I don't really understand the trouble people have using this unit. It's easier than controlling my tv I can tell you. All the changes are done with simple turning of pots. To me it explains itself. I'm used to multieffects where you scroll through hidden menues. No such thing here.

Sound Quality : 6
Here I have one of my biggest complaints. All sounds lack treble. Even though all my patches have the highs turned to 10 it's still muddy. The other guitarist in my band uses a Line6 pod and sounds way clearer than me. Otherwise the sounds are very good for the price. As said by others, it sucks that you can't combine more effects. Usually you end up with an amp and a modulation effect. I have solved this by using my old Boss ME6 multieffectsunit chained after the AX100G. The ME6 provides the highs and the delays/reverbs. The AX100G provides the amps and the modulationeffects. At the price you get a lot to choose from. I mostly use the pitchshifter and the tremolo. Be careful not to use extreme settings(one octave and more) on the pitcheffects. They rarely are in tune, and you end up with an unwanted(unmusical) vibrato. Look at this product as a first possibility to try out a lot of effects. Then by a real unit that have the effects you like and do them properly. At beginnerlevel the AX100G fullfils your every need. The amps are the best. I tried out several cheap multieffects(such as the zoom 505II), and the AX100G by far the best. It even handles semidistorted sounds really nice. Light tube-breakup is easy to recreate.

Reliability : 3
My AX100G broke up at the first gig I used it. The ampswitch went nuts and started to switch amps in the middle of songs. This was because I must have accidently hit it pcking it down or something. The trick is to choose the "fat dist" amp. Thereby the switch is straight and steady. The problem occured a few times after the gig, but it has worked nicely otherwise. I have not had any problems with the pedals at all. They do the job nicely. The unit is lightweight and you pin it to the ground if you want it to stay put.

Customer Support : 2
I have had nothing to do with KORG. Their homepage gives you no information at all. It seems that the Pandora-units are more i focus there sadly.

Overall Rating : 6
I play rock/pop. I like the fact that you can choose distortion-clones as well as amp-clones. All equipment these days seem so amp-oriented. The dist-boxes gives you a unique and cool sound. Not just Angus Young-marshall or Linkin Park-mesa. It's like a buffe where you get to try different sounds out. It does none of them perfect, but hey it's almost a giveaway for the price. By the AX100G to learn which effects you like, and then by a real multieffect that has these. I for one learned that i couldn't live without the pitcheffects and simulated distortionboxes for example. I'm glad I didn't by a amp-simulator, because they often lack both these effects.

It takes me time to figure out whats good in this gadget, but i find this thing a mean machine...clean,chorus,wahs,metal,british are very good except for the stupid ring sound, maj, min etc...etc... & other useless effects...

Sound Quality : 7
Im using a Japan fender Squier/Hohner Les Paul Style and tried it on yamaha pacifica guitars...tried it on Crate, marshall,& peal amps, Distortion/gains/volume/shifting effects are good but fucking breaks loose of the stupid power adaptor, change 3 times already & no power on/off.

Reliability : 8
Dependability? seems ok...can get used to it,but always bring extra power supply...and ensure the quality of the cable for the distortion effects...

I also own a Zoom 505 II,which I used to think adequate .It's not. This unit is.The Korg is both easier and more difficult to use as the amp model,"eq" and levels are adjustable on the fly, but, *within* a [eg] chorus or delay patch you have to use the same eq pots to trim out the time and delay THEN save the patch again THEN return your eq to standard position...THEN [for preference] select "off" your newly editted patch and return to it to see how it really sounds. YES,Without the [huge] manual you'll be playing and editing within Days. Reading the manual will close this to a couple of hours,to allow you to get good sounds.

Sound Quality : 8
Long and short of it =the Vintage,Blues,Carlos,Treble,Filter,Wah and a couple of other patches make this unit worth the #100 I paid, after editing. {cant add up] 7-14 usable effects- how much would you pay for 7 Boss pedals??

The cabinet sims are V good.all round sound quality is good and with suitable tweaks make the 490 [standard] Gibson bark somewhat more like PAFS and Epiphone and Strat copy pickups get nearer what they try and resemble. It even manages to make a really [REALLY] cheap strat copy sound adequate.

The whole thing with this unit is the word adequate.

Note that manufacturer are coming out with cheap multi fx units all the time and DSP is getting better year in. Korg is even treading on it's own toes with many new models so I can't give this a top rating.

Reliability : No Opinion
5 months no real trouble. Mains adapter jack a little sloppy.

Much better than a Zoom 505II. Expression pedal and a few good effects. You can get these for #80 here. Sampling switch needs a fucking elephant [or possibly two elephants fucking] to climb onto the end of the pedal to switch it on.

So I gave up on the [too short] sample loop in the end. It's capable of making the Gibson sound huge and other cheap guitars sound ok. You get used to it and can throw the manual aside [not away, aside] after a day or two. Yes, I'm a DUMBASS,both in a Fender Forum way and in a stewpeed way..

It is fantastic Value,but,9/10 because there are other units which *may* give YOU the edge in what YOU want to decide to sound like.Worth getting.

Other gear I have, currently,Cheapo strat copy,Modified Pacifica,Gibson "The Paul II",Epiphone Special,Fender Gemini II, Small Vox and Marshall amps,Zoom 505II, Home built "quarter screamer" pedals and amplification malarkey, soldering iron,"leftover" parts and spares..etc.

I've been playing 20+ years recently at Semi-pro level. Mostly i play becaus I love the sound of a good guitar, this pedal can help in that aim.

This unit is pretty easy to use but the manual could have been a bit better.

If people are having trouble with the loop and sample it's because what you need to do is push the expression pedal right the way to the top and then press it down, like you would on a wah pedal (this functionality is also in the wah and is quite useful).

Good for a patient beginners pedal, though at the beginner level you'd probably be better off with a cheaper multiFX without an expression pedal.

Sound Quality : 6
I've used this pedal with a Fender Strat, a Stagg Les Paul Custom, an Ibanez RG570 and a Washburn acoustic electric guitar, playing through a Crate GX120 and an 80W guitar amp which I can't identify and its sound is pretty mediocre.

The noise filter is ok although it does mean you get much less sustain when you play.

At the higher notes the sound begins to sound very weak and digitised but it's got a few brilliant effects for playing lower down the neck. You can get some fairly nice clean effects on it so it's pretty good for pop songs but it's not particularly suited to anything with solos, like Metallica.

There's a definate gap when you switch effects which is beginning to really get on my nerves, especially if you need an almost instant effect change.

You can't chain very many effects together, here's what you've got:

-Drive (2 per effect, as I've said before the overdrive channels are a bit weak at the high notes)
-Mod: Autowah, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Various "intelligent" pitch effects, Tremolo, Pan, Slow attack
-Pedal: Wah, Volume, Tremolo, Pan, Delay, Echo, Phaser (speed), Flanger (speed), Chorus (depth), Pitch bender (pretty weak), "Filter" (a low pass filter, doesn't sound particularly good), "Feedback" (sounds awful, but if you're having problems with the sustain it might be worth a try), Loop and Sample
-Amb: Delay, a few reverb effects which are OK...
-Cab: Various cabinet simulators which I can't really comment on, they don't seem to be anything special

So 4 or 5 effects maximum really and a lot of combinations can't be made.

The presets are quite varied in quality - some of them are really good to use as the basis for your effects but others are just completely useless and I could never see anybody in their right mind using them :)

Good tuner.

In conclusion the sound is good for the beginner but the more experienced played will want to get either a much better multiFX or just seperate effects.

Reliability : 8
One thing this pedal is is reliable. I've been using it for over a year now and I pretty much depend on it at the moment, though I'll be shopping for a new one soon. You can probably use it without backup, provided you use the power source (which I'm pretty sure was included), since batteries aren't particularly reliable, are they?

One problem I do occaisionally get is the names for some of my effects change randomly, but the actual effects don't seem to suffer.

Customer Support : 6
I contacted customer support about the loop/sample problem because I had it. They responded pretty quickly but didn't really know what to do about it, suggesting they take the pedal in to have a look at it. I get the impression this is a problem hey've probably heard of a lot but don't really understand. The manual should've explained it better :)

I chose not to send it off to them since I had a gig to play at in the near future and discovered later that I was the one with the problem and not the pedal.

Overall good response time but fairly limited help.

Overall Rating : 7
I play mostly rock intermixed with some funk and classical, fairly similar to Metallica's less heavy songs and some of Brian Adam's songs. It's probably a better match for people who want to play simpler music like Foo Fighters or Nirvana, since this pedal can't really handle anything too fancy.

I've been playing for about 4 years now and I've made a few bad buys in my time, including a Boss SD-1 which sounded NOTHING LIKE it did on the website, and the overdrive channel on the Crate GX-120 sounds awful, so I'd be at a loss without this pedal though I do intend to upgrade.

If it got stolen or lost I wouldn't buy it again, I'd just be pretty peeved that I didn't at least get the chance to try and sell it.

I chose this pedal (without trying it) because it was the cheapest one with an expression pedal, though you'll only really use the pedal for the wah or possibly the phaser, so don't get it just for that reason!

I don't really want to labour the point about the sound quality towards the high notes or the silence when changing effects but they really do let this pedal down.

As I've said before it's good for beginners but you should definately try before you buy! This applies to everything of course.

Good value for money, but you'd be better off spending more.

The sound is amazing! The editing patches are easy to use, but I found that the instruction manual was a little difficult to understand being that this was my first effects board. The loop function still won't run for me, it seems that the manual does not go deep enough into instructions on how to run the loop and sample effects, which is very disappointing considering that was one of the main reasons I purchased the unit.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm playing with a fender strat and marshall amp, and I have to say, other than the difficult loop function, the effects are great! The flanger and delay effect sound just like some 311 songs I enjoy playing. The feedback and fuzz effects aren't very appealing, but for the price you are paying, I think it's worth it.

Reliability : 7
It seems to be really well constructed, but I definetly would not use it on stage due to the fact that I can't even figure out how to get the loop function to work. The manual is like reading Chinese.

Customer Support : 1
I've tried getting in touch with the korg company to ask for some advice and technical support on the loop effect, but it seems too hard just to find a number or a support website that will help me with any questions about the product. Very disappointing!!

Overall Rating : 6
I play rock, blues, and heavy metal. I think that the AX100G is a pretty good match for what I play, since I've only been playing for about a year or so. I would never buy it again, simply because there are hardly any Korg dealers in my area, and the Korg company is worthless when it comes to technical support or questions about the product. I hate that the loop function does not work when I follow the instructions in the manual. I wish that it was a little easier to use considering I am a beginnner on the effect boards. But, it is a pretty good practice unit without the loop and sample functions I guess. But it still stings when I want to loop a great riff and come over the top with a nice chord progression when I can't cause' the instruction manual obviously doesn't take me through all of the steps correctly.

Easy to use out of the box. But to get the full potential from it you need a couple of hours to read the manual. Being that it is a multi-effects pedal there is alot to lean about. Has a foot pedal and three foot switches and a one of the best guitar tuners built in.

Sound Quality : 10
I play two guitars, a 19760Les Paul Custom with split coil pickups and a 20030American series Fender Fat Strat HSS Hot Rodded Series. The amp is a 1979 Mesa Boogie Mark IIa. I run it through the clean channel so I get the most combnations of sounds. The preset programs are alright but where this pedal shines is when you program in your own. I have set up the sounds of a Marshall stack, SRV Blues, Jimi Hendricks and some really nice clean sounds using chourus and the reverb settings. Through a high quality pure tube amp it REALLY SOUNDS GOOD!!. I also have a Create GFX-15 practice amp and it is not bad. But if your are using a cheap or crappy amp or a crappy guitar it can only do so much. I have a digital home recording studio and I use it straight throught the mixer and it sounds good too! Other distrotion effects that I have tried this way are noisy and the distortion is bright, harsh and breaks up. This one doesn't. Also has a output control so you can plug headphones into it a use it that way. If you don't have a amp plug it into a PA and play that way. Of course it doesn't sound as good but not bad.

Reliability : No Opinion
I had it a year with no problems.

I have been playing for over thirty years. I play a lot of different types of rock music and I get the sounds I need from it. I love the all the different amp types it has and how you can tweek them to suit your tastes. Works great directly into a mixer. My biggest complaint is it needs a on and off switch. I don't like having to unplug the guitar cord every time I have to turn it off.

The interface is quite well designed and intuitive. Most parameters are adjustable via real knobs. Good displays (two). I've marked it down to 7/10 because of the bloody awful footpedal. The FULL range of movement is less than one inch vertically at the top of the pedal which makes fine control almost impossible - FAR too coarse. Also as the unit is quite lightweight you have to be careful not to be 'heavy footed' with the pedal as you can easily rock the whole unit off the floor. Design fault:- The small switch under the footpedal tip (for starting recording etc) is set too low and you really have to either stand on it (and I mean STAND) or fix it yourself by glueing something extra lite a small square of plastic to the top of the switch. I have read lots of messages from people who have problems with the sample / recording functions that are purely down to this switch.

Sound Quality : 5
As someone who almost always plays clean sounds (a rarity it would seem these days), I find the only effects that get any use are the chorus (which isn't that good to be honest, a bit thin and weak and not really tweakable into anything better), the phaser - marginally better but the adjustments again let it down; you can hear the peaks of the phase sweeps more clearly than the rest of it, resulting in an almost 'pulsing' sound : _____/\__________/\___ rather than a nice progressive sweep. Flanger is ok, but nothing amazing. Reverbs are pretty good if limited in choice. I don't feel qualified to comment on the distortions as I don't use them, except to say that out of the 10 amp models available, a meagre two are provided for those of us who don't want to thrash and scream - and one of those is 'acoustic' ! So, for my particular purposes it was a poor choice of pedal. It's pretty quiet, switching is naturally silent, bypass doesn't seem to affect the tone. In terms of *useful* tones you can get from it, I'd say it takes a lot of tweaking and even then you get a feeling of 'close, but no cigar'. Some of the effects are a waste of space and do tend to add weight to my suspicion that a lot of the development was led by the marketing department - '12 million effects, 400 amp models, flashing lights !' and as a result there's a lot of junk in there to wade through (and dismiss) in order to get some good *useable* tones. I mean - who in their right mind thought ring modulation was a good tone shaping tool for a guitarist ??!!!!

Reliability : 9
Despite the plastic construction, it seems fairly bomb-proof. I've had a large drunk guy stumble and land on it, bang smack in the middle with his boot AND spilling beer on it and it doesn't show any signs of injury. It's not let me down so far (18 months). I do gig with it without a backup and I'm happy to do so.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them so I can't comment.

Overall Rating : 5
I play quite a bit of Jazz & Blues and after owning it for 18 months I'm seriously thinking of selling it. I'm sure it would sound marvellous if you are into metal and heavy distortion (and I get the feeling the designers had this type of music in mind over us oldies !), but for my use, it doesn't cut the mustard. Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible, there's a lot of stuff in there to play with, but it *is* biased toward distortion and weird fx rather than warm, fat quality tones. I need a small selection of GOOD tones that I can use live, not a hundred different types of distortions and alien noises to impress my mates with in the bedroom. In short, it's digital, and sounds it. I've played with it for hours and got some amazingly weird and wonderful noises from it, but very few are useful for a live environment and none of them give me a really good tone to inspire my practice sessions.

This is my first Multi Effect Pedal and I'm surprise that within 1 hour of usage, fiddling and reading the manual, I'm able to program and modify the thing. It couldn't get simplier. If you wanna change the ambience effect, just press the AMB button and use the 5 knobs to adjust according. the functions of the 5 buttons are clearly labelled on the board. And the values of the adjustment, such as depth and rate, are clearly shown on the electronic screen.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm currently using a PRS guitar with a marshall AVT20 at home. In church I use the Peavey Bandit 112 or the Fender Stage 100. Considering the money that I spent, the sounds that the unit produced are very good. I spent quite some time shopping for multi effect pedal, and I finally choose this unit. At first I was about to buy the Zooom GFX5, but it's a bit too noisy and the clean sound is not that good. I think AX100G really shine at the clean sound. Distortion wise, not bad, but for those used to using stompboxes, this may not be up to your standard, but they still sound good and very usable. Both the clean and distortion sound a bit digital, so I'm giving it a 9.

Reliability : 9
I read a lot of reviews on Harmony Central and it seem to me that a lot of reviewers will give a low Reliabilty if the unit is made of metal. I'm not sure what they do on stage, but I'm sure this unit, even though quite a lot of parts are plastic, are going to last for me. I'm not sure what they did to their pedals. Jump hard on it? Set it on fire. Throw it off the stage? I just catch no balls. :)

Customer Support : 4
Oh, I bought it from a local(Singapore) shop and the name was Peace Centre. The guy was David and oh, he's a snob. He is very unhelpful, even though he tried out the sound for me to listen, but when I try it, he refuse to help me, guide me or expalin the thing to me.

Overall Rating : 10
In a nutshell, I think for a unit in this price range, it is great! I use many good quality stompboxes, and I must say that AX100G sound is not very far away from some and it's more convenient than using stompboxes on stage, cause with one or two steps, you are on a different sound with a different setting.

i gotta give it a 10 because of the distortion programs... i sat for about 2 hours trying to find the right sound and i did. i play a les paul standard and i think that all the distortion/overdrive programs are really good, you people who think otherwise are just very impatient... you need to find this babie's golden sound. On the metal distortion program i get sounds like tool. on brit stack and us hi-gain i can get such good sound! you guys just need to mess around with it until it learns to accept you.
