Ease of Use : 9
very easy to use but takes a bit of tweasking to get a good sound

Sound Quality : 10
once you get the knack to it you can dial in any sound from heavy rock to death metal
no clicks or fuzzes
good tone out of one tube and you can notice

Reliability : 9
ive gigged with it but only as a solo boost pedal not as a dist pedal it worked fine and the extre volume helped
metal cover but as always the tubes are fragile

Customer Support : No Opinion
not needed yet

Overall Rating : 10
i play all metal and heavy rock and this pedal allways comes through but also getting a TS9 for more variety its a great pedal to play loud but as with all high gain pedals it is a bit noisy but a good player can hide the noise also there is plenty of gain i have it about 3:00 and its heavy enough for slipknot or slayer

It's quite easy to use. Very tweakable and easy to get a satisfying high-gain metal tone.

Sound Quality : 5
Awesome metal tone. You can dial in a bite, heavy marshall-esque mids tone, scooped, etc. You can get pretty much any metal tone you want. And anyone who complains that 1 tube won't give you tube tone needs to study up. Lots of metal tone comes from the preamp section, which this mimics. Also, it's designed to be a hybrid tube/SS tone. So, you needs to understand what you've got before you complain. I like it. BUT!!!!!! The one I bought was way too noisy to be useful. Maybe it is broken, I got it used. I rated it 5 because it has great tone, but it's too noisy.

Reliability : 5
It looks quite solid in it's metal case, but I think mine is broken, sh oh well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 3
if not for the noise, I'd rate this an 8, but since it's noisy because I think it's broken, I'll rate it a 3.

Very easy to use - has a vast array of metal sounds. Their website gives you some good settings for heavy rock and metal.

Sound Quality : 10
I was blown away from the tone. Great articulation, HEAVY heavy sound, screaming leads loaded with harmonics, great saturated sound. Anyone that thinks you can't get a fat distoted metal tone from just one tube really needs to get their head examined. This pedal is now defining my tone. You can get any sound from heavy blues to great fat solid articulated distorions the way they would sound on some very boutique amps.

I run my thru the clean channel of a Peavey XXL (highs 10 o'clock, mids 1 o'clock, bass at 3 o'clock) with the "modern" option selected). I have a Lexicon effects unit in the Peavey's effect loop. The cab is a 4x12 Marshall 1960a loaded with 4 Celestion 75W speakers. Simple set-up - Guitar is an all black Shecter BlackHawk loaded with EMG 81/85. All I can say is the set-up ROCKS. And I don't even crank the amp to get the speakers to that sweet spot they really start to open up the sound.

It can be noisy as with any tube pre-amp but simply buy an ISP Decimator or similar noise reduction pedal or rack unit. Simple.

All I can say is that this pedal is a great sound for classic heavy metal, 80's hair band, heavy rock music. This pedal to me sounds like a Peavey 5150 in a pedal form. No joke!

Buy one!

Reliability : 10
I have had it for 2 years and I bought it used on Ebay and it has never had a problem.

Never needed to deal with the company

Overall Rating : 10
I am a bedroom heavy metal rocker and I know my tone. Don't care much for darker flubbier sound of Mesa and have I have outgrown the Marshall sound. This pedal tickles my knickers.

I have 2 other distortion pedals in my repertoire and those are the ZOOM Tri-Metal (TM-01) and the IBANEZ SM-7 Smashbox both of these are also GREAT pedals for the hevay metal sound and each has a different slant on the genre. All 3 of these distortion pedals shine, but the GUYATONE MMX Metal Monster is usually my first choice when I pick up the guitar.

Buy one!

Easy to us but hard to find a sweet spot.

Sound Quality : 2
I bought mine from ebay because i didn't want to pay the $170 bucks. Im so gald i didn't fork out all that cash for this thing. It's a joke. How much tube tone are you going to get from one tube? Im sick of seeing companies putting one tube in something and calling it tube tone. They just want to charge more money for there crappy product. When i plugged it in i could not believe what i was hearing from a stompbox that list for $170. It's really noisy and just dosent have tone. I play rock/metal and found this to be useless. I bought it wanting an upgrade and found it was a downgrade.

Reliability : 9
so far so good.

It just dosent measure up. I have owned great gear and bad gear through my life and this is medium-low over all. Maybe i was expecting more and i guess i should. If it were stolen i would find the guy and beat him for stealing from me, then i would let him keep it.

Its a stomp box! how hard could it be?

Sound Quality : 6
The sound is ok but it does need help from a eq pedal. It's also noisy as hell which will cause you to use a noise gate that will hurt your tone. It's not as good as my peavey rock master, btw was much, much, cheaper than the metal monster! The price is way to high for this unit. I wouldn't pay more than fifty bucks for it. It's nice to have on your board but i wouldn't rely on it as my main sound.

Reliability : 9
mine used and it still running.

never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 6
I play rock & metal and it's no better than the usually stop boxes. If you find one used for around $50.00 it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. It's not that this pedal is good or bad it's just ok, but not worth the $170.00 that music stores are charging!

This pedal is not easy to get a good sound of. the curve on the eq sucks! as a pedal can not be that hard to tweak. Lets be real !
.

Sound Quality : 7
That said it will compare to the metal zone and others however I bought this new from the store for 169.00 plus interest. Big mistake
The sound qulaity is ok if you run another eq and compressor. Waves bundle makes it sound alot better but waves bundle is 25x more expensive. Thats a big price to pay to make a distortion pedal sound good. keep in mind I'm coming from a pro perspective. this pedal is great for local metal bands but in the studio it needs help

Reliability : No Opinion
well mine still works. reliablity is a tough issue you may get one new straight from the factory and it doesn't work.

Customer Support : No Opinion
uhhhhh no support needed here. Its a distortion pedal.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Well let me try this with the new triple rect I'm buyingh in a couple days. If this makes a huge difference I'll be cback to let you know! If not only buy this pedal for 100.oo or less don't be a dumbass like myself and pay 169 + tax + interest and shipping. we all make bad decisions sometimes now don't we?

very easy to use, just like any other distortion pedal..within the first five minutes of owning it i got a kick ass distortion out of it

Hears my set up. Jackson Ps-3 Rhodes with EMG 81 or BC rich nj warlock with EMG 81 through Metal Monster,Aphex Big Bottom/Aural Exciter,Boss Ns-2 noise suppressor and into a crate Blue Voodoo 120 with celestion Vintage 30/G12h loaded avatar cabs..i play mostly Black/Death metal and hardcore.and i can get the most ass kicking sound out of this pedal i have owned the Boss Metalzone and the DOD Death metal distortion and i can honestly say they are nothing compared to this you get huge chunk in the lower ends and screaming highs

Reliability : 10
I purchased mine used about a month or so ago and have gigged with it about 4 times not to mention all the band practices and so far nothing has gone wrong,i would deffinetly gig without a backup and have...

5-knobs, all self explanatory. Very simple. Only gripe is the 12-volt power supply. (9 volts are standard... COMFORM!)

Sound Quality : 7
Excellent chunky, crunchy distortion - simply fabulous, in fact... but TOO MUCH NOISE!!! The noise was so bad that it got in the way of doing good, well-defined runs. If all you want to do is play power chords, by this. IF you're taking a solo along the way, keep looking.

Decent pedal... not worth the money, in my opinion: I'm going to go the distance and get something that's true bypass, is quieter, and so forth...

Is has a 3 band EQ ( well 4, actually. the frequency knob regulates the sharpness of the sound.) It takes a bit of tweaking to get a good sound from it, and it is really responsive to different guitars and amps.
But it is easy, even with all controls flat it gets a decent sound.
Well, easy..

Sound Quality : 10
Wow, this little kitten hasn't stolen its name! It's metal and metal all the way ( I must say that when I backed of the volume of my guitar I got a nice rock sound). It can go from Gothic sounds to death to that utra harsh hardcore sound. The Frequency knob plays a great deal in the sound, so you must master that first. I think the tube builth inside makes the MMX sound a little warmer than the other Metal style pedals
It is too easy to just get it and go for that super scooped mid sound, but in a band that won't work. It is important to leave some mids in the EQ settings, just to get heard in the mix. What sounds heavy in the bedroom might not do it live with a band.
I experienced some hum at first, and I didn't think it had a lot of output. This was due to a faulthy power suply on my Warwick pedalboard( this pedal needs 12v power). I got a decent adaptor today and those problems dissapeared. It has some buzz, but it also has a huge amount of gain.

Reliability : 10
It is builth like a tank

Good pedal for the style.
Some NU metallers keep on raving about the Smashbox ( you know " THIS PEDAL ROOOOOLES FOR SLIPKNOT SOUNDS!!!) but this pedal has a lot warmer and overal more versatile sound ( thanks to that frequency knob)
I love it and incorporated it into my live setup.

Easy, if you can twist knobs, you can work it.

Sound Quality : 6
This is subjective of course, but in my opinion, it sounds bad. I never knew what anyone was talking about when they would say that something colors your sound. This transforms your guitar into a buzzy, nasal-distorted sound. If you crank the bass up, it does get chunky (think thump-thump palm mutes), but with the bass cranked that high (to get that effect), everything else is washed out. This is a "Metal" pedal though, so it may be perfect for you. It would be a waste to put this between an expensive guitar and amp. Maybe through a cheap guitar and amp it rocks.

Reliability : 6
From the color pictures I had seen of it it looked bullet-proof, until I got it. It comes in a cheap box that has "made in china" written all over it. The switch looks like one of those cool heavy duty ones that more expensive pedals come with, but the minute you press it you know its a cheap copy (feels like junk). There are vents near the tube, but it doesnt glow like a pre-amp tube in an amp. Besides this, I do not know much else about it, It may last forever.

Gives an OK sound I guess, but you are not going to get that awsome studio metal sound that your favorite metal band has. I think there are some $50 solid state pedals that will rock this thing. It is going right back for a refund.
