Guyatone MM-2

Not extremely complicated... it's a guitar effects box. Unless you have arthritis & are unable to turn the controls, there wouldn't be a problem. I don't care for the switch however... I much prefer the boss-type switches. It's just unfortunate that boss distortions are dreadful, so I have to live with the damned noisey Flip switch on this one.

I play a Charvel Randy Rhodes with an EMG-81 which really blends well with this pedal... it's a perfect match. The MM-X is noisey, but it's a distortion, what do you expect? It's nothing my Rocktron Hush can't clear up. The effect is kind of weak... I have the level to the max & it just barely gets the tone I need out of it. Bottom line though, it does 'get' the right tone. It is good for the Blackest of metal... nothing really fierce but no complaints. In contrast to it's competition (Boss, Line6, Ibanez, Akai, VS... etc.) there really is no close match.

I haven't had it for very long... but I haven't had a problem this far. The switch seems to have a mind of it's own at the worst of times though... & for that I will give it a 7.

I haven't had a need to contact them so far. I'm hoping it stays that way.

As I said it's great for BM. It makes all my other effects sound better. My chain includes a Korg volume, this MM-X, a Rocktron Hush, an H2O chorus/delay, a Line6 MM-4, & my Boss preamp. I haven't been playing all that long, but long enough to try out enough equipment to know what's good & this pedal is one of the best distortions you could ask for. If something happened to this pedal I would purchase another, most likely. On occasions I'll say that I wish this pedal wasn't so weak... but it's still better then anything else, so I guess I'm just not easily pleased. Although I have been impressed by the MM-X & it's a decent value. I highly recommend this item. 9!

i use jackson and esp guitars.. it's noisier than shit, noise gate obviously fixes it. i use crate amps, it sounds fine. it's hard to get a lot of good tones outta this thing, it's too... well... gutless and it has no balls.. kinda like the MT-2

No. it's not dependable-- although if your cable turns the knobs, put fuckin tape on them. the switch feels like shit.

It's alright i guess.. i play metal stuff... machine head, meshuggah, pantera... it's okay for that stuff... if i were to say anything-- it'd be: I'm glad that i'm not crazy as that loon "Argnonath" or whatever the fuck his name is... keep your lunacy to yourself you sick bastard.

Well, this is a simple distortion box. Gain, Low, Mid&Frequency, High, and Level Knobs. The name says it all - Metal Monster.

First of all i changed the original crappy chinese tube for a TESLA NOS ECC83. This definitely makes a great difference. I'm going to try some more. The Tesla doesn't have so much heights and the tone is warmer. I've used it for a year or two with a solidstate combo and my sound was always OK. But after i've revealed the beauty of Real tube tone, it cannot satisfy me through any ss amp. But it is not the pedals fault ... But with a tube power amp, even if it is an old PA type amp with a custom made 4x12" type amp it sounds terrific. I play death and sometimes norwegian or melodic black and this pedal can do it all for me. My guitar is a BC Rich Ironbird with Seymour Duncan pickups tuned to D#. BTW the detuning gives it a VERY nice sound! As i don't have my own great amp (just that combo and the PA, which is kind of very old) i usually take just the pedal with me. It allows me to make my sound on almost any amp. I only wish it wasn't so noisy. It does sound best with gain near maximum, it sounds like crap if the gain is low. But you wouldn't use it for anything else than metal, would you. Very responsive and versatile EQ.

I've played many gigs and countless rehearsals with it and it is still in a great condition. I don't care about the tube, beceause it is a 12AX7 preamp tube, which usually lasts for more than 10 yrs in regular amps. I own it for almost three years. It got kicked, dropped frozen, heated and it sound still great!

The only thing I hate about it is, that if you're moving too much on stage, and your guitar cable hits the knobs, the sound goes to hell as they are very easy to turn.

If you have a tube amp with a clean channell and you want to play metal, get this one. Much better than BOSS Metal Zone to my ears. If you put in the right tube then it is not buzzy at all. MT-2 was too buzzy for me. And for the guy below: Yes it does have a GREAT Blackmetal sound. I send you greetings from Czech Republic.

There are just three setting, one dist, one for output leve, and a litlle stuff which is kind of an equalizer, but with only three possible settings, so if, you need the manual, you're a subman !!

I play only True Black Metal, and this pedal is the best! It kicks the MT-2's ass!!!! It kills the Death Metal by DOD, It's simly the most brutal, cold, and hatefull distortion pedal out ther!!

I don't know, my model is special, it can't broke caus it's a magical one!! No more seriously, I've benn using this for less than a year so I can't really tell... I havent got any probs yet.
