You must sit down for a few minutes to figure out the combinations of sounds you can get , but then its no problem at all to get some SUPER sounds from the box !

Sound Quality : 10
SUPER !!! you can get a very good fuzz , clean booster , overdrive and octafuzz right out of the box! You can sound like Jimmy and a lot of guitarists from the 70' ,COOL !

With about 4 mos on this pedal I cam to the conclusion that Jaques tried to make this fool proof. Either use this pedal as the perfect clean boost - or for scortching leads or you can find a lighter plexi on fuzz somewhere in the middle. The nice thing about this pedal is no matter what it's use it is ver easy th "Regulate" your sound. I almost pulled this from my effects chain because I was using it for it's plexi sound and I play through an amp that sounds very close to a Plexi - but the thing is the tube breakup of my head was not very consistant with a nice clean to a distorted sound. This pedal can be overdriven and it actually "Acts" like a tube amp. This is like the marvel mystery oil of stompboxes and I think that's why it gets a bad rating. My argument here is that no matter what your setting and usage the quality is there. I am very enticed to check out more of Jaques' pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
I use an Orange strat with 57 Fender pickups or a gibson custom shop strat with seymour d's into a wah, boostpedal, and a wells amp pedal and a tom anderson big muff style pedal into a flanger, the Mercer and into a Sound City 120 custom built mark IV into a Mesa Rectifier 4x12 cab. The sound is incredible - I usually have the Mercer on about 95% of the Time - I am just starting to experiment for with it's lead values. This box almost acts as a anolog plexi simulator and again it can be overdriven and it is true bypass - Outstanding sound that is pretty timeless It can sound a little Jimi to more of a Mesa recifier sound. Huge spectrum oh and the feedback is very controllable. No need for a hush on my system. If you are searching for a boost pedal or a pedal for a unique lead tone this is a very interesting option. Check it out. This pedal shines with a tube amp creating a signiture sound, or it can make a 100 dollar solid state piece of shit amp sound like some vintage "oh this amp was owned by every great stone head lsd band from the 60's that why it is 2 grand" type amp. So get it and try to figure out the mysterious settings yourself.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank and the battery compartment is easily accessable - Lifetime gaurantee as long as the seal is not broken.

Available via email - I emailed him about the availability and he got back to me in a day or so.

At this point I NEED this pedal in my chain. I almost need to of these - one for clean and one for lead. It sounds great and there is a bit more to this pedal then meets the ear. I've been playing for about 15 years and went through numerous pedals some of which I sold the next day. this pedal is versital, unique and the sound is very clean - made for current times where noise is an issue and CD quality is what is needed for recording. This pedal is well made and it will never be lost - Stolen? I guess I would search for some idiot selling it on ebay or I would buy new.

The Mercer Box is an 'empathy fuzz pedal' for guitar ... it can create a powerfull fuzz sound or simply emulate a plexi sound like adding power at the end of a chain of pedals ... it is very relative how to use it ... the instructions are just a start to involve you in explore its possibilities ;)

Sound Quality : 10
Like the Fuse Blower it sounds GREAT. If u want an example take 'Whole Lotta Love' tone from the original Led Zeppelin record, or some of the best Jimi's live sounds, it works like the fuzz of your dreams ... you only need to take patience and learn how to use it correctly!

Reliability : 10
This is another box from my studio/live pedalboard, a part of my sound.

Jaques is always ready to get an answer to your madly questions like 'how many love needs the Mercer to fire up my amp?' ;)

Here's always GD, so get a look to the 'Fuse Blower' review, or simply come to visit my official web page at www.GD78.com

Yes, it helps me to make my sound apart from the rest.

For a pedal with four knobs and one button, it is not as easy as it appears. Jacques' instruction sheet is fun to read but does not disclose the different tonal possibilities that this unit can generate. The good news it that it sounds very good in most settings.

Sound Quality : 9
Guitars are Fender Duo Sonics and Strats (some with humbuckers). Amp is a 1982 Fender Concert. I usually include other pedals in the effects loop and before the input, but the Mercer Box does best (for me) as the last pedal before the amp. Like Jacques' Fuse Blower, the Mercer gets pretty out of control with all knobs maxed. But at lower levels, this pedal has a fantastic tonality that is along the same lines as the Fuse Blower. With a fresh battery, the Mercer can do a tremendous clean boost. Not noisy at all at lower levels. When either the Fuz and Hate knobs are maxed, there is added noise - but there is also tons of distortion.

"Love" is like a type of tone control that adds bass as the level is increased.

"Fuz" is self explanitory. The taper on the fuz pot is gradual on low and extreme towards "10".

I'm still trying to figure out the "Hate" knob. When it's around 8.5-10, it adds alot of distortion.

"Vol" is self explanitory.

The Mercer works wonders when amplifying weaker pedals. That is why I use it last in the chain before the amp. Works great on bass also - has a super wide bandwidth and does not screw up the tonality of your guitar.

Reliability : 10
Seems to be of the same quality as the Fuse Blower. I did notice that one input jack was plastic. So far, I've realized that this pedal is more useful than the Fuse Blower. I prefer it over a TS808 for clean boost.

It does very well in live situations, also.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had any problems with either of Jacques' pedals. At first, I thought my Mercer had a bad jack on it, but it turned out to be the cable I was using. They never leave the front of my amp, whether at home, practice, or playing out.

Jacques is a true character in terms of personality, as evidenced by his emails and website.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing for 13 years; my style is rock based. Primary guitars are Fenders, amp is a 1982 Fender Concert. The features that I love are: tone (fantastic), durability (not like a brick but still very sturdy), and the fact that Mr. Charbit builds these all by himself. You can practically hear the pride and dedication in the circuit. It just sounds GREAT.
