Ease of Use

It has four knobs. Gain (the amount of distortion), filter (tone), normal (dry signal) and distortion (distortion siganl. Like all of the recent Guyatone effects, it's super idiot-proof.

Bass players who use distortion probably know that the Pro-Co Ratt pedal sounds good on bass. Well, this guy sounds much like a Ratt. The big difference is, of course, you can mix the normal and distortion signals. The filter knob (tone) doesn't get very trebly. In fact, sometimes I want to get more "sizzle". When I record, I use it with my Bass Sansamp DI and turn the pressence of the Sansamp up to get more highs. It sounds good that way.

Seems sturdy enough. Had it for about two years and had no problem.

As I mentioned before, it sounds much like a Ratt. I also use a Boss Hyper Fuzz when I want more crazier distortion sounds but the Guyatone is better for playing smooth, melodic parts. There so many distortions out there, I don't want to compare them. Other distortions that sound good on bass are: Boss Metal Zone (crank that low end!) Boss Bass Overdrive (I had a hard time deciding between this and the Guyatone) and Zoom Driver.
