Very easy to use. just turn the knobs until you hear what you like. A lot of it has to do with the dynamics of your playing, and i love the dry-blend switch that mixes in clean signal for less extreme tones.

THIS PEDAL IS NOT SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR BASS. SO WHY RATE IT A "1" BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE IT FOR ELECTRIC BASS?????
Of course, it CAN be used for bass, but the 'Q' was designed for guitar. I think this sounds awesome. doesn't suck tone TOO much, of course a buffered pedal is going to change your pure tone a little bit, but IME guyatone pedals don't add or subtract too much.

Never had any problems with this or with the TZ fuzz pedal i used to have. Not a huge fan of the rubber bottom design, but never really had problems with that either.

Great pedal. Really an all-purpose envelope (auto) filter type of pedal, as opposed to a traditional wah.

For me, this doesn't work as a wah effect. The decay control is nice in theory, letting you control the length of the wah, but on the settings that enable a wah, I got either complete squash or overkill volume.

Where this excels is when you play it so it doesn't create a wah--it generates an overwhelming low end.
I used it with a P-Bass running into a Gallien-Krueger MB-150, and it put out so much bass that the amp fell off the cabinet it was sitting on. Broke the input jack, which is not a simple repair on Gallien-Kruegers...

Pretty reliable so far, but the rubber ring is going to go sooner or later.

I'm a bit of an envelope-filter geek. I've got an original Mutron III, a Q-Tron, and an old Boss AutoWah. All of them give a much better wah effect than this. But this is really cool for creating a monster-bubble bass sound.
It's pretty similar to the DOD FX-25B, in that the wah sound is pretty lame but you can get that monster low end. But I use this more than I do the DOD.

Only two knobs.
One of which, the "Threshold" has to be turned all the way up to get a wah sound.

Pretty awful.
Basically un-useable.
Even with threshold all the way clockwise my FENDER P-bass could barely get it to "wah."
I admit that I mostly like to play with a somewhat light touch with my amps turned way up.Even when I aggressively plucked I couldn't get much effect.I must interject that my beloved P-bass has a way hot pickup(Rio Grande MUY) which is raised very high just barely below the strings.
I attempted an active 5-string bass played with a pick and got a little more wah but there was an annoying "click" sound on the attack of every note. Crap.

Nice little metal box. Seems well made on the outside.
I shall be getting rid of this abomination before I have time to formulate an opinion about reliabilty.

I give these bozos at Guyatone a 3 for at least answering the phone.
Got their phone # from the website.
Some tech or maybe a sales guy answered.
I politely explained my problems to this very rude guy and asked if maybe my pedal was merely defective. He stated: "No,they ALL sound like that."
I said--"let me get this straight, even the single most common bass guitar(Fender-P)will require the threshold at 100% just to coax out a subtle wah and any other settings you will get NO sound???"
He says: "Yep"
I say "thanks and have good one" which can be accurately translated to--I will NEVER buy one of your crappy effects again.

I have had much experience with many M A N Y envelope/filter/wah effects and this one is clearly the worst.
It is obvious that most current bass filter type pedals are geared for thumb slap pop style(which I despise)and only respond sonically to that style. The Guyatone BR2 must certainly be in that category.
I string my FENDER basses with flatwounds and play with my fingers.
When I step on an envelope filter I want BLACK SABBATH "NIB" or some variation of the "Bootsy" sound.
Even when I slammed my fingers against the strings over where the neck joins the body in the stlye of Geezer I had to stuggle in vain to get any sound out of the Guyatone.
Even at under $100 this pedal should at least perform the task as described by the manufacturer.
Electro Harmonix Bassballs is only about $20 more but is about 4-5 times better than the Guyatone.

ON/OFF switch, one knob for THRESHOLD, and one for DECAY. Pretty easy. Threshold contols sensitivity and decay controls speed.

Let me start out by saying that my rating is based soley on my personal tastes and style of playing. I think that a lot of other people might not like the sound or the dynamics of this pedal. That being said, I LOVE this pedal. It doesn't sound much like any other auto-wah I've used and it definitely has a unique sound of it's own. The promotional literature claims that it sounds like a Mutron MicroV but, I've never played one so, I wouldn't know. The unit tends to be a little loud if you don't pluck/slap hard enough to kick in the wah but this actually works well with my style and I probably wouldn't change it if I could. This thing also sounds f'n great before a distortion, fuzz or overdrive (used it with Depth Charge, Big Muff, and Ibanez Phat Hed). It's almost as if it was made for that. I like it clean , too. Although it is not nearly as adjustable or versitile as most of the other envelope filters out there, it is the sound I was looking for that I couldn't get out of the others. So, for me, it's a 10.

I havn't really had it long enough to know but, if I were to get a back-up it would be another one of these.

Like I said, this pedal isn't for everyone. I'd definitely recomend trying one before you buy one. If your looking for something more traditional then get one of the popular ones out there. For me, this is perfect. It's also fairly cheap compared to the others and travels quite easily due to it's small size.
