Ibanez DE-7

This is a simple delay/echo nothing special about. it has three knobs, delay time, to control the speed of the delay, repeat which controls the ammount of times the delay is played and the volume of the delay. You can get a good echo/delay out of this very easy.

First of all the static people are getting is from not using the effects loop, with the effects loop it gets rid of 95% of the static and theres only a little teeny bit left, i think it gives the pedal abit of a personality through a nice amp. the sound for this pedal clean is very good, nothing really special because there are not alot of features to change tone and such but thats expected from the price.

Haven't had it long enough, people have complained that it gets staticy and fuzzy over time. I'm guessing theyre probably doing something wrong but its quite possible the pedal is baddly made.the switch that turns the pedal on and off is tiny and looks fragile, i'm going to have to be careful with this.

have never dealt with ibanez ever.

This pedal seems nice for the price and a good starter echo/delay, it has one really nice feature and thats the crazy spaced out *feedback*, im sure depending on how you fooled around with the guitar you could get amazingly different tones. if this pedal were just abit cheaper and made just abit better and had the ability to have a direct guitar to amp connection without the effects loop this would be a great pedal, but without it, it satisfies .

Easy to use of course, it's a delay pedal. The only thing that I don't like is that it's hard to know exactly how many ms you have it set to since you can set the delaytime to three positions. Frist position is 30-160. Second position is 120-650 and third position is 480-2600 ms. Then you adjust the actual delay time from "0" to "10" with the knob. So if I have it in the second position (120-650ms) and want 350 ms of delay I would set the knob somewhere around 12 O'Clock. But it's hard to know exactly where 350 ms is if you suck at math like me. So thats the only bad thing about it. Not a big thing though, it's easy to get it to sound good.

Sound quality is very good but what can you expect from a cheap pedal like this. It doesn't sound amazing but it sounds really good!

I don't know about reliability. I never stomp it, I always keep it on. I only switch my FX-loop on and off since delay is the only thing I have there. It works great so far, no problem at all.

I think this pedal sounds better than the BOSS DD-6. I had it and it sounded like crap IMO. Cold and harsh delay. This delay sounds much warmer and better and it's half the price of the BOSS DD-6. It's probably not as reliable as the DD-6 though but who cares you can still get two of these to the price of one DD-6...

I use mine in the loop for solos and sometimes I do some crazy things with it, experiments and it's a really great pedal if you can't afford the expensive ones out there :D

But as I stated earlier, buy this pedal instead of the DD-6. It's better IMHO.

I'll give it a 10 here but only because it says "10 fantastic value". Because Fantastic value is exactly what it is. Worth every Euro.

I love the pedal but the stomp switch acts up and stops working altogether,found myself right in the middle of a gig taking it out of the effects chain,bummer.

Very simple to use when working properly. Difficult to use when acting up.

One of my favorite non-modulation delays... I especialy like the echo feature for darker analog delays.

OK... this is definitely one of the most unreliable & fickle pedals I have ever owned. 1) Switch sucks & will often let you down. 2) There is a connector that connects PCBs together... it will let you down. Not a matter of if, it's when. Pedal will start making static & noise when this gets loose. Pedal will crash, signal cut out, & delay times will suddenly be wrong. Fun, fun, fun. Slamming it on the floor usually brings mine back for a gig or two. Might be possible to hardwire the connectors, haven't tried yet. 3) standard issues with jacks, battery door... everything said is true.

I've owned 4 of these... all four have acted up. I now put them in a true bypass loop. That way the flakey switch is not an issue, & if pedal acts up, I just bypass it to avoid crashing my rig.

Never had one in warranty period. All were 2nd hand. Probably why they all have had issues.

Why put up with it?? It sounds great, it's simple, & priced cheaper than any delay in it's class. Also smaller than most of my favorites like Memory Man or Echoplex. Line 6 stuff sounds toneless in comparison to the DE-7. For now, will try to hardwire it & will confine it to the LOOOPER!!

Not ot hard to figure out if your have any experience with a delay pedal. The manual is pretty good at explaining. UIts even in like 7 languages for all those people from holland that play guitar

Sound quality is great. The echo effect is good for vlean, while delay and a tiny bit a reverb is good for a Steve Vai sound.

The knobs look a little flimsy, but you can push them down so it doesn;t matter.

No dice

This pedal is sweet. O bought it vause i didn;t have a lot of money for boss, and I still like it.

Dead easy. Also pretty flexible, with range selector, mode (delay/echo) selector, and the normal other controls.

Listening and playing with it, the difference between echo and delay seems to be:

Delay: cleaner repeats, stay about as clean til they peter out.
Big point here it took me a while to learn, no matter if you have the repeat and delay level set max, this thing will not self-oscillate...it won't run away from you and get louder and louder until you have to turn it off.

Echo: Sort of like an analog delay..this gives you a darker repeat, with successive ones sounding darker and darker to me. In this mode it IS almost too easy, you have to watch it, to get self-oscillation runaway. With the repeats anywher past 3 o'clock, and the level anywhere past it, this thing goes into oscillation...gets louder and louder with noise.

As mentioned...you would take this as a given maybe, but the controls are predictable. In that I mean, if you find just the right setting for "Red House", and remember where everything was, and put it back there it will sound just as it did. This is what one would expect, but I have experience with other delays (even though I like them a LOT) like the H2O that even if you LEAVE the settings in the same place when you turn it on the next day (after cool down?) it sounds different.

So, once again...the Ibanez is repeatable setting-wise. This is a good thing.

I never heard ANY static on mine, and I've had mine for a few years already. The guy below, Ben, obviously is having a problem with his. But if he "never wastes his time" on support...

I haven't owned all that many delay pedals, so I am no expert on what is possible. I think this is a solid pedal. Sound is from good to sometimes excellent. I have played this thing where I must have just set it just right, a few times where it was heavenly. Mostly though I go between this one and my Visual Sound H2O. I don't have a favorite yet.

The sound is good. It doesn't seem to be sucking tone when off, and it sounds a LOT better if you use the stereo out to two amps.

Have used mine a lot actually for a couple years now. Would play without a backup because delay is not integral to my sound. I can get by just fine without it, but it is fun to play with.

No issues for me. The switch is still going strong. ONLY point is...I use a power supply, and it seems that even then, if the battery inside dies completley, it won't turn on. At least I had it happen maybe twice, changed the battery and it worked fine.

Haven't needed them. Don't know.

This is a good delay. I played around for a few hours with a Digitech Digidelay and I think I am going to pick one up. It had more sounds, and sounded to me at least as good, maybe better.

That said, this is a SOLID sounding little delay/echo unit. I don't have a "sound in my head" predetermined idea of what I want in an echo...some days I like the delay side, some days (and setups) like the echo side. Has a good range of delay times. Sounds nice.

I doubt this is the cream of the crop, but some days I have this on my pedal board, some days I use my H2O.

I'm not blown away by this pedal, it is a solid pedal I depend on when I want delay.

never needed it..

Play classic and heavy rock and like to use this pedal in line with a CE-5 chorus. Been playing about 45 years and have all kinds of gears, too much to mention here. I like the echo feature and set it just for a very short echo to give a room filling sound. Like any digital delay, it eats batteries so get a power supply for it.
I like it, once its set I leave it there and the depressing knobs help keep it at the right setting in case some drunk comes to the front of the stage and wants to screw around with things. I would just add its a good delay for the money.

While it works, it doesn't get any simpler than this.

The pedal sounds great. The only minor flaw is the unbearable static that seems to develop after a few months which totally covers any sound your guitar makes.

I bought this before my gigging days, and I never got the chance to use it on stage. The static is unbearable and it's not worth the frustration. I never had a problem with the switch, although I did buy a DS7 Ibanez distortion pedal around the same time which does have a shitty switch.

Never wasted my time on it.

no noisel. clean sounds great. can adjust delay volume. Stereo output for ping pong effect. Delay and echo, echo has a decay value to it. If you put it on echo and jack up the repeate rate you get the infinite analog "feedback".

The only problem i have with it is it eats alot of battery, even when delay not active. I'm planning on making a powersupply for it and all my pedals. Good Stuff.

Pretty easy to use. Lots of options for such a small delay pedal.

Sound quality is pretty good, also the vintage delay simulation. Also nice that it can handle up to 2.6 seconds of delay.

And this is were the big disadavantage of the pedal lies, in its reliability. The switch stopped working properly after a few days and I really handled the pedal carefully (besides that, all of my other pedals from boss and electro-harmonix never broke down). Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. When you look at the switch inside, it's not really surprising that it broke down. It looks really crappy and small (nothing compared to the switches used in boss pedals for instance).

Nice sounding pedal with lots of option, but what use is that when it doesn't work properly? I never use it at gigs or rehearsals anymore.

Easiest thing to use than the other digital pedals - Danelectro/Boss

As soon as I played it, I could sense the Brighton Rock solos oozing out. I want a second one though, so I can rig up 3 amps - a central amp for the clean sound, and 2 either side of the stage with their own delayed sound.

Jim Reed Red Special/Fender Stratocaster -> Home made Treble Booster ->Ibanez DL7 ->Peavey Rage 158 (its basic, don't laugh. I'm wanting to get hold of a nice Big Marshall - not an AC30!!! AC30 is going too far into the Brian May tone, I jsut happen to like the guitar, and agree with him that a treble booster does stop the sound from going wooly)

I found a little humm, but that's probably just my guitar since it needs cleaning, or my cables - I trust this pedal.

Built like a brick, almost to the extent someone could build a house out of them... If they want to spend #89 per brick!

Something about a bad switch? I find no bad switch. Perhaps if people didn't stamp on the thing from an angle. A little stage courtesy towards your pedals goes a long way.

Perfect, just a lil fiddly to set the delay time perfectly (would be better to have a tap button option as well as the dial)... But I still want 2 for my 3-part guitar cannon

This pedal actually gives my tone MORE definition and clarity.
Better than the Digitech 1002 digital delay, although I still like that pedal as well...Gotta give it thumbs up for that!

I re-ea-ea-eally have to recommend this one as an alternative to high end delays...I am happy with it, and you will too, until you start to do the clean thing with analog delays....This handles the dirt just fine! Thumbs up for this one!

It is clear to me what each of the knobs on the pedal do. I wasn't at all confused about the switches or knobs.

It's kind of interesting how this pedal sounds. I was hoping that the delay setting would produce repeats without a fadeout, but that is not the case. There is a bit of a fade out in the delay mode. The echo mode is pretty interesting. When all knobs are turned up all the way, it's just a matter of time till you're making alot of noisy noise.
Something interesting, though: The delays/echos stop dead in their tracks when the effect is disengaged. Not like boss or danelectro, where you disengage the pedal and then the delays fade out. This makes what I think of "sound on sound" delay work pretty much impossible. There are certainly advantages to this aspect of the peday, but make sure that you understand this about it.
Also, you can make cool stuttering effects by engaging and disengaging the pedal while you play. This will put little voids into the delay stream. Wierd.
I use it to feed sticcato notes from my Schecter TSH1 into another delay pedal, which runs into a slicer for a kind of rythmic tapping effect. Also, this produces a great slapback in echo mode. I had been using a Dano "shower room" pedal, but this is a bit more to my liking.

There is a pretty bad design flaw in that the actual switch is really close to the hinge of the footswitch. This places a bit more of a diagonal push on the button, rather than a direct down push. This is why alot of people are complaining about the switch. If you push the pedal switch down by stepping on the upper portion of the pad, you will achieve more consistant results. I did, anyway.
Still, the best soultion would be to redesign the pedal. Otherwise, perhaps not the best gigging effect pedal.

As mentioned above, this is a pretty singular pedal, which has some features that others deemed wierd or wrong. This means it is its own animal, and is capable of being successfully implemented into someones sound, if you are aware of its nature.

Pretty easy to make some cool sounds, especially on the "echo" mode.

I almost always keep it in echo mode, and I use all three of the time intervals, from slapback to slow repeats. Plus, you can mess with the time knob to make some crazy tape-echo sounds. I've had plenty of people be impressed with the "vintage" Space Echo sounds that can come out of this box. I've had this for over two years, and I'm still having fun with it. The "delay" setting is not real useful, just a mediocre delay setting. Not very noisy, but not the most transparent pedal, either.

I use this pedal at the end of my chain, which includes an MXR DynaComp>Russian Big Muff>Danelectro Daddy-O>TS-7 Tubescreamer>Dunlop Univibe>Deluxe Electric Mistress>DE-7>'59 Fender Bassman RI. I play a MIJ Fender Strat. I have no reverb from my amp, and I prefer using the DE-7 to the $130 Boss RV-5 I bought and rarely used.

The battery button busted somehow, so I have to use an adapter, which sucks. It is probably possible to fix it, but it isn't a big enough deal to me. However, I would gig, and have gigged, without a backup.

I bought this originally because I thought it would be a creative tool, something to help me make music. I was correct, and this is still one of my favorite pedals, even though I don't always have it on. I have even used this thing to put slapback echo on vocals, and it still sounds cool. For the money, and you can get these cheap on ebay now, I would highly recommend this for vintage tape echo noises. It is sort of like just buying the echo part of a Deluxe Memory Man. I play classic rock and blues/folk rock kind of stuff, and I don't know if the DE-7 fits with those styles, but its a lot of fun to mess with. I would definitely recommend it over the Dan-Echo. It's not perfect, but for the money you can't deny the bang for the buck. A very musical effects pedal.

Using this pedal is blood simple. Of course it's not as nice as having a number of preset patches with custom delays, but it is a stompbox, after all.

Dean Avalanche--DE7--Fender Blues Deluxe. This pedal has excellent sound in delay and echo modes. It's noiseless and the delay is incredibly smooth and dreamy and long delays with infinite repeat can yield great sound-on-sound ambient collages, if you're into that. The analog echo can be dangerous with about 7+ repeats, as it feedsback louder and louder. Using this with the volume control and while twiddling the delay time knob can yield great sounds a la the end of Radiohead's 'Karma Police.'
I've used it with a Korg Pandora phaser and amp distortion on a Fender Champion 30 to get a nice glassy texture. Just great for ambient doodling.
I play post-punk (Joy Division/New Order, early U2) among other things. Since I don't have a Vox AC30, I can't really create the kind of sounds I want anyway, but this peddle would be sufficient to get some "Where The Streets Have No Name" kind of repeats.

3. It seems sturdy enough, and when it's on, it's very reliable. However, the switch broke very early on, making it very difficult to turn on while playing (although it switches off easily enough). I would like to try a Boss pedal for another delay, although my Digitech RP100 has a nice range of reverbs and delays, and reverb and delays can be used simultaneously. For about $100 it's worth checking out, if only for the reverbs and delays.

I've never tried to contanct Ibanez.

5. This is, again, a nice pedal for people who like ambience, be it Unforgettable Fire-era U2, the Church, Pink Floyd, or electronic stuff Underworld and Roni Size/Reprazent. Coupled with another delay pedal (delay on delay) and you can get some beautifully ethereal, glowing, keyboard-like swells. If only the switches weren't crap.

the switch is shit. if i could give it a zero, i would. the pedal is very solidly built (i had to take it apart), but that ABSOLUTE CRAP switch just pisses me off.

the sound is fantastic, but if it doesn't work, then what's the point. i give it a 10 for sound quality for this price and for being digital, but if you roll the switch in there, its crap.

Turn knobs till you like what you hear.

Of course, it's only $80 and doesn't have echoplex stamped all over it, but hey, it's not half bad. For being cheap, it doesn't sound cheap = good. I had the same problem as the guy a review or two below with the BBZZZZZZKKKKWWWKSDKFLDASJKL; stuff, and you know what I did? I changed the cable going to the pedal and guess what happened after that! NO MORE BDDSDFLDJ:SFJDKLS crap!

I'd depend on it. If it's making weird noise when you step on and off the pedal, check your cables first. If it's still doing it then check the battery (AC adaptor), and if it's still doing it, check your pickups on your guitar...and finally, if everything else is fine and you're still hearing the BKLDFKLEJICD:SAL then you've just bought yourself one expensive paper weight.
I've had mine for over a year with no real problems.

Damn decent for $80. I play Fender J's and P's through it into an Ibanez CF-7 into a Mesa Bass 400+ to a 4x10 and a 1x15 and they all sound great. Sure, buy yourself the most expensive delay/echo on the market and you'll sound better, but is it worth the extra $400? Probably not. I just didn't think the echoplex sounded $400 better to me.

It's easy. Play a little and you'll know the trick. Volume/repeat interact with each other nicely.

Well, i thought it was noisey, but it was the Ac adapter. When i used it with batteries it was a silent unit. I never tried it with a Good adapter, but dont worry about noise.
Now... serious talking, dudes:
-Delay mode: Well, i never tried a lot of delay pedals, but it's a delay with clear digital type of sound. Not sterile, but think of it as being Clear. Personal taste rating : 6

-Echo: I know this is not an analog unit, but... let me tell you : I LOVE THIS SOUND!!! the repeats become warmer and a lot more softer than the digital mode. I heard some demos of analog pedals, and if they sound better, i didn't notice it. Well, they probably do, but i think this unit ends the race very close. I think this change is only a cut in th top frequencies, but... that's a LOT of difference.

Note: when i try more pedals, i'll give 9's and a 10 for my best sounding one. I dont throw away 10's like many in here.

I depend on it. My heart and hear does. eheh... altough many in hre say it's not reliable, i believe in them, because the first units WERE NOT REALIABLE. Then... the switch cavity changed (i saw some), and no problem at all!!

i'm gonna be brief:
This is an awesome delay pedal in the ECHO MODE. If you dont have a lot of money or you need some extra DELAY TIME in your analog pedal, get one of this because it comes very close and has extra memory.
Because of it's price, sound, price ... i'll give it an 8.
Now they're cheaper.

fairly easy...i'd also like to point out that the little clickbutton to enter the batter compartment is one of the TWO good ideas engineered into this pedal. The other one, of course, is the retractable knobs so you don't actually get your settings accidentally moved by a misstep. good ideas unfortunately marred by a poorly performing electronics section.

sound quality is great for the price range of this unit, but when put up against other analog/digital hybrids that cost a few bucks more, unfortunately falls short.
I have seven pedals chained in my setup, and this one is the weak tone link in the chain.
stereo jacks, so that's a plus, and the effect gives a nice chorus-y delay return, that makes me happy. I play spacey heavy rock just to the side of smashing pumpkins and my bloody valentine, and this effect makes some nice anomalies in the signal path that i appreciate.

this pedal has let me down in the studio, and live as well.
the electronics inside are low grade, and it shows. when i think of mid-range quality effects, it's just obvious that BOSS sets the standard. a fair price for a pedal that has good sounds (not fantastic, but good) and last FOREVER. i've had BOSS pedals fall out the back of speeding trucks and hit the pavement tumbling, and the things REFUSE TO DIE. that's the shit.
THIS PEDAL...well..it does this...schizo thing. i'll turn it on and leave it, and things will be going good, then turn it off for some portion of a song, and then barely tap the switch - and BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZKKKKRKRKRKRKKRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRKRKRKACKLE!!!
...uhhh...what the hell. and i'll step on it again. BBBBZZZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAPPPPP!!! and again BZZZZZZZZZZZRAAAAOOOPPPP!! and again...BBBBZZT! and again...until it stops.
since i have another delay behind that one, the noise goes twice as long, ruins any song or atmosphere you're trying to lay down, and you start over from scratch.
so screw it..ibanez loses these days..this company has gone from making the best distortion pedal on the planet, to some cool guitars that last but are cheap, to shitty multieffect boards, to these pieces of crap. i now consider Ibanez a company not worth your time.
and i'm not a purist by any means. i love effects that are cheap but have special "mojo" qualities that can enhance individual personality in your sound, but unreliability is the cardinal sin, in my book. So i say, "get your shit together, ibanez."

This is a pedal that has some good qualities, but really isn't worth your time, since there are a few other similarly priced units that do the same as this one that are more reliable.

Pretty easy to use. If you've been around pedals for any amount of time use should be able to figure it out. Might as well just screw with it to figure it out cause the instructions are so basic I don't know why they bothered to include them.

I've never had problems with the sound, but I just bought it and the way things are going with it, nothing would surprise me.

This is the entire reason I wrote this. I can't get the thing to stay on longer than a few minutes. Once it goes out, I have to wait about an hour before it will turn back on. Also, after so many times turning it on and off, it refuses to turn back on. A friend has this exact same pedal and he also had this problem, and I've read numerous reports of this on this page.

My friend sent his in to Ibanez and as far as I know, he got it back about a month later and it works. I'm not 100% on that since I don't know if he used it more than once since then. I will eventually try to do the same thing

My advice is to try to steer clear of this pedal. It doesn't seem like Ibanez has a very high standard of quality when it comes to pedals. I went to their website to see if they had posted any information on this problem that me and everyone else seems to be having and I was blown away at the complete lack of useful information. I'm embarrassed that I actually gave my money to this company.

Piece of cake...

i use a fender american series strat into a boss ds-1 distortion into a boss ch-1 chorus into the DE-7 delay into my roland jc 55 amp. Sounds great distorted, with chorus, clean, or with both distortion and chorus. I can get the pod sound, even with my strat and my boss ds-1. every once and a while i use an ibanez smashbox, which helps me get the P.O.D. sound better. The only reason i give this pedal a 9 is because there's a hum when i use my adaptor, and i don't want to buy an ibanez adaptor.

i give it a 9 because of the hum. if it were stolen i'd buy it again, because its a great pedal. Great sound also.

Ease of Use: Simple, once you get the pedal to turn on.

Sounds pretty good. Affects the tone a little bit but that is mainly a reverb type effect. Personally, I like the tone of my guitar with the pedal switched on. This is my setup:
Alvarez Strat Copy->Seiko Tuner-->DE7-->TS5 Tube Screamer-->Crate POS 60 Watt Amp.
The only problem I see with this pedal is the Echo setting's problem with increasing noise as the echoed sound feeds on itself. IF you set the echo for a large number of repeats be prepared to control the level as it gets noisier..either use the pedal level or your amp.

It is reliable insofar as you don't proceed to bang it around. The casing itself is made of a pretty sturdy plastic and the knobs don't tend to spring back up but...1. the switch on the inside is made of pretty cheap plastic...kinda like the plastic used on Swiss Army Knife toothpicks. 2. the springs are not mounted very well and can come off their posts easily. 3. the pedal will hiccup after overuse..i mean..it won't activate w/o multiple attempts to switch it on.

Never used 'em. The website is badly put together...no real information on ANY of their products. It couldn't hurt for Ibanez to put more content on their tech support page but don't hold your breath.

Delay fits my style but I'm beginning to think that Ibanez delay does not. I have played with the Boss delay units and have been much happier with those. If this pedal is stolen, no, I won't replace it. I will however get something else. I wish the pedal had been designed with a little more thought put into the sturdiness of even the smallest parts of the pedal. But, until it is stolen, lost or falls apart or I toss it out a window, I will use because it does help in my writing.

Pretty basic for a delay. Three knobs for delay time, repeat, and level; a 3-way switch for delay range (up to 2.6 seconds). The Echo option is nice to have. The manual is useless and has a few examples of delay settings, none of which I have ever used since trying them for the first time.

I use a standard Strat plugged into a Fender 85. My effects include a Big Muff Pi, Boss chorus, Danelectro flanger, and the DE7. It is noisy, but it can also be quiet on certain settings. It is much noisier on Echo mode. I thought the noise might be caused by the single coils on my Strat, but even when used with a Les Paul w/ humbuckers the noise was still there. For reference, it is much more noisy than the Boss DD-3. If you have the extra cash, go for the
DD-3! You'll lose the Echo option, but you'll be getting a much better delay. You can get a good U2 'Edge' sound with Echo mode, but if you don't play any U2 (i certainly don't) then that doesn't help you much. The DE7 is exponentially worse when used with delay. I just couldnt get the right sound out of it and tried to take it back, but apprarently there wasn't anything wrong with the unit so it wasn't returnable. Oh, but there's more....read on...

Apparently the DE7 includes a surprise extra effect at no extra cost - it's also a distortion pedal!!! This transformation occurs within a few months after purchase, and requires no abuse of the unit whatsoever! I was pleasantly surprised at this newfound fuzz tone! Too bad the delay effect is now gone, and the switch does nothing! In other words - this pedal is a piece of junk and will break before you can say BOSS DD-3!

Never dealt with Ibanez directly

I invite someone - ANYONE - to steal this piece of crap from me (assuming they give me 150 bucks in return). I don't know if my pedal was on its own in terms of poor quality, but I have read some reviews concerning problems with the switch. A friend of mine has also had multiple problems with other effects in the Ibanez ToneLock series. Look elsewhere, that is unless you enjoy throwing away money.

Simple to use. Three knobs: Delay Time, Repeat, and Delay Level. Also there are two switches: Range (30-160, 120-650, 480-2600 ms)and Mode (Echo or Delay). Having some experience working with delays is helpful for dialing in a good sound quickly. If you know the sound you're looking for, it's all here!

I mainly play a 2001 American Series Fender Strat through a ZOOM Driver 5000, a Dano Fish & Chips EQ, a Dano Cool Cat, and Ibanez DE-7 delay --> into a Fender Hot Rod DeVille 4x10. I have previously owned a Boss DD-3, which was OK, but the DE-7 is way better. I bought it mainly for the Echo mode and I keep it around 140-160 ms with 4 repeats, and the delay level set low. If you crank the delay level up it can start to get a little noisy, but at lower levels (for subtle repeats) it is almost totally quiet.

Delay mode works great too if I need some hard repeats, but generally I go for the Lo Fi echo which I find warmer and more musical. For the money, this is definitely the best echo/delay pedal out there. I was also considering the Dan Echo pedal, but the salesman I was dealing with steered me towards this and I am very glad he did. I definitely rate this pedal a 10 for sound quality and value.

As a bonus, the locking knobs are a fantastic invention. Also, make sure you get an AC adapter (I recommend the Danelectro Zero Hum adapter), since this will eat batteries quickly.

Seems very sturdy with its metal casing. Some others have commented on faulty on/off switching, but I have had no problems with mine. I don't abuse my gear, so I'm not expecting any problems. Works great!

I've been playing guitar for about 20 years and have played through a lot of gear (both mine and my friends'). Yeah, if you want to spend hundreds of dollars you could find a boutique pedal that is better - but I prefer to put my money towards upgrading my guitars and amps.

For a delay pedal, you won't go wrong by buying this!

I never owned a delay pedal before this one,and never really knew what i was doing when it tried them out at guitar shops.I got this pedal because it looked like the total package,easy to use(3 knobs),affordable,well built,and great sound.I was a little reluctant to buy it but now,im so fucking glad i got it!The manual wasnt very hlepful(only 2 settings of the 4 were good),but it helped a little.Twenty minutes later,i was sounding likeColin Greenwood(Radiohead).Easy to get a good sound out of.

Beutifull sound,distroyed the Boss pedal in every catagory.You can get crisp digital Delay or old school warm Echo(i prefer Delay,simply because im used to hearing it from my favorite bands.)You can get some cool effects with this pedal,such as the aformentioned endless feedback with the echo setting,also try moving the speed dial while the feed back is going on,gives it a insane "distorted radio" sound.I use a Ibanez Rg120 to a Ibanez SM7 smash box-Dunlop crybaby-Danelectro hashbrowns flanger-DE7 delay/echo into a shitty crate 15 watt amp.I like everything from Depeche mode to Morbid angel,but my favorite band is Rage against the machine and this pedal is ESSENTIAL if you hope to get Tom morello like sounds.It worked perfectly when i played the solo to"Freedom"(by Rage)on it,I also faithfully recreated the riff from "Sweet child of mine" by Guns n Roses.Works great with Distortion,pretty good with flanger(not distorted,with the speed on max)Also works great to give you guitar a nice reverb sound to it,it amzed people when i went to school and used it to play the star spangled banner.The only time it ever sounds noisy is when you have alot of repeats on it and the delay is short,i usally dont turn the repeat knob over 12 o clock.Overall,great sound,best damn Delay pedal on the market today(thats right,fuck boss!You think ill pay 100 dollars for a stupid tuner?)in my opinion.

Hell yeah i can depend ont it!These Ibanez tone-lok pedals are built like tanks!They are created to be stomped on and built to last longer than US imperialism.The only thing i wish is that they came in different colors because all of em look the same!What happens if your on stage and you accidently stomp on your tone-lok Flanger/Chorus(which i thought wasnt very good) when you wanna do your beautiful solo?I guess Ibanez made them all in basicly the same casings so that they could keep costs down(wise idea).I wouldnt keep a backup because i can depend on it no matter what,well,until the bettery runs out(which it dreains pretty fast,if you use a cheap one).

I play hard rock,from punk(such as Black flage and the Dead kennedys) to Slayer to Rage against the machine.Ive been playing for over a year and this has helped me think of new musical ideas,i wrote a solo using it the first day!If it were stolen,id definately go for the same one again and if i found the little fuck who stole it I would make him choke on his own balls for defiling my precious pedal with his greasy hands!Compared it to Boss delay and Danelectro PB&J delay.Danelectro was cool,id reccomend it if you were on a budget and needed a decent delay pedal,but the Boss pedal was ridiculously overpriced and much more complicated,it also didnt sound as good in my opinion.
