This is a friendly pedal, easy to use. Good sounds come quickly right out of the box.

Sound Quality : 10
I love the sounds available with this pedal ... great gobs of thick overdrive that is very responsive and will settle down w/ a roll of the guitar volume. Sustain is great.

There are sweet spots all over the range of the Phat Axx. I tend to run with the creamy switch on and the bass boost off. But w/crunch you can get some really rocking tone too.

I have owned and used a LOT of od/distortion pedals, and this is one of the finest it has been my pleasure to play.

Reliability : 10
It seems pretty much bomb-proof and I gig w/o backup - ALTHOUGH
I bought a 2nd Phat Axx because I got a good deal on the 2nd one, and wouldn't want to be without one.

Customer Support : 10
I contacted Big Lloyde re/ different knobs on the 2nd order - and he said no sweat - you don't like chickenhead knob we got others. Quick and friendly response.

Overall Rating : 10
The P/A is probably my favorite OD/Distortion pedal - it adds a lot of character to my sound w/o coloring my tone and runs quietly.

I have been playing almost 40 years - Classic stuff (Hendrix - saw him 3 times live), Zep (saw twice) and tend to play more blues oriented stuff. Write some original things too. Love SRV (saw him 3x), and EJ (3x so far). I guess I am pretty proficient technically, but am at my best when tech/tone/heart all come in to play equally. I have heard a lot of players who shine technically but transmit little or no soul in their music.
Currently playing Strats with old tube amps - Seymour Duncan 8450 combo w/2x10 Vox/celestion and with a 12 Mojo Brit extension.
Other pedals include Xotic AC, TC Elec Chorus/Flange, ToneBone TriMode, Budda Wah, Boss 3delay, Line6 delay

Three knobs, Gain, Tone, Volume. Doesn't get much simpler than that. Each control is very responsive to adjustments, you can actually hear the change in tone.

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal is like no other I have ever had not like overdrive, distortion, fuzz but all these rolled into one real smooth sounding pedal. It is totally quiet. Individual notes stand out from the chords.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems to be high quality parts and construction.

Customer Support : 10
Genuinly nice person, easy to contact, glad to answer questions.

Having used many different variations of overdrive/distortion pedals, this was extremely easy to get in to. To me it seems the tone(presence) knob has two rotations swithcing bewteen the cream/crunch settings. But the tonal differences would say otherwise. I picked up a great sounding smooth creamy crunch in the first five minutes of playing it. No need for a manual but it did come with an informative sheet about the pedal.

Laid out real simple like for my mind.

Sound Quality : 10
Guitars : US Standard Strat with a seymour duncan phatman P90 in the bridge and a texas special in the neck. A G&L tribute ASAT special with a re-done neck and new electronics and nut(real bad factory setup had to be taken care of)

Amps : a modded '03 fender hot rod deluxe with JJ/tesla tubes and a celestion G12T-75 speaker and a 60s silvertone 30 watt head to a carvin 4x10 cab.

Pedals : Teese RMC1 Wah>T.C. Jauernig Electronics Luxary Drive Model T>Baja Tech Custom DA MOAF>Phat Axx>Silver Modded Analog Man TS-9>SIB Mr. Echo

Tones avaliable from creamy big chords and smooth leads to a fuller frequency tube screamer with more gain. The tonal options make this pedal so much better than anything else I've tried.

The Noise really depends on your setup. It's no louder or quieter than any other pedal of its nature.

You have a volume control to set the pedal to scream as loud as you please. The gain goes from slight drive to real thick distortion. The tones between the cream/crunch switch give you at least two worth of options. There's even an bass boost incase you want it.

I mix it with the lux drive for a saturation and the TS-9 for a solo boost.

True bypass switching for NO TONE LOSS when the pedal is off.

Reliability : 10
Solid pedal. Real light. No uselss crap floating around inside. No scratchy pots. Solid switches. I need to be able to gig without backup with nearly everything since I can't afford to have doubles of everything. This pedal is SOLID.

Brian from Indyguitarist.com answered all my questions within a day or two. He was helpful and quick. I appreciate his customer service and workmanship.

Overall Rating : 10
For the price this pedal is unmatched. The tones avaliable and quality of this pedal make it a killer deal.

I play all kinds of music. I just love to play guitar really. Currently I play in a folk/rock band and this pedal has been a total step up from modded TS-9. The phat axx could span quite a few genres if need be. Of this I am sure. I've been playing about 10 years now and this has topped the overdrive/distortion list. If this were stolen I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

The Phat Axx is just a great drive/distortion pedal. Excellent value.

I'm proud to be second only to Lloyd to review this pedal. Thanks again for your help in deciding on this pedal Lloyd!

Three knobs, two toggles, one for mid-boost and one for bass-boost. Very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely the very finest overdrive pedal I've ever heard, and I've tried more than I care to think about. The Gain knob on this sweeps between an overdrive sound all the way to a ballsy distortion, actually. So, for this particular pedal, 'overdrive' is a little bit of a misnomer. One gets much, much more than just overdrive.
Yes, there is also excellent note clarity and definition and no, it won't color your sound such that you won't remember what kind of guitar or amp you're playing.

Reliability : 10
So far, so good. Built very ruggedly. Short of an internal component randomly going on the fritz, I can't really see how it will prove to be any trouble at all.

Customer Support : 10
Brian is as approachable a builder as you're likely to find anywhere. Rather humble, too. Absolutely no hype.

Overall Rating : 10
Again, is an entirely great pedal and outright obliterates the competition amongst the high-end builders, for this kind of pedal. I can compare it to several other high-end pedal builders but I don't want to slag anyone in print so, for those interested in such, contact me. In the meantime, if you don't find the sound out of this pedal superb, it's probably time to take up another hobby.
