It would actually be difficult to get a bad sound out of this thing. Myself,I dime the low/mid/high and gain knobs and adjust the overall output with the level knob. I'm playing at home nowadays, so I have the level dialed way down, and still get a crushing sound out of this little beast.

This thing is simply THE BEST stompbox distortion I ever come across....bar none. It's not at all noisy IMO, and it also has a true bypass......really cool. I'm using this with a Carvin Legacy 2x12 combo. In addition to the George Dennis, I'm running a Lexicon MX200, and a BBE Sonic Stomp straight in the front of the amp through the clean channel. I play all my own stuff, and I'm looking for a heavy sound with lots of girth and no mud for the rythmn stuff. For the lead stuff I go for full bodied sound with alot of prescence and harmonics. Though the BBE has quite a bit to do with it, the Distorted Mind is the lynch pin of the great tone I'm getting. As far as the guitars I'm using right now, I'm playing a Zion Radicaster with EMGs, and two Ibanez US Customs.....the main one I use has an EVO in the bridge and a Dimarzio single in the neck. The Dennis pushes the Ibby with the EVO particularly well.

I think I could probably drive a car over this unit, and it still would work. Nice sturdy metal chassis with a heavy rubber foot switch.......very well made stompbox

As I mentioned earlier,I play original stuff.....prog/shred I suppose. I've been playing 30 years or so now, and have owned more gear than you'd find in your average Guitar Center. Though right now I'm playing the 3 guitars I've mentioned earlier, I'm a bigtime gearwhore. In the time I've had this....a little under 2 years. I've had all sorts of guitars in here...Ibanez,Charvel,Carvin,Pedulla, Guild,Robin,Kramer,Zion,Peavey, and a couple mutant/Frankenstein deals. In each and every case this pedal delivered both with the Legacy and the Peavey Duel 2x12 that I was running it through before. If it were lost of swiped, I'd replace it in a heartbeat. There isn't a single thing I don't love about this one. As far as any comparisons with any other distortion stomps....there are none. This one is in a class of it's own. I'm so impressed with the Distorted Mind, that I'm looking for a few more of their units. I hate to come off like a fanboy, but I cant give this one a score of anything less than a 10 in any category.

Very easy - just step on the dimple. There are low-mid-high tone EQ, gain and volume knobs which rotate in a similar fashion to other effect pedals you've seen. No manual required.
On high gain amps I usually run the volume at '1 o'clock' to '3 o'clock' and gain at '10 o'clock' - EQs set to taste. Plenty of usable range. You can't fry it with the wrong AC adapter, it switches itself out and shuts down. If the battery dies, it switches itself out and shuts down.

I have used these ODs with several medium to high gain tube amps; some Marshalls, a Traynor, some Mesas, a Carvin X100B, a Peavey 5150, and a couple of Plush amps. This effect is perfect for pushing that already-kicking amp of your 'just a dab' into overdrive heaven [or hell, depending on your mood!]
Excellent note definition/harmonics, great crunch, sustain and grind is available, cleans up with your guitar's volume knob.
True bypass optical switching, quiet operation and parametric EQ controls make it a very versatile tool for the rock players. Fine performance with single-coil or humbucking pickups, easily tailored to suit the instrument.
I would think this effect would be ideal for most rock players - death metal, hard rock, stoner, classic styles or punk.

Excellent - very sturdy steel case, rubber knobs, rubber battery door and rubber switch pad. Looks difficult to destroy. No need for backup. Quality-made in the Czech Republic.

This is my second one - now I have 'one for home and one for the road' - I guess that tells you SOMETHING! I bought the first one 8 years ago
in Texas [see my review here] and it is still going strong. George Dennis pedals are boutique-grade 'sleepers' and will be collector's items some day. Watch for my 'King Bee' overdrive review coming on Harmony Central.

the only thing that i was bumed is that i can get a fuzz tone.
but, the hell with it its a distorted mind rock remember?
it is truly the most versatile out there and im not just saying.
george dennis aint lyin' whrn he said" from crunch all the wy to shiney metal"
the only reason im writing this review is because i lobe their products and everyone else should give it a shot i can get a scoop sound like megadeth and the fat overdrive of slash and so on....

i play everything from folk to matel but i bought this baby to rock!
it does any rock\punk\metal you want. gueranteed.im playing for almost 4 years if it would be stolen ide be soooo frikking angrey because these pedals are vey expensive and hard to get here, so ill find the guy, whatever it takes and beat the living shit out of him, or at least, thats what i would like to do.
my favorite feature on this one is the middle knob whick makes a whole lotta difference in the texture of the sound.
that the scoop of fat applyer.
i have compared it with mxr's marshall's bos's whatever, it pisses all over them.
i give it an overall ten just because it its all the compatitors though nothung us perfect.
this thing helped me to shape my sound

I use a Les Paul Custom with a Crate Blue Voodoo amp. This is the quietest pedal I own. I get most of the sounds I need. It's an easy peday to operate and adjust.

We're playing death metal all the time and this pedal is a good match. I could use it for other styles. I've played around with it and have gotten alot of tone from it. I love it and would replace it if something happend to it. I've had stuff stolen and it's not right. I love the feel of the on and off switch.

An unbelivable hot pedal. Right out of the box I got the metal distortion that I wanted. 5 knobs: LO, MID, HI, DRIVE & LEVEL all work together to produce a tube like sounding distortion. Independently and together they tweak the tone to where you want to go. I thought I was gonna hate the switch but it turns out it work really well. No manual to speak of but I didn't need one.

I have a SG Standard with a Tony Iommi pickup in the bridge and a Fender American Strat with stock pickups. I'm playing them thru a Marshall Bluesbreaker with a Boss RV-3 digital reverb/delay pedal. The distortion pedal is very quiet and the bypass is as advertised. Much better than my Metal Zone.

Has always workewd so far. Has some great features like a flashing LED when the battery is getting low and a protection circuit that won't let you plug in a power supply with the wrong polarity. If the battery does die it puts you into the bypasss mode automatically. I would use it at a gig without back up.

Have not dealt with customer support. It came with a warranty but this think is really built solid. A tough metal case and everything else is heavy duty, too.

I play RANCID, AC-DC, PANTERA, DOWN, and lots of original stuff. This pedal fits in well. I have been playing for over 20 years. This is current all the gear I own. I got rid of my Metal Zone pedal. If it were lost or stolen I'd buy another one. I love that it's so easy to tweak and get the sounds I want. I wish it had come with a power supply.

I play high energy rock and roll / punk and it is ideal - I love it.
Been at-it for years, tons of gear, blah blah...
I'd buy another if it vanished somehow....
Features I like: good switching; if battery fails, it bypasses unit
automaticly; nice battery box door; Tough case; no bad points!
I leave it on - it always sounds cool.
