Just plug your guitar straight in from the guitar or from a buffer. It has two outputs that can be set to pan one to the other as you work the pedal or as a simple volume swell to both outs by toe down press hard. Led lights up when you are in volume swell. Real simple.
It has one control for the minimum volume when the pedal is heel down. Two separate volume controls that control the left and right outputs. The two volumes can either cut or boost( around 6db?). The output volume pots have a nice centre detent when set to 0db gain.

Setup is either guitar in to a buffer then in to the GD-025 followed by two chains for left and right. Left has a crybaby wah and a few other retro effects. The right output, when I use it goes to another compresser, eq and distortion pedals. I either drive two amps or I mix the two sides together. Whatever.
The pedal does not color the sound at all and there is absolutely no noise, even when you push the gain of the two outs. If you do get noise in your chain, it just means that gains in your other pedals have to be turned down a bit, or just pull back a bit on the volume pedal! The pedal does not load down your guitar at all. In fact, if you don't have a buffer for your guitar, this pedal makes a great input buffer for your guitar to drive the effects in your chain and you don't loose any of the high-end.
I use a couple different all tube amps as well as a di in to the computer and all work just fine with no fuss and no noise. Perfect.
Reliability

No Opinion
Had it for only a week. It seems rugged and heavy. It being optical instead of pots means that it either works or it doesn't. If it is like a morley pedal, it should last indefinitely.

No need yet. I don't see a need either.

I play everything from classical, jazz, blues, country, rock, and metal. The pedal allows me to set the volume and check the gains to clean up the sound for different songs then use my guitar volume pedal to roll off the volume to tweak while playing.
I have been playing off and on for 30 years now. Have seen and played it all. Modelling to tubes.
If it were lost or stolen, I would certainly buy it again.
It is a volume pedal. Great for taking edge off notes for effect in solos to shake it up a bit when working the whammy bar.
My favourite feature is the ability to pan between both outs and get some nice blend effects at just the click of the toe. A bit of a different twist to just a straight channel switch when going from rhythm to solo and back.
