Ease of Use : 10
Three Sliders, one Knob to adjust Mid 'Q'. Painless to use.

Sound Quality : 9
Really great. Very useful as an overdrive itself. Or, as I use it, to 'goose' a range of frequencies post-overdrive box (Metal Screamer, which is really a Tube Screamer TS-9 with very slight gain increase; some chip and filtering, even.)When using it post overdrive box(Tubescreamer, whatever)you will have to balance the tone controls between the two. My fave: Leave tone on Tube Screamer low and boost Upper Mids and Treble with PQL. Turn PQL on and off for Crunch Rhythm and Lead settings. Very cool. Oh, and pretty quiet.

Reliability : 7
As with old TS's, momentary switch needs replacing. Intermittent. But heck it's 10-15 years old and looks like it's been used well. Still functional and quiet. And this is an EQ with three filters in it!!

Really Useful. Hard to find, but worth it. Need to replace switch, but that's a $4 part.
I use a PRS Custom 24, Ibanez '70s Destroyer and a Tele with Mini-humbuckers through a JCM900 50wt, Metal Screamer, 4x12s one with G12K-85s and another with E-V SROs if I need to. Good addition to aPedal Board.

Ease of Use : 8
Piece of cake, but I have a mess of Ibanez pedals. This unit has three sliders, and two knobs, so in all reality it's still not difficult.

Sound Quality : 8
Once again, this is in the effects loop of my `82 Fender Concert. Like most Ibanez pedals, noise level is negligible. Overall sound quality is very good. This is a great pedal to tweak the sound of your amp, or to generate a psecific boost for rhythm/solo parts.

Reliability : 9
The "L" series is entirely metal with the exception of the little rubber pad on the stomp switch and also the non-skid backing. One of the best built series of pedals that Ibanez put out, simply put.

Haven't called Hoshino on this one.

I like this one better than it's predecessor, the PQ-9. The PQL has a Q-width knob in addition to the three sliders with the mid-frequncy adjustment knob (ranging from 70Hz to 5.5KHz). A great little unit that can have a big effect on your tone, especially if the amp it's being run into has an effects loop.
