Funky, clean, GREAT sounding wah. Not so trebly as the more standard wahs including the Morley one. If you want treble spike look elsewhere. If you want clean, warm funk wah look no further!

Simple on off to switch from wah to volume. I like that it has a pilot light when wah is engaged. I almost never use the toggle for deeper bass wah sweep. LIke all wahs it takes a moment to learn but a lifetime to master the use of the tool.

Excellent, a very transparent and dead quiet unit. I can't understand how other reviewers didn't like it, maybe they got dud units. If the batteries are up, this thing makes ZERO noise and when used as a volume pedal it is completely invisible. There is no signal loss or decrease in anything. I would swear this pedal is true bypass. And believe me I am picky about my tone.
My rigs are:
Gibson 335TD or G&L Legacy->GD WahVolume->Barber LTD->Barber DD->McIntyre Stereo 30 Watt Tube (preamp)->(stereo loops)Boss RBF10 Flanger->Rockman Stereo Chorus->Rockman Stereo Echo (racked)->McIntyre Power Amps (6v6 + EL84)
I also use this pedal with a Crate VC3112 and an old Traynor Mark III head, a Roland JC120, and various practise amps.
The sound of this wah is less aggressive than an old Cry Baby, but it's perfect for vocal and sweet sounding clean 'wowie' type wah sounds. It is very expressive and easy to use. The sound is quite usable with the toe depressed for high end bite, and stands alone. However, the back (lows) lack that nasally violinish tone of older noisier units.
So it's a tradeoff. This pedal is a moderately aggressive wah that is pleasing to the ear and very smooth and quiet - definitely the quietest wah I've ever used. No scratchy pot sounds, no tone sucking and very smooth operation in both wah and volume modes. It's perfect for recording. Having said that, it won't deliver that raspy biting bitching wah sweep we all know and love. As said the nasally low end is not up to par with an old Thomas Organ cry baby. But then again, neither is the price. For the money, this thing kicks.

Never had a problem and have used it repeatedly without problems. My only beef is that it seems to go through batteries more like a reverb pedal than a wah. I always carry spare batteries.
I've owned 3 George Dennis pedals over the years - a Phaser and a Wizard Distortion - and they all worked flawlessly. I'm pretty sure they were true bypass because they were dead quiet, and each had a built in optical volume control.
My experience has been absolutely trouble free, and I bought all 3 of them used off ebay. They're built like tanks in the Czech republic.

Been playihg for 40 years, do everything from classic rock to funk to blues to country. This pedal is good for all styles, and works flawlessly as a simple volume pedal. The wah is smooth and transparent, but lacks the aggressive bite of older units, most notably the pre-Dunlop Cry Baby. However, compared to any modern wahs in the same price range, this thing is the master. I highly recommend it for the price, and I'd imagine GD's new stuff is even better.

Im useing HH guitar or strat copy through boss hyper fuzz--george dennis wah/volume--dod fx60 stereo chorus--behinger 0d100--boss phase shifter--boss dd3 delay into either laney hardcore 65watt or a laney world tour 120watt, both solid state.
works well with other pedals, can very easily get fuuuuunky "wakka-wakka" sounds in hi mode (also suits RHCP and incubus stlye music) in low mode with the hyper fuzz and delay you can make synth like sounds that are just amazing. this wah dose NOT suck your tone, peopla who say it does may need to change there batterys.
Also works for progrock styled music ala tool.
A great allrounder due to the hi-lo feature

Very solidy built, though my only complaints are the little rubber feet on the bottom have long since been removed because they have been pushed through into the unit itself.

I play a very varied style of music and this pedal really does a great job of fitting into anything that needs a wah, i very rarely need/use the volume fuction so i am giving this pedal a 9 for the wah alone. The ability to change the eq through the toggle switch makes it as if you own 2 wah pedals.
This is a great wah for all round styles of music that has a great sound quality! asnd for the price it cannot b beaten

It is easy enough to use but the challenge with a wah pedal is getting your foot to work with it in time with the music. A friend who can do a bit of Jimi made this sound great. Forget about the negative stuff from the other reviews - it's not that bad.

Mostly I play a SRV Strat with the factory stock Texas specials. My other two electrics are a Steiberger 6-string (EMG actives HSH) and an odd 12-string copy of a Les Paul. I play into a 65 Deluxe Reverb RI through a handfull of pedals (TC Chorus, Blackstone OD, Ibanez trem). This wah is quiet enough and has no real problems - sounds good.

It looks solid and I doubt if it will break with my light level of gigging and I do not need a backup as I can live without the wah.

They are good to deal with. I wrote George and got a prompt, sensible answer. By the way folks, you can't get a combination Wah and Volume pedal with a true bypass or it would not be working as a volume pedal when you turn off the wah, right? I leave the wah on all the time and do not use the volume control anyway.

I play with a rock (soft to medium border sometimes on hard) 7-piece band which concentrates on vocals. I have been playing off and on for about 40 years. My style makes very light use of a wah but I like it, leave it on all the time, and use it to shape tone even when it is not moving.

After emailing several times with George Dennis himself, I wanted to revise my previous review below.
Sound Quality
:

I voided the warranty by opening up the sucker and filing down the shadow casting tab inside. It turns out that about 1/8 of the light-reciever was being obscured. After the mod, the volume is 1:1 without a volume drop although there is a still a noticeable drop in shimmer in volume mode (and I am a HUGE fan of shimmer). Although one shouldn't have to mod their brand new pedal, after my relatively simple home project, this thing sounds pretty darn good. So I want to balance out my last review with a higher number: I knocked 2 points out for the cut in tone, but for some, this till be barely noticeable.

Wow, I never expected the man himself (George Dennis) to reply so quickly and insightfully to my emails. Even though I ragged on his pedal, he took it all in stride and offered suggestions and alternatives. Basically with a dual function pedal, it isn't possible to get true-bypass -- so in search of the holy-grail, one has to compromise and consider if it's worth a slight drop in tone for great functionality. GD did clarify that the GD35 and GD45 are true-bypass wahs for diehards like me. Also he offered to make whatever adjustments I required if I sent the pedal back to him.

In the capitalixxxt world of 'sell-it-and-run.' it's rare to find a company that cares a lot about its customers. Even though I'm not satisfied with the tonality of the pedal in volume mode (wah mode is incredible), I have to give an overall of 9 when looking at the bigger picture of a company standing behind its product. With increasing success, GD's commitment to hands-on approach remains to be seen, but my bet is this fellow will stick to his guns.

there's so many right concepts with this pedal that it just hurts that they got them wrong! First of all the wimpy switch that changes wah eq settings should have been just a small push button instead of a toggle that will undoubtedly break with gigging. You want to be able to switch between these eq's without bending down and flicking the switch with you're finger (isn't that the reason why it's a footpedal??). the optical operation, combination with volume, ergronomics, are all very hopeful, but.... (see comments below)

the wah is very musical, usable, & smooth - especially the 2 different eq's which are great. BUT... I completely agree with the previous reviewer: when you plug this in, it unexplainably sucks the tone out of your guitar in the volume (wah bybass) mode. Sustain is diminished as well as dynamic range! I know someone is going to claim BS on me, (please do) and explain that this is impossible.... I was first convinced that this was just merely a volume drop from not having a true bypass, but there is something very insidious going on here. The wah-bypass mode is COMPLETELY unusable because of the way it messes with the guitar tone. I have an LP which I lovingly know inside and out tonally, and when I plugged this thing in, it IMMEDIATELY was evident that something was wrong...

Looks sturdy, but I have to return it after 6 hours of wishing that it would work as a usable pedal when wah is bypassed. Nice contruction, BUT that damn wimpy toggle switch is a liability.

Man, I'm heartbroken. This pedal is SUCH a good idea. I'd be willing to look over most of the details if it wasn't for the pedal messing with my tone. Mr. Dennis, I'm sorry to diss your product, but it is unusable.

Not much in the way of features so it's fairly easy to get your head around. Press down for the wah effect then press down again to switch it off. Has toggle to switch between hi and lo, this also affects the pedal in volume mode.

Totally unusable pedal (mine at least). Huge volume drop when plugged in. In clean volume mode it adds an unusual tone to the signal, kinda sucks the life out of the tone - but not like a normal pot would - it's hard to explain. The wah is very smooth - nothing at all like a 'Hendrix' sounding wah should. Either mine has been dropped or most people who liked it haven't actually A/B it with their uneffected tone.

This is just my experience with what might possibly be a faulty eBay purchase. Check one out brand new if you plan to buy one S/H because I trusted the other remarks here for this product and got burned... ouch! I play for a living and rarely come across bad pedals... and... when I do you can usually get around it somehow... but this one just doesn't cut it.

Optical control takes a few minutes getting used to after using traditional stomp-switches, but now I wonder why all sweep pedals aren't made this way. The silent switching is a godsend.
The mini-toggle frequency switch should be at the back of the pedal, not the front (where it could get kicked), but so far this has not caused me any problems.
Power socket is the old tip-positive type, making it incompatible with standard Boss-style power supplies. However, I use a Godlyke Powerall with interchangeable connectors for just this eventuality, so again... no problems here.
The rocker pedal has just the right tortion to allow ease of movement with the facility to set the filter sweep in one place for soloing 'sweet spots'.

First class tone. This is the best wah I have ever played. Very sweet and musical with both clean and distorted tones. My only criticism might be that I would prefer to get a little more edge and brightness at times (a la the Crybaby) when my amp is set to a distorted tone (ref. Alex Lifeson's tones on the track 2112).
The volume mode does exactly what it says on the tin. I was concerned that it might not drop to complete zero output with a high-gain sound (which was the case with my Ernie Ball), but my fears were immediately dispelled the first time I tried it.

Looks and feels solid enough. I would not hesitate to gig without a backup -- It's only a pedal; If the worst comes to the worst I'll get through a gig without it. Since I've not gigged with it yet, I'll give it 9 instead of a 10.

Well, at first I was a bit dissapointed but then I found out the trick. I use it AFTER my distortion pedals so it has enough range and response and is a bit more aggresive. Only problem is that it gets a bit louder when on... Volume pedal feature is great... Get this if you like moderately aggresive wah and need volume pedal.

i'm going from a Cort x-2 to 5150 stack. Unlike a lot of pedals (ie: digitech rp series) this wah does not suck any tone from my instrument or amp, which is very nice. It's a real classy sounding wah, fantastic for funk, jazz, rock, you name it! it has a real nice full, smoothe, and liquid wah sound which i like a lot. the only thing i don't like about it is that playing higher notes (specifically with a lot of distortion) the wah does not seem strong enough, but this is probably a recurring theme with most wahs! Also, the switch on the bottom right does not do a lot to effect the sound or sweep pattern, which i would have liked.

I play everything from solo jazz guitar to death metal and this wah seems to work for everything. I bought it used from a local dealership and out of the 5 or so wahs (including jim dunlops) i chose this one (taking into account affordibility, hehe)
the fact that it doubles as a volume pedal is really handy also. very easy to switch between the two effects.
if you're looking for a basic, nice sounding, reliable wah, get this one!
