This is a good pedal that does a pretty good job of preserving your guitar tone. It is advertised as not another ts-808 clone. Hmmmm.....I think it is another ts-808 clone! Granted it doesn't have the same mid boost, but it's character is pretty close in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it's better than a tubescreamer. I'd like to compare this to his tube blower.

It is advertised as being a crunch pedal. It's not really up to that task in my opinion. It still sounds very much like IC chip overdrive to my ear. I would call this a great medium gain overdrive. You cannot go from clean to crunch by digging in. That is my biggest complaint with this pedal. My HAO soul pressure and Barber LTD are much better at that trick.

Jacques has a habit of overhyping his pedals. His website says this sounds like a vintage marshall overdriving; that is bullshit. He says this is the ultimate overdrive. I'll let the cat out of the bag right now. It's not. How many products have made that claim? Jacques do yourself a favor and avoid those types of cliches.

I wanted this pedal to replace my HAO unit. That's not gonna' happen but it has found a place on my pedal board as my medium gain overdrive sound. I needed something for that sound and this fits perfectly. Just goes to prove "you can't allways get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find..."

This is a great pedal, a wonderfull alternative to a tube screamer. Works for rythm as well as lead. For me tubescreamers sound to thin for rhythm.

Honestly the pots, jacks, and housing are not top quality which surprised me. Good switch though. Jaques needs to take a look at some of the american boutique makers to get an idea of the build quality we expect. Also the knobs and footswitch need to be rearranged so the knobs are not so easy to step on!

Great pedal, but not mind blowing. This is my first Jacques pedal and It makes me want to check out more from him.

I take drugs to make music to take drugs to. This fits the bill, but I 'm not sure I'd replace it. There are too many pedals and not enough time. If I couldn't find anthing better than I would replace it, but I'd try a few more in the mean time.

I love the super saturated overdrive tones, but I hate that it won't do a true crunch sound as it was advertised. I wish it had input for a power supply, but the battery holder is top notch at least.

This overdrive stompbox is effortless to use. The controls, 2 knobs and a footswitch, are pretty strait-forward. 1 knob is the gain, the other is volume and then of course the footswitch. It didn't take me more than a few moments to find a sweet spot between my guitar and amp.

This unit is handmade and is housed in the same material has those old metal computer boxes. The black knobs are a close match to the chicken-type of knobs It has no input for any type of power supply, hence, it is soley battery(9V/DC) powered. Though the battery is really easy to change. There is no L.E.D. on this unit

Set ups are between a various guitars with that are equipped with either humbuckers or single-coil pickups in line with a Marshall Tube amp. Then having the Jaques Sleeptalker pedal in-between the guitar(s) and amp.
Dialing both the gain and volume knobs so that they are pegged all the way to the 5-o'clock position can produce a bit of noise. Otherwise any other position is fairly quiet. However, I doubt if I would ever need to dial the knobs at its maximum threshold.

This overdrive unit is fairly subtle when attenuating or padding the desired threshold. With this unit, controlling the volume on the guitar has a more signaficant varience of extracting or diminishing the drive, rather than just using the dials on amp or the stompbox itself. Also, this pedal responds in a matter of how the strings of the guitar is struck/plucked.

The unit can be very much "transparent" at the right settings. It is a true overdrive. The stompbox is not adequate for most types of metal since the nature of this overdrive unit is more of a delicate type.

I like it.

I would use unit without a back-up. So far it has been dependable. Not much to say here.

I have been playing for years and bought or used many devices and gadgets. I am happy with this. However, I will not use this for every song that acquires overdrive or distortion since this does not reach high-levels of heaviness. But, I will definately use this device for almost anything else, even in some somewhat clean modes. It did good all my guitars. Compared to the Ibanez Tube Screamer or even some Maxons it will give them a run for thier money.
I think the newer version of the sleep talker has another knob for compression. I wish I would have gotten that one.
If it were lost or stolen, I "might" by the DD Cup instead.
