Gave it a 9 just because they are trying to stick to ALL original and not adjusting for whats real. It would have been nice that the only thing they would have changed is the power supply connection. But oh well... All else real easy.

Sounds exactly like the original. Some people say it really depends on the chip and all the chips sound just a little different. These people are wack jobs as anyone in electronics knows that these are made in factories by machines, NOT BY HAND. They are all exactly the same, stamped out of the same design. The reissue IS the original.... unless you just want to spend more on an older pedal. Gets a 10 cause it sounds like it should...GREAT.

Great sounds (not heavy or crystal clear) just vintage tube sounds. If you can imagine a tube amp like a twin reverb that is being played hard, that is what this pedal sounds like. Flat, crunchy, smooth and nice!

I'm generally very wary with most product reviews in which the writers gush about how great the item is. It's my experience that people will never want to admit openly that they bought a lemon and therefore tend to bend over backwards to say what a great choice they made. Because my local dealer doesn't stock this "legendary" pedal, I bought it online from Music 123 based on reputation alone. Am I disappointed? A little. Partnered with my HSS Strat and Ibanez PGM300 and 301, the sound is fine. A little warm, but acceptable. Tune your guitar down to E-flat and you might even get close to SRV's tone. But if you're partnering this with a Gibson LP or if you're expecting mega-crunch, then forget it. Perhaps most frustrating is there's a slight muddying of tone at all levels, almost as if something is clipping the edges of the sonic waveform. You get a fuzzy sound that's not overly annoying but it gnaws at you. I had to switch to a Boss OS-2 or a MXR Zakk Wylde to gain back some sanity, it was that disturbing.

Again, I'd warn you not to blindly accept what other reviewers say, not just for this product but reviews in general. People are reluctant to admit their failings - how many people for example, will tell you they lost money in a casino or stock market, versus those that boast that they made a killing? Best advice - if you play metal, forget about this pedal, if you play rock and blues, try first with your own guitar before buying. It might be rewarding but to me, it wasn't great.

This is a really easy pedal in my book simply because it has a very small sweet spot. The only good overdrive you can get is between 1 and 3 o'clock which is maxed out. After a few settings you can find the tone its made for.

If you like the blues/rock light overdrive this is a great pedal. There is nothing high gain about this pedal, if you are looking for anything above overdrive you can count this pedal out because it doesnt have alot of gain. THIS IS NOT JUST AN SRV PEDAL, yes I use a strat with it and yes I use a compressor with this pedal also but it depends on your style of playing as to how this pedal sounds. I use a Budda Superdrive 30 for an amp and it sounds killer. And yes I also have a Fulltone Fulldrive II and a Sparkle Drive, Im not sure what this douche below me is talking about.

Overall try it out, its a unique pedal in the form that it is not your typical overdrive box. If you want distortion count this box out. Take a look at it and try a compressor in the signal chain for a rounder smoother overdrive.

I used this pedal with marshall, mesa and fender tube amps. I bought this pedal based on reviews and hype. This thing does not have a good tone. The only tone this thing has is based on hype. Would you give $170 dollars for TS9 reissue if you buy this thing that is what you are doing. This thing is weak by itself but can drive another overdrive but not very well. Buy a keeley BD-2 or a sparkle drive these are worthy of great reviews. I believe people like the ts-808 because SRV used one but I believe SRV wouldnt use one if he were alive today because there are alot better pedal now days. Let your ears decide for you not what someone else uses. I tried this thing live and in the studio it always sucked.

If you set everything at 12 o'clock you start to get that rich, smooth overdrive that everybody talking about.

My rig is:Fender Stratocasters with Texas Special pickups-Dunlop Cry Baby Classic, Fulltone Deja-Vibe (the big gold one), BJF Little Green Wonder,Ibanez TS-808 reissue, Ibanez TS-808 reissue, Boss TU 2, Fender 65 Twin Reverb Reissue.
Yes, I got two ts-808 reissues, one for rythm and both for solo!!!
I can't tell you how much I like them. If you like tubescreaming overdrive stop your search and buy two of them. I love Texas-blues, and with this pair I can get near to every Texas guitar-slingers tone.
It may be the Stratocaster, but the pedal can do sweet, smooth jazztones, but just like magic it turns into a heavy-bluesmachine!!!
If you like Texasblues, Alan Haynes, Albert Collins, Johnny Winter, The Vaughan brothers, Doyle Bramhall you can't do wrong with the TS-808 Reissue. It loves the Fulletone Deja-vibe for you Robin Trower lovers.

Couldn't be easier. Three knobs for setting tone, level, and amount of drive; pretty self explanitory. The only negative (and it's minor) is the LED. As other have mentioned, it'd be nice if it were brighter, but it's there and it works, and you do get used to it.

For sound quality, this pedal lives up to the hype, lives up to it's legendary status. It delivers. I'm running it through a Fender Deluxe Reverb Reissue, using a Fender American Strat Plus with lace sensors. Others have described the 808's overdrive sound as "creamy" and I agree. It's not mushy like a Blues Driver can tend to be, and it's never harsh even with the drive knob fully cranked. Think of the lead guitar on "I Want You" on (The Beatles) Abbey Road - the 808 can nail that beautiful "slightly driven" sound perfectly.

Built like a tank. The originals are still functioning and demanding high prices after twenty-some years, so I'd say it's a pretty reliable design.

If stolen, I'd buy another one the very next day. This is a fairly expensive pedal that is worth every penny. I tried out a lot of overdrive (or overdrive/distortion) pedals before this one, but after the first five seconds of hearing the TS-808, I thought I had died and gone to overdrive heaven. If you want mushy, or fuzzy, or grungy, or some other phony electronic sound - then keep looking; this one's not for you. But if you want a beautiful, natural sounding overdrive that doesn't make you sound like you're playing through an effects pedal - look no further. This one IS everything they say it is.

Well I play on Fender Telecaster, Danelectro U3 all these guitars through a Fender Blues Jr. My two guitars are single coils and it plays great. BUT I also have an oringinal TS 808 "R", and there are some differences if you play on better gear (mostly the amp). Well some will says it's not a BIG difference (so it' not big on my own gear) but the original is much warmer on bigger amp... So I'm happy to have the reissue but this effect is not as warm as an original one. Not the same price too. BUT the TS808 REISSUE is a very good pedal to play with single coils guitars (I don't try it with humbuckers) and it's tone is very crunchy. Forget over overdrive pedals, and if you can't afford an original the reissue is also a great buy

Ammend my previous post as
Only problem: The schematic on the bottom of the unit denoting the ext.power supply polarity.. As shown center pole = (-) negative and outer pole = (+) Positive T H I S I S W R O N G ! When measured with the supplied "pigtail adaptor" the center is positive. this is the correct wiring, the manufacturer's drawing is wrong!~
The good news it is internally protected as when I wired the 1/8 mini plug as shown It only didn't work (No Smoke!) When polarized with center (+) It works fine.. I am a little surprised that Ibanez dropped such an important detail, after paying such close attention to everything else that makes this pedal worth thr $180. I paid..

Straight into The Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb RI alone it is perfect tone at the lower volume levels, In front of a '65 bandmaster between them in the chain is the Boss RV-5 Digital reverb, Most sweet! the higher the "output" setting (on the TS 808), the more excitation current with the RV-5 selected to "Plate" and the time set above the 1:0'clock position, It is SRV "Couldn't Stand The Weather"
Excellent tone, your strat pickup switch is responsive in all 5 positions!

I'm using this pedal in a chain that includes a budda wah, aphex compressor, akai phaser, boodoolab microvibe, maxon chorus, carl martin delay, and a boomerang. I use a twin reverb reissue, and american teles. This pedal is the best for the ts type of overdrive, a mid honk boost that will drive the front of your amp into a pleasant breakup. Of all the ts clones I've tried, only the maxon od808 comes close, and that lacked the warmth I was looking for. I use this with my compressor to get a very warm saturated lead tone, and use it by itself for crunchy rhythm tones. It'snot true bypass, but it's damn close, and for the sound and the price, I'm not complaining.

I would urge folks to check this one out, it's a million times better than the ts9, and it is comparable to all the overpriced clones out there. I don't think you need to mod this box for it to sound great, and that's all that matters to me. I'm sick of sending pedals away, and paying another $50 for them to sound like they should sound out of the box. This one is great stock, and for $140 or so, it can't be beat.
