Excellent stuff

Sound Quality : 10
Terrific. very transparent. It sounds like a ROSS

Reliability : 10
Seems very well built. good switch (taiwan blue 3PDT), great custom box!!!

This is NOT a BYOC kit. first off the casing alone could tip you off. Second, what the hell are you doing at BYOC. If you want to go through the build yourself Guitar General Gadgets has the same stuff for much less (same switch, jacks, case, pots, and components) only thing I see different is the PCB (not worth a 25 dollar difference). example:

BYOC Screemer= 84.99
GGG Screemer= 60.00

In my opinion the average beginner will be hard pressed to find a better assembled compressor out their for the price.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
Great pedal, great price. If you want to Build your own prepare yourself and know what you are getting into. Those of you who do know what they are doing will recognize the value in GGG or just going to small bear and buying you parts their.

Two knobs , couldn't be easier. If you know about compressors, same deal as most of the rest - level & sustain.

Sound Quality : 10
well, i'm not so used to compressors so it's taken me a while to really "get" what the point is. i haven't used any others so i can't compare it, but i can say that, in practice with the band, & on stage, when this thing is on it just lends a completely smooth sound to my tone at the right settings. you can really boost & sustain the crap out of a distortion or od pedal -- my treble booster sounds amazing after it in the chain, &, where the tb sometimes has harsh too-trebly overtones, with the sustain up on the goudie compressor, it's mellowed & rounded out perfectly. i mostly leave it on the whole time i'm playing, although with the sustain down & the level up it can also work as a really transparent clean boost. great pedal, great price!

Reliability : 10
super reliable thus far. in a slightly-larger-than mxr casing, built with tank-like solidity. great on gigs, doesn't scuff, beautiful powder-blue finish

Customer Support : 10
russell goudie is a super nice guy, he was supportive & answered tons of questions BEFORE i even bought the thing! he offers a two-year warranty for the original owner and replies within a day or two to most emails. awesome

Overall Rating : 10
like i said, i can't compare this to anything. the original ross comps still go for nutso money on ebay & elsewhere. generally i am a vintage snob but i'd much rather buy three or four cool pedals than one jut because it's got a brand name. plus, this is true bypass AND modded in the parts to help improve on the ross tone. don't know how it compares with keeley's ross clone, but is also half the price. the other reviews on this page make it clear that this is a winner - if you're thinking about getting a compressor, this is a great one to try out to give you the idea of what it can do for you & whether you need to keep looking for another one (i won't!)

So easy to use. Just 2 knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is great. I don't think it can be improved. The unit is noiseless and doesn't color the signal.

Soldering and work inside are top quality.

Reliability : 10
Seems very solid. A 2 year warranty is offered also.

Great Pedal for a great price. Same thing as the Keeley but at half price.

Very easy to use. Two knobs. Pretty straight forward.

Sound Quality : 10
I decided to try this out on a whim because I had a Dyna Comp and wasn't satisfied with my tone. This unit fattens up my Strat and has sustain for days. I run a Strat to this compressor then directly to my amp (Traynor YCV20WR with Extension Cab). This unit is also very quiet. A dream come true. I was so impressed with it that I bought his TS808 Plus which sounds better than any other 808 clone I've tried.

Reliability : 10
The unit is housed in an MXR style box and is solid as a rock. I cracked it open and checked the work inside which is also top-notch.

Customer Support : 10
I've dealt with Russel Goudie twice (Comp and 808) and both times he was very helpful. Emails were returned promptly. The guarantee is awesome as well. I'm confident that if I ever have a problem with my pedals (which I doubt) Russel will deal them.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm a hobby guitarist and have been playing seriously for about 10 years. I mess around with SRV, Clapton (blues), Hendrix (the usuals) and I dabble in classic rock and big hair band stuff from the 80's (a guilty pleasure). The GoudieFX Compressor beats the MXR hands down. If it were stolen I would definitely replace it but this time I would buy the finished product - the one I bought was unfinished, just a metal box with a couple of knobs. It's a fantastic pedal for the money. Well worth a try if you are looking for a solid and great sounding compressor.

This is another followup by the owner of GoudieFX to once more refute the claim the compressor pedal is a BYOC kit. While I do not argue that my compressor is based on the Ross compressor...IT IS NOT A BYOC KIT!! I never even heard of BYOC until reading this. Brody, If you are unhappy with pedal I will gladly refund your money, but posting blatent lies about the product is uncalled for. This person never took the time to address his concerns with me or I would have provided a refund with no questions...I guess you can't please them all, but I try.

RUSSELL SAYS - "A BYOC kit is $75USD or $120USD assembled, he claims I sold him the same thing (and ripped him off) at $100USD...sounds fair to me???"

Firstly - I paid $50.00 for my BYOC Kit.
Secondly - I NEVER said he ripped me off.
Thirdly - My BYOC and my Goudie are EXACTLY the same, except for the colour.

Two knobs-sustain and level. Took about 2 minutes to get it set up and playing, and then another 5 minutes to find the sounds I wanted.

Sound Quality : 9
Can't give it a 10, but only because it's a compressor, and every compressor adds a little noise-but very little. I play a Fender Strat/Gibson LP thru a Dr Z. Route 66 with a Bogner 2x12 cab-my other effects are all Keeley mods (DS-1, BD-2, Katana Boost), and this pedal fits in beautifully.

Reliability : No Opinion
Just got the pedal, so can't comment, but it's built solid, and comes with a two year no hassle warranty, so I can't imagine any problems.

Customer Support : 10
Bought it directly from Russell Goudie (via ebay). His communication was great-seems like a good guy devoted to his product and his customers.

Overall Rating : 10
I a/b'ed this against a Keeley, and this Goudie sounds just as good to me, at about half the price. I play classic rock, 80's type metal, and party music for a semi-popular cover band. I am thrilled with this addition to my board.

This is a follow-up from the owner of GoudieFX to dispute a false claim that the GoudieFX Compressor is a relabelled BYOC kit. This is just not true. I challenge anyone to open up a BYOC and compare it with a GoudieFX, they don't even look similar (inside or out). A BYOC kit is $75USD or $120USD assembled, he claims I sold him the same thing (and ripped him off) at $100USD...sounds fair to me??? If you are good with a soldering iron I always encourage building your own effects because it's really fun :) Most people aren't handy with a soldering iron or would rather spend the time doing things they enjoy, those are my target customers.

Two knobs - what could be easier? The more you have, the more you may mess up yer tone.

Sound Quality : 9
What sound is a perfect 10? If there was a perfect 10 for anything, we'd all stop shopping. Yhat would be no fun. ;)
I am mostly a rhythm player and I don't use an amp. I use the Berringher G100 with a Boss Super Overdrive and a Tremolo Pan after my Goudie Compressor. The compressor is very transparent and there is no noise at all. I power it with a Boss PSA adaptor. This has really helped me out for the few leads I do take and it blows away my old Boss compressor that was real noisy!!!

Reliability : 8
I was gonna test this out by throwing it off a building. Problem is - I like it too damn much!!! There is a two year waranty so I ain't too worried. One thing - my AC plug is a little loose. That's just me nit picking... I had it put on the back instead of the side. This Russ guy will custumize things to your liking. It was better for my set up so he did it.

Customer Support : 9
The guy is quick to respond - usually within hours. No big company could ever do that.

Overall Rating : 9
I have to give this a high overall rating. I bought it and it does exactly what I wanted it to. It's been solid and very reliable with no noise. The service was great. I'd love to buy this guy a pint sometime!!! The pedal was also incredibly well priced compared to anything else I looked at. This guy obviously takes pride in his work!!!

Ease of Use : 10
Can't be any simpler. Two knobs, Sustain and Level. Settings I use is Sustain at 9:00 and Level at Max.

Sound Quality : 10
I just got the Goudie FX Ross Clone Compressor last night directly from Russel and I'm very pleased with it. There is no tone loss at all nor any signal reduction that I can hear. It is definitely a lot quieter than my CS-3 with a whole lot better sustain. It also doesn't get muddy when I use it for those over-driven rhythm sounds. Normally with the Boss CS-3 I had before this, I only use compression/sustain when I'm soloing. But with this, I can keep it going all the time.

My setup is:

Ibanez Artstar AS120/PRS Soapbar SEII/Fender 62 RI Tele MIJ --> Goudie FX Compressor --> George Denis WAH/Switch Plus --> Radial Tonebone Classic --> Fulltone OCD --> Keeley Modded DS-1 --> Boss BD-2 --> Boss CH-1 Super Chorus --> Ernie Ball Volume Pedal--> Fender The Twin/Peavey Classic 30

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank and don't have any concerns using it on a gig without backups at all.

Customer Support : 10
Russel "demoed" the pedal through his rig together with his other effects including a couple of G-Drives which I thought were excellent pedals. If I wasn't up to my neck with OD/Dist pedals right now (Tonebone Classic, Keeley DS-1, OCD, BD-2) I would've gotten one. While I was there, he painstakingly explained to me how he actually uses it in his rig, settings he used, etc.

Overall Rating : 10
I presently play in a rock cover band and have been playing guitar for the last 30 years. This is the best compression pedal I've ever tried and used. And I definitely recommend it. Also, aside from being a great pedal, it's less expensive than the other Ross clone compressors out there in the market made by the more well-known boutique pedal makers who charge twice as much as what these pedals cost. I would definitely get another one of this incase I lose it.

Absolutely dead easy to get a great sound. Ships with instructions, written by the guy who made the pedal (Russell Goudie), he gives sample setting to start, simply plug and play and it sounds great.

Sound Quality : 10
Godin Solidac>Rockman vol/wah>Goudie comp>Akai Intelliphase>Ibanez tube King>Arion SCH1 Chorus>Crate tdp preamp>Roland JC77. And with all that, the pedal is Q.U.I.E.T.

Manual suggests use battery or clean regulated power supply, i just tested it running all the above from a cheap-o wall wart, and it was still quiet.

Best of all this does not kill tone, treble still shines thru.

I bought this pedal based on reviews here, and on a wish to support businesses which provide service like this whenever I can. I have never seen something get so many 10s, but it will get em from me. Its that good.

Reliability : 10
I would reckon so. Top shelf components, built solid, will gig this without backup for sure.

Russell also gives 2 year no hassle warranty - cant argue with that.

Customer Support : 10
Emails answered straight away, great service, very pleasant to deal with.

If i ever want a nice 808 clone I know where I'm going.

Overall Rating : 10
Solo electric jazz/ blues/ country, whatever. Playing on & off 20+ years. Own Godin solidac, old profile strat copy, samick 335 copy, traynor ycv 40 and Roland JC 77, heaps of pedals, experimenting with different setups. Had a cheap-o comp it was horrible, comparing it to this is like chalk and cheese.

Love the way it doesnt mess with tone, just gives that thicker "feel" to the sound, if that makes sense. Makes the tube king sound fatter too, therefore I'm able to keep the gain very low, nice and clean.

Would definitely replace it if it was lost. I did a fair bit of research before I bought this, considering various options, MXR (pay for the name I reckon), Maxon 101 (probably the best of the rest), and old DOD, but this one cost very little more, is handmade, true bypass, it just outclassed the others.

Will use it at some gigs over the next few months - may do a further review after that. But I cant see the 10 score diminishing.

Two knobs, set up like the old Ross with the Level on the right and the Sustain on the left. You can take it out of the box and unless the level is all the way down, it's gonna sound awesome on any setting. Easy to find your sound!!

Sound Quality : 10
I play through a highly modified '78 Twin Reverb. Has the clean twin sound in one channel and a killer custom built distortion in the other. Guitars are two old strats and a '93 Hamer Studio FM. I use a variety of pedals and plug an Intellifex into the tube driven effects loop for my delays and chorus. This unit enhances every sound coming out of this amp. I've been playing professionally for over 20 years and this is the best compressor I've ever owned. Absolutely transparent and noiseless. Just makes everything sound better. Magic!!

Reliability : 10
Hand built like a tank. No concerns with its reliability at all. I'm selling all my other compressors on ebay.

Customer Support : 10
Russel Goudie is a great guy and is very helpful. He advised me against the dyna comp mod he offers because of my equipment and he was right. The standard Ross config was perfect. Incredible deal on these. I paid slighty under $100 US (Russel is in Canada).

Overall Rating : 10
I play a wide range of rock, blues and a little country. This pedal would enhance any styles sound. I own too much gear to mention but this new addition will be turned on at all times. If this were stolen I'd hunt the SOB down and castrate him with a guitar pick. I'd obviously replace it if he escaped my wrath. This is just a fantastic, musical, transparent compressor. Instead of dulling your sound it brightens it. Does what a compressor should do, doesn't stomp all over your sound like a cheap unit (dynacomps will cost you almost as much as this and are like a Ford Focus compared to a Mercedes..). Go to the website and order one. You won't believe how inexpensive they are (those prices are Canadian).

Ease of Use : 10
It was simple to get the pedal sounding fambulous, just turn the 2 knobs(level and sustain) to your liking.

Sound Quality : 10
I am currently using the vox valvetronix half stack and a gison les paul special. This particular pedal is not noisy at all, but it has the true analogue sound, which i think entails some GOOD noise.
This pedal always sounds great, it is the one pedal i keep on the WHOLE time I play, i do not have first hand experience with many pedals, but i am always listening to jam bands and was trying to get that tone of smooth, almost flute like(you know what i mean?) flow to my guitar, and this pedal did it!

Reliability : No Opinion
I have owned the pedal for a few months and nothing bad has happened yet. The quality of the souldering and parts are exquiset, so i think it will hold out for many years to come.

Customer Support : 10
He is a great man, quick and friendly email response. He has a 1 year warranty on his products.

Overall Rating : 10
I play jam music, this matches my style wonderfully. I have been playing for about 5 years, i only own a couple pedals and a les paul and a vox valvetronix. If it were stolen or lost i would buy this one AGAIN. I love its simplicity and LED, i wish my others had a light that BRIGHT. i dont really hate anything about it..once i had to use a battery(my powersupply STOPPPED WORKING(it was a Powerall))and the battery was hard to fit in it, but i dont use batteries. I chose this product over other ones that i looked at because i had faith in goudie judging by content of his product line up and the pedal's components. This definately contributes to my ability to produce music that i like, whether i am trying to match the sound of someone else or just get desired tones and sustain. I SWEAR I LOVE IT GIRL!

Simple design based on the infamous grey Ross Analog Compressor, but with enhancements. The unit has two basic controls, Sustain and Level, and housed in an MXR-style die-cast aluminum enclosure with standard Boss-type 9V DC jack (pin negative) with battery backup operation. The pedal features 3PDT True Bypass Switching (it really is totally invisible when clicked off) with a very cool blue LED light. These units come either in a plain aluminum, unmarked case or a nice light-blue powder coat painted case with white lettering, which I liked and purchased. A Dynacomp mod is also available, at no extra charge, which the manufacturer claims will have noticeably more high-end than the Ross version. I chose the Ross version and I couldn?t be happier.

Sound Quality : 10
Truly Amazing Sound!! I mainly use a classic Tele clone with SD Antiquity pups: alnico II in the bridge, alnico V in the neck > Teese Picture wah > GoudieFX Ross Comp clone > GoudieFX TS808 clone > Nobels ODR 1 > Maxon AD9 w/analogman mods > 1966 Fender Princeton Reverb. George L cables. This is the best sounding compressor I?ve ever used and is way ahead of the vintage Ibanez nine-series model I?ve used for years. There is not a bad sound in this unit. Hardly no noise at all. Any compressor will add noise, some more than others, but this is the quitest and cleanest sounding compressor I?ve heard. This pedal brings a newfound clarity and distinction to my individual notes and I?ve never been able to get my Tele to really hold on to pinched-harmonic notes the way I wanted, until I got this compressor. Play with this effect on for a while and then click it off and you?ll wonder what happened to your sound and your ability to shape and articulate notes and phrases. If you want maximum boutique quality tone without all the frills and high price tags of some of the other manufacturers, then take a serious look at Russell Goudie?s pedals. I took a chance on a relatively unknown pedal maker and I?m very pleased I did. I?ll bet he becomes very well-known as time goes by.

Reliability : 10
Manufacturer?s web site states the pedal has a two-year warranty. In an email exchange, he stated it had a two-year warranty. The papers that came with the pedal state one-year warranty. Either way, I?m not a bit concerned after dealing with him. The pedal is very well made and for the price, I couldn?t be more pleased. Russell Goudie seems to be trying to make the best quality product he can while at the same time holding down the price. I am very impressed with the way he dealt with me.

Customer Support : 10
I happened upon GoudieFX surfing around on ebay looking at effects and such. I checked out his website and I really liked what I saw. He has no-frills, straight-to-the-point simple adds that features neat sound clips to illustrate his pedals at various settings. At first, I was only shopping around for a Ross-style boutique compressor, but after further investigations, I decided to purchase his Tube Screamer 808 Standard as well. I emailed him and he promptly replied. I asked if I could call him, which was cool with him. After we talked and I made my decision, he hand-built both my pedals, had them completed, personally tested and shipped within a day or so. He emailed me letting me know they were on-the-way. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Russell Goudie is a very nice and knowledgeable fellow and really knows how to treat customers. In my opinion, he is without-a-doubt one of the best boutique pedal makers out there, but he seems as appalled by today's "boutique phenomenon" as we players are in regard to hype and price-gouging.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mainly blues, rockabilly and country stuff on the electric guitar. I?ve been playing for more years than I care to remind myself. This is a wonderful pedal! It should work great with all kinds of equipment, individual player?s styles and types of music. If something ever happens to this unit, I will not hesitate to order another just like it from him. GoudieFX is a class operation all the way. I am very picky and hard to please when it comes to my music equipment. Normally, I don?t write equipment reviews, but I?ve made an exception this time. I?ve rated Russell?s Ross-style Compressor with the highest scores because I truly mean it. If you are shopping for a high-quality boutique compressor or tube screamer, I feel you?d be making a mistake if you pass this guy by in favor of some of the more well-known makers who charge two-three times what these cost. If you aren?t necessarily shopping, at least go to his web site and look around.

This couldn't be easier. Sustain and Level. No manual required. Russell provided some suggested settings which are a good place to start.

Sound Quality : 10
I used this pedal with another one of Russell's, his GoudieFX TS808plus plugged into a Fender Blues Jr.. I first tried this with my PRS Custom 24 and was extrodinarily pleased with the fullness that it added to the sound and really softened the effect of spliting the coils. I tried it with my Gibson ES335 and wow...the tones that came out of this guitar were like nothing I had heard before. It had that professional edge to it that I had only heard from high end rigs from some private concerts (less than 200 people), that I was lucky enough to attend: Robbin Ford, Randy Bachman and Colin James. Where I found this compressor really excelled however, was in my single coiled guitars. I have a Muddy Waters Telecaster with Fralin Blues Special pickups, a custom Walnut Telecaster with Bill Lawrence L-280TN and L-290TL, and a Custom '52 Telecaster with Bardens. This is where this compressor just blossoms. Every note is rich and full. Bending notes has the sustain that I though I could only get from huge powerful amps. A lot of people don't like the Telecaster because of what they call "ice pick" treble of the bridge pickup. The GoudieFX compressor turns the shrillness into screaming sensuous grinning sounds. Add the TS808 to the mix and this is the sound I've been searching for all these years.

A lot of people experience the dreaded "60 cycle" hum from single coils and that it gets amplified with a compressor. I didn't have this problem with this compressor, but in all fairness, I have shielded all of my single coil guitars with copper foil. I haven't tried a lot of pedals but I have to say this is one of the very best I have ever used and makes my guitars sound the way I want them to.

Reliability : 10
I don't know how reliable it is, but it is built solid. I checked out the components and it looks first rate. All the solder points are nice and clean and it's laided out very logically.

I don't see any need for a backup. Like I said, the case is solid and all the pots, switches, jacks and components are first class.

Customer Support : 10
Russell is one of the nicest people that I've dealt with. Right up there with Beccky and Bill Lawrence. Answered all my questions and gave me good advice on my options and choices. My emails were answered quickly and none of my questions were dismissed as trivial.

Overall Rating : 10
I play Blues and classic rock. This pedal matched with his TS808plus gives me every tone I want and more. I've been playing for about 15 years primarily as an acoustic player, and transitioning to electric about 4 years ago. I've got several Telecasters with different boutique pickups installed (Bardens, Lollar, Bill Lawrence, and Fralins), which are my prime guitars. I also have aPRS Custom 24, Gibson 335, G&L Legacy with a bridge Humbucker, and a 2003 Les Paul Standard with WCR Filmore pickups. I have a couple of Martins and a nice Taylor 612CE equipped with a piazzo under saddle which sounds absolutely phenomenal through the compressor.

Lost or stolen - don't let me find you. I'd replace it in a nano second.

I did a lot of research before placing my order with Russell Goudie and could not believe the prices that some people were asking for so called "Boutique" pedals. And some of the reviews that were less that stellar about reliabilty, customer service, and even the product. Russell hand makes every pedal, and it shows. Take my advice and get one of these. Once the word gets out about these pedals, and, at the prices he charges, a waiting list for one won't be a surprise in the near future.

This is a great pedal, not as an alternative for a keeley, not for the "price", but simply a great pedal. I am a tele player and could never bring myself to use the "Nashville Squash" in my playing, I play classic tele tone loud and dynamics are part of my playing. I had tried the old standard mxr and did not like it, this pedal is great, not to mention this gentlemen spends no extra money on anything fancy, which fits my style perfectly. Im a musical whore, I play in 5 bands and live in bars 4 nights a week.

Sound Quality : 10
I like simplicity, I use an Am.St. Tele and a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia 2x10 combo with this compressor and a tube screamer (although I have one of Goudie 808 plus on the way). As I mentioned above, I don't use much compression just enough to emulate what my amp would do cranked up. I mostly use this pedal for very little comp. (around 8 or 9 o'clock) and sometimes simply for a boost pedal. Yes, this pedal is that transparent, I really use this pedal mostly for a boost. I'm not a modern tone "nazi" like I read all of these people raving about, however, I do take the pain of having a solid sound and this pedal is solid.

Reliability : 10
I don't know where most of these people get their money, but I rarely have a backup of anything. I keep some batteries, tubes, and strings, thats about it. Then again, I gig 2 to 4 times a week, sometimes more or less depending on the time of year. Oh, the original point was, hell yes I depend on it, and I never have a backup. If this pedal went down, I would finish the damn gig, send it back to have it fixed.

This cat is no frills, no *****, he just builds great pedals and does what he says. That is perfect in my pragmatic world.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I play alt-country, country, blues, yada, yada....or better yet most roots forms of music, so lets call it rock and roll. This pedal is great for class A tube/single coil combo sounds(single coils are what I use, Im not sure I would need a comp. with humbuckers). If it were stolen, I would buy another. There is really nothing that I dislike about this pedal. It is very musical, but like everything else, its what you make of it, the potential is most certainly there. The pedal won't make you a player, but if you are, you will enjoy employing this pedal.

There are no bad sounds in this unit. Very easy to use. Only two controls, Sustain and volume. Not much else.

This is the best pedal compressor I have used yet and i have used all the boutique units AM and Keeley. All of them are good this is just a little sweeter cause the price and tone.

I am using this with several guitars, bread and butter, Strats, teles and Les pauls. Fx I am using fulltone Clyde wah-> Foxrox CC1-> Goudie Compressor-> RC- Booster AC- Booster- BB preamp- Boss FV300L- MM4- DL4- VL AmpSwitcher in stereo to Deluxe Reverb and Vox AC15.

No severe noise increase at all. Compressor is going to add noise. I used to use MXR Dynacomp. I still like the unit but this just adds a cleaner richer tone and smoother compression with less noise.

I liked the unit so much I bought both of his 808 units and try and swap them in and out with the Xotic units depending on the venue.

Appear very well built with no issues. I would feel comfortable gigging without a backup.

Russell has been great with product support or any issues. Very friendly guy like Marrio form Axess. Maybe it's in the Canadian water? It comes with a 1 year no hassle garantee.

Great unit for all styles. It adds smooth sustain and great response and articulation of your notes and fingers. It retains all the dynamics of your playing and adds great compression as well. I would easily get another as they are a great price.

I'ts a compressor based on the Ross compressor (no longer available, but soooooo sought after). Unbelievable period. I used it in a recording session today and sold one to the engineer and a guitar player in the room next door who heard what I was doing with it! Think thick Pink Floyd leads and slim Dire Straits style cleans (second position strat).
Paid for itself in the first 20 minutes of my session.

This is the COMPRESSOR KILLER! I've owned every one of the Holy Grail Compressors and this one beats them all. O.K., gee, I own a #$%^load of guitars, but I mainly play Teles and Strats (sounds killer through these). As a test in the session I did today I used a Gibson 335 for a track and I got closer to Robin Ford tones with this pedal than I have ever accomplished in the past. Using it in the the studio through a Fender USA Pro Jr. (In my opinion the best studio amp EVER) I got subtle DUMBLE like clean/slightly dirty sounds, and convincing vintage style compressor results.

Just got it, but I play ALOT. Looks built well, one year guarantee.

Russells there and and has responded to me immediately. I have to say that, although his products are available through e-bay, I heard of him word of mouth through other session players here in Los Angeles and that sez a lot about the product, beleive me!

I play all styles of music, but I specialize in R&B. All that don't matter, what I'm tellin my home boys out there is CHECK THIS COMPRESSOR OUT FIRST! Save yourself some time!

This Clone of the infamous Ross Compressor is identical to the original with regards to knob layout. There is a Sensitivity knob on the left, and a Level knob on the right. If you are accustomed to using compressors, you know to play around with the Sensitivity until you find your home. It could not be easier to use. The on/off switch is True-Bypass and sure enough it's invisible when clicked off.

I use a Japanese Reissue 62' Jazzmaster through an AnalogMan Chorus through an Ernie Ball VP Jr. Volume Pedal, into a US made Fender Blues Junior. If you can play, this rig rips!!!
The Goudie pedal is virtually noise free. I've plugged in AnalogMan Juicers and BiComps and this is even quieter. The more you turn up the Sens., the more noise, but barely. This is true for all compressors though. The effect is clearly audible, as it should be. The clincher of course is that after several hours of screwing around with it, I ventured into 81' Andy Summers, Police land. Chimes and sparkles all there. Next, Cocteau Twins-ville. Sure, any great compressor will get you there, but for some reason this one gets you MORE there. Inspirational? One last thing, once you've had this on for a while, turn it off and see how long it takes before you say, " What happened to my sound?"

Just got it so don't know. I've e-mailed the maker, Russell, several times and he unconditionally guarantees the thing for a year. My radar says "nothing to worry about". This is after all a one man operation, for now anyway. The fellow obviously knows his stuff, since he's well aware of Keeleys and the like. I would easily take it out to play. It comes in an MXR sized case.

I took a chance on this new entry into the FX world through E-Bay. I have really great luck on E-Bay and this purchase was no different. I could not be happier with this thing. It was between a Keeley and this for me and I took a chance on saving half the money. I will probably never think about a compressor again. I'm curious as to why folks are so obsessive these days with buying and reselling endless boutique pedals and less concentrated on the playing. I recall seeing Hiram Bullock back in the day shredding with a DynaComp. All in his hands.
