switch on, lvl, gain, wait for it to warmup. It does get hot, though after a while. But, Bruce Springsteen gigged with the overdrive version of this, so I guess it can stand up. Maybe I'll cut some slats in the side, maybe.

Nice, crunchy, yet a bit smooth (from the tube, and yes, I opened it up, it's still there). Not high gain pedal, but good enough for rock. Id like to see how it interacts with like a darker voiced amp. I'm using a pignose, in my apartment. What do you expect, a dual rec? Anyway, I like it with my strat more than my Paul, but thats just me.
I wish it had a little more volume, though, so I crank up my amp. If I can mod it for a bit more volume, I think it would be better.

Im happy I got it. Its a bit smoother than my other medium gain pedals (MIJ ds-1, etc). I dig it alot, but I may try to boost the volume a tad, and maybe cut slats for tube collage, but then again, it may not need it. Ask Bruce....

It's easy to use because there aren't too many knobs on it.

The souhjnd is pretty good, however it lacks a littl bit of distortion and bite, but for me it's quite o.k., the gain could also be increased by turning the level up to 10, not by the gain. I've made the experience, that the TD1 looses a little bit of his treble if it's connected with transistro amp, but in use with valve amp it's perfect to get an rock sound. As a minus I would say there isn't enough punch in the sound of the TD1.

It almost works pretty good, there's only the danger to turn out the power with the feet.

I think it matches good with my Gordon smith guitar and my old Roto tube top.
I had to learn how to use this equipment, but so I had the chance to get down with the real r'n'r.

i've been using this with a Marshal, a Peavey and a number of other amps i've owend over the years. The sound is creamy but lacks punch to my taste, and also could use more gain. BUT it it has a sweet natural sound and the gain level is liniar, unlike some solid state distortion boxes i've tried which had little differnence in tone quality when using different amounts of gain. Also it doesn't have a fuzzy blurred sound which i think something like the Boss DS-1 has.

The unit has a sweet sound. It's fun to play with at home because it has a nice tone. But when it comes to something that should kick ass this is not the unit. It lacks punch and sometimes I felt that the output level was low so when you switch from clean to distortion your level dropes which isn't good offcourse, especialy not live.
I've been playing guitar for 15 years and at one point found that it was better to use an ADA MP1 for a good distortion.
overall it's a sweet unit but not very practical. Also it doesn't work on batteries so you have to plug to electricity which isn't very convenient. i wish it had more gain.
if it'd get stolen I wouldn't try to find the same unit again. i'd try something else.

This is probably the best valve based distortion i've heard.Could have been built with a tone control but I think thats being a bit picky.I use it with an MXR 6 band EQ ,on its own it's a bit trebly.Guitar wise I use a Fender Lead 2 and Bronco and I use an old Australian 60W Head(Eminar)and a 3X10 cab.

It's solid enough, the only thing that worries me though is the lack of air vent near the valve as it would get a bit hot in there.

In addition to what I've already said this thing beats the hell out of the Tube Driver and Dean Markely Overlord(I owned both of these once-thought they were horrible). But I still prefer my Yardbox to this though,I think they sound a bit similar but the Yard box has more break-up,which is what I like.I'd be upset if it got lost or something. It's also a good idea to experiment with different valves and brands too.
