was the ONE for me, the sound I was searching for!

You can't complain about whats inside this unit and how its built, its put together by a guy who knows his stuff and creates what a guitarist really wants. Its all quailty, and im not sure if u could break its case? but im not going to try! I shall be taking great care of mine, I depend on it anyway

I like messing with different types of music but if I had to pin-point myself as a guitar player, I'd say I have that classic rock/blues style at heart type player, I'm into the music of Hendrix, Zeppelin, the Who, Pink Floyd, John Lee Hooker, Eric Clapton for an idea of my influnces

Even if you are not into classic rock, blues etc. this pedal just sounds great, u must try one, it has a big personality

magical, vocal quality, really get lost in it. setup - old strats, 68 plexi 100, 65 deluxe. I also have an rmc3le (and used to have a plain rmc3). If you want the sound of the picture wah, get it. I could not replicate the sound of the picture wah with an rmc3le - after setting it up as on Geoffrey's website to get the picture wah sound.

A piece of cake to get a good wah tone. Super Warm and tasty. This is what a wah is supposed to sound like.

I play a gibson les paul studio with paf 57's replacing the stock pickups. My amp is a Mesa Mark 3 Simulclass.

I have to say that this is the SHIZNIT!!!!!! This wah has changed my whole tonal pallette in a great way. I hope I can get at least 30 bucks for my stupid dunlop cry baby at my yard sale next weekend.

Is any wah pedal easy to use? Well that's not for me to judge.
I've heard musicians make magic with them, but I've also heard/seen some nerds really mess up their show with them too! Easy to use?
No I don't think wahs are easy to use at all.
You certainly do have to work at it, and I'm no exception, I'm learning all the time...

This is certainly the richest and most "alive" sounding wah I've used to date, and that makes it a keeper for me.
I tried a reissue Vox 847 some years ago, and it sounded good when using it, but it wrecked my tone when bypassed.
This is the ONLY reason why I bought a Fulltone Clyde, because of it's true bypass. I mean the Fulltone was ok, but I didn't use it much during sets, just one or two songs, 'cause of it's pretty mediocre sound... I think the Fulltone is more suited to hotter pickups or even Humbuckers...
However I use Vintage type Strat single coils, made by Harry Haussel (Germany) in a Schecter S series Strat, playing a lot of Texas blues in Stevie Ray's style, plus a lot of other bluesy rocky stuff too.
And the Picture Wah fits perfect for these styles I think.
And it has true bypass, which really is a good thing in a wah, but the use of true bypass in other pedals, has been overhyped quite a bit in recent years.
I mean, Ibanez and Boss, make pedals with great transparent buffered bypasses. OK I wouldn't put loads of 'em together, but one or two will actually improve your tone when using long cable runs.
Putting several true bypass pedals together will however ruin your tone... But in a wah it's really useful.

I do not use a back up, 'cause if it does break down in the middle of a gig, I'll finish the gig without it. I play guitar, a wah pedal is just a useful legal doping additive! (But the very best I've heard to date).
I had to adjust the tension of the metal strap that gives the rocker a firm feel, it wasn't allowing the switch to push the rocker back up to it's place of rest.
But I ain't nigglin', this is something I wouldn't bother Mr. Teese for, he's doing his best, he's probably a busy man, and I can do these little things myself.
Other than that, yes, I will depend on it.

Geoffrey Teese seems to me, to be a really nice guy, who has a genuine interest in making you happy in all things wah!
I chose the Picture Wah on his recommendation, and he was right.
Yes he's real helpful, and doesn't seem to put himself on a higher level like some other pedal makers do. I don't like people who adorn themselves with the achievements of the famous people who buy their pedals. Geoffrey Teese will treat you just like any other customer, I'm sure.

fender mim strat w/texas special singles and a steve's special hum in the bridge. Carvin v-16 amp(underated get one!). No more farty bass or
spikey treble. Great sweep range.Now my VooDoo Chile sound like VooDoo Chile not Shaft. More vowel like rather than quacky.

Opened it up, looks solid and well built. All quality parts, nothing cheap. If I could afford a back-up I would get one, but a bit on the pricey side. Usually I'll buy two of any pedal that I love, and leave it in the box incase they stop making them,but this one is going to take awhile for me to buy a extra one. Not becaue of reliability concerns but because of my own mental issues.

Have'nt needed it so far.

Like me, if you've never quite got the right wah sound, but settled for whatever wah you were using,sell whatever you have to and get this wah now! I will not give this wah a 10 because there still may be something out there better,BUT my search is over!

Easy as pie.

I am playing a PRS McCarty into a couple of modded Boss pedals, Line 6 MM4 and Dl4 into a Line 6 Flextone 2 head. I'm in the process of upgrading my board from right to left. I have the Teese first in line. Its replacing a Crybaby that dumped on me mid-gig. I went purely based on reviews and research I did online. It is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Super-musical, versatile and no-brain simple. That may sound strange coming from a seeming Line 6 devotee but I really am not into tweeking. It is quiet and sounds fantastic.

I took it apart and it is very well made. I used to work at PRS in electronics. I'd gig without a backup.

A friend of mine has dealt with him and speaks very highly of him. I don't expect to contact him directly.

Although a Wah is not the most complicated circuit it is a delicate balance of many components. Mr. Teese has done his homework. If you find yourself in my situation I highly recommend donating your Wah to a friend and putting your trust and money in the hands of someone who has worked it ALL out.

Very user friendly! More so than commercial Wah-wahs. "If the Wah is Rock'in....don't bother Knock'n!" Hard bypass.Very transparent - you won't get that nasty cotton,muffled,loading on the front end.In fact, you may not notice it's in your signal chain.

My kit is JEM 777 & various Strats into a MESA-BOOGIE Mark IIIC.The Picture Wah can do all the classic Hendrix & Clapton sounds.No noise....very Vocal....Quacks like a Duck! Teese has managed to hit the sweet,musicial, spots of the Wah spectrum.That orgasmic G-Spot,that we all crave.

That being said, what you WON'T get is the: "Chalk-on-the-Blackboard-Speaker Destroying" treble boost that commerical Wah's give you.

I e-mailed Mr. Teese with the details of my set-up,etc.I was considering getting the WIZARD WAH.He promptly replied,and recommended either the PICTURE WAH or the WIZARD WAH. Bar none,this is the BEST Wah I have ever played.It is VERY musicial, and has an excellent vocal quality that must be "Experienced"...(pun intended) to be believed.

So how good it it Blind Master Po? Well, Grasshopper....I sold my 30 year old Wah-wah collection after getting this one.I plan to get several more from RMC.Several guitar slinging buddies have asked:"WTF are you using for a Wah,Dude?"

I wish it had a LED....but it would be like a Tit on Whale! Ya'don't really need it with this sound quality.And ya' probably won't know when it's in the loop anyway until ya' step on it.

i couldnt believe my ears the first time i plugged in this wah. i have tried alot, and i mean alot of different wahs, and the picture wah, hands down is the best sounding wah in the world. its funny, because the pic wah is a clyde "clone" or whatever...in any case, my buddy with his vox clyde reissue pretty much crapped himself when he heard the sound of this beautiful grey hammertone box.

well, ive only had it for a little bit, but it seems solid, and feels solid when im freaking out on top of it...should hold up just fine, and i know if i ever had any problems, geoff would hook it up.

ok, heres where i was sold...i had been emailing geoff asking questions and such, and told him i decided to go with the picture wah. i left my phone # in the email in case he wanted to talk to me directly for ordering and stuff...he called me just a short time after that, and talked to me for quite some time...over an hour anyway...all i hafta say is this: CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i felt a special connection with the wah before it was even built. i just knew it was gonna blow me away.

i play everything from funk/fusion, to blues, some jazz, and instrumental improv. this pedal is a keeper for sure...i love this wah, and i dont think after hearing/using it, that id ever use anything else.

I was suprised that this pedal is NOT very noisy through my setup. Not weak at all - nice vintage, full sweep. Sounds good for clean & distortion settings.

Very reliable & well built - no problems. I don't think you would need a backup unless you were totally rough on the pedal, like Hendrix was (he carried many backups since he put his entire weight on it while playing).

Geoffrey Teese is the King of Wahs! Excellent response times to questions and wouldn't hesitate to upgrade or repair.

Very musical & compatible with any type of playing. I would replace this pedal if it were stolen. If you are searching for a QUALITY wah pedal, this is it. You will not be disappointed.

It is simple to use as far as wahs go, but of course it takes some skill to really use any wah effectively. Many other wahs have more tweakability, but this one comes with optimal sweep, center and Q, so I don't miss the extra knobs at all. I am deducting some points for the on/off switch being under the foot treadle. Every manufacturer has always done it that way, but it's still a bad idea.

This is the classic sound that everyone is looking for. If I could change anything, it would be the noise level, but that seems to be a given with wahs. Still, this is the quietest wah I have ever used and I haven't noticed any problems with radio frequency interference.

I bought one of the first prototypes used from a dealer. I noticed popping problems with the switch right away, but this is forvgivable considering the cirmustances. Other than that, everything seems pretty solid. Wahs have inherent weaknesses because of all the moving parts, but that is just the nature of the beast. If that bothers you, go buy a Pod and learn to live with mediocre tone.

This is why I am writing a review. When I sent an email to ask about a problem, I got a response within the hour! Not only that, Geoffrey sent a replacement part within a couple of days. The amazing thing is, that despite the fact that the warranty only covers the original owner, he took care of it anyway. This quality of service is a rarity.

Just go buy one, and thank me later.

A/B'ed this pedal with (2)Fasal inductor italian wahs, TDK inductor Cry Baby, TDK inductor Vox Wah, Vintage colorsound wah, newer Dunlop Jen Wah, Original Vox Clyde, Brown (stack of dimes) inductor Cry Baby wah, Fulltone Clyde, Vox reissue V847 & V848.

The Teese is hands down the quietest and most dynamic of them all. Great vocal quality on the bottom end , perfect sweep range (just the perfect amount of high freqency sweep). Smoother than an original Vox clyde (and the example I had was in my opinion the ultimate wah).

There is a lot of factors concerning construction of the wah circuit, every component must be matched just right. If this were easy (I've tried and modified many circuits) everyone would be selling the ultimate wah. Please give credit to Mr. Teese for his extraordinary efforts and stop complaining about the high price tag. Apparently he's got the ultimate formula and NOBODY else does. Listen with your ears not your pocket book or mind cluttering reviews like these.

Only the Carling DPDT switch gave me problems. I've used these switches in the pedals I make and they are unfortunately very low quality with high failure rate (very frustrating to pedal makers).

I had an initial problem with the switch, but it was immediately solved by Geoffrey himself. I wish I had waited before I posted my first review on this site, but I take it all back. This guy could write the book on customer care.

This is a follow up to an earlier posting, where I had a problem with the switch. The update: I emailed the company on a SUNDAY, and had a personal response from Geoffrey Teese almost immediately. He provided directions to a fix, and now I am clam happy.

This is how it should be done. Kudos to Geoffrey - you make an outstanding product, and you back it up amazingly.

For that delicious vintage wah sound, this is the one. End of story.

It's a Wah - dead simple.

When it works, it sounds great - the kudos are well deserved. The main reason I got this was for the true bypass, so it would work with my germanium fuzz (my Crybaby decidedly did not), but it really is a great sounding Wah.

Here's where we run into trouble. The first one I bought had a terrible crackling/radio receiving noise with the toe down position (effect activated). I took it back to the store where it was confirmed to be a dud, and brought home another one that didn't have that problem. BTW, this was not NORMAL buzzing. I know what that is, and this was much worse, as the store confirmed.

Now, the NEW one I have at home is cutting out occasionally when I turn the effect off. Very disappointing for a new $350 (CAN$) pedal, especially since the store (Songbird in Toronto) doesn't have any more. Seems like some QC is in order...

Sadly, I guess I'll find out...

It's a great sounding Wah, no question about it. Hopefully, I can get this intermittent problem solved, and begin to rely on it.

I'm using it with (among other TB effects) a Fulltone '69, so I may end up adding the FOXROX mod, but I haven't decided yet.

It's a traditional wah. Quiet switching, smooth action, full usable range.

Excellent. It's got a sweet, vocal, vintage tone. Very expressive. No dead spots or bumps in the tone range. The entire sweep and tone range are useful, no farty lows, harsh highs, or honking or bumped mids. The pedal has unity gain, so there is neither a boost or a loss of signal gain when it is engaged. The organic and "transparent" tone (transparent in that it doesn't disguise the character of your guitar), and the unity gain and good switching make this pedal excellent for peppering rythm and lead playing with wah accents. These attributes make this wah very versitile: use it for all out wah, or seamlessly switch it in and out. This pedal nails the vintage wah tone, better than any wah I've used. I wanted a wah that would do the Hendrix and Clapton 60's sound, and also be a great wah for clean rythm playing, and this wah does both exceedingly well. This is my set-up: a Strat or a Tele to the Teese Picture Wah, to an EH Poly Chorus, to an EH Q-Tron, to a DeltaLab Effectron, to amp, either a Rivera R100 twin combo or a Rivera S120 stack, or a Gibson Falcon for recording. I'm currently playing in a reggae/funk band, and the Picture Wah is great for the clean wah sounds charcteristic of these styles.

Very solid: the case is a Dunlop CryBaby case, all top-notch vintage-correct components, a superior Teese potentiometer, a true-bypass switch, all hand bulit by Mr. Teese. Dunlop CryBabies are pretty bomb-proof, so this wah should be even superior as it is hand-built by a master wah guru. As far as a back-up, I don't think it's needed with this unit. I carry my own gear, and I've already got enough stuff to shlep around without carrying dupIicates; I don't get this whole thing about carrying a backup for every pedal, etc. I carry extra fuses, tubes, cables, batteries, and strings. I check and maintain all of my gear regularly, and I wouldn't bring a piece of gear to a live gig if I didn't have confidence in it. I can't see this thing going down.

Teese is great. He's very accessable, happy to answer questions, quick to respond, cares about the needs and satisfaction of players and cutomers. He's driven to create the best reproduction he can of the Italian Vox Clyde McCoy, and he's really succeeded with this pedal. When you deal with Teese, you deal with the man himself, and it seems to me that he's competely into what he's doing. I would much rather supprt Teese than some big corporation making a mass produced product for a few dollars less, and I'd much rather deal with the actual designer and builder of my pedal that some faceless generic customer service dpertment at a corporation. Teese is top-notch all around.

Works great for hard-rock, blues, funk, and reggae--all the styles I play and use it for....there may be other models better suited for the super-high-gain-triple-rectifier pop-rock, but for traditional wah-wah this is great. I've been playing since I was in short-pants, about 20+ years, and it's the best wah I've had...I've had it for about 6 month now, and I couldn't see playing without it. I would get another one, or maybe a RMC 3, if I lost this one....I thought about this, and the other alternative I've considered for replacing it if I had to would be to find a actual vintage McCoy or CryBaby, or maybe build-up my own from an older wah with parts (that would be a fun project). The price on these may seem high, but when considering the price of the vintage wahs, and the time and costs of building-up one yourself, I think that I would go with RMC/Teese again. The other wah that would be an option would be the Fulltone, and with the choice between Teese or Fulltone you've got two great flavors of great wahs....Teese has the nice touch of looking like an older wah, plus it's a picture wah with a picture of Geoffrey Teese's face on the bottom instead of Clyde McCoy's face--another nice touch (but has nothing to do with tone). If you have the opportunuity to actually play the Teese and the Fulltone side-by-side you should, just to see which one speaks to you more, but if you're looking for a really great straight forward traditional wah, the Picture Wah is it. I can't imagine someone being unhappy in this wah, unless they were looking for a modern modified wah, which is really a different animal. This wah helps me be much more expressive with my playing; I can't see playing wiyhout it, where in the past with other wahs I've had I could take-them-or-leave-them due to the mixed-bag of tone effect that they give (harsh highs, bumped-mids), but the Picture Wah really adds a lot and is very useful for both lead and rythm work, both clean and dirty. Thank you Mr. Teese!

Well, it's a basic wah, everything feels smooth, easy to switch......can't get easier than that.

Sound quality is excellent. Switching is quiet. Very vocal, very vintage tone. Very full and usable sweep, excellent tone throughout the range of its sweep. Not harsh on the top, not flabby on the bottom, no mid humps. The pedal is set for a unity gain, so it works really well for seemless switching in and out to pepper your rhythm and lead playing with wah-wah accents. etc. Due to the unity gain structure, quiet switching, and smooth, organic, transparent yet musical and expressive tone, this is a great and fun pedal to integrate tastefully and sparingly, or use full on. If you like a vintage 60's/70's rock and funk tones, this pedal is great.

The pedal seems to be built very well. I think it's going to be as durable as any good Cry Baby pedal. The housing is a Dunlop Cry Baby housing, and these have a good track record. Short of dropping it off of a building or driving over it with a truck, I can't imagine breaking it. The internal construction looks pretty good, simple and clean (although there are some "hanging chads" around the punced-out hole that the gear assembly travels through from the pot to the pedal...this will not effect the function of the pedal, but from a "boutique" bulid aesthetc it's a little odd to see). The only problem I've had with it is with the by-pass switch. Mine is from late 2002, and it has the new switch Teese is using (as far as I know, unless he's changed switches) that has a blue square plastic base (this is not the older and common Carling switch, and I've seen switches that look exactly like this blue switch in some Electro-Harmonix pedals). The switch will occassionally cut-out the signal when being switched. This doesn't happen very often, and when it does it requires another quick stomp to get the signal back, so it's two quick stomps, but it's a random occurance. It's intermittent, and it doesn't happen very often, but when it does it's an annoyance. After contacting Teese about this I was advised to raise the switch in relation to the body (I guess this ensures more force being applied to the switch), but the problem still occurs, plus, when the swtich is raised there is less switching resistance and that makes the switching action too light for my taste. I thought at first that it was me not pressing hard enough on the switch, but it does it with harder stomps as well as lighter stomps. One thing I will say is that it seems to be occuring less than before, so it may be a matter of the switch being broken in, but it still happens occasionally. Obviously I got a bunk switch. This happens, and I don't fault the pedal or Teese for it, it's a faulty component, but unfortunately is does effect the relaibility. I think probably the switch slipped through the switch factory's quality control, and being as it's an intermittent thing Teese probably didn't catch it. If I was to do a high profile gig with this pedal, I would install a new switch. This is ironic as my understanding is that Teese has started to use these switches as he feels that they are better than what he can get from Carling, but I've never had a problem with a Carling switch, and I'll probably switch it out for a Carling or a Fulltone switch when I get around to it. Right now, for what I'm doing with this pedal, I can live with it, but it's annoying, especially on a $235 pedal. I'd give it a 10 if it wasn't for this, but this switch is a problem and takes away from an otherwise excellent pedal, albeit this may be a rare occurance in that I happened to get a funky switch. BTW, other people have complained about the acousitc mechanical noise of the switching, but you can't hear it once your amp in on, so for me that is a non-issue.

Teese is very accessable and communicative, and he does seem to be on a mission to build the best wahs he can. I think he takes a lot of pride in the PIcture Wah (it's got his pricture and signature on the bottm), and the man seems to love what he's doing. He also seems to care a lot about the satisfaction of his customers, and answers e-mails himself and quickly. He did address the issue of my intermittent switch, but my impression was that he's finally found a switch that he feels is a superior switch and he has 100% faith in the performance and faultlessness of the switch. During a few e-mail exchanges where I was explaining how the switch was interemittent he advised raising the switch and that that would cure the problem, and that I had to get used to the feel of the switch (I never quite got what he meant by that). Eventually he seemed to accept that raising the switch wasn't fiixing the problem, and he offered to send me another switch for me to install. I can appreciate that Teese is doing it himself, and I think he's making a great pedal, and I support him. I can also appreciate that he must deal with a lot of anal calls and e-mails from picky "boutique" customers who feel that because they're spending $200+ on a pedal they're intitled to milk the builder's time and attention, as well. Nontheless, he is getting some bad switches (I assume that I'm not a totally isolated case), and it took a few e-mail of collective trouble shooting to finally establish that the switch wasn't working, which adds up to time on my part, and untimately more time to replace it. In the end, though, he will do what he can to resolve the probelm (offered to send a new swtich), and he's there and supportive. Also, when I was considering getting a Teese, I contacting Teese, and he was attentive to the sound I was looking for and recommended the Picture Wah, and he was right-on as far as listenting to what I was looking for a nailing it with the right rcommendation.

Excellent vintage wah tone and feel, probably better than most real vintage wahs. The switch problem with mine is probably not representative of most of the Teese pedals, so I would not let that stop you from using one. This is just a wonderful sounding wah, and it is all that it's cracked up to be. If it wasn't for my particular issue as noted above I would give it 10's across the board. If I lost it I would replace it, but I'd also check out the Fulltone Clyde. Seeing how I'm going to be doing some soldering already to make this wah work as well as it should (replace the switch), I'd also consider modding an old wah to get to this, but for wah that is as good as the best of the vintage Italian Clyde wahs, and brand new and ready to go, I really don't think there is anything out there like the Picture wah.

Just power up, plug in, and play.

This is the best wah I've tried so far. I currently own a Vox V847 Resissue and a Fulltone Clyde which are leftovers from my wah search. The Vox is very sweet sounding but is somewhat limited in its sweep compared to the Fulltone and Teese. Also, it's not true bypass and only takes batteries. To me, the Fulltone is a Vox on steroids. It sounds like the Vox but with a larger sweep which gives it more spank. The Teese Picture Wah, on the other hand, sounds a bit darker but warmer with more presence. It just sounds fatter! I suspected the Picture Wah was adding a little gain, maybe even compression, so for further comparison, I popped the back of my Fulltone and increased the bass and gain using the adjustable trimmer. After the adjustment, the Fulltone sounded more like the Teese, but not quite exactly. To my ears, the Teese has a certain raunchiness in the midrange which the Fulltone lacks. Very cool!

A side note: A tried all three wahs into a Banzai Cold Fusion for a clean boost and into a Fender Blues Jr. For some reason certain notes on the guitar would produce an annoying icepick like buzz which went away when I turned off the Cold Fusion pedal. It happened with all three wahs. I'm not sure what's going on. Is this the wah/OD interface problem I keep hearing about? E-mail me if you have any clues. Thanks!

I'm beginning to love this pedal the more I play with it. It's warm and fat, yet raunchy and aggressive at the same time. The Fulltone is also a great wah, but it sounds a bit too refined for my taste.

All wahwah's take some time to get used to it's particular sweep, also not just anyone can make a wahwah sound good. It takes practice to co-ordinate what you are doing with your hands and feet, and what u r hearing in your head. I'll give it a 10 to keep the average up. It's no easier or harder than other wahs. (Except maybe a dod wah I tried once, what a piece of crap)

I'm using 2 chained Trademark 60's (Tech 21), Ts-9 Tubescreamer, Chorus on the effects loop. I use a Floyd Rose Classic Strat.
I am nuts about hendrix and Iron Maiden basically. This thing gives a VERY authentic hendrix tone, that is to say, it is very vocal and expressive. It has a very smooth sound, and is awesome, clean, slightly dirty, chunky, or high gain. 11 out of 10. The best wah i've used.

Dunno, only just got it. I'll definately keep my colorsound as a back up 'cause things break on wahs. Wires come loose, the switch and pot aren't covered by warranty becasue these things DO wear out. True wahwah players always should have a spare.

Mr Teese is unreal. At one stage I wasn't even considering one of his wahs 'cause they cost to much. ($530NZ) He still advised me of what wahs were good, and which were bad, and what pot to use in my coloursound. I must have e-mailed him 8-9 times, b4 I told him I was buying 1 of his, and he NEVER got grumpy. This man wants you to have a great sound, and will recommend the wah u need. he seems more interested in making great wahs than he is in making money.

I'm the only guitarist in a 3 piece rythym section. We play EVERYTHING. (pub stuff) We do funk, R'n'B, Reggae, Rock, soul, motown. Mostly Rock and reggae/top 40's tho. I've bene playing about 15 years, and for the purposes of this review will state that I am pretty good. I own a colorsound which admittedly does NOT have the original pot. The colorsound while different, does get close to being as good.

Basically, I used it at a gig for the 1st time last night (the day I got it), and I was blown away. My guitar was TALKING man, and I haven't even gotten used to this thing yet!

If you want a great vocal wah, with an amazing smooth tone, JUST LIKE JIMI, then buy this. You'll never want for another wah. If this thing gets stolen (I know karate), then I will be getting one shipped here pronto. Worth EVERY penny! Thank you Geoffrey.

It's as easy as tapping your feet.

I've owned this wah for awhile now and even though I'd like to try the RMC 3 but I don't really think about it too much. So I'm pretty satisfied, and that's says a lot since I go through a ton of gear. This wah is very vocal with a wide sweep range. It gets all the funk I need, no wah sounds great with Fuzz effects however, unless you like a ton of noise. I think other wahs might be as good in a different way but I can't imagine them being better? Variety is nice but I'm content staying.

It looks tough, lasted so far but I baby my stuff. Larry at SoulCactus is great and if I had a problem I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be too hard to fix.

Overall I give it a 10 because it does what it does very well. No problems, sounds better than any wah I've heard or owned. Looks nice, should last a long time. I bit pricey but I'm not wasting my money trying out and selling wahs anymore so I guess it's a good value overall. I really hate to give out 10's for anything, especially all 10's, but I can't find any faults?
