It has lots of controls, but it's EZ to get many cool fuzz tones from it.

It's very quiet, even with tons of fuzz dialed in. It's nastier than a Fuzz Face, but more controllable than a Fuzz Factory. This box cuts through a band beautifully, and has gobs of sustain. I don't understand the comparisons to a Boss Metal Zone, this is a boutique pedal and has a much more toneful sound than anything Boss has ever produced. Bypass is excellent.
I like the fact that it is not finicky like other fuzzes. It sounds great after a wah, and runs off a standard power supply. It's size is very pedalboard friendly.

if your getting this for any form of metal you will not be able to get a unwanted sound out of it. even if your not doing metal you will still get some really interesting good sounds out of it.
editing patches is super easy, as there seems to be no nomansland on the knobs everywhere sounds great.
no manual bought it used. but ts808.com the jacques site has the manual uploaded.

well i got this on ebay and have owned it for about a day. i had ran across these on the web before and was more or lessblown away by them. its pretty much what the metal zone should have been. minus a built in gate but, A. noise gates are cheap and easy to find. B.putting one in there might have met loosing quality on the product. C. all things considered its still not that noisy.
i can hear pretty much any metal act coming out of this pedal. if within one pedal you can go from randy to dimebag id say its doing it job. im not that into playing metal, but i like it and occasionally i like to have that sound. this pedal perfectly handled that.
i got mine on ebay for a steal considering they go for 200 and mine was 60. but on the other hand mine arrived looking like it had a run in with the mob. i say that cause it was covered with scrapes and looked to have sun and water damage. ive seen boss pedals in this shape and still work so i figured what the hell i got it for so cheap, well it completely works! nothing wrong whatsoever. which i find pretty impressive. its quite small and quite heavy, has that 70's stompbox feel to it. i kinda like how beat it is, gives it personality. its been through some shit.
originally i planned on just having it around but now its getting sa place on my board. heres my setup
jazzmaster reissue with quarter pounder bridge pickup and vintage neck and a mustang bridge with teflon saddles.
boss tu 2, whammy 4,hyper fuzz, jekyll and hyde, bat fuzz, milkbox,bi mode chorus, guyatone micro flanger, liqua flange, nano stone, pulsar, echo park, verbzilla on a furman pedalboard with power conditioner.
running into a fender hotrod deville 4x10 amp.
so if i get noise, its obviously for more reasons then one pedal. lol

well to sum it up if your wanting a super heave metal pedal get it. i dont think theres any all in one pedalsd out there its all preference. but if you need a heavier sound well im yet to hear better then this.
if it was stolen id find the person, take it back, and burn there house down....
i can see this pedal getting alot of use in the future, and having heard it now i would most definetly get it new.

I have only played this unit for one hour and I felt so moved by the tones I got from this pedal I just had to hit the keyboard and write a review. I have tried all sorts of overdrive/distortion/fuzz pedals and this is the easiest to create a great tone. Moving any knob changes the tone in a predictable way so it is easy to move towards the sound you want. In particular, the mix control that mixes the straight 70's distortion tone and the metal fuzz tone allows extraordinary tweaking of the tone to just where you want it. Much easier than any other pedal I have tried and I have tried a lot. The manual is basic and in interesting English! but the unit is so intuitive it really is no problem.

The tones go all the way from Pantera, Zak Wylde, Randy Rhoads to Iron Maiden, Def Leppard etc. And I got those all within the first hour of use. Each tone is crystal clear and very distinct. The scooped metal sound is killer and the hi-mid distortion sound is amazing. This is a very impressive heavy rock/metal pedal.
My kit is V with Zak Wylde EMG pickups, Burns Brian May, Gibson Explorer, Twin neck SG through to Peavey JSX Head and JSX cab plus a heap of other effects mainly MXR and Line 6 with some Marshall thrown in.
The interesting thing is that with a few of my overdrive pedals if I play into the overdrive channels all I get is squeals no matter what I do. With this pedal whether I am in the clean or overdrive channels I am completely in control of the sound. The overdrive tones on the JSX are out of this world already and this pedal just seems to enhance the sound. Notes just beg to come off yor fingers. It really is exhilerating. It is a long time since a pedal has made me want to just play and play and play. In fact after writing this I am going back for more!

I play rock/metal from 70's onwards to modern. I have been playing and seeking my tone for over 20 years. I am really a bass player but I dabble in 6 string
god help the thief who stole this from me. I would not tell the cops I would deal with them myself and then get another one, maybe two to be sure.
the mix feature is absolutely wonderful. Being able to mix 2 distortion units so easily and creatively is amazing.
I cannot wait to make sweet music with it. I am already thinking of which song to learn next.

Getting good sounds is a matter of taste what you are looking for. But definitely is versatile and good sounds depend on good guitar. This box ROCKS.
If you tweak the mix knob down it sounds like a fuzz. If you mix it with the eq section is like mixing a muff fuzz with a metal distortion unit like boss Metal Zone etc.

This pedal is a Pandora's Box in a GOOOOOOOOD way. Is like running a Big Muff through a Boss Metal Zone or any other metal box plus an equalizer and NO noise.I run mine with a Gibson Les Paul Classic. I also own a Fuse Blower, Tube Blower, Mercer Box and a Meistersinger chorus, obviously from Jacques.
My set up is Gibson Les Paul Classic -> Jacques Fuse Blower -> Digitech Whammy 2 -> Boss V-Wah -> Electro Harmonix Small Stone Phaser -> DOD Supersonic Flanger -> Jacques Meistersinger Chorus -> Jacques Mercer Box concept distorion -> Jacques Tube Blower overdrive -> JACQUES BATFUZZ metal dist/fuzz -> Danelectro French Toast octave fuzz -> Digitech X-Series Synth Wah -> Digitech X-Series DigiDelay -> to a Kustom Tuck N' Roll half Stack.
This distorion is so soaring that it can achieve Nine Inch Nails records distorion growls in a live performace ambience.
Like any hi-gain distortion unit has the usual noise get a noise gate and that's it.

Six nobs (a bit like the FB2), top three control bass, middle and treble, bottom 3 level, mix and fuzz. Can take a while to get the sound you want, depends entirely on what you're after.

O.K., Vintage les paul copy with twin humbuckers, lany linebacker combo. There is no background noise on this feller. Read that last bit again, none, zip, zero. This is quieter than the FuseBlower2 by quite a long way. The next thing is that in no way can this replicate the sounds on FB2. This is not an overdrive pedal, it will only kick out heavy distortion. In that respect this is probably the best metal pedal knocking about, it beats the Boss MT2 hands down. I find it usefull for over the top squeedly dee guitar solos, but nigh on useless for full chords. Although you can here all of the notes it sounds just a little bit too tinny and messy when mixed down as part of a full track.

I origionally bought to use as a replacement overdrive distortion pedal and found it not too useful, however i've subsequently bought the FB2 for this and now use the Battfuzz for solos. For that it is spot on. The fact that i didn't know fully what i was getting into is my own stupid fault for being a compulsive buying fool. Still now i've found what to use for it has its own unique sound and you can always spot it on a track. Other gear i've includes the Jacques Fuseblower 2, a whammy pedal, cry baby, danelectro back talk and a tc electronic m300. I've been playing the guitar, writing and recording music for over 15 years. This pedal would be a welcome addition to any guitarist rack of effects. It distinct, rich and heavy as hell.
