Stock unit, never been modded. Very easy to get a variety of delay sounds out of. Three nobs, 2 switches. The manual is informative, but just use your head and get used to the parameters.

Tone-lok option is always a plus, but I never find myself using it.

Ibanez really nailed the whole ergomical design for a pedal with the Tone-Lok series. I have pretty big hands, but I have no trouble adjusting settings. Especially on the fly, during performance.

I have used this pedal... for sooo much stuff. Its pretty ridiculous.

Its currently in my pedal board. I keep it simple:

My Strat to:

Ibanez DE-7
Digitech Bad Monkey
Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster (sick clean boost, if you're interested)

to: Fender Hot Rod Deville (60 watts, 4 10's)

I like to keep as much noise and tone sucking out of my rig as possible. Usually go for stuff with true bypass circuits, but there are a couple of pedals out there that do well without them. This is one of them. Especially for signal chain freaks like myself.

Really great stuff. Nice shimmery analog delay. Really blows other digital delays out of the water. Huge, lengthy array of timed delay and echo to choose from.

This pedal really kicks it out with the level sitting behind you around 1-3. Gives a nice shimmery feel to rakes and circular grooves.

Its extremely useful for improvisation and experimental stuff. The ability of infinite repeats is also definitely a plus. Really entertaining and manipulatable during performance.

I don't use batteries. However, they do eat them. I would strongly suggest using an adaptor or buying a multi port one. No noise at all from adaptors.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have been using this pedal for 6 years.

Gig all the time without a backup.

People complain about the housing of these pedals and I can't understand why. I've had a PH-7 as well and never had a problem. I think in a lot of respects they're a little more durable than others.

I could imagine the switch breaking, but you'd have to be jumping on this thing. And pretty hard. I certainly don't treat this pedal like a gem, other than it being attached to a homemade suitcase that I use as a pedal board.

Basically, don't throw this thing at a wall 50 times and I think you'll be fine. But even then, if you did I still think it would be alright.

Never had to deal with them. In general, if you can get 5+ years from a pedal I'd say you got your money's worth.

They used to cost a lot new but came down in price recently. You can get them on ebay for around 30-50 bucks now a days and I'd say its certainly a worthy purchase. Its hard to find a good solid pedal these days that

A: Doesn't kill your tone by being apart of your signal chain.
and
B: Does what its supposed to.

For the money, go for it.

If you want to hear this puppy in action, I have a bunch of stripped together clips from an improvisational session I did with my drummer. Go here >> Somae

If it were lost, I would go buy one immediately.

Very musical, low price, sturdy. Nuff said.

This pedal has a vast array of differnet delay sounds. I got it used froma buddy of mine, so I never had a manual for it.

Sound Quality : 8
At the time that it worked, I was using minimal equipment, seeing as how I was young and still learning. The "stuff" I was using was a Fender P-Bass (1974)-->Vox Wah 847-->Ibanez DL-7-->Crate BX-15. Never had any problems with tone quality at all. Of course, with such a small practice amp, how can ya hear anything?

Reliability : 3
This pedal was great, until the foot-switch broke. Now the damned thing won't ever come on. I'm sure it still works fine, but the little button under the foot switch itself pretty much broke. Everything else on the unit itself seemed to be pretty sturdy.

I play Classic Rock, Hard Rock, Metal, Funk, pretty much anything that has a great groove or cool walking bass line. I wouldn't mind replacing it, but having fun with some of the newer equipment I have acquired since then (it was like 8 years ago that it broke). It actually helped me make up some kick ass bass-lines/riffs that sounded great, not spacelike.

piece of cake

Sound Quality : 9
sounds great any way i play it: clean, distorted, with chorus, or all three combined. I hava an american made strat into a boss ds-1 distortion into a boss ch-1 chorus into the delay, into my roland jc 55 amp. Sounds great, but don't use an adaptor, because you get a sound unless the adapter is made by Ibanez. that's why i give it a 9

Reliability : 8
almost as good as a boss...almost

very easy to use.

good sound quality when played with a clear guitar tone. it doesnt sound as good when i am playing with distortion. when distorted, the delayed "note" has a buzzier sound the the original "note".

Reliability : 8
the body is strong but light metal. the knobs dont seem to be of superior quality however. the "tone loc" feature allows you to push the knobs down so they are flush with the body. big deal! how often do you have a problem with your fx pedals knobs being hit or shifted. well, maybe when you drag a cable across them while jamming on stage. still, big deal.
