Ease of Use : No Opinion

Sound Quality : 10
Geoffrey took my Thomas Organ Crybaby and tweaked it to sound even better than it originally did. A bit more low end and a smoother response all-around.

Reliability : 10
Checked out all the components and changed the pot to one of his famed RocPots. Much smmother and quieter sound. Plus the peace of mind knowing the pedal will always be ready to rock.

Customer Support : 10
Everything you hear is true. Geoffrey Teese is the model that all other people in the business should try to follow. Very, very fast e-mail replies. Answers all your questions clearly and doesn't try to make up your mind for you. If there was a 20 for this category he would desrve more.

Overall Rating : 10
The only thing better than having him mod one of your current pedals is to buy one of his RMC wahs. I plan on doing just that as soon as I can figure which one I want, they all sound so tempting. Look at every review for Geoffrey Teese-not one of them is less than stellar. Kind of tells you something, doesn't it ???

Super easy. You remove a multipin connector and put it into the Vox 847 wah. No soldering or trouble.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is fantastic. The tone is fatter than a pancake wrapped around a Jimmy Dean sausage dipped in chocolate butter and covered in maple syrup.

I'm a gigging pro, and this is my favorite sounding wah. It is really full sounding, dynamic and colorful. I don't give out 10s- 9 is more than enough if it's really good and useful and 10 should mean something special.

I played with the Fulltone Clyde, and I will say it is a terrifically engineered and very professional sounding wah pedal. However, what I was looking for was a little more rude and this nails it. I played an RMC1 and loved it, then I found out about this mod/upgrade kit and that sealed the deal.

Reliability : No Opinion
uhh...hmm. I guess there really isn't much that can go wrong with a Vox wah. I also switched out the pot to the Teese ROCPOT, so I think I'm pretty styling.

Okay, here's where the bread gets buttered, and I will say it without reservation: GEOFFREY TEESE IS THE CLASSIEST GUY I'VE EVER HAD THE FORTUNE OF DEALING WITH IN THE MUSIC GEAR BUSINESS. He replies to emails. He offers additional advice and help. He answers questions politely and thoroughly.

But the biggest issue: he doesn't slam or speak poorly of his competitors. What sold me on the Teese mod as opposed to the Fulltone? When he described the differences between his product and Mike Fuller's, he said Mike uses a halo inductor that's a bit more transparent whereas he uses a "stack of dimes" inductor, and then said "neither one is necessarily better than the other - it's just what you are looking for." So true.

I love this. I didn't want to sell my Vox (I love the feel and look) and buy a new wah, even though I knew the Teese sounded better. So when I saw this mod that made the deal for me. I also liked the RMC3, but I feared with all the doohickeys and tuneables a fella like me who prefers "plug and play" would get lost. Maybe one day when I have a bit more free time...

The RMC-MOD is a drop-in board replacement for the Vox v847 wah-wah pedal. Installing the board was simple; two screws, one connector. Kudos for the suggestion that the upgrade would not be complete without a true-bypass DPDT switch installed. A more complete solution might have more words associated with the schematic as well as some pointers to where a DPDT switch can be had. Providing a switch might also be a possibile improvement.

Sound Quality : 10
The upgrade is no more noisy than the original board. The overall sound is fuller, more robust. Transitions are not as smooth as the v847, however, this is an acceptable trade off for the narrow(er), more precise filter frequency control. The range of available tones is wider than stock. The highs manage to be brilliant without being brittle. The octaving/ring modulation effects last heard on my 70's Crybaby have returned. A cursory inspection of the board reveals it is similar to the v847 with a few circuit changes. Spied an old, crufty pair of metal jacketed BC109 transistors. Several capacitors and the inductor appear hand-made. The sound quality improvement is then a happy marriage of subtle circuit tuning and careful attention to component detail.

Customer Support : 10
Whatever the v847 shortcomings, it had a very wide, smooth sweet spot. With the RMC-MOD, the sweet spot is still there. However, the range is narrower and crowded up towards the front of the pedal. For a slow learner like me, it was presenting mechanical challenges. Geoffrey called me long distance on his nickel, listened patiently, and came up with a component change suggestion that put the pedal spot on. He also reminded me that his RMC3 pedal has this type of flexibility and customization built-in.

Overall Rating : 10
The Geoffrey Teese RMC-MOD is a fantastic value. We are making beautiful music together.
