This review is actually for the " RMC1 Guts" model. It's in an old crybaby shell but it was installed by Mr. Teese himself and the logo at the toe is the holograph RMC logo and it has the signed sticker on the bottom. This is a Teese wah.
It's loud. There is a noticeable boost happening. My rig includes: Strat>> high gain fuzz>> RMC1 wah>> analog delay>> 100watt Plexi. I get the sickest sounds I've ever heard from any wah. The mid sweep on this thing sounds OBSCENE! It's an X-Rated wah. It's versatile, good for fuzz sounds or clean sounds. Sometimes, like many wahs I've tried, It's not so good BEFORE a dirt box or a dirty amp, without another dirt pedal or boost box to drive it. This is likely an ordinary impedance issue. I may add a Foxrox wah buffer to the circuit to correct this. I removed the rubber stoppers for more sweep and adjusted the pot (Roc-Pot) for more treble and now its perfect.
I have a heavily modded Vox V847, and vintage and new crybabys. My Vox has a softer more organic sound, but it doesn't drive or reliability of the RMC1. The old TDK Crybabys have a cool gritty sound but still don't come close. The Teese beats them all in the best overall category.

I own five wahs and the Teese is the only one I DON'T have problems with. All my other wahs, like most of wahs, have some kind of issue. The Teese does not leave the pedalboard. Wiring is very neat with military crimped wires, and hand soldered turrets on the circuit board. Alpha brand DPDT.

He says the RMC1 is muddy with humbuckers but I've never had any problems. It has a thicker sound with my Les Paul but that's fine.

Setup = 84 American Strat equipped w Noiseless pickups, 91 Charvel w Dimarzio Area 58 and 61 pickups, or 73 Ibanez Les Paul copy equipped with Seymour Duncans. All w gauge 10s. Crate Palomino v32 212. Connect by itself with monster cables and thru my Carl Martin Combinator 2 with George L cables. Also tested with Vox Pathfinder model v9158, Fender FM 100 head, Marshall MG 250 DFX.
Sound = Great sounding wah. I tested against my Jimi Hendrix wah, regular Dunlop wah, and my old Morley fuzz/wah pedal. This wah kick all those others to the curb. Not noisy but it can pickup a lot of hum if place close to a power source (in this case my Carl Martin Combinator 2). Works well with a Voodoo Power Pedal 2.
It sounds great on the bridge pickup off my strat type guitars and les paul types. I can get that "Let's get it on" and "Voodoo Chile" sounds easily.

I have had to adjust the on / off switch. It started to squeal because the switch need to be tightened. Other than that its an awesome pedal. You can gig without a backup.

if it were stolen I would definitely replace it with another one or newer model. The most vocal wah I have ever played.

How difficult can this be, ........except if you want to tweak.....but I don't. That said, it takes time to get the technique together of how much roll to your foot and also matching the wah to your position on the fret board - further up and it sounds richer and eventually makes little difference.

I have no other experience of WAHs I bought this on reputation - mine number is under 300 and I guess an early model - sounds great, very expressive - no detectable icepick in the ear stuff. I play around in the middle settings and just leave it for a vocorder type effect. I have it wired into a board on 9v supply and it is as quiet as a mouse.

Totally so far - 4-5 years. It is very heavy and wonder if it could be trimmed a little for greater portability - still I play in England where we do not have to set up behind the chicken wire fence. If attacked, I would grab this first

I'm using this for some Eric C flavoured reggae ramblings and a touch of Slash Sweet Child - it always takes me a bit by surprise me at how sophisticated it sounds and how good I sound! One question - how do you stop that mouth-puckering-up-thing when playing through a WAH?
I would buy another if it couldn't find it's way home.
Geoffrey if you are listening - maybe a lighter frame and a led indicator please.

Great sound! Full and rich also in the lower frequencies (something that i found lacking in the Cry Baby). My Cry Baby broke after 12 years of faithful service, so I wanted to buy a new one. I tested the RMC1 against the stock Cry Baby and a VOX wah, but those sounded very thin in comparison. The slight volume boost is also very nice. I have no clue how it sounds humbuckers since I only use single coils.
My setup: stock Fender tele > RMC 1 > various other effects . RIvera Chubster 40

Hmmm....
My switch died after about 9 months of operation. This wah is in my live-rig which I only use 1-2x a week, so you can imagine that I was unpleasantly surprised. Fortunately my local store replaced it a no charge!
Apart from the switch, the unit looks well built.

I play in a ska-rock band and have been playing guitar for nearly 15 years now. I really love its sound. I discovered that you can use it on your low strings as well (whereas the Cry Baby is completely lost there), which gives a nice organ like sound.
From the tone-perspective, I would buy a new one straight away if mine got stolen. But that depends if my new switch holds for the next few years....

Bought 5 years ago -- sounds XLNT with my Strat -- but I thought it was too muddy with my Duncanised LP. (His website states that the RMC1 is better for single coil PU's than Humbuckers). With a bit of tweaking of tone pots on the amp got it right. Very Expressive! I like it better than the other .. umm black ones that everyone seems to have

Geoffrey is amazing. I emailed him with a question about the LP sound and the website writeup about single coils vs humbucker and the RMC1 -- he got back to me immediately and was extremely helpful. It is obvious that he REALLY cares about his product and the tone that it produces. He gave me instructions on a quick fix to enhance the LP sound and I now have the best Wah on the planet!!
He didn't care how old it was -- out of warranty -- whatever. Total class.

A good sound is very easy to get out of an RMC1, right away i'm not afraid to say; it's just surprising to get something that good, you suddenly have to watch what you play 'cause it won't be that undefinable blur anymore out of the speakers!
The switch might also take a moment to get used to.

It has a wider range, and a vocal quality to it, very sensual. I'm using a standard strat right into the RMC1, then maybe a TS-9, and it ends up in fender hot rod deluxe; i sometimes use a boss tuner TU-2, a dunlop rotovibe, a boss compression sustainer CS-3, a boss MT-2, a digitech whammy but that depends i'm mostly using the sober setup. Have had the Teese for a couple days now, already played a lot at home(with a Vox tonelab SE and headphones) which is awesome(despite the crappy clean sounds i get out of the pedalboard... but that's another topic) the wah is great with distortion; i tried it in a band rehearsal, and it's very tasty i'm afraid i totally over used it, i have to go easy now

i compared the insides of the RMC1 to a GCB-95 Crybaby, and a Vox v847, and everything looks just better and stronger: from the jack input slots to the wires interconnecting elements, it's really striking a difference. I'm not too technical, but i could say this: the wires in other mentionned wahs are single very thin looking wires. But in the RMC1, connections look exactly like the wide and soft material connecting a harddrive to a PC motherboard in your computer, you know, they are several wires together forming a horizontal set of wires then plugged into the board on a dedicated port. I had to explain 'cause it's a sight to see!

I sent a mail to Geoffrey with a question about tone and material used in his other wahs, and he answered right away with a valuable info about my model(a new RMC1) and even tuning tips to help me change it! The guy's not out there to get his money but preciously keep his secrets by drowning you into obscure and unpersonal answers: he wants you to have the sound you want, he'll help!

I play in a Hendrix SRV Clapton you name it(in the style...) cover band, and that might just be the thing i needed so bad, but the RMC1 treats me whatever music i play into it. I've been playing for 15 years, dedicated heart and soul(love like ours, will never grow old). Very inspirational stuff, if you have a minute check Hendrix at the beginning of the Live at Berkeley, just before Johnny B Goode kicks off, you see the band during sound check, and we see Jimi in very funny comfy-looking slippers rocking a few wah beats(looking like a vox crybaby, not sure) and basically the RMC1 is the closest i've heard to that little piece of authenticity, 10 - Fantastic value

I'm a bass player, and use this sparingly for effect. Basses used in conjuction with the wah, are a Lakland USA Bob Glaub (Rotosound rounds) and a Lakland DJ4 (Sadowsky flats). Used with an Ashdown 500EVO/RC and (2) Eden XLT2x12 cabs, this wah sounds great! It is a dead ringer, tonewise, for my original '69 Clyde "Picture" wah (RIP).

The case is cast aluminium which is very strong, and will outlast most of your other gear. The electronics inside consist of individual components (no ICs here), VERY neatly wired to the inductor and true-bypass switch (the KEY ingredients).
Quite a recipe for reliability... I gig without a backup for the wah.

Before my purchase, I wrote Geoffrey to ask his recommendation for a wah best suited to my circumstances... replacing an original Clyde, that I've had since 1970, that died and a wah to be used for bass. Geoffrey recommended the RMC-1, but added that I should perform a mod to provide me with "unity gain" (same volume when you activate the wah). He could have recommended a more expensive model, but instead set me up with what I asked for! How cool is that!
I ended up trying the mod myself, under his direction, but didn't get it right. He asked me to send it back, and believe me this is one BUSY guy, fixed it in one day and returned it to me Priority!
THE best customer service in the business!
THANK YOU, Geoffrey!
I'd give him an 11 in this category, if I could.

Been playing well over 35 years, several of those professionally. I was at quite a loss when my old Clyde quit, and I looked around pretty hard for the right replacement. Since it's not an effect that I use regularly, I decided that I would not spend the money to buy vintage. Have you seen what vintage wahs sell for? I narrowed my search down to the RMC-1 and the Fulltone Clyde. From what negatives I heard/read about Fulltone, and the informative (and fast!) email response I got from Geoffrey... it was a done deal. Haven't looked back since!

Great overall sound. In comparison to my other wah (Bud wah), its much thicker sounding and darker. Great detail to tone. It mainly gets used with a strat, beano boost treble booster and Zvex SHO into a Fender Blues Deluxe.Real big fat belching (in a good way!)tone, reminded me of Hendrx and Trower records.I use it sparingly and find it really adds to the sound. Often i use it with just a bit of boost from the SHO, but it even cuts though well on its own. One strange thing is I have to put the treble booster in front of it rather than after, otherwise it squeals!!!. The only major problem with this unit is the clicking noise from the switch. At low volumes you can actually here the noise alot!!. At full band volume the click from the switch going toe down is amplified. However if you are playing notes at the same time as moving the rocker its not too bad. Would have got a 9 but loses points for clicking switch.

Excellent cust service. Mr Teese answered my emails politley and quickly despite me droning on about the switch. He told me that he knew of no way round the problem other than lowering the switch. In the end thanked hm for his assistance and stopped bothering him as I figured he is a one man operation. If this is the case, hats off he answers queries quickly and well.

I play instrumental blues with jazz overtones. It sounds great for what I want. Shame about the switch noise but I guess time will tell as to if its a problem live. At volume it does seem oddly less of an issue. Didn't try before i bought as I got it from Analogman (Great service as usual). Sounds better than previously owned Vox and Bud Wah. Seems to have a more musical dark element to it. I mainly use wahs with a cleanish tone for which it sounds great. I would add that it is rather more dark sounding than my previously owned vox and budwah, for me this wasnt an issue as I prefer that but I suspect some folks are after a brighter tone.
