With three knobs,Attack Tone and Volume, I found that I could get a good convincing Bolin sound out of the Fuzz. The owners manual is very short and to the point but there is not a lot to understand.

I used the fuzz with a Strat copy through the effect into My S.F. deluxe reverb and was very pleased with the sound. It just seems to nail the Tommy Bolin sound although I dont have an Echoplex or some of the Hiwatt amps that I understand that He used. I did not find the effect to be noisy at the settings I used. I have Many Fuzz boxes and found this one to be one of the better ones that I own.

The box is made with an imported cast alluminum box and I see no reason to fault the enclosure. If I had to build the effect, I would use the same box for cost concerns. I take very good care of My pedals and dont abuse them. I am sure that some Nut Case could jump on the thing and break something but not a sane person. The one complaint I have is the lack of a battery door. You have to remove 4 screws to replace the Batt. I am sure that the Great paint job will get scuffed up with use. That is what makes old effects have character.

I had problems with two of the knobs. One was missing the screw and another was missing the screw and the metal insert. I Emailed Hartman electronics and the couldnt have backed their product any better. They immediately mailed Me new knobs. I was Very Pleased with their customer support. Try to get that kind of support anywhere else. They get a 10 in My book.

I played some Post Toastie type tunes and was impressed with the box. It just seemed to catch the Bolin sound better than anything else I have and I have many fuzz boxes. I would probably have to replace it with another signature fuzz if lost. I am a real T Bolin fan. I allways heard that the Sam Ash fuzz that he used was a cheap piece of junk and didnt sound very good but I feel that the Hartman unit is a real value.
