Firstly, I bought it because it of the knobs because I was sick of using buttons. It was easy to use in the shops. And lots of fun. The manual is good but I didn't use it for the first two months- just kept myself busy with all the basic features.

I use an Epiphone Coronet and and Ibanez CT Strat an Australian Scorpion 2 channel 1000w amp. I play light, meloncholy grunge/rock. Like I said, I bought it because I was sick of knobs but it didn't take me long to get sick of the fuzziness and the weakness of the distoted sounds. And that's what I got it for basically. I used to have a Zoom 2020 and I bought this so I could get some decent sounds and our other guitarist plays a Boss DS-1 stomp box (that's all!) with a Washburn G-II and that sounds much better. All other effects are fine. I just bought an old ME-5 to replace it. Anyone interested??? lol

I've gigged with it about 10 times. I'm sure it's fine but once it started buzzing and humming loudly beefore a gig and I wasn't going to be able to use it. Fortunately it came good just inm time.

I was able to quickly learn how to use this unit without reading the manual. Most of the settings and controls are right in front of you so it is extremely east to make changes. If fact this was the determing factor in deciding to purchase the Korg AX1000G.

None of the multiple effect units I tried are great when it comes to sound quality, the Korg is no exception. Unfortunately digital effects while enhancing the capabilities of your amp also have a detrimental effect on sound quality. Some of the distortion presets are noisy especially when used with a single pick-up. As in all the digital effect units I tested some presets are better than others and some tweaking is required to improve sound quality. For the most part all of the effects (Reverb, Chorus, Delay, Flanger, etc ...) worked reasonable well.

For the most part the unit appears solid with the exception of the display - it is not very well protected.

I looked at the Yamaha DG Stomp, Digitech RP100,200,300 and Zoom products. They all sound slightly different however I would be hard pressed to say one of these units sounds better than the others. The reason I selected the Korg was ease of use, price and I wanted a unit that had a useable acoustic simulator. The features I liked the most were the acoustic simulator and the "Individual" mode. The individual mode allows you to select and tweak individual effects. Also having a pedal that you can assign to control volume or one of the effects is a bonus. One thing I wish this unit had was a power switch.

It's pretty easy to use, even without a manual. Still you'll need to read the manual to figure out some things (e.g. saving patches, using phrase trainer etc.). Making your own patches ain't hard at all, just experiment a bit.

I'm using the Washburn Paul Stanley Signature Guitar and a pretty old 60W 2-channel guitar amp. Some of the factory settings are pretty noisy (especially Corn & Dyme), but I used the Noise Supressor function when making my own patches and the result is pretty cool. The distortions are surprisingly good, maybe except Tube Overdrive (sounds a bit fake to me...it's only my opinion though). All the other effects (flanger, chorus, echo, reverb, phaser, octaver, wah etc.) are pretty cool, too. I can get all the sounds I want (I play 80's rock and heavy metal - bands like Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Joe Satriani etc.).

I haven't used it live yet, but I've got a couple of gigs coming up with my highschool band and yes, I would use it without a backup. It's made of metal and I like it. I hope that the expression pedal wount let be down.

I play mostly rock and heavy metal, sometimes even blues and this unit is a pretty good match. I've been playing for like 2 years and the main thing I need is a good distortion sound. Don't go buying ZOOM effects, 'cause these Multi-FX units really suck. I would never buy an effects box made of plastic.
So, if you don't have much money and you want a good Multi-effects unit, get Korg AX1000G.

Sounds great, with the only exception that it doesn't add sustain to the notes very much (which I think I've read in other reviews).

Two weeks after I bought it the red 7 segment display starting acting up and I took it in to the store for repair. They sent it out for repair and after 8 to 10 weeks they ended up giving me my money back as it looked like it was never going to come back. Makes me feel like multi-effects boxes are disposable items after the warrany is up. Took the money and bought an amp instead as at least they are repairable.

See reliability for my story on this one. When I hear that Korg (who never repaired my AX1000G distribute Marshall and Vox in Canada I kind of cringe that my new AVT50 never breaks down.

I don't own it any more as they gave me the option of cash/new unit after they took so long and did not return the original unit and hey, after that long a repair time, I took that cash.
I found it to be a lot of fun and sounded great.

It is really easy to get a great sound quickly, with almost no experience. Like childsplay to edit effects and move patches. The manual is not very helpful, but the processor does have an 'individual' mode where you can tinker and save really easily. With effects like KoRn and Guns and roses and Led Zeppelin already programmed its really quick to start!

I've tried a Laney TF320 and a really old amp with this unit, and it is great on the Laney and ok on the old one. It can be noisy if you want, but silent if you don't! All the effects seem to sound good as far as I have played. I ahve a Fender Squier Affinity that I use and it's perfect. As this was second hand it had some cool effects that I like, Green Day, Offspring, KoRn Guns n Roses and Blink 182, really great sounding.

I use a cheap guitar (soon yamaha rgx420s) with Korg AX1000g and an original crybaby.
The unit is outstanding but not perfect. I think sound quality is the most important part of the review...so i'm just gonna straight things out here. The Drive...well everything here is good and usable if u know how to tweak it. The cabiner ... well good if you want it to sound like a famous amp or expensive amp.The modulation.. well some work for me and some are unuasable / useless for live playing , the chorus flanger, delay , phaser , tremolo are verygood, the pitch is and filtron is not bad but THE WAH IS VERY WEAK. The pedal... everythis is good exept the wah. The ambience is good if u want some color in your sound.one important thing, some effect like mod and pedal cant be used at the same time. The noise supresor is good but don't use it above 80 because it will extremely reduce your sound quality.Notice that i use the word extremely.

Well... a few month after i bought it the unit start to get stain especially the edges part. The knobs can be accidently turned on stages by guitar cables and that is dissaster. The progran switches is very small , weak and too close to each other especially to the bank switch. i think it was designed for thumbs not for shoes, thats make it very difficult so hit the switch on dark stage. The LCD is good for dark stage but very bad in daylight because u can't read the LCD while standing.Another major flaw is it doesn't have an on/ off switch so you have to pull the adaptor to turn it off and that is annoying . The tuner is nice in bypass or mute.

Buy a crybaby and it rocks. All impoortant effects in one unit at an affordable price. All you have to do is turn the understand the knobs functions and know how to turn them. Probably the biggest flaw in this unit is it doesn't have a down bank swithch seperately so u have to use your hands to bank down and that is not good "on stage".

I've got a fair experience of guitar pedals, so I knew what to expect anyway, but found this much easier to master than most - I mean, the settings are right there before you eyes, on seperate knobs! I used to own a BOSS GT3, which (can be) horribly complicated, so it was a joy to get nice sounds from a couple of twiddled knobs.

This pedal sounds excellent. I have come 'down' from a BOSS GT-3 and I honestly find it nicer to listen to the Korg! it's quite hard to make a terrible sound on it because it's so self explanatory and simple to use. The distortions are nice, not harsh at all, and the presets are OK; they give you an idea of what can be done, and the names of the patches (Z*P*L*N, voodoo, bizkit), give you an idea of what theyre supposed to be emulating!! :)
I have gone from Radiohead to Joy Division to The Smiths to the Manic Street Preachers on this unit, and it can be very accurate with the right settings...
I use it with a Mexican Fender Strat mainly, with the worst amp ever. And it still sounds lovely.

I got it pretty cheap, so understandably the fact I think it's a great pedal is a real bonus!! I'd have paid double for it, I really think it sounds fantastic, and it's nice and simple to use.
I think a pedal like the BOSS GT-3, which might sound better in certain respects, and has a lot more features, was wasted on me really, when something this cheap and this easy to use can bring me much more joy!!

This unit is pretty easy to get good sounds out of it.Even some of the factory presets are good!Editing is simple,I realy like turning a knob instaed of tring to find my way to what paramiter I want to adjust. For example if you want to change the expression pedal from volume to wah all you do is press the pedal switch, then turn the knob above to vox wah and your done.you dont have to go unlink the expression pedal from on thing and then asign it to another. Also the exp pedal can turn on/off effects with a firm press down on the pedal.even has a LED to let you know when its on or off.manual is good also. The display is back lit so you can see what the name of the patch is on a dark stage. You can rename your patches move them to where you want to,you know all the usual stuff.

I run this into a Crate half stack going right from guitar to the unit to the input of the head with ibanez guitars,Two Jems and a RG350.I set bass /mids/treb to 1/2 and turn the rev off on the amp.The unit is pretty quiet. If you do have noise the NR works realy well. The chorus flang delay phaser rev are all GOOD!Ring mod and pitch are ok and the talk is better than others I have heard.I play Rock Metel & some harder blues stuff with my band and this sounds like it will cut through well on stage.Im still tring to find time to get a good patch for the love of god by Mr Vai but I know its there.

I'm using a Jackson with two single coils and a humbucker, and a Fender Strat through a Fender Princeton Chorus. THe unit is never noisy with my guitars. Only probably sometimes on distortion if you have a cheap guitar like the Squire ripoffs. Overall, you can get any sound you want from Korn to Steve Vai or P.O.D. to Satriani. Everything's here. And the distortions kick ass!!! They're warm and can get really heavy if you have the right amp to go with it. It beats the ^#%#&$ out of Digitech's models and other brands. All the effects are definitely worth playing. The is okay. Way better than other multi effect boxes I heard from. THis is a best BUY!!!
