IndyGuitarist Jekyll & Hyde 808 Mod

This pedal has been modded by Brian from Indyguitarist. I'm pretty sure that it just affected the green (Jekyll) side so that it was closer to TS-808 specs. I really have to take my hat off to him on this one. From the instant it came, I had a great setting, and found several more. It just sounded amazing.
As for the Hyde side, I wasn't a big fan of it by itself, but it worked well in conjunction with the Jekyll. Since Brian didn't mod that, I'm not going to let that affect my rating.

I'm running this through an Epiphone Wildkat and a Hagstrom I into a Fender Ultimate Chorus amp. The bad sound from the Hyde may be because the amp is solid state, but that doesn't stop the Jekyll side from being great. It's really bluesy and cool. Even though the Wildkat is a semi-hollowbody, it never feeds back unless I have both sides on with the volume up.

Built like a tank. But this review is for the mod, so I'm not going to give Brian the credit for Visual Sound's design.

I've emailed Brian back and forth and he was a really helpful and great guy. If there was anything wrong with it, I'm sure he would fix it.

The Jekyll side of the pedal is great. I've never had an overdrive before, and I really enjoy it. As for the Hyde, it doesn't compare to my wicked old Big Muff or my Rat but that's not Brian's fault and perhaps he can even spruce it up a little for me. It sounds kind of farty. So, for the Jekyll side alone, this is great. However, to get an even better value, you might want to look into seeing if he could do the mod on a cheaper and smaller pedal, or even on the Route 66 (which has a built-in compressor). That aside, this pedal will definitely become a trusted part of my setup.

may have been moded for true bypass as i dont remember this thing being this silent. check the reviews on the jekyll and hyde pedal itself and you will already see that its a great pedal and take not that most of the complaints or cons of that pedal has been improved with this very affordable modification

I owned a jekyll and hyde pedal about ayear ago and thought it was a great pedal at the time , since then I have owned about 20 stomp boxes all of which were either overdrive or fuzz/distortion. ( boss ds-1 , F.A.T. multi scream , vintage DOD 250 ,Mr ED , Sobbat fuzz breaker, Rogery mayer mongoose , Big muff russia & us versions , nelsound apex fuzz) as you can see some cheap ones some that cost a little more. I decided to try the jekyll and hyde out one more time since it was a very versitle and i was looking for something that was 808 based. I found this unit on ebay (flea-bay ) and decided to take a chance. After it arrived I plugged it in and i was totally blown away , the green channel was so full and natural sounding. so much more balls then my first jekyll & Hyde. this thing really is so much more of a pedal then it use to be.
I can hear every note i play and this thing reacts much like a very good overdriven amp , its open sounding in a very good way. I plugged this pedal in to my MIJ jazzmaster into a Top Hat club royal - Mesa boogie dc-5 - Vox ac30tb - Marshall bluesbreaker RI and it had stunning results .. I can get a mesa dc-5 (which is really a recto) distortion sound on any of my amps and thats freaking awesome. use it to boost my tophat into overdrive and its perfect. this sucker is dead silent , I use monster rock cables and george L's and my main set up is the Top Hat club royale 2x12 and the only hum is from my Jazzmaster. no color what so ever when its bypassed and believe me i hardly ever bypass this pedal. get one now !! its one of the better ones if not the best !

i have been gigging twice a month and practice about 6 times a month with the band and about 2 -3 hours a day at home. ( i sure as hell dont sound like i practice all that much) this thing hasnt given any problems , the battery life is long , no issues with switches ..visual sound made this pedal a tough one and im sure the mod hasnt made this thing weak in any way

My music is a mixture of 80's dark wave -mild experimental and early 90's modern rock ... bands i listen to ..pink floyd -radiohead -smashing pumpkins-nirvana - pixies- new order -joy division - interpol - etc etc.
I would def. try to get my hands on another unit if this met an unfortunate doom. I dont mind spending the cash when the products are this good. I own keeley pedals , analogman and other boutique pedals and this pedal is right at home with all those high priced pedals. great sound - versitle - no noise - need i say more ?? BUY IT NOW !!!
