Im into Rock/blues playing in Buenos Aires, Argentina and I find it great for my style and kind of music that I play.I ve been playin for arroun 14 years and I really find a keeper with this pedal. I really love the soun it gives to my solos when I combine it with a Ibanez TS9 or my vintage RAT trough a JCM900 50watts Marshall combo.
I used to play with effect racks like rocktrons but i never match the sound that was on my mind, now that I play with a very basic gear I do, because now the sound comes really from my fingers.
The only thing I can say is that a led telling you the pedal is on can be really usefull.

Very easy to use. You've got gain & volume, and the option of using Pfuz or volume boost.

I absolutely love this thing. The boost is huge. A TS-9 won't even come close. Its very clean, with nice compression, but unlike the tubescreamers it doesn't get a whimpy bass signal (like the 808), and it doesn't add this narrow, nasal midrange (like the TS-9). Its great to set the clean channel of this slo-100 to about 5.5, set the Pfuz for "noon & noon," roll the guitar volume to 7 for a fat rhythmn sound, and then roll the volume up to 10 for really clean, vocal, long sustaining leads. I love it! ALSO: THIS MIGHT BE THE BEST BOOST FOR SLIDE GUITAR. The compression is great, just right for single coils and minihumbuckers. It actually lessens the need for dampening strings when you play slide. I was very surprised that this unit could be used in studio recording without adding noise to the track. Most engineers will get pretty prickly about distortion units because of the noise. Its sooooooooooooo cool!

This is the most formidable pedal I've ever seen. Really rugged. The interior seems really simple, so I don't think it will break.

This pedal is best for blues and blues/rock. It isn't a metal type pedal at all. If you like the sound of your amp, then this is a great one to get. I know for sure that I will never sell this, and its very unique. Total satisfaction.

The layout is slick. Two buttons, two knobs & no messing around. Like anything else, you'll have to mess with it and see how it interacts with the rest of your gear. If you simply put it between your guitar and your amp, you'll be off to the races in no time. I can't give it (or anything a 10). That would imply there's no room for improvement. Nothing is perfect. All of the classic have design flaws. Has the headstock ever fallen off of your $3,000 Les Paul? See.

Alright, I admit it. I consulted Harmony Central for guidance on this box. Sycophants and teenage digital fans aside, the reviews of this item seemed genuinely objective. I can't seem to find the "cranked '59 Bassman" tones I read about but hey, I learned a long time ago that no little metal box full of transistors is ever going to sound like a 50 year old tube amp. Realism people. Sounds good. The beauty of this thing is the clean boost. It is amazing how it just makes everything a bit louder. It doesn't effect the tone of the amp in any way. I was sceptical when I first read that but, it's true, man. I have a great tweed Bassman clone that sound like the fall of the Berlin wall at around 8. With this little box I can push it to move at around 3. "Why, that's dumb" you say. "Why not just turn up the amp?" The idea here is to goose it to the next level for the times when you need it. (Think lead break & monster open chords). Have you ever heard the Los Lobos song "Viking"? Listen to that and then you'll understand the tone. As for the "Zeppelin & Stones like" distortion (pfuz) feature, I don't see it. It's just fuzz. That's old hat. Buy a $70 Rat if that's your bag. This box will make you sound like Leslie West (back when he was still fat)if you take full advantage of the boost. 'Nuff said

I'm sure Gerald Weber would be his usual responsive, informative, good natured self if anything ever came up. (No, I'm not on the payroll. He's just a good guy, really). Email him with a legitimate question and find out for yourself. No nonsense though. Don't waste his time for the sake of the experiment. Have a point. I'll give a 10 here.

Overall, smashing. Buy one if you need to move. Good luck though. They've been eighty-sixed. Not sure why. I'm told they're being retooled in an effort to make them a little more affordable. I'm not sure of that though (do your own research). It would be a shame because they weren't that expensive to begin with. Have you checked the pricing on this "boutique" stuff lately? I bet the fellows from Fulltone and Klon drive mucher nicer cars than you and me.

I got the last one ever made!! this was one Mr. Weber had laying around and he sold it to me. It's pretty easy to use, just two knobs, a volume and gain. He had to explain to me the two different settings, the first is a boost for your clean and the second is a badass fuzz.

gutars: Fender Strat, Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Duo-sonic
Effects: Buffalo pfuz, Big Muff, Smallstone (I'm a big EH fan), Ibanez Delay and Chorus/flanger
This thing sound pretty damn good, its almost exactly what i've wanted. If you turn it up all the way it gets a good warm fuzz without the dirtyness. I get enough of that crap from the Big Muff, so this pedal is wonderful.

I mostly use a Tele with Rio Grande Muy Grande pickups in it. I also have a Gretsch, Hamer, Strat and others. This box sounds great with single coils. Real tough sounding. It smooths out more with humbuckers. The amp I play through the most is an ADA Rocket A-10 with a Greenback 25 in it. This pedal isn't noisy at all. Not modern sounding at all. Think Stones, ZZ Top and Zep. The clean boost sounds fat and warm. A lot like the Lovetone Brown Source, but a lot less expensive. Kinda sounds like you went up about two string guage sizes with the stomp of a switch! Very cool! No bass cut and cleans up real nice with the guitar volume knob.

I play a mix of music. Just about anything. I have 10 other fuzz pedals and this is one of the best. Different from anything else I have. (Lovetone, SIB, Fulltone, Z. Vex, Frantone) Probably the most natural sounding. Really organic, I guess. With several other pedals I have, there are "sweet spots" on the knobs. There are also "sweet spots" on the Buffalo Pfuz, but every setting sounds great!

Using a 74 lp custom and a 71 vibrolux all i can say is it's pure love. It isn't as nasty as my superfuzz and not as smooth as my tone bender but man, I was really surprised at the sound coming out of it.What do you compare it to sound wise? Well, with the vibrolux volume on 4 and the knobs on the buffalo at 12 o'clock it sounds like a 72 100 watt marshall head thru a 74 checkerboard cabinet with 25watt greenbacks with the volume set on 2. trust me i have the gear to compare it to. With the knobs on the buffalo cranked it gets more of a cranked 58 bassman sound that is just out of sight. I think Billy Gibbons had something to do with this box cause with enough tweaking that fat pearly tone pre 1975 comes bustin through.

only had it a month but no problems plus it is built out of tough sheet metal so it would hurt you more than you would hurt it. The decal is kind of lame and wants to tear off but as long as all the goodies are still inside who cares what it says.

I play music that is incoherent to most people but since i play only for myself I just call it blender music. I have had plenty of gear over the years and sold most of it to buy my first house, so now i get to start all over. I still have three guitars and four amps but can't seem to keep less than 30 pedals in my stable besides they are relatively cheap. If lost or stolen I would go into my room and get the other buffalo phuzz I bought at the same time as this one. That's right I bought 2 because it was a good deal and i couldn't believe there were two of these in the same store at the same time!
I just think it's a really versatile fuzz pedal it also has a boost feature that you can use but i would rather use my ts-9.
You know what i really wish it had was a tone knob this pedal would really be a monster if it had a tone knob. but then again a fuzz face never had one and look at its history.
I just thought I would share this with all of you because i am enjoying the sound of this fuzz pedal.

I play an '86 Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 through a Dr. Z Maz 18. The Buffalo Pfuz is the only effect I use. It adds the PERFECT amount of overdrive. The Dr. Z sounds great but sometimes could use a bit more signal at lower volumes. The Buffalo Pfuz fits the bill perfectly! I have tried the Matchless Dirt Box (too muddy) and the Ibanez TS-808 (too tinny). The sound of the Buffalo Pfuz is the best!

its built like a tank. i doubt there will ever be a problem with this one. the buffalo pfuzz was described by terry oubre as having a tone similar to jimmy page on "how many more times." that's pretty much it. the emphasis is definite ly on low midrange frequencies, coupled with a broad singing high end that is never shrill. it has a huge but clean boost (and i do mean huge!) it works great with all guitars. but it basically delivers just that one sound. it isn't versatile.

this pedal is great for blues and blues rock. it isnt good for metal type playing... not the death metal scooped sound at all... its pretty much in the vicinity of clapton's woman tone, page on led zeppelin 1, maybe somewhat of an eric johnson thing... single notes are wonderful with long sustain and harmonics (2,3,5,8) that blossom the longer you hold the note. it is pricey but unique.
