I was looking for a boost that was small, and this box is perfect. I like the overdrive from this pedal. At the end of the boost knob, it get a really cool overdrive sound. It comes on all at once. I wish the sweep was smoother, but it does sound great. I'm knocking one point off for the abrupt boost knob sweep, but otherwise, it's perfect. It adds a little fatness, which sounds great for leads.

It's small, but seems very durable. I've only owned it a couple weeks.

I have not contacted Guyatone, but they are distributed by Godlyke, who I have dealt with. They were very helpful, and courteous.

This pedal really fit my need for a small booster that didn't effect my tone negatively. This pedal works great, sounds great, and is very small. I like the overdrive it produces also.

I bought this pedal without hearing it from Musician's Friend, and I was pleasantly surprised. I've owned dozens of boutique boost pedals, and they all have their own thing going on. My favorite has been the Fulltone FB-1 Fat Boost. I think the Guyatone Cool Boost is sort of an improved clone of the FB-1, because they can be set up to sound identical. The Guyatone add some fatness, just like the Fulltone, but the boost knob has more grit than the FB-1's gain control. The Guyatone adds tons of clean boost/headroom with the Boost knob from minimum to noon. From noon on, the Guyatone adds grit, and at maximum, provides lots of overdrive. I'm not talking about Overdrive from pushing an amps input, this pedal has overdrive of it's own. It can easily push a tube amp into saturation, but it can be used as an overdrive pedal as well with the Boost control turned up.
I'm thinking of getting another, because I love the overdrive this tiny box produces. It has a flat response, unlike most overdrive pedals. There's a ton of Overdrive available through the Boost knob; it produces much more drive than a Tubescreamer. It doesn't get flabby at high volumes either. I'd like one 1st in my chain as an overdrive, and another last in my chain for a clean boost.
It's true-bypass, and doesn't effect my tone in bypass mode at all.
I'm giving it a 10 because it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and more. It's TB, and has a very small footprint, so it's the most pedalboard-friendly booster/overdrive out.

I've owned a couple other mini Guyatione pedals, and have never had one die. I gig 2-4 times monthly, and this has been on my board a few months without any issues at all.

I'm mainly playing a Gibson SG into a Zinky Blue Velvet amp. I get my cleans and overdrives from the Zinky. The Cool Booster works very well with my setup for everything from clean boost to heavy overdrive, and everything in between. I don't usually give out tens, but I love this pedal for it's tones, and the fact that it's true-bypass, and tiny.
Pedalmakers should take note of the fact that this is a very small pedal, but Guyatone managed to place the in and output jackls, as well as the power jack on the top. As a result, this box will fit just about anywhere, on the most crowded pedalboard.
