It's a stompbox - I've yet to find one that wasn't easy to use (late 80s-90s digital multiFX pedals were abit tedious, but even those were generally self-explanatory).

I traded in a Dunlop stereo tremolo when I got this. I miss the Dunlop's ability to blend the LFO waveshape from full sine to full square, but ultimately there are so many great sounds available from this pedal with less tweaking that I can't complain.

Sound Quality : 9
This is the best sounding tremolo pedal I have tried, and beats most of the built-in vintage tremolos I've heard. Absolutely buries the built in tremolo on my '68 Sunn Solarus, which is a pretty nice effect in its own right.

I actually LIKE the slight volume boost the pedal gives. Most tremolos seem to sap a bit of the guitar's power (for lack of a better term) when I kick them in, and with a band they tend to make the guitar disappear in the mix a bit. Even though the peak volume is a bit louder than the bypassed signal with this pedal, it helps the guitar jump out of the mix a bit, and doesn't bother me in the least.

I compared this pedal against every other tube tremolo in the store when I bought it, and settled on this one after noticing that when it was on but had the depth set to 0 and thye tone topped off (no noticeable effect from either) the tone was BETTER - slightly warmer and richer - than when it was bypassed or removed from the signal chain entirely.

Reliability : No Opinion
I'm a bit sceptical of the plastic jacks, but it seems solid enough. I've had it for three years now, but don't play out with it much so it has been treated pretty gently. I couldn't really say how it will hold up, but if the Guyatone TZ-2 I've been using for bass lately is any indication, its a lot more solid than it looks.

Never needed it.

Overall Rating : 9
It's definitely pricey, but no more so than the Dunlop I had, which feels a lot more solid but was not even in the same class tonally. The main competitor for me at the time was the Electro Harmonix Wiggler, which was roughly the same price and offered more control options, but was also far inferior tonally (it seemed to make tthe tone slightly brittle and strident no matter how you set it, the opposite of the Flip). If you've got the budget and are serious about the tone of your tremolo, trying this pedal is mandatory.

This unit was super easy to get going. I just plugged it in and had what I wanted within a minute. It has 2 knobs, speed & depth. Under each knob is a corresponding switch that basically serves as a high/low switch for each knob. When I use it, I keep the knobs set and only adjust the swicthes for more/less of each feature. Does this make sense? Ha ha... Really, it's easier than a lot of pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
Set-up: 87 US Ultra Strat through a 68/71 Marshall Super Bass 100watt w/4x12. My board contains a Deluxe Memory Man, Big Muff, MXR Dist+ and Small Stone.

The pedal is not noisy. It's not True Bypass, but I don't have an opinion yet on whether I care. One thing that does bug me is the fact that it DOES boost my signal noticably when on. I may be looking into getting that fixed if possible.

Overall, it has to get a 10. This is the best sounding, take that back, most beautiful sounding tremelo pedal i've used/heard. I absolutely love it and it's a big part of me and my band's sound. I wanted the tone of an early Fender built in Trem - this is even better. Warm-ass vintage tube tone PLUS more flexibilty.

I SO recomend this pedal!

Reliability : 10
It doesn't look like a tank, but I've had it for over year. I play roughly 150+ a year with this thing, not to mention a million practices. It has not failed me once - and i'm not a gentle player! I stomp on my shit (with much respect).

The reason it gets a 10, is because recently I spilled a good share of Pabst Blue Ribbon on my pedal - it DID act funny immediately after (which scared me) so I unhooked it and finished the show. The next day, no problems - perfect. I cleaned with spray and all is well. That's pretty rock n roll if you ask me.

Haven't had to talk with them. Warranty is majorly past and void.

Overall Rating : 10
Get it. Warm, beautiful, easy - it's worth $250+. I've been playing for 9 years and this is my favorite pedal, next to my Memory Man. I compared this effect to about 5 others ranging in price. This outshined them all - and I am extremo-picky about tone. Do yourself a favor and check it out - it'll blow you away - seriously.

It's very easy to get a good tremolo sound. Three knobs and two switches walk into a bar.....tough crowd. Seems like any setting you dial in you'll get a warm interesting sound.

Sound Quality : 9
I agree with the other guy that wrote in. This pedal gives a boost! not a huge one but noticable. Maybe 'cause this pedal has a tone knob.
I can get fat slow throbs to square wave trills, at least it sounds like that to me.This pedal can give you The Beach Boys tremolo sound, Polvo's warble sound and My bloody valentine's insane echo's.

Reliability : 5
It feels kinda light to me even with the tube in it. I dont jump around a'la rap metal bands nor am i gonna be doing a tour soon. Im sure it'll be fine.

Havent talked to them......YET

This pedal helps out alot with the style of music I do. Noise/melodic/spacey/drone. It responds well with the EH memory man, boss pitchshift/delay pedal, moogerfooger ring mod, rat and companion fuzz.
I would replace it, sure. My favorite feature on it is the emphasis switch, it really flips the sound out. If you get one I hope you have as much fun as I do with it. Later!!

This is the Guyatone Tube Tremolo, aka VTX. Dead easy to get a good sound out of this - just turn it on. There are knobs for speed, intensity and tone as well as slow/fast and normal/emphasis switches. A fair amount to fool with, but in a good way - this box presents possibilities rather than conundrums.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I'm writing this primarily because the previous respondent's review left me scratching my head. He states that this unit actually lowered his signal, while I find that it gives mine a slight boost (I just double-checked about five minutes ago). Maybe he got a defective unit. He also admitted that he wasn't all that enamored of tremolos anyway. It seems like he docked this unit a point because it wasn't a flanger. Oh well...
My own unit has the warmest tremolo sound that I have had the pleasure of playing with, offering throbby pulses or (using the emphasis switch) helicopter beats. The stereo outs enable me to pan the signal between two different amps - a very cool feature and a main reason why I purchased this. The switching is silent.

Reliability : No Opinion
I would and have used this without a backup. It seems reasonablysturdy, although the jacks are plastic and there is (of course) a tube inside - don't drop it on the sidewalk.

A week or two after sending in my warantee card to Godlyke, Inc., I received a folder informing me of other pedal lines that they offer. It seems as though they will be accessible if there are any problems. Can't say for sure...

Overall Rating : No Opinion
This deserves a high rating. It's got the warm vibe that I expected and helps me make music. I have a Voodoo Labs tremolo as well, but this unit has the edge in tone and versatility with the freakiness that only stereo outs can provide. If you like tremolo, this is it.

It is fairly easy to use, but there is just too wide a range of sounds that you can achieve. Actually it's not all taht hard to figure out. 4 knobs and two different switches(slow/fast tremolo and normal/emphasized tremolo) It takes a little playing to get the sound you want.

Sound Quality : 8
Gibson Les Paul Studio----Pro Co Ultra Rat----Real Tube Overdrive----Guyatone/Flip Tremolo----Peavey 158 Rage 40W amp. This pedal greatly reduces my volume(that's why it gets the 8). The effects are really great, but for $170 it had better be. It is a good pedal, just not $170 good.

Reliability : 8
It seems pretty dependable, silent switching, broad range of tremolo sounds. Unfortunately, it will greatly reduce your sound.

Never contacted them

I play really overdriven blues/rock. This pedal sucks because it takes away from your sound. For $170, this pedal is pure crap. Save your money and buy a Dunlop or Boss. If it were stolen, I'd be really pissed off because I intend to send it back to Musician's friend and get an MXR Flanger, I like Flange more than trem. I was dissapointed at how much volume I lost, I wanted to get a trippy quality sound for chorus parts of the songs I write.
