The position of the knobs don't always refer to the actual level of the parameter. That makes me want to choose a pedal with more knobs that when they are to 10 they mean 10.

The sound is good, if you love the "tape echo" type of sound, and you like to tweak a tail of a delay with a lot of parameters this is the pedal you want.

DON'T TRUST THIS THING! Mine lasted a few months, then the programs began to reset every time I turned the knobs to 0. I tried to restore the thing but with no luck. Then also the switch ceased to work correctly. I'm very pissed out.

The pedal would be good, if only it worked for more than two months.

I bought this new and on purpose.
Of couse it came with a manual and if you have one you want to read it.
It is easy to edit patches and save two sounds for stage use. Obviously not easy to mess with on the fly on the floor.
Mine has a slightly wonky switch but I am scarred to open it up as much as suggested.

I am a delay freak.
I have had , a copycat, space echo, digitech double play
Ibanez Harmonizer/delay MXR analog delay, korg tape echo etc.
I have on hand, a Memory MAn deluxe (vintage), Boss DD2, Electrix MOFX
YAmaha SPX50 Lexicon LXP5 lots and lots of delays. DGStomp Fender Combos, Bassman,
ProJr. Mesa subway etc.
I always reach for this pedal. Quirky ? Yes.
But if you know what you are looking for this is like having the history of the delay effect at your feet.
The sound of a delay that is just about to give it up. I love the crazy sounds, the warbling the feedback.
The extra eq, ducking, and predelay are features that require some study, but
are worth understanding.,
Between the ducking and the lo fi and the predealy OF COURSE this is different.

I 've used it on lots of gigs.
The batteries are a pain, the switch sometimes hangs, who cares.
It does some freaky stuff. I like it.

i'm using a fender rock pro with a epiphone standart with dimarzio caps, and a pro co rat distortion, and when i turn on, the volume goes down, sometimes, don't work correctly.
i'm a fiend of rich delays, like old maxon or boss dm2.

The interface demands you to keep switching back and forth between two "banks" to change the most basic settings, which are scattered unevenly. Pretty inconvenient.

Real weak, dry, boring delay.
I like rich, fun, manipulatable, space-creating delay, analog or digital. I've heard lots of good ones.
This thing just repeats what you played, and somehow it sounds worse. Short delays sound phasey, long delays sound boring.
Of course, like any effect, you can use the sound it creates -- but the only way I could really use this thing is to play up its bad-ness for some lo-fi noise/instrumental composition, in combination with some other pedals/effects.

Not a good match for me -- like I say, I like delays that create an interesting space of their own, not just mimic what I play like some low-end riff-learning sampler.

Takes a little getting used to the switchable controls, but once you've got it sorted out it's pretty straightforward. That being said, it's easy to get flustered in a live situation and forget which position the switch is in - i've sometimes adjusted the wrong parameter.
Delay/Pre-Delay knob is on the outside, which is great in that you can replace the knob with something a little larger, and control it with your foot.
One thing you do get with this pedal is the Pre-Delay option, which can confuse a little if you've never had the option before! :o)

I'm using this for bass (haven't tried with guitar) and it sounds quite amazing. My rig is a Rickenbacker 4003, Boss OC2, DOD FX25B, Sansamp Tri-AC, EH Smallstone (US), Boss Bass Chorus, Korg 301, Boss TU2.
The high and low cut controls mean you can filter out low-end delays that can muddy up the sound. Sounds more like an analog echo than most other things i've used, but can still sound pretty pristine (ie digital) when required.
Like others have said, yeah, it's noisy, but that's part of it's charm I reckon.
Gives incredible delayed seagulls when i'm using a bow on my bass, or doing string scrapes.
Tried many other delays, even the DL4 didn't have the chutzpah that this unit delivers. Now, if only the next section was up-to-scratch...

Sucks arse. Volume dropout is common after bypassing the effect, delay and pre-delay time fluctuates even while delaying a note (that can sound kinda cool, but useless if you've set the delay time specifically). Supposedly stores the programs even with the power off - sometimes works for me, most often doesn't.
I play live with it, and it's failed me so many times i'm surprised it's still on my pedalboard.

Bought it used, so caveat emptor. I think this kinda stuff is so mass-produced that there seems to be no desire to provide any backup support.

My primary tastes are in the dub/experimental/ambient vein (current band mixes these with alt.rock/indie grunt), and for what i'm after, this pedal excels and then some.
However, it's reliability has made a monkey outta me on stage before, so I thought i'd post a eulogy-like review before I retire it (good wedge shape, so maybe it'd work as a door-stop?).
One last thing. Korg - AA batteries for power? Get a freakin' grip, no musician carries those readily.
She gets a overall rating of 5 as she is - it'd be a 9 or 10 if she were reliable.
If anyone has a cheap working one for sale, i'd be keen...

Here's the problem. Do you have any idea how many of these are completely non-functional? My tech has a pile of them that he's had for quite a long time. He says that Korg has been no help (they even let people's warranties expire without helping them)... even though all they'd have to do is provide a floppy disk... but without the disk, apparently there's no fixing them. The only reason I gave this a generous "2" is that some of them seem to still be working. Anyway, keep this in mind before you buy a new korg product! (Although they really do have the best cheap tuner on the market...)

Easy to use and edit, and I'm not very savvy when it comes to that sort of thing. Once you grasp the function of the toggle and how to save a patch, you're home free. I got mine used off Ebay, no manual but there is a post below that goes into detail about how to edit and save patches, so I use that as my manual.

Much has been made about the noisiness of this unit, and it is noisy for a digital unit-about as noisy as an analog unit, I'd say. Not unusable at all. The best thing about this pedal is the ducking feature and the ability to adjust the high AND low end rolloff. The ducking feature enables you to run it through the front end of a distorted amp without as much of the "distorted echo" wierd garbled tone that we all know and dread. The higher you turn up the ducking feature, the less echo you will hear when you are playing-works great! There is a hi fi/lo fi knob, I prefer the high fi settings with the high end rolled off-the lo-fi sounds wierd, and not really in a good way, IMO. I'm using this in front of a Top Hat Club Royale, and it sounds fine-does what I need it to do. I set one patch for slapback and one for longer delay w/multi repeats. A tap tempo would make this pedal EXTREMELY versatile, but it's fine for what I need it for.

This is really a cool little delay. The ducking feature, hi/lo end rolloff, and two saveable settings make it a winner in my book. As I said, tap tempo would make it awesome, but for $45 I'm certainly not complaining!

Rather complicated because of the toggle switch that gives the knobs another function ? when you flip the switch between the two modes there?s no way of telling the setting (apart from by ear). Don't try tweaking this thing in a hurry live ? it won?t work! They should have put in more pots instead.

I?ve used this with different amps and guitars and the basic problem is hiss. I can?t stand it - it?s just too damned NOISY!
Apart from the noise it sound really great. Fantastic idea for a digital delay! It?s got all the features that I want a delay to have. Either you can use it as a clinically clean digital delay or as a more analog sounding echo. I like my delay before the preamp so the delayed signal gets distorted by the amp ? this just produces a really sweet interference between the dry and delayed signal at times ? a tormented jagged kind of sound that I?ve grown to love. And the Lo-Fi setting with a bit of lo-cut and hi-cut just accentuates that. Gets midrangy and nasal - sounds bad in a very musical way - the delayed sound just bites back at you real nice.
If it weren?t for the noise I?d give it a 9 but the hiss makes it imposslible for me to use.

Nope, you can?t depend on it. A friend of mine bought one at the same time as me (4 years ago) and his has died on him and mine behaves eratic at times (loses stored programs). I don?t use it anymore. If your playing relies heavily on delay effects, bring a backup.

Best features I?ve seen in a compact stompbox delay ? just what I always wanted. I thought my search for the ideal delay was over when I read about this thing. How hard can it be to build a digital delay that does the lo-fi thing plus a hi- and a lo-cut, BUT WITHOUT THE NOISE??? Can someone please get it right? It doesn?t even need programmability, predelay or ducking ? just a good delay that you can get to sound more analog and fuck around with the EQ of the processed signal.
I went back to my Boss DD-3 for a while ? which sounds a bit clinical but at least is quiet and reliable ? until I recently upgraded to a Line6 DL4. The DL4, which has a lot of features, however has a subtle but notiseable processed cheesey sound to it that I have a hard time dealing with. Will the search ever end...?
I would?ve sold it if it weren?t for the fact that it might come in handy while recording sometime. None of my other delays can give me that sweet lo-fi vowel like tone... but then again the noise might make it useless.

FANTASTIC! It's just like a tape echo! The best pedal KORG has ever produced! The best features are the HiFI/LoFI-Sounds, (with LoFi you can let it sound like an analog one!) and the Pre-Delay-Funktion! WHOAH! Andy Summers - Sounds are possible connected with a good chorus! Now you are able to play POLICE'S "The Bed's Too Big Without You" !!! :o)
