Its not too hard to set this bad boy to your preference. Give it some time. Its obviously more challenging than just buying a Dunlop stock Crybaby and plugging it in.

Sound Quality : 9
When I buy a new pedal I isolate it from my other pedals to get the precise nuances that can be found inside that little box of goodness. So the other pedals I own are irrelevant to this review. I play several custom built strats (with fender pickups such as Texas Specials, and stock american) and run them through a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 amp.
As far as the sound of the pedal goes, its supremely clean and has a very smooth sweep. I found that the "sweet spot" of the RMC2 is not as definitive as one might've thought listening to sound clips; that's how amazingly smooth the sweep of this pedal is. I also discovered with this pedal that even a wah that claims to have it all cannot (sadly). It gets perfect wah tones for nearly every style of play BUT I found that it struggles a bit if you're looking for a nice 'quack' which is so characteristic of 60's and 70's funk tunes. The way I'm getting around this one is to keep my Crybaby AND this bad boy both in my effects chain. I get the nasty (and sometimes ugly) grit of the crybaby, and the smooth sweet sweep of the RMC2. The only reason I gave it a 9 is that it didn't completely deliver in the "get any tone you want" marketing pitch that is robustly touted. But it does have a mouthwatering, extremely smooth sweep.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long enough to say.

I play blues, rock, and funk so I was hoping that this wah could meet all of my needs for each genre. I've been playing guitar for 6 years and I have a strong background in other musical endeavours. The RMC2 didn't deliver 100% but I suppose you can't really expect that (even if that's how its being pitched to the interested potential owners). If I somehow lost or misplaced this pedal, I wouldn't necessarily rush out to grab another one right away (considering the price) but I would definitely miss it on the rock tunes I play. Don't get me wrong, this pedal is far supreme to the Dunlop Crybaby in its refined sound but there's something about the nasty quack of some wah pedals that drives many guitar players into an inspired frenzy. If you're looking for a refined, clean sweep, and very tunable wah, go ahead and drop the big bucks for this one. If you want something solely for funk, you might want to look elsewhere.

I've owned this for 6 years.
Beyond easy to use. Take off the rubber screw things and tweak it.
'Smooth & Sweet' is the go-to preset. Good starting point.
Once you get this wah, you'll wonder why you settled in the past for 'non-customizable' wahs.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it live and recording. This is a piece of gear you do not want to sell. Absolutely built like a tank.

Reliability : 10
You could beat a midget with this thing. Indestructable.

6 years later Mr Teese sent me the latest pot cause mine just wore out.

I have two pieces of gear I won't sell. My vintage Big Muff and the RMC.

Great tone on or off, if you get a bad sound its your fault. Not much to the manual(it's only one page).Remember a wah is a tone control, so you control your tone.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Clapton, Santana, Neal schon, Page, Hendrix, Stevie, those tones are all in there. All wahs are noisy when your in the upper registers. I use a Reavey ultra 212, Foxrox Captain Coconut 2.

Reliability : 8
Its gig worthy, the only way I could see needing a backup is if you used it as a weapon in a bar fight(at that point Tone is not a priority).

Hendrix, Trower, Santana, early Journey type post Hendix school of guitar.I've been playing for about 30 years. I've had Morley, Dunlop wah wah's.The Morley pedals don't mess up your tone when they are off, but they are not that dramatic when they are on.Dunlop wahs mess up your tone when they are off, but when they are on they sound okay. The Teese pedal is more vocal...it does'nt just wah wah, it BOW WOW's at ya.Ive been able to get sounds that I've not been able to get with all the others.

Its easy! One volume (that's wy I bought it!), and some other controls wich I dont know what they do exactly, but you can turm them and the sound does change e a little but still the thing sounds okay!

I wish the controls were down at the bottom, or just little ones (like the dunlop), so you could set them ones and not have to adjust them cause they had moved in your bag...

Sound Quality : 9
I have a nice strat with nice tube amp, no effects except this wah!
Sound is very nice, better then all the other ways I have had!! As I do not use other effects than wah (and okee..some drive from my amp) I wanted a good one! I'm not realy into all the new boutique effects from nowadays and dont know exactly everything you can buy and what is good and what not etc.. but I saw this one under the foot of a guitar player and I liked his sound (and I thougt, he must know what to buy!!) he adviced me RMC so I checked it out in the nearest shop! There were two models he had in store, the RMC1 and RMC2. I liked the sound of both, but particulaily the volume control on the RMC2 made my choose that one! Sound is excellent!!

Reliability : 4
Its in fact the same housing (and box haha) as Dunlop, sturdy as hell. Only I have a problem with (I think) the on/off switch on my wah... sometimes when you intall the wah betweem your guitar and amp I get no sound.. then I have too click it on and off several times to get it working!! Also sometimes the same happens when you click it on for the forst time... click! and your sound is gone!! This is quite annoying because when your solo comes up and you want to spice things up with your nice wah sound you look like an ass with crappy equipment!!! I did not go back to the store with this malfunction, because it only happing in lets say one on the 5 times... so I just knwo when I go back to the store it will work properly.. that is always the case haha!!!

Customer Support : 5
Dont know... they are in US I'm in Holland, so expect much from direct support from the manufacturer, but maybe I will go back to the store with it some day and then we will see!

Overall Rating : 7
If it was lost I would buy a wah from the same manufacturer, but I would first toroughly check out switch, by switching it about 300 times in the shop haha!!

You must spend some time to get the sound you like. Definitely not a "plug and play" unit. The manual is somewhat helpful but you really need to play it and fiddle w/ the knobs. Describing sound is like describing wine (and we all know how useless that is!).

Sound Quality : 10
Once you get "your" sound, STAND BACK!! I love this wah! Quiet, ballsy, cutting; it's everything I wanted my Crybaby to be but never was. I'd give this an "11" if I could. The ability to get different wah sounds is a huge plus!

Do not underestimate true bypass on a wah!! Wah's are notorious for sucking tone!

Reliability : 10
I have gigged w/ it for over a yr and had no problems. Built like tank.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I bot this thru Analog Man who is the best !!!!! He actually answered an email on Sunday afternoon! Thus, my rating is N/A for Teese (who has a great reputation) but a "10" for Analog Man.

Overall Rating : 9
I play in a cover band. The wide range of usable tones is what caused me to buy this product. Change the settings, and it's like you bot a different wah! I would buy this again in a heartbeat! DO NOT BUY A WAH W/O TRUE BYPASS! If you do, you will cry like a baby (no pun intended)once you hear the difference!!

Given the price, I must give this an overall "9". It's not inexpensive (but worth every dollar).

Ease of Use : 10
It's a wah-wah pedal with a few extra bits and bobs. A volume control, a 'Q' control and a 5 position 'sweep' knob. On the underside of the pedal it is marked what each knob is (q, vol, or sweep), and there is plenty on the website to explain function. Battery access is done by unscrewing the rubber feet which contain screws that hold the base plate on. It's very straight forward.

Sound Quality : 10
This is being used with a couple of strats. One pretty standard, the other with some fatter neck and mid pickups and a hot bridge 'bucker.

Straight off it is one very quite wah - very little extraneous noise. The second thing to strike me straaght away was how clear and hi-fi it sounds. With the toe all the way down it really does sound like my guitar amplifed with a lot of high end. Clear, bell like high end, not plastic-sounding, or shrill or dull. Like a very transparent treble booster.

the differences in the the sweep seem subtle at first but with experimentation you can hear where they vary. The first setting (J.Mascis) has less bass than the rest and sweeps over the sweet mid spot and into glassy highs. the last setting (RMC1) is the biggest sweep with a broad obvious bottom end with the toe up and sweeps forward to a strong high end. Inbetween the two extremes is the RMC3 factory standard setting which is a good jack of all trades sweep. The 3rd and 4th settings are said to be "vintage and modern US and italian wah's" or something like that. Personally my ears are not good enough to pickup the differences between sweep 3 and 4 but they sound very Crybaby esque. I like to use the 1st setting for clean and funky stuff and the 5th setting (RMC 1) for when using overdrive and distortion, as being the most aggressive sweep it is not washed out easily.

The volume control is handy for stopping the wah getting washed out in solos or swashes of distortion. The 'Q', like the sweep, is subtle in it's operation. The are no unsuable out there tones in this pedal, they are al 100% practical. Turn up the Q and it works well to sharpen up the sweeps, in particular the 1st sweep setting, making it a bit more articulate. It general it can be used to add a bit more 'zing' to any setting, although as it narrows the width of the peak in the EQ that is sweeped from bass to treble, having it turned all the way up and take away some of the vocal quality of the wah.

on my traditional strat it works well the the natural abudnace of top and bottom end from the pickups, and in the fatter sounding strat is works well at stirring up the thicker mid range. I imagine it would sound good with tradition PAF style pickups.

Reliability : 10
seems 100% solid. wouldn't worry about back up unless I'd had it for a long time and thought the pot was about to die on me.

G. Teese is beyond reproach when it comes to customer support. He's answered every query of mine promptly and politely. A true gent.

However, the company that I bought from in the UK (Aire Guitars) were slightly less proffesional. I sent initial enquires by e-mail. First they told me that only the RMC2 was no longer being made and that the RMC3 and Picture Wah were the only models that were manufactured(and also in stock) and also that the RMC1 might be obtainable but it would require a special order being put it. I got in touch with Teese about this who explained Aire Guitars must have their wires crossed. Back in touch with Aire Guitars (forwarding them G. Teese's reply to my equires) and they say they'd be able to order a RMC 2 for me if I wanted. I asked for a price, they qouted me one. Two days later I called them to place the order. I placed the order and was told that they had 2 of the model I wanted in stock and that It'd be put in the post and delivered tomorrow, at which point someone spoke to the person I was talking with on the phone and pointed out he was about to ship me a RMC 3 when what I was asking for (and stated clearly on the phone) was a RMC 2. I then got told that it would take about 2 weeks to get the pedal into the UK from the US. In the end it took over two months. It transpired that the RMC2 was ordered as part of a batch of pedals, the RMC2 was ready, but would ship untill the rest had been finished. Aire Guitars said they had asked for it to be sent separately ahead of the rest of the order. I know this never happened, as I was informed by Aire Guitars that the once it had been shipped over, the whole order got impounded by HM Customs and took a week to get only half the shipment released.

In the end I got the pedal. And love it. Basically, G. Teese is a top bloke and gets a big thumbs up (10/10), but Aire Guitars need to do better(5/10). It is worth saying that they did reply to all emails politely and promptly, there was certianly no lack of effort upon their part, merely a lack of proffesionalism that you would expect of a company dealing with such quality fx (e.g. a basic knowledge of what models are in production would be nice).

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, the wah is a pleasure to use. It is pristine sound wise, easy to use, looks great and well built. My only criticisms are that the power jack would be better on the left hand side of the pedal or on the front for easier access to a power lead.

There is probably a setting for everyone in here. I love the J Mascis (No1) setting - it's like no other wah out there. I hate to give straight tens on any review, but to give less would be nit picking. I could give 9/10 for easy of use because it doesn't have a modern clip-style batter compartment, or 9/10 for build quality because G. Teese's signature on the underside smuges and wipes off easily, but, as I said, this is nit picking. There is nothing of importance wrong with this wah.

Very straightforward with side mounted rotary knobs. Pretty much limitless wah sounds from classic to way out there. There is no manual for this unit, but if you need one Geoffrey has some good literature on his web site. If you still have a problem operating a Geoff Teese Wah, then you might want to consider Barber College.

Sound Quality : 10
It''s safe to say that this wah was better than sex.(Well, maybe not better than the sex I had in the summer of 1976, but definately better than the sex I had last night.) Played through a '60 Strat and Steve Carr "Rambler" amp with pretty much flat eq. This thing is dead on balls quiet. Absolutely true bypass. Huge sweep and tone to the bone.

Reliability : 10
It's built like a Rolls Royce. Overbuilt really, but in a good way. It feels good to see a product built to last a lifetime. I suppose he could have sneeked by with some cost saving measures but he didn't. This is the Mac Daddy of WahWah's, period.

Customer Support : 10
I've found Geoffrey Teese to be human and approachable. That's a rare thing these days. He will even make an effort to show up at your shows, if you promise to let him chow down at the catering line.He actually hand makes each and every one of these works of art, so be patient and wait. Remember prom night?

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a lowly side man for various national acts and a session player around Nashville. I have lots of gear, but I only recommend the things that I truly appreciate the workmanship and artistry of. I suppose you could fill pages of reviews with technical specs, but to truly appreciate Real McCoy Custom Wahs, you have to play one. I know, they're hard to find, but it is worth the effort.

This is a great pedal, slightly more complicated than regular wahs, because of the options, but very easy to use. The other reviews and his website cover the features well. The black knobs have silver marks to see where your settings are. Also, I had prefer led lights on my pedals to see if they are on or not, and this is not a regular feature, but I sent it to Geoffrey and he was great about installing this for me. (More on his customer service later)

Sound Quality : 10
I use a rosewood telecaster through a trace velocette with a pedal power 2 pedal board with combinations of dunlop tremolo pan, sansamp gt2, xotic effects acbooster, tu2, synth wah, line6 dl4, guyatone funky box, ibanez fl99 and ph99.
this wah is great- super quiet and tweakable to get any sound you want from a wah. i used to have a dunlop super wah/volume, but it was soooo noisey but i like the feel of this style pedal, (i did not prefer the fulltone clyde, it was good just not as good of a feel for me). i use sweeps 3 and 4 the most, and volume boost is very helpful.

Reliability : 10
Super reliable, I gig without a backup (but could maybe get by for a gig without a wah too). Very well made and sturdy case.

Customer Support : 10
If only this category went to 11. Mr. Teese was extremely helpful in coordinating the installation of a led on the wah for me, it was done a efficiently at a very reasonalle fee. I have the utmost faith in his products and services and his communication via email was outstanding. His customer service is something to emulate.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly rock, but many other styles. I would never buy another type of wah again. If this were lost or stolen, my insurance would definitely be used to purchase another one with a new led installed. This kicks Dunlop's butt for wahs in a second.

Given, it's a wah, so what more do you need to know? Well the different settings do take about 5 minutes more to figure out than just switching another wah on, so... I'm taking one point off for the whole taking off the baseplate to get to the battery deal. If dunlop can make a battery access base, why not use it?

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using my Guild Starfire III into a Way Huge compressor, into the RMC, to a loooper ABY box, and then into a 40's supro combo and a 50's dwight combo. I couldn't be happier. There is your standard noise as with most wahs. I compared this to my old Crybaby 535 (first generation 4 switch, no Q). Much more musical sounding than the dunlop which was fun for bizarre tones, but not much more. I prefer the RMC on the largest sweep setting with volume 3/4 up and Q set flat. Makes my guitar really speak now. I don't think I will use the other sweep settings as the largest gets the exact tone I want. In addition, boosting the volume adds bass in addition to gain, so use judiciously. I'm still finding the various spots on the Q I like. Again a 9 because a 10 would mean sounds that I could never have imagined, with none of the typical way noise.

Reliability : 10
I think I would depend on it like any descent metal casing wah, but at this price, no backup is possible. I had a hard enough time justifing spending 200+ on a wah, but it is definitely worth it.

Customer Support : 10
I bought this through Analog man who has always been helpful. The pedal arrived two days after I ordered it. Can't ask for much more. Having dealt with boutique companies before, I have no doubt in Teese's commitment to his product. My only fear with small companies is when they are bought out or their chief designers go to work for another company (ala Way Huge to Line 6).

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, I think I'm going to bad extremely happy with this pedal. I've played every style under the sun from Celtic, to Avante Garde, Heavy Metal to Pop, Reggae and now even Klezmer. My head still spins sometimes. I've been playing for 16 years and have used many older dunlops, newer dunlops, Bud-wahs, and Voxes. This is definitely the best of the bunch. I would probably replace it with a RMC3, just because now that I have one solid tone, I really don't feel the need to tweak as much. This is definitely a company to trust. One point off becuase I think the RMC3 may be perfection.

It is very easy to get a GREAT sound out of it. It came with no manual but the controls are simple. The five sweeps, volume, and Q controls are cool. I bought the RMC2 because RMC3 looked confusing. I didn't want to have to quit my job to figure it out!

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is great. The volume boost knob gives the pedal a smooth, thicker increase volume and strength. You get a good sound at the highest boost level. Virtually no hiss! The Q is great, giving you a sharp attack. The sweeps are cool. I like the largest sweep range. The toe down gives you an ear piercing squeal while the heel down produces an almost bass-like tone. Using this sweep gives a crazy array of tone. My custom made guitat has a pair of Seymour Duncan Invaders! The combination is mind-blowing. But what is great about this pedal is its customizability. You choose your sweep! This a very quite pedal. It produces a great sound (not a nasty metallic sound). I use it with my Marshall 60 watt all tube combo. There is no thinning out of your tone with this pedal. It will enhance your tone!

Reliability : 8
I can definitely rely on it. Keep extra batteries handy. I would use it on a gig definitely. I only wish that it had been made like a Fulltone wah (built like a Hummer). The construction is good, but it could be better. I chose the RMC2 over the Fulltone because of the great customizing options and the great reviews that the RMC2 has. I'm sure that the Fulltone wah is a great product, but I am happy with my decision.

Customer Support : 10
I have never seen better customer support. Geoffrey is great. Any questions or concerns that you have, he will answer and email you within a few hours. No problems here.

Overall Rating : 10
I play hard rock, alternative, and metal. This is a great match. This pedal is worth the money. I also own the Akai Headrush delay/echo device. I RMC2 works well with it. I am still trying to incorporate a few more pedals to get my sound. I love everything except the housing. The pedal should be built like a Hummer for that price. I would buy another one if it was lost or stolen. My favorite feature is the sweep function. It is great for leads!
