IT'S A NO BRAINER. THE BASIC SETTINGS ARE ON THE TOP OF THE UNIT. AND THE GUY WHO KEEPS LOSING THE SETTINGS WHEN HE TURNS IT OFF, YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE INTERNAL BATTERY. IT HAS TO BE AT LEAST 30 YEARS OLD. EVERYTHING THAT HAS STORABLE PROGRAMS HAS SOME SORT OF BATTERY UNIT. THE NEWER ONES HAVE A BETTERY SIMILAR TO THOSE YOU WOULD FIND IN A WATCH. MINE HOLDS A CHARGE FINE NOW.

Sound Quality : 10
FOR A UNIT MADE IN THE MID 80'S THIS IS FAR BEYOND IT'S TIME. i LIKE IT BECAUSE IT IS SIMPLE AND I GET THE SOUNDS I WANT/NEED OUT OF IT. I'VE BEEN PLAYING FOR 30 YEARS AND GIGING FOR MOST OF THEM AND IT IS JUST A GREAT UNIT. NO NOISE AND IT IS BUILT LIKE A TANK.

Reliability : 10
I'VE BEEN USING IT FOR GIGS FOR 20 YEARS WITHOUT A BACKUP. ARE YOU KIDING ME?

Customer Support : No Opinion
NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ANYTHING I OWN THAT IS IBANEZ. SO I REALLY CAN'T COMMENT ON THAT NOW CAN I?

Straight forward controls. Perfect.
Also like the feature of the Feedback Loop, where you can loop in effects (e.g. a chorus unit) to colour just the delay (wet) sound but not the main (dry) guitar sound.
3 outputs (Dry, Mix, Inverted Mix) - for some reasons I never tried what the Inverted Mix Output does.
9/10 points only because you cannot store the delay settings. As soon as the delay is switched off the last delay setting is lost.
But that isn't a big minus for me, since dialling the delay settings (in milliseconds) is super easy and quick.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a variety of delay units rack (Roland SDE2000) and stompboxes (Boss DD-3) and I must say the DM2000 is up there with them.
Noise is practically not existent, the delays are warm and don't have the cold digital sound of newer units. Very musical.
The modulation is okay - nothing to get freaked out about but great for more weird sounds in extreme settings.
All in all the sound is faultless. Classic!

Reliability : 10
Reliability = 100%. I own this unit for over 8 years and never had the slightest problem with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed customer support so I can't really comment on that.

I play a style soewhere between early U2/Echo & The Bunnymen, early Suede - think New Wave, Post-Punk, hence I rely on good Delay Units :)
My main guitars are a Fender Stratocaster and Bigsby-ed Epiphone Riviera semi-acoustic through my stompbox arsenal, including my main FX's MXR DynaComp, Boss SD-1, Boss DS-1, Electro Harmonix Big Muff, Electro Harmonix Electric Mistress Flanger and TC Phaser into a Vox AC-30 Top Boost and Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus Amplifier or for recordings straight into a Behringer V-Amp.
No question, if the DM2000 breaks or gets stolen I;'d be on the lookout for another one. I love it!
I also use the Roland SDE2000 Rackmount Delay, which has more features (e.g. storable delay settings) and an even a slightly better sound and a more versatile modulation. Still I always want to have a DM2000 close to me.

Very simple to use. Non programmable, so you knid of have to remember how you set it up, but that isn't really a problem. I managed to get a copy of the manual from Ibanez, but there wasn't anything in there that you can't figure out for yourself.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this with a Strat, Acoustic (Takamine) and 335 (copy), along with a Fender Deluxe. The sounds from this thing are incredible: the chorus type effect, flanging, phasing is great from the low delay settings (although the phasing doesn't measure up to my EHX Small Stone but that's another story...). The delays are superb too, perfect for country, rock, everything basically. Also, the fact that it has 3 outputs, a phase inversion, hold functions AND infitinte feedback (try playing "On your own" by Blur without it...), make it excellent.

Reliability : 8
If it went wrong I'd be screwed. It seems pretty reliable though, and hasn't made any odd noises yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No support as such, but I was able to get a copy of the maunual from Ibanez UK.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 14years, and this box is great. I own a few other fx and stuff, but this box is definately here for the long run. All I need now is a 19" case to gig it in....

Its a pretty easy unit to use, unless your retarded that is..Seriously, very easy rack unit system here. Everything was was changed to up and down switches from the DM 1000. I don't have a manual, but there are sample settings on the top of the unit for suggestions on delay, and other time based effects. This unit is long discontinued. This comes with a footswitch, but I didn't get one with mine. They control the modulation and hold function for looping (very fun thing to use)

Sound Quality : 10
Its very rig friendly.. I use it with 2 amps. An 83' Fender Concert II, and a 66' Fender Bandmaster. No problems with it. It's on my bandmaster's channel.

I also use a

--Before ABy switch.
Volume pedal
Boss OD3
Ibanez CP9 (9 series compressor)

Channel A (Fender Concert II)
Digitech Whammy II

Channel B (Fender Bandmaster)
Ibanez DM 2000

I use just one guitar anymore, my prize G&L Tele ASAT classic. It works great with both amps, and doesn't act up with other pedals either. I really didn't get this to sound like anybody, it does a great delay and thats why I got it. You have to hear it...the delay and sound produced from this unit are very grainy and dark. It goes from the smallest amount of delay (chorus, flanging, reverb) to 1023 ms of delay. Which is plenty for me. If you need more you can use the feedback switch, as it increases the # of repeats. I use it for crazy solo leads, and dry plate verb sounds. Also, if you use the hold function, and then modulate the sound it can really do some crazy sounding loops, all detuned and rise/fall sounds!~! Awesome stuff man!~ It's the best and most versatile delay I have ever used~!! I'm sure not everyone will agree with me, but you should give this baby a try.

Reliability : 8
Hmm..well I do gig with it, I hope it doesn't brake down. I don't think I can find another one. But it has worked great so far. No backup..:(

Never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 7 years now. My band and I play originals, but we also do some covers. We play everything from rock/jazz/funk/rave/folk. It does all these style well, and even inspires me to experiment with fusing them. I tell ya, if it were lost or stolen I would def. find another one. Its really a must have for anyone who uses these kind of effects. If you can't find one of though, I would check out the Boss DD' series delay pedals. They all sound great, and can do most, and I say most of what this can. The Maxon analog reissue was good too, but I didn't really find enough versatility with it. This has the same sounds if need be, and can do so much more. Thats why i chose this one over the others. I really think this is one of the best things Ibanez did, next to the Ibanez Cp9 (and all 9 series pedals) which is a great compressor. I don't know why they stopped making these, as they sound great. Try one, you'll be happy you did!~

Ease of Use : 9
This rack-mount delay is extremly easy to use, but due to it's age, it is somewhat outdated.

Sound Quality : 9
This unit has an LED readout in milliseconds from 1to 1023 milliseconds, so chorus, flanger, slapback, hard reverb, most anything time based effect can be accomplished.

Reliability : 10
I depend on it heavily since I don't have the cash to buy a back-up, but nothing except the Boss DD-5 compares to its specs.

Customer Support : No Opinion
This unit is a little too old for warranty by about 13 years.

Overall Rating : 10
This effect is vital to an extremly eerie sound and perfect for multi-time based effects.
