Very easy to use.
Do not use it with cheap guitar! (china taiwan clones)
Do not use maximum gain!

It does not need upgrade. And you got enough user presets.
Very intuitive interface.

Sound Quality : 8
All distortion are very plastic.
Compressor is good. Chorus and phaser is ptretty.
Flanger is warm. Good wah wah.
I use it with YAMAHA EG112. Jolana PROXIMA JAZZ MASTER, Musima ETERNA DElUXE. And Also with Jolana Diamant BASS)))
I use it inline, with tube amp and with "nontube" amp)
Sound is good.
It is not noise) Do not use N.Reduction setup to 10.0!!!

Using the unit and tweaking the sound is a childs play ... have used its kid brother AX1G ... much better than that .. .much easier to use than Zoom505 ... and also some DOD processors which i have borrowed time and again ...
The use of knobs for the controls is very good ...
and cmon for that price it is the best deal ...

For the ease of use thing ... i lost the manual the day i bought it ... no need for the manual ... mebbe except on calibration of the expressions pedal ...

Sound Quality : 8
I use any guitar ... yeah keep changing 'em ... but the amp remains Marshall ... however i prefer to keep the Marshal on clean tone ... n get any kinda overdrive or dist from the FX ...

Some effect are good ... esp the Acoustic, Fat Dist, Classic Overdrive, US High gain and Brit stack ... US High gain sounds pretty much like a Mesa Boogie ... Brit stack - ofcourse the Marshall ...

The Fuzz and Metal are too thin ... Fuzz doesn't sound at all like the real Fuzz which Hendrix, Blackmore and Iommi used to play ...

Metal can be tweaked to get the Pantera kinda sound (so u can simulate the Randall) ...

but dunno how ta get the Peavy or Fender sound ...

Intelligent harmonizer is a killer ... gr8 for single lead player ... the pitch transposer .. like the one in RAGE preset is shit ... the shifted pitch has a delay and distortion ...
one cannot use some FX with others ...

Wah pedal is too much expressive ... good for Hendrix and Hammet kind ... but if u try for Zakk Wylde style ... it cannot reproduce the sound

The filter FX (the one which is there in DA'FUZZ) should be made available in the modulation cat also ... since if i put it on (which is in pedal) ... i cannot use any other pedal FX like Wah or phaser :(

Reliability : No Opinion
Till now hasn't broken down ...
However, if there is a power failure or fluctuations ... the presets which u have written tend to get corrupted ...

Customer Support : 1
Absolute shit in the Republic of India ...
once due to volatage fluctuation ruined the circuit ...
it took the fuckers (dealer) 3 months to get it repaired ...

Overall Rating : No Opinion
My styles are usually late 70-80's Metal/rock to todays Nu metal and grunge ... was able to emulate almost any one ... but not the Dave Gilmour ...

For the Blues and JAzz players ... ya can never get the same sound which u can by the tube amplifier ... but for the metal heads ... it is absolutely crappy concept to stick to the tubes ... gawd ... dont act like an ostrich ... stick yer head out to new things ... the solid state processors ROCK ...

Getting good sound takes a little amount of time and in the end i ended up using a couple of effects only. Editing is pretty straitforward and i could rely on the "manual" on the front in the beginning, but after a short while it becomes unnecessary too and you just turn the knobs. Actually if you want to quickly adjust things, sometimes it is a little irritating that the knob might not be in the position the effect says, so turning causes the unit to "jump" to effects. Otherwise you can very quickly tune it. FX-SEL is also a good feature i use fairly often. The manual would have needed a notch more work, but overall it was ok, since i didn't really need it and empirical exploration of the unit the first two days of so sufficed.

Sound Quality : 5
I use all the low price parts: Squier bullet guitar, Yamaha F20 Amp, yet i either use good headphones or occasionally a greater amp. The quality of the effects varies greatly. Playing punk music is fairly easy on this effect... however that's not my style, so it requires an effort to get Floydian sounds out of it. Distortion is average, sometimes below average, nothing to backflip at for sure. Echo and delay is quite good. Wah is good for doodling about, but if you listen to any normal wah-pedals at work, you realize how crappy it sounds. Pitch shifter is by no question the lousiest effect in the pack, makes the guitar sound like it was in a cartoon and though the pitch is shifted, the distortion to the sound makes it useless. As for the other effects, and amp modelling... well, i don't use them, because i found the worthless (or not worth the time required to adjust)

Drum patches are average, you can use them to vamp around and practice, but nothing great. Maybe not meant to either.

Reliability : 8
I can depend on the unit. That's mostly because i don't have the cash (or the cash i want to invest in this area) to buy a better unit. But actually though there are problems, i have gigged with it several times without problems and use it on a daily basis. The only problem i found is that the adapter sometimes gets disconnected even without moving the unit causing it to "black-out" and only reconnecting the plug solves it. Otherwise i push it hard, step on it... ok, never jumped or threw it... and it holds together quite good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with it. For the price, it is very durable.

Overall Rating : 7
I play psychedelic rock, Pink Floyd, i am sometimes in a jazzy mood. The unit is not really that suitable for me, because the subtlety required for this kind of music somehow gets lost in the effects. Nevertheless the short number of effects i tuned for myself makes the play interesting enough not to throw the pad in the corner.
Yet, if stolen, i wouldn't buy one again, just save the money to buy a bigger-and-better effect.
I love that it was cheap and for the price near the best effect in its category, but i hate its limitations.

Sound is good if your into progressive, church, or old school metal. BUT the sounds produce in the ax100 are very old and thin, the WAH was so thin it sounded like a crying kitten instead of a cow......
It's great for the mellow ones

WEAK! WEAK! WEAK! WEAK! Sound on stage is soooo weak!!!! (i have a ibanez with a sh-4 duncan pick-ups) My lead guitarist is way louder than me????? (his effects was a zoom)

In short, IT AINT GOT NO BALLS

Reliability : 1
dammit this fukkin sucks!!!!! Especially when your in a gig!!!! YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES AND STEP ON IT VERY GENTLY SO THAT YOU WONT GO WAAAAYYYYY OVER THE OTHER BANKS!!!! And the power supply is kinda loose, that when you step on it, it gets unplug easily, very bad (especially on gigs). And within a month upon purchase my ax100 hangs up when i switch to the bank ROCK!!! And when you use and abuse the pedal for wah and pitch octave, it always just die when youe in the middle of the song, WHAT's UP WITH THAT!!!! BUY SINGLE PEDALS AND A DIGITECH WHAMMY!!! and the digitech's rp series pedals are NOT reliable either.

i went back to my heavy pain in the back single effects with a whammy, it's a pain but at least it gets the job done

I found this a bit daunting at first, since the manual describes how to use it so poorly. Fact is it is actually very simple to use, just press the white button of the 'effect' you want to use ( such as amp, mod, pedal, cabinet, noise reduction, delay/reverb etc) and use the knobs up the top to modify that effect, then press another white button and do it with another aspect. The only annoying thing about using it is that there is no on/off switch, so to turn the thing on you have to plug the jack in (i use an external power source, it chews through (cheap) batteries)

Sound Quality : 9
I use this with a godin SD (very nice) and a marshall md 15 CD (crap). Out of the box, it has a pretty unremarkable sound. If you spend the time to fiddle around, and go on the net to get some good patches, this actually produces some very good sounds, and you can get an excellent tone from it as well. The drive amps are mostly pretty good, with the US hi gain and the Brit Stack and Tube OD stand out. The excellent thing about this pedal is that you can get such a great variety of quality sounds if you put in the time. I once ran out of batteries and had to plug my guitar straight into the marshall, and it sounded CRAP! You get really used to having some nice sounds.

The effects are a mixed bag. The Pitch effects sound absolutely crap, and are extremely useless to me, a musically untrained person. I cannot see anyone getting a nice sound out of these. However, effects such as the filter (this is great!), tremelo, chorus, flanger, phaser, are all really good. The only bad thing about these is that sometimes you can't mix certain pedal effects with certain mods eg a wah on the pedal with a phaser as the mod. With enough tweaking you can get some extremely freaky ;) sounds out of it though. I found that some effects work better with certain amp models, but each to his/her own.

Reliability : 7
THis is plastic. It is not a stomp box, and i'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to jump on it too hard. I've had it for a year and it has been really good, except one time the memory wiped itself for no reason. I would use this at a gig just for the sounds, but yeah i wouldn't jump on it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any worries

Overall Rating : 9
Overall this is a versatile, useful, cheap pedal that i am extremely grateful i bought. The presets suck, but a good sound can be acheived. I got some good (and shit) patches from the user group so you might like try those. My friend has a more expensive Digitech multiple amp modeller thing and this craps all over it ;) If it was stolen, i would probably get the model up from this (an AX1500G) because nowadays i have seen it being sold for the same price i got the AX100G. I would strongly recommend this to anyone with a solid state amp and a fondness of variety.

Very easy to get pleasing results with this multi, its easy to work out. Editing is really quick and easy, the displays are good and fuctional(and YES, you can see what you're doing in the dark! great) I found the manual adequate, but no more then that, reads a bit like an afterthought, but its nice to have one though

Sound Quality : 10
The Korg sits between an early Yamaha Pacifica strat (modded DiMarzio, a vintage Ibanez PQ parametric EQ stompbox (my secret weapon) and a Laney all valve LC15 R, modest but great sounding little setup, The AX is a bit noisy, a bit, just dick around with the master volume and patch volumes and amp settings, its not that bad, The sounds you can ghet out of this plastic box are actually coolio . Good convincing sounds, pretty clever layout, within evry patch you have cntrol over 2 independant drive settings, pedal 2 takesthe modulation and/or reverbs and delay in and out and then you still have the very useful pedal to play with! excellent. The sound quality is very much more then good nough for such a cheap and versitile processor. You get a lot of good solid sounds, mucho realtime control with the exprerssion pedal. Keeping in mind of courese that this thing is emulating the real deal, it is not iself the real deal of course, but fo the price you pay for them now secondhand they are surely a good and handy buy

Reliability : 7
Mmmmmyessss, here we go, well....its plasic, need i say more? To be honest, it actually feels quite sturdy ,t has a metal baseplate the plastic ued seems pretty tough, the pedal feels pleasingly firm, thats ok, but the editing rotary knobs, although somwhat recessed feel wobbly and flimsy, they would NOT put up with a boot hitting them sideways fr instance, so...rotaries crap, but they work well enough, the rest is fine, just dont be an idiot with it. Tis is all sensitive gear, so treat it with care and dont do silly things. If i had a decent backup i would bring one, just in case. But the switches feel good too, the pedal is cool and sturdy...you shouldnt have too many probs with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
bought it secondhand still under warranty so if it conks out between now and 5 month we shall find out...

Overall Rating : 10
I play rock and some funk and some other stuff, been an amateur for 15 years, and still love it. I wanted something versitile and good sounding and compact, this is more then good enough. If I lost it I would get another one, for sure. T sounds good enough to me, and i dont have much money, so this thing is ideal really. For 90 euros I think iI had a decent buy. I heard some Zoom multies in the past and they were terrible, but this thing seems far above that for some reason. The expression pedal is a favourite feature(you gotta love those 6 l.e.d's next to the pedal as they race up the face of the unit!), 2 drive settings in 1patch is VERY useful. Clever that. What isnt so clever is that compression is only available as an amp madel (??????) and not as an effect by itself, very strange....ALSO, an this i found a shocker...you cant use delay and reverb together, which is SHIT Mr Korg!!! It really is! I mean, come on...in this day and age...no reverb + delay together??? And it does not come with a power supply funny enough, so if you buy an AX100 secondhand dont be surprised if you dont get one with it, but its a standard 9 v jobbie, so power is no problem. I tried loading one up with fresh duracell penlights, firstly i could NOT get the batteries to sit right, and the unit refused to switch on. So, if you plan on using batteries..CHECK THIS ISSUE OUT

Fairly easy to use. It does take some getting used to. The manual is very skimpy and does nothing to explain what tone really is. The LED readout is nice, but the series of LEDs for the effects is heard to read unleas it is 6 inches from your face. It does not come with an AC adaptor.

Sound Quality : 6
I play a 335 Dot through a Marshall tube amp. It is somewhat noisy, but not any more than any other pedal or effects box, maybe a little quieter. Some are extremely noisy, you can hear the effect while not playing. Modulation effects are weak, especially chorus. I usually leave the "drive amp" switch off. I hate most of the sounds it tries to model. The distortion sounds are way too loud, too much bass, and have a delay or reverb added. Why? I would rather set those myself, which I did on all 40 presets. I like the jazz preset, that's about it. The rest are in serious need of EQ, which I did, plus dial out the distortion. The Santana preset is cool sounding, but it not make your Ibanez sound like a PRS. I never use the wah/volume pedal for anything, it's too small for my foot. The up/down footswitches are too far apart. Who has a foot that big? It takes forever to get back to bypass, which is not really a true bypass. I lose a lot of bass just plugging this thing in on the bypass mode. The Hi/Lo switch on the back panel functions the opposite of the way it should. Some one screwed up here. I use humbuckers and have the switch set to "H" (for high) and I lose about 30% of my sound. I set it "L" for low (single coils) and I expect a boost. Instead, it cuts put about 50% of the volume with no bass, just treble. Like I said, I dialed in all my presets using the tone/gain controls on this thing. Weird. If you want a plastic-sounding fuzz-box, this is your ticket. If you want a tube sound, buy a tube amp. The Tube OD sound does sound a lot like my tube screamer, I will admit. Other than that, I can not recognize any of the drive amp sounds. Noise gate works, but it basically is just gating it's own noise, won't help with a noisy soild-state amp. I have my own sounds and don't need to mimick others. If you want to do that, you should look elsewhere. The most useful feature I've found is the harmonizer. Basically a pitch-shifter that allows you to play harmony in a given key, very nice. You can also set it 24 steps (two octives) up or down in half-step increments. Very nice.

Reliability : 5
I would never gig with this. Shame on you if you use this to gig. Buy dedicated pedals! The output jack on mine fell off the first time I used it out of the box. It's all plastic and it's discontinued.

Customer Support : 1
I tried to get the adaptor, but since it's discontinued, they don't make it anymore.

Overall Rating : 5
I play blues/jazz/rock/Punk-fusion-new-age/death metal/Christian contemporary-Gospel/Old school/Rap/classical/Latin/Disco/Country/Pop. I have been playing 40 years. I have owned every brand guitar and amp ever made. I have to use the AC adaptor from one of my effects pedals to use this. It kinda gets in my way, it's a pain in the ass to use. It makes a great fuzz box. I'm a tube geezer and this will not give you a tube sound. My $0.02 = save your money a buy a tube amp with a master volume control, a switchable lead channel and reverb! Crank the master volume up to saturate the power tubes, and dial in your gain, You will have a much better sound than any modeling effects or modeling amp. This thing just re-creates a few tone stacks and adds huge amounts of gain, which produces it's own noise. Modulation effects (such as chorus) are best left to dedicated pedal, but you alrwady know all this. Not bad for $99. Mine collects a lot of dust.
I only use the jazz preset and the harmonizer - that's it!

It was very easy to use. At first i thought it was going to hard to assign the effects into each prgramme, but it was very easy - there's a button for each area of effect - Drive Amp, Modulation, Cambinet, Ambience which u can assign to your programe, while ajusting the effect type and volume with the knobs. I also liked the way you could change the volumes of each programme you made, which means that when a solo comes up, you can change to a louder programme. One thing that no-one mentioned was the drum machine, which is wicked - a great practice tool (especailly with the metranome).

Sound Quality : 8
After reading other reviews i was expecting some of the drive amps to be poor, but in my opinion there are all amazing, from the Metal to the Classic distortion. For example i can easly replicate the sound of Iron Maiden (US High gain drive)), or Metallica (Metal drive) (with abit of tweaking or course). I was also really happy with the wah pedal, which was very good, with distorted or clean sounds, its even better than one i already owned. The only thing that was a little diopointing was the clean channel. The classic comp is really good for chorusy clean stuff, but the acoustic clean channel isn't that good (my Marshall Mg30 amp is much better).

this thing gets u good distortion out of power chords and does great solo sounds with the sustainer , but the original sound in many effects remains heard, that is a problem in some effects like pitch shifter and flanger , and not a problem in harmonist and chorus.

I KNOW THAT EVERY UNIT HAS ITS IMPERFECTIONS , SIO ONE MUST KNOW WHTA EACXH UNIT'S IMPERFECTIONS ARE SO HEWRE ARE THE AX100G'S IMPERFECTIONS:
i noticed lots of imperfections in the ax100g, theyre driving me mad.
the mix option is crap.it ruined the pitch shifter , u cannot get the pitch shift alone without hearing the original sound.ok so thats a harmonist, then they should write on the website of ax100g that it has NO pitch shifter and that it has a harmonist , although the harmonist has defects too, its artificial notes that are modified to fit in the scale tremble(alternate between the original added note(out of the scale) and the modified added note).
the phaser and flanger sounds are added to the original sound and not the oriiginal sound altered, so that somehow sounds not right.the major imperfection is that rough inevidable transition. though i noticed it got smoother when it worked on batteries.there are more defects but thats what i remebered for now . please tell me im wrong or that there is a solution to my problem.if only the mix knob would eliminate the original sound when turned to the max, most of the problem would be solved.

I don't really understand the trouble people have using this unit. It's easier than controlling my tv I can tell you. All the changes are done with simple turning of pots. To me it explains itself. I'm used to multieffects where you scroll through hidden menues. No such thing here.

Sound Quality : 6
Here I have one of my biggest complaints. All sounds lack treble. Even though all my patches have the highs turned to 10 it's still muddy. The other guitarist in my band uses a Line6 pod and sounds way clearer than me. Otherwise the sounds are very good for the price. As said by others, it sucks that you can't combine more effects. Usually you end up with an amp and a modulation effect. I have solved this by using my old Boss ME6 multieffectsunit chained after the AX100G. The ME6 provides the highs and the delays/reverbs. The AX100G provides the amps and the modulationeffects. At the price you get a lot to choose from. I mostly use the pitchshifter and the tremolo. Be careful not to use extreme settings(one octave and more) on the pitcheffects. They rarely are in tune, and you end up with an unwanted(unmusical) vibrato. Look at this product as a first possibility to try out a lot of effects. Then by a real unit that have the effects you like and do them properly. At beginnerlevel the AX100G fullfils your every need. The amps are the best. I tried out several cheap multieffects(such as the zoom 505II), and the AX100G by far the best. It even handles semidistorted sounds really nice. Light tube-breakup is easy to recreate.

Reliability : 3
My AX100G broke up at the first gig I used it. The ampswitch went nuts and started to switch amps in the middle of songs. This was because I must have accidently hit it pcking it down or something. The trick is to choose the "fat dist" amp. Thereby the switch is straight and steady. The problem occured a few times after the gig, but it has worked nicely otherwise. I have not had any problems with the pedals at all. They do the job nicely. The unit is lightweight and you pin it to the ground if you want it to stay put.

Customer Support : 2
I have had nothing to do with KORG. Their homepage gives you no information at all. It seems that the Pandora-units are more i focus there sadly.

Overall Rating : 6
I play rock/pop. I like the fact that you can choose distortion-clones as well as amp-clones. All equipment these days seem so amp-oriented. The dist-boxes gives you a unique and cool sound. Not just Angus Young-marshall or Linkin Park-mesa. It's like a buffe where you get to try different sounds out. It does none of them perfect, but hey it's almost a giveaway for the price. By the AX100G to learn which effects you like, and then by a real multieffect that has these. I for one learned that i couldn't live without the pitcheffects and simulated distortionboxes for example. I'm glad I didn't by a amp-simulator, because they often lack both these effects.

I also own a Zoom 505 II,which I used to think adequate .It's not. This unit is.The Korg is both easier and more difficult to use as the amp model,"eq" and levels are adjustable on the fly, but, *within* a [eg] chorus or delay patch you have to use the same eq pots to trim out the time and delay THEN save the patch again THEN return your eq to standard position...THEN [for preference] select "off" your newly editted patch and return to it to see how it really sounds. YES,Without the [huge] manual you'll be playing and editing within Days. Reading the manual will close this to a couple of hours,to allow you to get good sounds.

Sound Quality : 8
Long and short of it =the Vintage,Blues,Carlos,Treble,Filter,Wah and a couple of other patches make this unit worth the #100 I paid, after editing. {cant add up] 7-14 usable effects- how much would you pay for 7 Boss pedals??

The cabinet sims are V good.all round sound quality is good and with suitable tweaks make the 490 [standard] Gibson bark somewhat more like PAFS and Epiphone and Strat copy pickups get nearer what they try and resemble. It even manages to make a really [REALLY] cheap strat copy sound adequate.

The whole thing with this unit is the word adequate.

Note that manufacturer are coming out with cheap multi fx units all the time and DSP is getting better year in. Korg is even treading on it's own toes with many new models so I can't give this a top rating.

5 months no real trouble. Mains adapter jack a little sloppy.

Much better than a Zoom 505II. Expression pedal and a few good effects. You can get these for #80 here. Sampling switch needs a fucking elephant [or possibly two elephants fucking] to climb onto the end of the pedal to switch it on.

So I gave up on the [too short] sample loop in the end. It's capable of making the Gibson sound huge and other cheap guitars sound ok. You get used to it and can throw the manual aside [not away, aside] after a day or two. Yes, I'm a DUMBASS,both in a Fender Forum way and in a stewpeed way..

It is fantastic Value,but,9/10 because there are other units which *may* give YOU the edge in what YOU want to decide to sound like.Worth getting.

Other gear I have, currently,Cheapo strat copy,Modified Pacifica,Gibson "The Paul II",Epiphone Special,Fender Gemini II, Small Vox and Marshall amps,Zoom 505II, Home built "quarter screamer" pedals and amplification malarkey, soldering iron,"leftover" parts and spares..etc.

I've been playing 20+ years recently at Semi-pro level. Mostly i play becaus I love the sound of a good guitar, this pedal can help in that aim.

This unit is pretty easy to use but the manual could have been a bit better.

If people are having trouble with the loop and sample it's because what you need to do is push the expression pedal right the way to the top and then press it down, like you would on a wah pedal (this functionality is also in the wah and is quite useful).

Good for a patient beginners pedal, though at the beginner level you'd probably be better off with a cheaper multiFX without an expression pedal.

Sound Quality : 6
I've used this pedal with a Fender Strat, a Stagg Les Paul Custom, an Ibanez RG570 and a Washburn acoustic electric guitar, playing through a Crate GX120 and an 80W guitar amp which I can't identify and its sound is pretty mediocre.

The noise filter is ok although it does mean you get much less sustain when you play.

At the higher notes the sound begins to sound very weak and digitised but it's got a few brilliant effects for playing lower down the neck. You can get some fairly nice clean effects on it so it's pretty good for pop songs but it's not particularly suited to anything with solos, like Metallica.

There's a definate gap when you switch effects which is beginning to really get on my nerves, especially if you need an almost instant effect change.

You can't chain very many effects together, here's what you've got:

-Drive (2 per effect, as I've said before the overdrive channels are a bit weak at the high notes)
-Mod: Autowah, Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Various "intelligent" pitch effects, Tremolo, Pan, Slow attack
-Pedal: Wah, Volume, Tremolo, Pan, Delay, Echo, Phaser (speed), Flanger (speed), Chorus (depth), Pitch bender (pretty weak), "Filter" (a low pass filter, doesn't sound particularly good), "Feedback" (sounds awful, but if you're having problems with the sustain it might be worth a try), Loop and Sample
-Amb: Delay, a few reverb effects which are OK...
-Cab: Various cabinet simulators which I can't really comment on, they don't seem to be anything special

So 4 or 5 effects maximum really and a lot of combinations can't be made.

The presets are quite varied in quality - some of them are really good to use as the basis for your effects but others are just completely useless and I could never see anybody in their right mind using them :)

Good tuner.

In conclusion the sound is good for the beginner but the more experienced played will want to get either a much better multiFX or just seperate effects.

Reliability : 8
One thing this pedal is is reliable. I've been using it for over a year now and I pretty much depend on it at the moment, though I'll be shopping for a new one soon. You can probably use it without backup, provided you use the power source (which I'm pretty sure was included), since batteries aren't particularly reliable, are they?

One problem I do occaisionally get is the names for some of my effects change randomly, but the actual effects don't seem to suffer.

Customer Support : 6
I contacted customer support about the loop/sample problem because I had it. They responded pretty quickly but didn't really know what to do about it, suggesting they take the pedal in to have a look at it. I get the impression this is a problem hey've probably heard of a lot but don't really understand. The manual should've explained it better :)

I chose not to send it off to them since I had a gig to play at in the near future and discovered later that I was the one with the problem and not the pedal.

Overall good response time but fairly limited help.

Overall Rating : 7
I play mostly rock intermixed with some funk and classical, fairly similar to Metallica's less heavy songs and some of Brian Adam's songs. It's probably a better match for people who want to play simpler music like Foo Fighters or Nirvana, since this pedal can't really handle anything too fancy.

I've been playing for about 4 years now and I've made a few bad buys in my time, including a Boss SD-1 which sounded NOTHING LIKE it did on the website, and the overdrive channel on the Crate GX-120 sounds awful, so I'd be at a loss without this pedal though I do intend to upgrade.

If it got stolen or lost I wouldn't buy it again, I'd just be pretty peeved that I didn't at least get the chance to try and sell it.

I chose this pedal (without trying it) because it was the cheapest one with an expression pedal, though you'll only really use the pedal for the wah or possibly the phaser, so don't get it just for that reason!

I don't really want to labour the point about the sound quality towards the high notes or the silence when changing effects but they really do let this pedal down.

As I've said before it's good for beginners but you should definately try before you buy! This applies to everything of course.

Good value for money, but you'd be better off spending more.

The sound is amazing! The editing patches are easy to use, but I found that the instruction manual was a little difficult to understand being that this was my first effects board. The loop function still won't run for me, it seems that the manual does not go deep enough into instructions on how to run the loop and sample effects, which is very disappointing considering that was one of the main reasons I purchased the unit.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm playing with a fender strat and marshall amp, and I have to say, other than the difficult loop function, the effects are great! The flanger and delay effect sound just like some 311 songs I enjoy playing. The feedback and fuzz effects aren't very appealing, but for the price you are paying, I think it's worth it.

Reliability : 7
It seems to be really well constructed, but I definetly would not use it on stage due to the fact that I can't even figure out how to get the loop function to work. The manual is like reading Chinese.

Customer Support : 1
I've tried getting in touch with the korg company to ask for some advice and technical support on the loop effect, but it seems too hard just to find a number or a support website that will help me with any questions about the product. Very disappointing!!

Overall Rating : 6
I play rock, blues, and heavy metal. I think that the AX100G is a pretty good match for what I play, since I've only been playing for about a year or so. I would never buy it again, simply because there are hardly any Korg dealers in my area, and the Korg company is worthless when it comes to technical support or questions about the product. I hate that the loop function does not work when I follow the instructions in the manual. I wish that it was a little easier to use considering I am a beginnner on the effect boards. But, it is a pretty good practice unit without the loop and sample functions I guess. But it still stings when I want to loop a great riff and come over the top with a nice chord progression when I can't cause' the instruction manual obviously doesn't take me through all of the steps correctly.

Easy to use out of the box. But to get the full potential from it you need a couple of hours to read the manual. Being that it is a multi-effects pedal there is alot to lean about. Has a foot pedal and three foot switches and a one of the best guitar tuners built in.

Sound Quality : 10
I play two guitars, a 19760Les Paul Custom with split coil pickups and a 20030American series Fender Fat Strat HSS Hot Rodded Series. The amp is a 1979 Mesa Boogie Mark IIa. I run it through the clean channel so I get the most combnations of sounds. The preset programs are alright but where this pedal shines is when you program in your own. I have set up the sounds of a Marshall stack, SRV Blues, Jimi Hendricks and some really nice clean sounds using chourus and the reverb settings. Through a high quality pure tube amp it REALLY SOUNDS GOOD!!. I also have a Create GFX-15 practice amp and it is not bad. But if your are using a cheap or crappy amp or a crappy guitar it can only do so much. I have a digital home recording studio and I use it straight throught the mixer and it sounds good too! Other distrotion effects that I have tried this way are noisy and the distortion is bright, harsh and breaks up. This one doesn't. Also has a output control so you can plug headphones into it a use it that way. If you don't have a amp plug it into a PA and play that way. Of course it doesn't sound as good but not bad.

Reliability : No Opinion
I had it a year with no problems.

I have been playing for over thirty years. I play a lot of different types of rock music and I get the sounds I need from it. I love the all the different amp types it has and how you can tweek them to suit your tastes. Works great directly into a mixer. My biggest complaint is it needs a on and off switch. I don't like having to unplug the guitar cord every time I have to turn it off.

The interface is quite well designed and intuitive. Most parameters are adjustable via real knobs. Good displays (two). I've marked it down to 7/10 because of the bloody awful footpedal. The FULL range of movement is less than one inch vertically at the top of the pedal which makes fine control almost impossible - FAR too coarse. Also as the unit is quite lightweight you have to be careful not to be 'heavy footed' with the pedal as you can easily rock the whole unit off the floor. Design fault:- The small switch under the footpedal tip (for starting recording etc) is set too low and you really have to either stand on it (and I mean STAND) or fix it yourself by glueing something extra lite a small square of plastic to the top of the switch. I have read lots of messages from people who have problems with the sample / recording functions that are purely down to this switch.

Sound Quality : 5
As someone who almost always plays clean sounds (a rarity it would seem these days), I find the only effects that get any use are the chorus (which isn't that good to be honest, a bit thin and weak and not really tweakable into anything better), the phaser - marginally better but the adjustments again let it down; you can hear the peaks of the phase sweeps more clearly than the rest of it, resulting in an almost 'pulsing' sound : _____/\__________/\___ rather than a nice progressive sweep. Flanger is ok, but nothing amazing. Reverbs are pretty good if limited in choice. I don't feel qualified to comment on the distortions as I don't use them, except to say that out of the 10 amp models available, a meagre two are provided for those of us who don't want to thrash and scream - and one of those is 'acoustic' ! So, for my particular purposes it was a poor choice of pedal. It's pretty quiet, switching is naturally silent, bypass doesn't seem to affect the tone. In terms of *useful* tones you can get from it, I'd say it takes a lot of tweaking and even then you get a feeling of 'close, but no cigar'. Some of the effects are a waste of space and do tend to add weight to my suspicion that a lot of the development was led by the marketing department - '12 million effects, 400 amp models, flashing lights !' and as a result there's a lot of junk in there to wade through (and dismiss) in order to get some good *useable* tones. I mean - who in their right mind thought ring modulation was a good tone shaping tool for a guitarist ??!!!!

Reliability : 9
Despite the plastic construction, it seems fairly bomb-proof. I've had a large drunk guy stumble and land on it, bang smack in the middle with his boot AND spilling beer on it and it doesn't show any signs of injury. It's not let me down so far (18 months). I do gig with it without a backup and I'm happy to do so.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them so I can't comment.

Overall Rating : 5
I play quite a bit of Jazz & Blues and after owning it for 18 months I'm seriously thinking of selling it. I'm sure it would sound marvellous if you are into metal and heavy distortion (and I get the feeling the designers had this type of music in mind over us oldies !), but for my use, it doesn't cut the mustard. Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible, there's a lot of stuff in there to play with, but it *is* biased toward distortion and weird fx rather than warm, fat quality tones. I need a small selection of GOOD tones that I can use live, not a hundred different types of distortions and alien noises to impress my mates with in the bedroom. In short, it's digital, and sounds it. I've played with it for hours and got some amazingly weird and wonderful noises from it, but very few are useful for a live environment and none of them give me a really good tone to inspire my practice sessions.

This is my first Multi Effect Pedal and I'm surprise that within 1 hour of usage, fiddling and reading the manual, I'm able to program and modify the thing. It couldn't get simplier. If you wanna change the ambience effect, just press the AMB button and use the 5 knobs to adjust according. the functions of the 5 buttons are clearly labelled on the board. And the values of the adjustment, such as depth and rate, are clearly shown on the electronic screen.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm currently using a PRS guitar with a marshall AVT20 at home. In church I use the Peavey Bandit 112 or the Fender Stage 100. Considering the money that I spent, the sounds that the unit produced are very good. I spent quite some time shopping for multi effect pedal, and I finally choose this unit. At first I was about to buy the Zooom GFX5, but it's a bit too noisy and the clean sound is not that good. I think AX100G really shine at the clean sound. Distortion wise, not bad, but for those used to using stompboxes, this may not be up to your standard, but they still sound good and very usable. Both the clean and distortion sound a bit digital, so I'm giving it a 9.

Reliability : 9
I read a lot of reviews on Harmony Central and it seem to me that a lot of reviewers will give a low Reliabilty if the unit is made of metal. I'm not sure what they do on stage, but I'm sure this unit, even though quite a lot of parts are plastic, are going to last for me. I'm not sure what they did to their pedals. Jump hard on it? Set it on fire. Throw it off the stage? I just catch no balls. :)

Customer Support : 4
Oh, I bought it from a local(Singapore) shop and the name was Peace Centre. The guy was David and oh, he's a snob. He is very unhelpful, even though he tried out the sound for me to listen, but when I try it, he refuse to help me, guide me or expalin the thing to me.

Overall Rating : 10
In a nutshell, I think for a unit in this price range, it is great! I use many good quality stompboxes, and I must say that AX100G sound is not very far away from some and it's more convenient than using stompboxes on stage, cause with one or two steps, you are on a different sound with a different setting.

I also own a Digitech RP100 (which is for sale) and the Korg works as easy as the RP. Without the manual you'll be playing and editing within 2 hours. Reading the manual will shorten it by one hour.

Sound Quality : 8
I use the Korg with my Squier Strat (MIJ mid 80's) and my Epi LP with Seymour Duncan pups. My amp is a Laney LC15 all tube amp.
The presets on the AX100G all sound horrible with one or two exceptions. It takes some tweaking before they sound good.

The amp simulations are acceptable. On the RP100 they did sound a little bit better (default) and brighter, but the Korg does produce some wonderfull sounds. It takes more tweaking to make the amps sound convincing but in the end they sound more realistic than on the RP (not too digital).

The cabinet sims are excellent! On the RP they sounded muffled but the Korg it makes the sound come alive.

Most of the effects are good too. Chorus, flanger etc sound very good and so do most of the reverbs. The delay however sounds like crap.
The wah really surprised me! I did not expect it to sound as good as it does because on the RP it sounded very bad. It responds good to the pedal. One thing I miss is a way to delete the unnecessary effects like Ringmodulation... who would ever use that?

So far I've tried to get the sounds of three of my favorite guitarists (SRV, Santana and Gary Moore). SRV was quite difficult to get right. This patch still misses some brightness and will need some more tweaking. Gary Moore was easier and sounds very good. The Carlos Santana sound I got with the amp sim set to heavy metal and turning the gain way down. This gave me the perfect "Samba Pa Ti" sound that I was unable to get on my RP100. This is propably the closest I will ever get with my gear trying to emulate any guitar hero and brings a smile to my face every time I select this patch.

Is the AX100G noisy? Only on high gain sounds but that is kinda normal on any device. Real amps tend to produce noise on those settings too. The noise reduction on this device is acceptable, not brilliant.

Reliability : 8
Although it is made of plastic it is quite strong. I don't think it will last if you do a lot of gigging but I don't do gigs...
I use it as a practicing tool in my living room and for that it is strong enough.

I bought this to replace my RP100 that I bought for headset practicing. Although it sounded good enough for me I bought the Korg. The RP100 does not have a CD input and I like to play along with CD's. For this the AX100G is a very good tool. It does have a lot more features than the RP100 and it sounds as good as and sometimes better.

If stolen or lost I think I'll buy it again if I could find another used one.

The AX100 has really nice sound and some awesome effects I hadn't heard elsewhere. I didn't have to read the whole manual to operate unit which is a blessing as I think I suffer from ADD. Just press the button by the effect type and tweak using the knobs, hit write once check location and hit write once more and it's stored. Much easier than that Digitank junk Mayan code.

Tom Anderson Classic gtr, AX100 and a real '57 twead Fender Deluxe are my rigs other components. I have some favorite simple classic FX, but I'll step out with some more ellaborate FX too like the intelligent pitch shifter, feed-backer, filter and slow attack.
I play in a funk/ nu-metal/ rock/ jazz group with keys, bass, drums & sax. Material and influences from Tower of Power, J. Brown, STP, Steely Dan And Whitesnake.
The distortions, compression, phase shifter, chorus/ flng, delays and reverbs are amazing compared to Digitech's RP series.
Gain structure and noise reduction are easy to understand and use on this unit, I've never had any noise generated by the proccessor.
2 programable drive and EQ setting per program... neat.

Reliability : 10

I don't want to play dry all night, I gotta have sounds, the AX100 is a really fine sounding little box.
I have incorperated some of this boxes tricks (feed-backer & intlgnt ptch shft) so I'd have to buy another unit if it is stolen.
The cable router is brilliant, this keeps my cable free from the exp pedal, also an LED display next to the exp shows the current exp pdl's position. Phrase looper is handy even if it is just 6 or 8 seconds, backward gtr is cool.
I compared to Digitech which I've owned before, Digitech's RP series besides lacking the AX100's features, lacked "TONE" brittle and hard, though it did have a metal chasis. Roland / Boss had the ME-30 or 33 at the time, it just didn't seem as easy or sound any better for more $.
The rhythm patterns sound better than the competitors.

you've gotta pay attention to the manual when you try to understand all the capabilities of this device! that means slowly and systematically read from page 1 to the end with the device in hand (under foot)...it's reasonably complicated and challenging to figure out, but gratifying when you do know all the features

Sound Quality : 9
there are obviously alot of sounds here...primarily i bought this to use for the sound effects in a shakespeare play (worked nicely for that, especially the ring modulator with the pedal)...this device is similiar to the digitech rp100 in most of its features except that it seems like the rp100 overall has more treble response (clarity, presence?) and a few more and better rock drum patterns, but then doesn't have the feedbacker, backwards guitar sound, or the 8 ro 16 second endless loop sound sampling capability which you can play over (if you use these features)...the feedbacker is kind of cool, but i doubt whether you'll use this much after you satisfy your curiosity upon hearing it (there's a slight delay before a hit note sustains and then begins feedbacking)...as a beginning intro to the world of guitar effects, you probably can't go wrong with one of these, but in short time you'll find that you really prefer to only use one or two effects anyway, hence the natural evolution (devolution?) to a few, choice stompboxes

Reliability : 7
only had it a short time...i don't think it's gig-worthy though...plastic constuction looks and feels reasonably durable playing in your bedroom with your shoes off, but not for stage use...pedals are too small anyway

I haven't experienced any really bad hissing or humming sounds. some effects are useless, others i couldn't live without. I really like the 'Priest' distortion. The wah is very nice. good phaser, phlanger. chorus is decent, i use the one on my amp. I don't like the Acoustic Simulator. the 'vintage' setting gives a nice light distortion in my opinion. I can't get the loop/sample function to work, but apparently it can be easly fixed by the looks of the other reviews. The unit Is very easy to use, but that's because there arn't too much parameters, some effects don't have parameters at all like the wah pedal for example... and volume pedal.
Editing pathes is done by turning the knobs while the current paramter is activated, this will switch to manual mode and after editing you just hit the write button and everything is saved. very easy.
The manual is great, short, staight and direct, but it is not needed too much.

Good sound are hard to ge when the possibilities are great, in this device the possibilities are very few so you get the sounds it offers.

You van choose the drive amp that comes with a 3 band EQ and that's it.

I Used An Ibanez RG550 guitar through the AX100G to the Input of a crate G60XL and a marshall Valvestate I 40W.

The effect unit is a little noisy on high gains and compressor effect, noise gate reduces there sounds along with your guitar signal...
Effects are OK, but again they have a few parameters.

This units get's no artists sound...
Distortions are mostly bad, only 2 of them are good.
cab simulator is really bad.
NR is bad.
Peadal Wah is good.

I wouldn't use it in a gig because when you change patch it mutes for a sec and your sound is cut off.

No. I wouldn't use it at a gig at all, somtimes when you press the next patch button it skips a patch and goes to the second next patch.

Pedal doesn't always work!!! it's like the software is stuck and you have to reset the pedal effect. I.E. turning it off and on.

Plastic Made.

What i use most the distortions are good, solid but i think they could be better like more metal, i wanted a more metal sound kind of Megadeth . its noisy a little ,not too much. Like i said some effects are good like the NiN distortion changed to metal. Also the Sampler is very good for metal.my amps are a peavey envoy 110 and a avt100 marshall. the Satch(satriani) effect is very good very clear and with good harmonics.
But what i play is True Metal(Iron Maiden,Helloween,Megadeth,Gamma Ray etc..)not the crap like Korn, papa roach etc....

DONT USE IT ON A GIG BECAUSE ITS PLASTIC

The board is easy to use for the most part... but requires major tweaking to make any of the effects sound good.

Sound Quality : 5
I use a Marshall amp w/ an assortment of guitars.

The AX100G isn't really "noisy" or anything, it's just not clear sounding. It has a weak bite to it. I love the Nine Inch Nails distortion... it actually sounds high quality. The Jazz setting has a nice ring to it... tho most of the effects are not up to my standards.

Reliability : 5
I doubt I'd use it for a gig due to the plastic and the chance of moving a dial and screwing up the whole setup.

I play all types of music in my 13 years of playing... and this just isn't what I was looking for. If you're a beginner or intermediate player this could be just what you're looking for. The value is very good however. In sound equipment... we all know... you have to pay for great stuff usually. This however, is a fantastic value.

Without using the Manual I managed most of the Functions within a few Hours. Very Good, ´cause it is very easy to handle! Like others mentioned before, there is a Hook with the Sample/Loop Funktion! The Pedal´s Rubber doesn´t get deep enough to touch the switch for
starting the Recording Mode. I thought about fixing it with Tape or so, but now I just put up the Pedal and use my little Finger to do this.

Sound Quality : 9
I gave it a 9, because of the Volume and the Acoustic and Compressor Sounds that could be much better. For working with Amps the Volume is o.k., but over Headphone the Level is simply not loud enough. And who needs such things as a damn Ring Modulator? They could have spared it and put in something better instead. Same is with the Maj, Min, 4th crap. For me it´s absolutely useles. Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Reverb, Slow Attack and Wah Effects are pretty o.k., but simply no High Class.
I also found that the Cabinet Simulator cuts a lot of Dynamic. So I don´t use it.
On the other Hand the Distortion Sounds are really great, for that I would give it a 10! It lasted a Day, but then I found the Clou getting wonderful Crunchy Sounds out of it.
My Strat started singing and I found myself playing Hours and Hours to a Drum Groove. PEOPLE, YOU HAVE TO WORK WITH THIS MACHINE!!! Then you can get real good Sounds that are much more powerful than from many other Multi-FX. Don´t get fooled by the Preset Patches. They mostly sound bad, but the AX100G can do a lot more! Try these: (best Result with Strat-type Guitars, Bridge & Middle PU – Uuh, sometimes better than Sex…) And Guys, have a Look at the WAH DWN! THIS is the Key for a lot more Harmonics to create good clean and crunchy Sounds, ´cause it gains the higher Frequencies:
1.) Amp: Brit. Stack, Gain: 2.7, Treble: 5.3, Mid: 5.3, Bass: 6.0, Level: 7.0, Mod: Wah Dwn 100 (Depth: 0.0) !!! , Pedal Volume: 100, Amb: Room 2 (Value:100), Cabi: (OFF), NR: 6.3, Prog. Level: 100.
2.) If you want more Patches – feel free to contact.
One thing is also better than with many other Products: The AX100G sounds VERY good on nearley every Device – I tried it on Amps, active Computer Sound System, HiFi – it sounds perfect with all of them!
This is a Problem with Toneworks PX2, PX3 Stuff (I like these little crackers): They sound cool on Headphones or Mixer, but not on a Amp. So the AX100G is perfect for Beginners even with small Amps etc. The Drumsounds are a much better than the Pandora´s. It´s fun to play with.
By the Way: I use a Fender Stratocaster Special Edition (Tex Special Pu´s), Fender Telecaster (Vintage) and a Yamaha DG100 – 212 Amp. I´m sure you can make every kind of Guitar roaring like Hell with the AX100G.

I think it will last, if you´re a bit careful. I use the AX100G on Stage too. As a Backup the Yamaha DG100 is good enough.

I´m playing 34 Years now and in my early Years I started playing a horrible Fender Type Plywood Guitar plugged in an old Tube Radio that sometimes gave me electric Shocks, ´cause it wasn´t grounded. But I couldn´t stop playing even when facing Death…Today we have the possibility to buy well priced Equipment like the AX100G, that can do so much. How Times are changing! When you are looking for a Device that produces real good Overdrive, Distortion, Crunch and clean Sounds, this must be your choice! It can even mess with the old Zoom 5000 Hybrid Pedal, that I also got! It´s perfect for all Rock, Heavy Rock and Metal Players (specially with little Money). If lost or stolen, I would buy this one or maybe the AX1500. Go and buy it too. You´ll love it!

Ease of Use : 9
This unit comes out of the box with some good patches to get you up to speed quickly. The interface is pretty easy to get used to, and I don't remember if I even looked at the manual. My only complaint about operating this device is that when you switch to a preset that has different values than what are on the dials at the moment, the slightest touch of the dial will reset those values.

For some reason, this is a big problem on nearly all processors of this type. Motorized dials would be helpful, but probably too expensive for a sub-200 unit. One review I read of a similar product suggested using continous dials, so that the dials can assume any value no matter what position they're in.

Sound Quality : 7
I used this pedal with my Crate GFX-65 and a stock MIM Fender Standard Strat. It doesn't really work so well with my Marshall JCM900 combo, but I didn't expect it to either. It makes a loud "crack" on startup (so turn your amp on afterwards) but once operational it's pretty quiet.

It takes tweaking, but I like almost all of the FX in this box. The "Satch" preset is great, and perfect for wailing away on Summer Song or Surfing With The Alien. The sounds are good enough to make you experiment with other sounds and styles of playing.

I would give it a 9 or 10, but it claims to be great for DI recording, and this is simply not the case. The cab models are nice, but only for making a small amp feeling a little bigger, not for making a DI recording sound authentic.

Another small gripe is the delay between switching presets. Having not used any other digital processors, I suspect that this is a fault of all digital FX, but I can't say for sure. It makes this unit ineffective for guitarists who like to switch patches or drive channels on the fly--there's a gap of silence that really kills the effect.

Another thing to note is that when it gets low on batteries, the sound gets real crappy for an hour or so before the batteries actually die.

Reliability : 7
This is my one big gripe, and the reason I am even bothering to leave a review. The unit is sturdy, and has taken a pounding, but...

The unit does not have an on/off switch!! It turns on either when it has batteries and a guitar is plugged in, or when you plug in AC current. This is a minor inconvience by itself, but at the rate which it chews batteries, it's absurd not to package an AC adapter with the processor.

I picked the best fitting plug that I could find at RadioShack, but the way the inside of the connector is made, when the plug wiggles or shifts, it resets the processor, making this thing impossible to use for more than a few minutes at a time, and that is why I really hate this unit and will not buy anything from Korg for a very long time after this. If it got stolen, I would be glad to have gotten rid of it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never bothered calling them.

Overall Rating : 5
I like lots of different style of music, but when it comes to writing and recording I generally find myself sounding punk or alternative with some bluesy/funky elements thrown in.

This thing was fine for my level of playing at the time, but as I say, the batteries/adapter situation led to my resenting the unit, and that delay in switching effects made it unusable for a number of songs I want to play. I bought this after I had playing an electric for about 1 1/2 to 2 years. I'm now at a little over three and I have really outgrown this thing.

These days, I'm just using my JCM-900 with a mike to record on to a 2nd hand portastudio, and I'm doing far better with it than the old DI method I was using with this thing.

A beginner with lots of batteries could definitely get milage out of this thing though.

Excellent, Have not read the manual yet, worked the interface out in about half an hour. Editing patches was simple after getting some presets from the internet and running them, this is all you need to do with this unit to understand how to use it. Though i will admit , i get great sounds from the factory presets and these are what i use .

Sound Quality : 9
Im running a Samick Artist series Les Paul. straight into the unit and then out to my PC which is equipped with a Sound Blaster Audigy 2.
Noise is a problem if you dont tweak every point in your music chain. But once you have your git, fx box and pooter all sorted you can happily go from a phaser to a chorus to a crunchy distored sound without having to re-tweak. This helps big time, as it would piss me off too much to have to re-tweak from effect to effect.
Ive managed to emulate most of my fav players with this box (and a bit of help from my pooter. got a ripping nirvana patch, a very accurate pantera patch, and my green day covers have never sounded so good.

if you play around with it you will get what you sound you are looking for.

Have not had any probs with this unit (except for the fact there is no goddamn power button, whats the deal here guys!). A strange feature of this unit is the battery slot, have not used this, but i guess some people would find some use for this. I would give ruggedness about a 6.5 out of 10, (dont stomp). but for the construction and material types used for this, i wouldnt doubt that it would last forever as long as you looked after the little guy .
I only gig with myself , and all my work is recorded to PC where i clean it up, add drum tracks etc etc. If i lost this bad boy i would definately buy another... its supreme for its price......

If it were stolen apart from gouging out the bastards eyes out i would most certainly replace, buti would look at other korg units that are bigger and better to compare. If they were similair i would go with them.
I love all the FX, and i can just chop and change between great sounding FX. It keeps me playing for hours on end, as the style changes just keep you interested.

WHERES THE FUKKING POWER BUTTON???

id say that this unit has inspired endless amounts of creativity.

Ive been using a Squier strat and a peavey 158 rage and the pedal is ideal for practising with. The sounds are great to experiment with and the phaise trainer is amazing for recording backings and soloing over. The flanger and Chorus are weak which is what lets this pedal down. I can get a great sabbath tone by using classic distortion. The main effects i use are, Distortion, classic distortion, Static, flanger, chorus, bender, and overdrive.

Easy is an understatement! I love that when you turn a know, it instantly goes into edit mode!! Yeahhhh!!! Manual was OK, but it's easier to learn by doing. My dog could program this thing. Great back-lit 7-digit display for on-stage use. Plus, the tuner is sooooo much better then the one on the lower-priced Korg AX1G. I also own that one, for now. Can you say eBay?

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this through a '92 Les Paul Studio and a Peavey Express 112S. Love the Metal, US Hi-Gain & the Marshall, oops, "Brit Stack" settings. I did not notice the noise some guys are talkin' about. Flanger is a bit weak, as well as the Chorus, but if you want every single effect to be killer, go spend a grand on 10 seperate stomp-boxes. I for one, will not. Most effects are good to very good, but some suck. What the heck is "Ringman" supposed to emulate? I love using the "Bender", because I refuse to put a Floyd Rose on my Les Paul. The "Bender" absolutly SUCKED on the AX1G.

Only had this thing a week, & I'm still trying to get an Eddie Van Halen sound(Pre-1984). I want the EVH sound for my cover band, but I'm looking for a good hard-rock sound for my original stuff, and easily found it by noodeling around for a while. I tried in vein to get a good sound with the AX1G, to no avail. If you can help with a old VH patch, e-mail me at kng1994@yahoo.com....

COMPLAINT: The presets seem to cater to the modern "rock" crowd. C'mon, Nine Inch Nails, Kid Rock????

I also have the Korg AX1G, and this runs circles around it. Love the drives, Bender, back-lit display & the tuner. Some pre-set's are worthless(to me). Would it kill them to put an on/off switch on it? Plus, the main volume is a pain because it's on the back panel. Shame! Overall, a great pedal, at a good price. If it were stolen, I'd hunt down the low-life, tape his head to my amp, and play on 11 for an hour and a half. Then, I'd f**k his girlfriend while he's still taped to my amp.

Sound Quality : 10
The effects are crystal-clear. I especially like the cabinet simulation. Very cool. ALL KINDS of effects to choose from. If you got all the Boss single pedals, daisy-chained together, you would have about 2 grand worth of boxes in front of you. And the AX100G sounds just as good. It has some pedal modeling in it, so you do get some "Boss" sounding stuff anyway....like on the metal distortion, modeled after the Boss Metal Zone MT-2. Phaser is trippy, Flanger warps your mind, Delay is Floyd-y....what more can you ask for? How about 50 or so more crystar clean efffects!! One option turns your electric into an acoustic.....Too Cool!! In a word or two.....sounds awesome.

Only had the thing for a day, so we shall see, won't we.....Rugged li'l thing though. I Love Boss pedals, they're tanks, and fun to smack down on....but I think I'll ease up a bit with the AX100G.

It's easy to create your own sounds with this thing and editing couldn't be easier. The only problem I had was with the Loop/Sampler effect, but I fixed it with a sticker. The manual tells you all you need to know (well not about the little switch under the pedal).

Sound Quality : 8
I use guitars like my Ibanez GSA60 and a couple of Washburns and mostly headphones and a Rocktron 2x12 (and sometimes my Laney HC30R amp, but I don't like the sound of it).

It's sad that there's often too much noise in the sound because otherwise this pedal is very good. Adding the noise reduction kills the sustain and whenever there is too much noise reduction the sound is pretty crappy.

I also think that there should be more drive amps because the sounds are get a bit boring after 5 months. Some people have been complaining about the distortion and saying that it's weak. Luckily I found a way to get a relly thick, phat and cool sound:
DriveAmp: Metal, US hi-gain or brit stack
Modulation: Flanger, speed min, depth min and feedback max.
Then adjust treble, middle and bass as you wish. I prefer lots of bass, almost no middle and 5-7 treble. Some amplifiers don't like these settings tho, because there is wayyy too much bass and the amp starts to create resonance if you play it too loud (that's one reason I like to use headphones).
The clean sounds are pretty good, almost no noise except when using the acoustic drive amp.

I have used the phase trainer a couple of times. For example learning to play Korn's Falling Away From Me (well the beginning) and creating the right sound took only 10 minutes or so. I also got the sound of 3 Doors Down's Better Life. Haven't used it since.

Almost all the effects are pretty good, but there are still many that are totally useless. Filter, phaser, flanger, loop/sample and delay are at the top of my list (not in that order).

One reason why I bought the ax100g was the possibility to jam along the drum beats. Beats are quite limited but they're OK for practicing alone.

Reliability : 10
I can totally depend on it and yes I would use it on a gig without any backup.

I play many styles of music, mostly nu-metal and some funky tunes. This effect pedal is all I need. if it were stolen, I'd propably buy the V-amp II or a couple of separate effect pedals like smash-box and autowah from Ibanez. I like the easy editing and the variety of effects and I like the fact that I can use it with headphones without an amplifier.

With some tweaking you get some nice sounds. I am messing again with the distortions, which is difficult. The editing is easy and fast due to the knobs, but you gotta take a day off (or skip a night like I did) to get all this. You are lost without a manual.

Sound Quality : 7
No noise if you use the noisegate. some fx are good like the delays, reverbs and the cabinet sim. Though the distortions need a lotta work. There's a lot to adjust and if you use the thing exclusively for practice and writing and you are retired, you can get like most sound that you need. Great fx? = up 2 U! I am pleased. I could never come close to my favorite's cuz they use $100.000's of equipement and I don't so I don't bother.

I consider it I good deal for what you get but I have to get this off my chest: ALL MUSIC EQUIPEMENT IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!! It helps me make music, otherwise I'd have left it in the store. One more thing:
IS THERE A PATCH DATABASE AVAILABLE ON THE NET??? If you know a place e-mail me please. ZOOM and Digitech users both got a userspage... Why don't we? Oh and you can safely buy this thing, it is good but don't expect miracles for this price 'kay?

Very simple layout, intuitive and quick to get around on. Editing is a breeze although depth of editing is limited but acceptable for a multiprocesser in the AX100g. The manual is probably unnecessary to anyone who has used an effects processor but the information is brief and acceptable.

Sound Quality : 7
The chorus effect is near useless having an ill defined sound and not much diversity, the acoustic modeler and feedback effects work to a degree. On a humbucking guitar it will take a lot of work to tweak a sound that will get somewhat like an acoustic guitar, if you have coil taps or single coil guitars you will fare better, still, it's not a very convincing acoustic sound although it does sound good. I use a sustainer equipped Fernandes Revolver Pro. The sustain and harmonic sustain of the guitar is a great feedback solution. The effect in the AX100g is not very convincing although it might be useful to others. The delays are uninspired to very good, the same with distortion and the physical modeling sections. My main dislike is the fixed structure of effects and limitation of what effects can be used. The sound is good but the Korg pedalboards are inflexible which is a major downside.

Reliability : 9
Well built, seemingly dense plstic casing although the expression pedal has minimal travel. The buttons and knobs are somewhat fragile although they held up fine. I'm not gigging right now but if I was I'd be comfortable using the AX100g without a backup.

I play a variety of music and enjoy strange little noises. They often find their way onto recordings. To a degree the AX100g does a good job in this respect. I have a dedicated looper so I don't use that feature. Other reviewers had mixed opinions. Compared to the Boss ME-33 which was about $30 more expensive the AX100g held it's own on some timbres such as distortion. If you don't have a amp modeler and don't want to invest in one you won't be disappointed. In the end the routing of effects were a limitiation I didn't want to work with. NOTE: the AX1500g is more of everything but has the same effects routing. If you don't like how it works on the AX100g then you probably won't want to bother with it. It's too bad about Korg's decision of limitiations on their effects processors. If the AX100g was a bit more flexible it would be a favorite. Even with the issues I've noted it's worth it's price. One boutique stompbox costs more and isn't necessarily better sounding.

It's pretty easy to get a good sound out of it, because you dial in a amplifier model and the rest is just the same as a normal amplifier (gain, treble, middle, bass and level/volume). And choosing effects is just as easy. So editing is very easy. The manual is good, learns you what all the knobs mean. But the AX100G is easy to handel enough to operate it without manual.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm using two aria pro II 35 watt amplifiers with it. This means one on the left channel and one on the right (it has a stereo output). And I play an Epiphone les paul standard on it. FX are pretty good, also wah-wah wich is normally not so good on multiFX. FX may be not as good as a bunch of individual stomp boxes but well for the price you pay? The only comment I have is the gap (no sound for a 1/4 second or so) between switching patch,fx or amp model It's not so noisy not more than a normal amp except for the aucoustic modeling (but I never use it). It is pretty easy to get an sound of your favorite artist because of the 9 amp models. Doesn't really matter what style you're playing.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's plastic, but still solid enough to play live (even without a backup). You shouldn't roll tanks over it nor should you jump on it. But with normal use. It does it's job well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

I play mainly metal + rock. For about 1,5 years. But I guess the AX100G would do well for more experienced players. It's a lot cheaper than a pile of stom boxes and a ten meter high stack of amplifiers.
For me it is definatly good enough. I don't asume that I will buy any fx for the upcoming years. So if it where stolen I would buy another one.

Get a good sound is easy with plant effects. Editing patches is easy. The manuel is complete.

Ok, now i'll be subjective. I like this unit because it gives a lot of choices. I considered the RP200 first, and then this unit gave me a best impression.

Just I don't know how to use SAMPLE and LOOP but that's now a reference :).

I use my Ibanez GSA60(huh...) and my Norman B15(yeah) as guitars a and little combo amp that came with the Ibanez guitar(IBZ10). For the little time I use it, it is not so noisy. The Echo is great and you can add a lot of overdrive. The fun is also to simulate pedals like BOSS(one effect). you can change drive-amp during playing.

Pretty easy. Lots of effects and cab sims. I like the acoustic sim, but it can be noisy if you're not careful. Very easy to program and save patches. Also easy to use the rhythm and drum tracks. Please note: when using the loop or sample functions, you really have to press hard on the expression pedal. It's not clear from the documentation.

Sound Quality : 9
My rig: Ibanez S540 w/ Dimarzio P/Us, Morley Bad Horsie II, Boss DriveZone, AX100G, Fender Princeton 65. The sound quality is quite good. Actually, I was surprised at how good the clean, acoustic, and compressor sounds are. I'm not totally impressed with the distorions. They are ok, but be careful when cranking up the gain. You can get some nasty feedback. Otherwise, the sound is really great. When you consider the price, it's maybe the best value and sound for the dollar.

Reliability : 8
I've been a Boss guy all my life. So, I'm a little nervous about how long it will last. However, the case looks pretty sturdy. The pedals and knobs are decent looking. I'm not too worried.

Customer Support : 9
Very nice. I mentioned the LOOP and SAMPLE problem with the pedal. I contacted tech support via e-mail, and I got a response in 2 hours! That might not be typical, but it was nice to see they do check and are quick to respond.

I am very impressed that Korg was able to cram so much functionality into this thing for the money. Not being a pro and as an electrical engineer, I can appreciate simple design at a good price. If you want better, you'll spend at least $400, and you won't get that much more than you'll get with this. IMO, it's AX100G or an expensive rack-mount system. Anything in between is a waste.

The supplied patches were OK but a lot of dodgy ones floating around in there but some really useable one.

I didn't understand fully how to use it at first but as soon as I looked through the manual a bit I understood it but now that I understand how it works the patches are easy to edit.

It contains 80 patches (40 fixed and 40 programmable) and approx 63 FX. Some really dodgy but some actually quite good.

Sound Quality : 6
`01 Gibson LP Studio > Korg AX100G > Marshall AVT100

When it's used clean on my amp there's no background noise at all but when I bypass it and use my amp's overdrive there's an extreme amount of background noise (especially on OD2) and it really annoyed me.

Some of the FX are pretty weak especially the acoustic simulator which gives you a lot of background noise. The ring modulator and echo effect are both pretty useless but ok if you're bored. The rest of the FX are ok.

Reliability : 5
I don't think I can really depend on it too much but it seems sturdy enough. I doubt I'd gig without a back up but I'm not a big FX guy and my on stage setup is kept simple with the guitar running straight to the amp.

Overall Rating : 6
I play anything from Classical to Metal and some of the FX suit me fine when I can't get the sound I want from my amp but whenever I plug this in I either start flipping through the FX for half an hour screwing around and then disconnect it or I use the built in metronome to improve my timing.

I've been playing almost 2 years now and if it was stolen I'd beat the bastard but I wouldn't replace it.

Things I love about it: Some pretty good distortions in there and some of the FX are high quality for a multi FX.

Things I hate about it: Some of the FX are weak and unuseable and the background noise when Used with my amps OD channels when it's on bypass is VERY annoying. I just wish that it had true bypass but when do you ever see a multi-fx unit like that?

I don't highly reccomend this effect as I rarely use it but I'm gonna try and use it a bit more but at the end of the day my amp's enough without it although I use the wah a lot. I'd try it out before you buy otherwise you might be a bit disappointed like I was.

in the case that this is one of the new multifx it is very easy to edit patches etc. because of the knobs you have the feeling as if you were working on an amp. much more easier than editing subtree menus with one or two knobs on some other pedals.

How easy is it to get a good sound out of it?
*In reference to multifx, this one is easy to get a good sound out of it. I spend about less than 10mins to create one nice patch of my own taste and it really satisfying.

How about Editing patches?
*As said above

How is the manual for it (if there is one)?
*The manual is short and explains little, but enough for all of the basic functions, only thing is i still can't get the looper to work, the manual is real bad for the looper.

Sound Quality : 10
What setup (i.e. what guitars and amps) are you using this with?
*I use this with a Johnson 30 watt solid state practice amp and Yahama EG303 guitar.

Is it noisy? On what settings?
*With distortion and modulation effects like flanger, this can get a little noisy, but i just have to turn on the Noise Reduction and all the noise are gone. Now i make fun of my other guitarist in the band who uses a noisy Metal Zone, because i can get better distortion sound than his MT-2 and i can let go of my hands and experience no noise at all.

Are the effects weak or do they always sound great?
*As i have said ealier, i can get better distortion sounds than my friend's metal zone. Why? That's because i feel that the metal distortion on this unit is warmer than the MT-2. And i have to disagree on all those below who said the acoustic effect suck. The ACOUSTIC SIM IS REAL GOOD, all of my friends have praised that my acoustic effect is wonderful. ONE REMINDER is you have to use this unit in high volumes. I use it on normal jamming volumes where i turn my volume of my 30 watt amp 3/4 to max (note that the bass, mid and treb on your amp is also important to get a good sound). If you use it in normal bedroom volumes, then all the acoustic and chorus effect will sound bad, because the volume is too soft! This unit has a tendency that the disotortion patches are too loud and clean pathes are too soft. What i do is i turn down the volume of all those distortion patches so that it will match the volume of the clean sounds.

There's a tricky part when using the chorus. Don't expect to sound with good chorus just by turning a few knobs. You need to add some ambience effect like Delay and very important: The cab sim, i always use 4X12 cab sim with depth at 4 and instantly, the chorus effect became real amazing. I spent about 20mins just to tweak the chorus to my liking, there are so many knobs to tweak, spend your time tweaking and i assure you can get astonishing results.

Reliability : 10
I use it on a gig and it works 100% well. No problem at all. And yes, i use battries just in case myself or my other band member accidently trip the wire and i won't lose my unit.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I got a one year warranty and the shop who sold me this is quite friendly and helpful. Never dealt with Korg though.

Seriously, i'm truly amazed how good this thing sounds and at such a cheap price, what else can i say? If you are looking for a cheap and good multifx, give this a go, you won't be disappointed.

When I first bought it, I found it fairly easy to get a sound out of it, but I got lost when it came to saving your own patches. I couldn't get the concept of the user programs. The booklet wasn't that helpful but I eventually understood it. Editing and tweaking patches are easy once you get the hang of it, just play around till you get the sound you're after

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Yamaha Pacifica EG-112 into a Crate GX-15 amp and I get a great sound out of it. It's really impressive how much it sounds like the big amps I try in the shops. I don't get any hiss or any annoying sounds through it, except when you have acoustic down as low as it goes and you can hear a faint hiss.
I play all music from Green day to Metallica, from Hendrix to Blink 182 and from Eric Clapton to Santana as well as original music and I can get amazing sounds for all of the through this unit.
Most effects work really well, but the ringman starts to piss you off after a while, and I don't like the feedback program. (There goes my Hendrix-style USA Anthem)
Other than that the sound is great

Reliability : 10
Although the plastic body doesn't look too tough looks can be decieving, I would uses this for a gig with no backup. I would run it into a power supply and have batteries in it just incase but no other backup would be needed as far as I'm concerned.

As I mentioned earlier I play all styles of music and it suits me perfectly. I can jam with it all day and not get tired of it. If it was stolen or lost I probably break both kneecaps of the guy who stole it then go buy a new one straight away. I'd be pissed off that I lost all my programs but you get over it.

I definately think that this pedal is great value for guitarists of all styles and experience. I compared this to a Boss GT-3 And a digitech RP-200 and the sounds produced are nowhere near as good as the ones on the AX100g.

Im usin a Mexi Strat through a line6 Spider 212. Its not noisy at all, if it gets a lil hissy i just turn on the Noise gate. The effects take some tweaking to get what u want but u can achieve just bout any sound u want. Some of the things that suck are the Pitch mod, wah is alright not great, and the Min maj 5ths stuff that i havent been able to use (sound cool though). Acoustic sim is awesome, so is da feedbacker, chorus, filter, pitch(pedal) and the list goes on. The ring mod is so cool but so pointless its great!! The distortions kick ass. I play punk and classic/modern rock and its perfect. I can spend hours and hours playin with this thing so much fun!!oh and the drum thing is kinda satisfactory

This is a follow up to an earlier eval I posted. ( I have to learn to wait a little before posting out here :-) ) After tweaking for a couple of weeks I seemed to hit a wall on a couple of sounds, and also found some better than I expected. Overall, though, tweaking setting is fast, easy and fun.

Sound Quality : 9
I ran this into two setups, At home, it was ran into a Boss BR-8 recorder (with effects turned off) and when playing at my church it was fed into a Peavey keyboard amp. I use a Fender US Strat with Lace Pickups.

I was never able to get the sound up to par on the acoustic setting. It either sounded flat or had a hiss to to it that was really undesirable. Noise reduction ended the his when nothing was played but the his was THERE when playing.

I DID find the feedback emulator fun and very usable and will miss that feature.

I never did like the chorus effects but the rest all seemed fine. But since chorus and accoustic sounds are pretty much what I use a 50% of the time it let me down there. BUT, if you play rock, metal etc the unit will probably be great.

Amp simulations were pretty good when played into a line level device. It is really biased, though, to sound good in headphones, which it REALLY sounded good in.

Reliability : 8
The unit I had an inconsistent problem on the amp simulator knob: It would occasionally skip an amp model as you turned the knob. You could find the missing model between detents though. Not a huge problem but nonetheless a quality flaw. I buy/sell equipment alot on eBay and I know that a flaw like that will hurt it being sold used, so I sent returned it.

I play in a church Worship Team, which covers almost all kinds of music ('cept maybe punk!). The pedal worked well there, with the exceptions listed above. I like the pedal, but since I returned it, I guess I could not say I would buy one again. I would say though it is a matter of taste. The AX100G had some very attractive features and had a very different sound than a similar Boss pedal. The Korg sounded warmer and smoother than the Boss. Oddly enough I looked at the higher end Korgs and did not like the sound they made.

I wish this pedal had a little better quality and while I'm at it, a longer travel expression pedal wouldn't hurt too!

The manual is good. The preset patches are pretty good but with some tweaking they can be very good. Editing patches is quick and easy. Great idea to have an "Orginal setting" light that comes on when you are tweaking a setting and come upon what it was set at before. That way you know how much to raise or lower. The distortions have quick and easy access to tweak all settings. I take off points because it took me awhile to realize that you have to press the pedal down really hard to start the looping. Also, there are like 3 different methods of controlling the volume for each patch (master volume, patch volume, and patch gain)! This gets a little confusing and takes a little time to get each patch the perfect volume. Lastly, if you switch the distortion volume on the fly it will jump from wherever it was set to where you turn it to and this can be a little hazardous loud jump when tweaking in the middle of a song.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm playing a Fender Mexican Fat Strat through a Line6 FM-4, Crybaby 95Q Wah, TU2 tuner, Korg AX100, Nobels ODR-1 Overdrive, Arion SPH-1Phaser, Visual Sound H20 Chorus/Delay into a Carvin Vintage 33 tube amp. Yes, as you can see I love pedals!! I play guitar in a gigging jamband that does a lot improv. I've been playing for 10 years and have tried many pedals and multi-fx over the years. I am very satisfied with the Korg AX100. Especially for the price. If my pedalboard disappeared I would be extremely pissed and sad but one of the first pedals I'd replace would be the AX100.

I was scared the AX100 would be noisy in my pedal chain but it is not. Effects ratings:

Noise Reduction is fantastic!

Rhythms are alright to practice with but they are fairly simple and get boring after a few minutes.

Phrase Trainer records either 8 seconds of external audio or your guitar and loops it for you to jam over. Then you can slow it down to 25% speed without changing the pitch.

Looper is great! This is why I bought this pedal. The AX100 costs as much as the cheapest looper (Akai Headrush) but the AX100 does so much more! After looping you can control the length of the loops with the pedal which makes it stutter kinda like a DJ scratching a record!

The Distortions are terrific. Someone said they are geared towards Metal. I totally disagree. I find many choices are great for blues, rock, and hard rock. I can get very good Santana sounds and Trey Anastasio sounds and good Hendrix.

The Feedbacker is awesome. Just what I always wanted. I can hold a note forever!!

The delays and reverbs are good

Ring mod and Pitch shifter are great because you can control them by the pedal and make squeeling sounds that are fun!

Those are the FX I think make the pedal great. I didn't like the flanger, phaser, slow attack, envelope, or chorus as much. That's alright though since I have some individual pedals for those fx.

Reliability : 9
Yes I can depend on it. It is hard plastic that I don't foresee breaking. I take care of my gear.

I'm currently gigging with it in my pedalboard.

Customer Support : 10
I couldn't get the looper to work so I called Korg. He told me I had to push the pedal down harder and that worked. I felt stupid but oh well. They were helpful and friendly.

I have found this unit to work very nicely considering the price and maybe even not considering the price. Editing is easy and the manual is thin due mainly to the fact it is easy to use. I have operated it for about an hour and though the editing functions are limited it does what it is supposed to do well.

Sound Quality : 8
I am going to use this unit alongside (in parallel with) a Roland VG-88 to both layer sounds and to just get some new sounds. The sound quality compared to the '88 is a bit warmer, maybe too much so, but can be equalized to whatever. The main reason I picked this unit over others is that it seems to have the most viable feedback simulator. Now, granted this fback sim is pretty artificial sounding sometimes but it still seems to have what I need.

I run the unit in two modes: At home it plugs into a Boss BR-8 that goes to monitor speakers or headphones. When I play out it goes into a Peavey KB-300a keyboard amp and or PA system. I think alot of people have problems with the fact that when you buy a multi effects pedal with amp simulation that many times the best way to amplify it is with a neutral amplifier like a keyboard amp or PA system as opposed to a guitar amplifier. I feel sorry for those people who think they can buy a AX100G, feed it to a small Fender amp and have the outcome sound like 4x12 Marshall Stack. For an application like that, with a big heavy and expensive amp, go to individual stomp boxes. I've gone the route of big amps before and although nothing sounds more like a Fender Twin Amp like a Fender Twin Amp, moving the thing around will break your back.

I will say the chorus on this thing is lame and awful to me, but like I said, I'm running it in parallel with a VG-88, which has a great chorus. I may be able to tweak the chorus a little better after some more time though.

Reliability : 10
I am easy on equipment and only play at home and in church settings so I expect no problems. At one quarter the cost of my big Roland unit I expect it to be made cheaper, but I don't see problems with it.

Some effects are the greatest, not as much of a liveliness, if you know what i mean.

Its hard plastic, so if you stomp on it too hard, it's gunna break. So be carefull.

The unit has fairly easy to understand knobs and buttons, but I found it harder to configure compared to other similar units. All in all not bad, but it could be better.

Sound Quality : 7
This unit has a fairly nice overall sound for it?s price range. It has a lot of really heavy metal type distortions which is cool if that is what you are looking for. The effects are pretty decent also. A couple of cool features are the bender and the feedbacker. They both sound kind of hokey unless you work with them some, but with practice can be made to sound better. I found that the thing I liked about it the most was their compressed auto wah sound. I have a GFX-8 currently and it the sound contrast between the 2 is pretty different. Once again this has a heavier sound to it. The preset patches suffer a bit from ?we use delay on all of our patches? syndrome. For the most part the patches are fair, but need a bit of tweaking?. Especially if you?re not a fan of a lot of delay/reverb. This does however along with the cabinet simulator make the sound big and wide. This unit for it?s price is a pretty good deal for a beginner and good enough for someone more advanced if you want the heavy tones. One thing I did not like is the fact that the unit did not have midi capability for saving patches. On the other hand a really nice feature is the ability to visually see where a preset tone knob originally started. If you modify the treble, bass or dist and turn the knob past the original value it shows ?orig? on the display to let you know that this is were the patch started the value for this knob. I bought the unit and returned it, but that is just because I was looking for something a bit different that what this pedal was.

Reliability : No Opinion
This unit appears to be almost 100% plastic. It seems tough enough and could be trusted I believe in a controlled environment, but I don?t know if it would stand up to a lot of heavy bashing if that is your thing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 7
It?s not a bad unit?.just not quite what I was looking for. It had pretty good effects and loads of metal distortion. For the price it?s a great beginner pedal. For those of you out there looking to sound like Clapton/Cream, or The Who this pedal is not for you. This pedal?s strong suit is not ?creamy distortion? or clean tones.

The sound quality is almost perfect. but for the price, let's say it's perfect! it isn't noisy and all the effects sounds great unless it's the ringman thing. I'm using a little 25 watts yamaha amp and it makes him sound great. I can get metallica and megadeth sound out of it. Really , I love the sound.

Yeah I think I can depend on it. and I would also surely use it at a gig eithout a backup.

If you are the typical male and don't read the manual, you will have some trouble getting around. Overall pretty straight-forward. Really like the edit function where you will always know where the saved patch valve is when the "org" for original flashes on the screen. Line6 should really have this function on the POD, once you touch the preset values, there is no reference point to try tweaking saved presets.

Sound Quality : 9
This thing rocks. I mostly dial in the higher gain settings such as the US HI gain or the British Stack. If you are into 80's and 90's metal such as Maiden, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Dokken, Van Halen then this is the unit. If you like the hi-gain sound with layers of delay and top it off with a slight chorus of flanger then this unit will do it.

Had it for a month and use it in a home studio setting where it will not be abused

I bought this on a whim after viewing the Korg website and listening to the MP3 files and product demo video. I have been through almost every amp/preamp/guitar combination known to man and I still cannot get that "tone". I currently own a POD 2.3 and needless to say I just wasn't happy with my tone everytime I used it. Out of frustration I bought the AX100G. My first initial impression was this thing was just a cheap processor with crummy presets and a bunch of useless features. I have to admit that I didn't like the sound but with a little tweaking of the original presets and after I read the manual I found I could get a good 80's or 90's metal tone. I really realized that I liked this unit when I turned on the Rhythm Section. I found myself playing for hours and feeling good that for once I sounded good. With the POD I found myself tweaking myself to death! The rythem section really adds a whole different factor into the mix which I feel really makes you want to play more. Personally I feel that this is more of a toy than a professional effects processor/preamp but what the hell not everyone has to play through a Boogie or Bogner to sound good, especially if you play a bedroom levels.

Its very easy to use, the loop is ok once I got the hang of it and now it sounds great! I can do my own bass lines and tap a button when I want to do a lead break. kick ass. I haven't used the manual yet so I dunno what its like (thats how easy the pedal is to use)

Sound Quality : 9
I use either a '96 strat and a 75 watt session amp or the same guitar with a 15 watt fender practice amp. It sounds great on both of them and always sounds how I want it exept then I use the ring function (what the hell is the point of it?)
I can always get the right sound (Jimi Hendrix or Dandy Warhols or The Stones or my very own sound)
My favorite effect has to be Da'Fuzz, I liked it so much I renamed it to "Beefy" in second is Funky, the rest are all cool as well apart from the ring one.

Sure, I can depend on it and definately I'd use it at a gig w/o back up.

I like to play rock and blues, it sorts them out and gets the right sound.
I've been playing for about 6-7 years and only own a strat, westone, 75 watt amp and a 15 watt amp. I'm thinking of buying a tascam. If it was lost or stolen I would't buy a new one, I'd kill the man that took it (thats how good it is)
I love it all
I wish it had a longer recording time.
It helps me play funky beats a lot.

This is the easiest pedal board Ive used in my 20 years of playing. It is incredibly easy to get many different sounds from it. Patch editing is so easy. I just love how it automatically goes in to edit mode once you turn any of the knobs. And whats cool, is that of course nothing gets stored until you confirm to store it. So awsome!!
I tell you the truth, the only one time I used the manual since I got the unit was to see how I would reset the whole thing in case I wanted it back to new specs. I really love the Carlos Santana sound patch, it rocks big time! I even tweaked it more and created like four different types for different types of songs. Its that easy!!! I really love the fact that my inspiration keeps flowing and flowing with out any technical mumbo jumbo getting in the way. This stuff was definitely made by musicians for musicians. You have to use it to believe it. I went to Guitar center here in LA and I tweaked the one that they had as a floor sample and while I was rocking away with the santana patch, like three people bought it right away, after seeing how easy it was for me to tweak the patches and hear how good it sounded. I even told the salesman to do that more often himself and he would rake in more sales. Last I called GC they were out of stock. Im glad they are selling them cause they are very nice folks.

Sound Quality : 10
Im using a 1980 Fender Strat Made in the USA. Original pickups and all. The sound is so clear and crisp, I just recorded some leads this past weekend in my Vs 1680, and the sound was prestine and the Santa patch roared through the mix. No added noise whatsoever. The Chorus is so cool, specially when you use it with the pedal. The distortions are all very sweet. Full sound here man. Specially with the cool cabs. Im not using any amps with it. I record directly to My Roland Vs1680 or my Sony headphones. I definitely get my Santana lead sound and better. Its hard to put in words. You have to get one. No questions asked. Like I said, the distortins are super sweet. and the chorus and filter effects are nothing but awsome!!! This is the sweetest setup I ever had. Get it!!!

At first I was going to buy the digitechs for their metal casing and all, but when I played with my korg ax100g, it was love at fist touch. Personally I take care of my stuff. I use it in the studio all of the time so I cant speak for someone who might gig with it. I personally think its made really sturdy. The pedal is nice and tight and its just perfect. You dont have to literally fall forward to get the sound you want when your playing standing. Its just right. I would definitely gig with out a backup. Its really reliable, and the cool thing is that it uses battery. I use to gig and I hated my old pedal board cause one time my fellow base player accidentally unpluged my board in the stage and I was screwed. Big time! If I was in stage with this puppy, if my plug got unplugged for any reason, my battery would take over and bingo! the show would go on.. Is this awsome or what!!! All I can say, is that Korg really did it with this effect board. They scored big time!!!

Customer Support : 10
Thats how good the ax100g is. No need to call the custome support. I believe that companies who really put time in to making an awsome product from day one, really save money and keep customer loyalty because of the quality, dependability and ease of use they put into their products. You definitely will find this with the ax100g. Ive called korg CS before and they took the time to answer me with patience and with real answers.

I play everything from rock to ballads. This is the best match I ever dreamed of finding. Ive been playing for 20 years. I currently own a Korg Trinity V3 Full options, Korg I30HD, and of course my awsome Korg ax100g. Im a korg loyal big time. Korg has the reputation of making the best of the best. So guys dont settle for less. I really recommend this board. For the price, its a no Brainer!!! If it was stolen or lost I would replace it in no time. I cant see myself making a recording with out this awesome tool. I really love the ease of use and programming. But most of all, the cool sound quality you get. Oh, by the way, I got the hang of using the harmonizer. WoW, it sounds like a dream!! IF you are serious about making music, and not spend days learning a manual, if you want to let your inspiration flow, then this is it for you. The manual is there, I guess, for reference only, but here you will not need the manual to get this puppy going. I hope this review will help many of you, cause before I bought mine on ebay, new in the box, I came here to see what other people though about it, and it really helped me in my decision. So to give something back, I wrote my feeling here, and hope they will help you see what I feel about this beautiful gadget. I thank God and pray for those engineers and designers at Korg, who really made something so Good. Take care guys.

Fairly easy to tweak while playing around but has a lot of buttons to push. If you start out expecting to be able to program in the exact sounds you want without tinkering around first you will be disappointed. Easy enough to get the hang of though if you have used any sort of multi-effect before.
The Manual is not as in depth as it probably should be but it gives you the basics of how to cvhange the sounds...just doesn't tell you much about what the different settings will do to the sound.

Sound Quality : 8
Ok, I will be blunt. As with all multi-effects processors you will not get the clean change over or the pure sounds you will get with individual pedals. Still, that could have something to do with the fact you will pay the same for one top of the range pedal as you would for an entire array of effects in this system. People who write reviews on gear like this and compeltely bag out the sounds you get are not in this reality! If you want top of the range, sounds with seamless cross-over between effects and the best tone you can get then don't buy something this cheap. For what I payed it is fantastic. It has some really good, usefull pre-set sounds and is changeable enough to create almost any sound you are looking for. I play anything from hard rock to melodic, gentle songs and this covers everything.

I am using this with a Laney amp (65W) and a Samick guitar. Neither the best you can buy and I understand this when I get less than the best sounds out of it. But I don't hear any excessive noise through the ear-phones and there is only minimal noise when the distortions are in effect. Clean sounds like chorus and flange have virtualy no background hiss at all.

It already comes with a series of so-called artist sounds such as Satch, Van Halen, NIN, and Kid Rock. But it should be possible to at least somewhat copy any sound you want.

I can't for the life of me understand how you would use the bels sound as it is just hideous and doesn't have any tune to it, maybe you could use it to do an intro for some computer meltdown or something, because that's what it sounds like. However, it does come with all the normal sounds you would want like flange, distortions galore, Delay etc. The delay's have plenty of alteration to them and you can get a slight echo right up to over a seconds delay time. Even the wah is useable in small doses which is surprising - but then again we get back to quality over quantity...if you want a proper wah then buy yourself a Jim Dunlop or something! There is one cool effect that is a kind of reverse sound. It is a delay attack and builds the sound up - sort like a crying whale sound. Handy for those more atmospheric sounds.

Reliability : 7
I am very easy on any equipment I buy as I figure it is better than having to buy new stuff every couple of months cause I broke it. It is plastic so it probably wont stand up to a pantera fan jumping up and down on it for hours on end but it seems solid enough and the expression pedal is quite solid, and more stiff than many other plastic ones I have tried. I am only going to use it for the odd gig and the rest of the time it will be in my house hooked up to my recording setup so it should last a while.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have'nt had anything go wrong with it yet so I don't know...sorry!

Overall Rating : 10
For value for money this is definately one to try out. I got it while it was on sale from 149 pounds down to 85...so it was even better for me :)
I like the versatility on this machine and after owning a series of separate pedals, i find this so much easier to have around the house. I have also had a Zoom 505 in the past and it was also good for the money but the korg beats it hands down. I did try a series of other effects boxes before i bought this and the range of sounds and quality of both the unit and the sound was far beyond the price. 40 programmable slots means that you can have everything you could hope to have for any type of music you play, and be able to update if your style of interests change.
If this got lost or stolen....mmm...if I could afford it or I was seriously getting a lot of payed gigs then I would consider buying something a lot more up-market...but for the time being I couldn't thinkof a much better unit for my needs! I will also be willing to answer any questions you want on this unit to help you make you mind up on this item.

its actually worth to buy....if u r thinkin of the best sound.....pay for the best price!!!!
Distortion 10 - Sound like some expensive amps almost 80%, furthermore with assist of cabinet simulator....sounds big n cool!!

acoustic 3 - annoying "hiss" ...sound digital....dissappointed....

modulator - good chorus flanger...blaablaa....but some crap....useless like slow attack...

ambience 9 - fairly good

pedal 8 - wah is fairly good but not as crybaby, volume ctrl is very useful, the pitch shifter sucks...

noise reduction 8 - great...but too much will suck off output, which causes less sustain....

This was my first effect/simulation device, and I had it 90% figured out within 30 minutes, and picked up the rest with the manual in my lap. "East of use" is a non-issue with the AX100G.

Sound Quality : 6
I'm using this with a Peavey Special 212 and a Fender Telecaster Thinline, usually played clean with a touch of reverb and sometimes a factory built-in "vintage" setting.

This Korg unit sounds great to me! It's fun to sit down on the floor with it and just see what combinations of effects you can work up - combined with your guitar/pickup settings and the settings on your amp. The possibilities are about endless. The only complaint I have is that the Korg seems heavily biased in favor of harsh distortion stuff - metal, thrash, etc. There's just ONE "Jazz" and "Blues" setting, and that's really about it. Everything else is for the mutiple-face-piercings crowd. I'm not saying it sounds bad, but some more "clean" type settings and simulations would be great to have.

The one thing on this unit that doesn't sound good is the rhythm generator. It has 50 different rhythm tracks to play and practice with, but it sounds WAY too thin and tinny. They really need to deepen it out. I even tried playing it through my high-end stereo system - no dice. You get real, real tired of this, where instead of a deep "thump-boomp, thump-boomp..." percussion, you get this annoying "thwack-CLACK, thwack-CLACK..." It's usable, but just barely. I'm rating it a "6" for the limitations on smoother/cleaner sound options, and the cheapo rhythm sound.

Reliability : 10
No problem here. You could certainly gig with it unless you're a real physical band that's always jumping around the stage and stomping on stuff. The AX100's plastic case wouldn't hold up to that.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed them yet.

Overall Rating : 8
I think I'd buy it again if it were lost or stolen, but I'd find another source of rhythm - maybe a drum machine or keyboard. I love how easy it is to control and change programs, and to save your own. The main thing that annoys me besides the sound of the "whack-CLACK" rhythm is turning it on and off. If it's on batteries, plugging in the amp/guitar turns it on. If it's on the AC adapter (NOT included, and be SURE you get the right kind!!!) , it comes on when you plug in the adapter. This is a real pain, having to get down on the floor and fiddle with disconnecting and reconnecting all the plugs on the back of the unit, JUST to turn it on and off. Jeez, would it KILL these guys to simply have an on/off switch???

The knobs on this unit are a godsend, you can dial up sounds instantly without pushing stupid knobs. The manual on this thing ain't much help but once you learn how to use this thing you won't really need it.The only complaint I have is that you cant change patches while you are in effects mode, but I used to have a Boss ME8, and I use this thing a whole lot more, simply cause I dont have to fiddle around so much trying to dial a good sound.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I use this pedal with an Epiphone SG running into a crate GX65 amp, and so far I am getting good results.I really like the cab simulator, it makes my amp sound bigger than it is and as I really only use basic effects like chorus and delay I think this unit does its job well.I tried plugging it into my yamaha 4-track, but that yielded alot of noise and I had to turn the gain right down.I find the noise reduction alters your sound if you use to much modulation, but for dry tones it is perfect.I play a lot of 90's alternative, RHCP,Nirvana,Foo Fighters etc and you can pretty much nail those tones easily. The U-S high gain is awesome for playing punk Etc and the Brit stack Is good for those 70's kind of tones, if not just that little bit to dark. The are a few amps I'll probably never use like the big muff and the heavy metal amps, and maybe korg could have included a couple of more clean amps.I would definetely use this thing live, as I know some of the sounds on this thing would turn peoples heads. The feedbacker effect on this is particulary surprising, and sounds 100times better than the pitiful feedbacker effect on my old ME8.Yeah the wah sux, but I think you already know that.I mean for the price I paid(399.00)Australian,you absolutely cannot go wrong.

Reliability : No Opinion
I usually bash my gear around a bit, and even though it's made of plastic it seems like it would be alright.I don't think it would withstand long term stage abuse, but as long as it's just me stepping on it then I don't care.I would use this thing without a backup, I'd just load It up with batteries beforehand so If the cable get's knocked out you can still have your tone.I like the fact that this thing runs on batteries.Maybe if I was doing better gigs I'd get a rack system and use this as a backup, but this thing rules for beginner guitar players who like effects.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Ive only had this thing a few weeks,so I haven't had to deal with them, and hopefully I won't have to in the future

Overall Rating : No Opinion
This unit will help you get good tones, and thats what I like about It.I mean having played units by boss,DOD(yuk) and zoom, I mean it's just no competition.I really bought this cause it had an expression pedal, a cab sim, and an amp sim, and it does those things really well.I mean i never really thought of Korg for a multi - effects, but in it's price range this is the best little package i've seen.If it were stolen I'd probably cry and then look around for another one(used). The rythym function is handy, and there are some very usable rythyms, but perhaps korg could have included basslines in there as well, as on the PX3.I used to be very wary of multi effects units, but I find this is the easiest one I've used.I've used this thing more in 6 weeks than I ever used my Boss ME8 and I think that says alot about this thing.

i play a lot of 80's pop metal-van halen -toto-def leppard-mattalica!!!
well the chours, flange and phaser do have a lot of paramters to control now!! korg keep it up! the distortions also sound quite warm.
the reverb is also quite nice. but i have heard better wet delays on zoom gfx707. harmonizer-it is a harmonizer allright but only the maj-min 3d are usefull. you cant set the pitch up and down on the 4th, 5th and major 6th. you can some good harmonized effects for mettalica's-unforgiven lead. Chorus is absolutely shimmering. wah-now again korg sucks--no parameter to control. if there could be processar that was a cross between zoom gfx 707 and korg ax100g it would have been the best on the planet on this price range. but the distortions are pretty diif. new effects feedbacker-cool. who wants to buy an 1000g now.wouldnt give line6 or lexicon on the run. just use this with a stereo solid state amp setup. each amp for some different frequency range. then it will really shine. but korg did a good job this time..at least better than ax1g and ax1000g effects.

Very easy to use. Matrix style controls plus five knobs (level, gain, bass, treble, mid), expression pedal plus two footswitches. There is also a knob for selecting the amp simulation (drive amp in Korg's terminology). The manual is pretty good, although it doesn't have a complete listing of the parameters of the presets. 40 presets (which lean heavily toward high gain or metal) and 40 user settings which are initally duplicates of the oresets. However, each setting has two "channels" so you can switch between clean and distorted during the middle of a song with a footswitch. A second footswitch can turn effects on or off, and the exoression pedal can control many different parameters. This is one of the main reasons I gor this pedal. It is spectacularly well suited for live use (except that it's plastic). In addition to the channel switching, the amp simulation knob has an OFF setting - you can use this box strictly for effects if you like. Even the top of the line AX1500G doesn't have this feature. It also allows you to name patches rather than just have a two digit number.

Sound Quality : 8
I use solid state and tube amps, as well as a little Fender Mini Twin. I play a lot of guitars, but the ones I play the most are a Parker, a Strat Plus Deluxe, a Les Paul, and a Route 101 Solimar Custom. The amp simulation are pretty good, although there are certainly boxes with more or more varied models. I like the classic comp and tube od settings a lot, as well as the top boost. The acoustic setting is not great - both my Johnoon J-Station and Zoom 504 do acoustic better. However, playing my Parker's piezo pickup through this box gives a fairly good acoustic sound. My other complaint is that the compressor is an amp setting rather than an effect which could be used with any setting. I will have to get a compressor pedal, as I use compression a lot. There is very effective noise reduction built in.

Reliability : 7
It is plastic, not the solid metal casing of the higher end Korgs. I would never use it without a backup, but my backup is very small and lightweight - a Korg Pandora PX3. The box seems sturdy enough, and I don't generally do damage to my gear.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know. Haven't needed to deal with them.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
In addition to everything else, there are 50 rhythm patterns built in (great for practice) and the box can be powered by either AC (wish they had included the adapter, but it's nothing special) or batteries. A box of this power which can run off batteries is very unusual. This and my Fender Amp Can make a super portable battery powered setup. It makes a nice live box, and an excellent headphone amp for practice as well. At rhe price I paid (new on eBay), it's a steal.

I have been out of the gear scene for a while, I have recently had my old Carlo Robelli LP overhauled (it was in my Dad's basement for 20 years) and wanted something to practice on, through earphones, after my son was in bed. I was able to fool with it out of the box, but really needed to go throught the manual to get the most out of it. I still haven't used it to what I feel its potential really is due to time restraints (I have to work for a living?) It took a few passes through the book to grasp it, but some of you younger geer heads would probably catch on faster than me. The expression pedal has an on/off switch that is IMPOSSIBLE to use on carpeting. In fact, the whole thing doesn't work well on carpeting. Good thing I use it as a practice amp next to me, not on the floor. There is an input for your cd player which woks well, though I haven't used the phrase trainer yet. It requires turning the expression pedal on and off, I think, and since I'm using it on carpeting..... well, you get the picture!

My last stomp box was a vintage 70's MXR Distortion+ (which, to my horror, I was not able to find in my Dad's basement! I think the battery leaked and I stupidly thew it out years ago!) so this thing blew my mind. So many sounds out of one unit! I bought it to practice through and it is perfect for that (with a built-in rhythm/metronome as well). I haven't used any other multi-effects processor, so I have nothing to compare it to. There are things this thing can do that I know I'll never use, I find myself leaning towards a compressed sound with a touch of chorus and reverb, but the overdrive channels sound good too. It's a great tool to dicover your sound incase you already haven't.

Reliability : 5
I have to agree that this thing looks like it will not last for constant gigging. I use it at home and slip it back into the plastic bag and box when I'm done, so it will last forever for me. I see Korg has similar units (like the AX1500G) for not that much more money ($350 vs $200 for this one) and they have metal housings. If I was a working musician, I would seriously consider going for these models. This would probably work as a backup for the higher model - I can see on the ads for the other ones that the settings are similar - I wouldn't be surprised if the internal electronics weren't the same.

Never used it.

Overall Rating : 7
For what I need, it's perfect. It would probably annoy the hell out of a real pro - he/she should look to the more heavy duty model(s). If I was still 17, I would never leave my room, and never sleep. If it was lost or stolen, I would replace it. I play rootsy rock and blues and am just getting back after long absence to to building a career, a marriage and a family so I would call myself an amateur with promise.

Heaps of options, always a way to make it sound better, lots of options. I use a Jade 75 and a Gibson Epiphone and I can get Whatever sound I want. Acoustic sounds a bit fuzzy. Distotions are great, I can get Bodyjar and thats all I need, Wah is also great although a little confusing to access.

Reliability : 7
It serves me well although if it did stop everthing stops, no backup.

They spent a lot of time trying to up sell and didnt understand that I already knew what kind of pedal I wanted. I would like to keep it for a long time.

I play a bit of everything and I can get most sounds I need. Ive been playing 2 years and its the best multi-effects pedal Ive used. If it were lost Id buy another one the same. Sometimes it cuts out and it pisses me off. It has great distortion and clean and I like the phase trainer. I chose it over the Zoom 808 I think and its because the other ones have a bad rep and there is no amp drive.

Im using a Arial Pro guitar -->my pX1 as tuner---> ax100g and plug it to a small marshall amp. It sounds good especially the US-High Gain, the BriT Stck and the Reverb effect. The metal dist is not that heavy. But last night my band played as a guest band in a contest, when we played a Typ O Negative song using the metal dist and turning on the chorus effect. I think I came close in nailing their sound and the metal dist kick aass especial when i played the lead part. And when we played a Mudvayne song that has a palm muting part, the low end it produce surprise me. Wow!!!! Im not sure what happend last nite but my Metal dist sound incredible. Maybe its the amp of the Bar( a Peavey ). The chorus and phaser are good too. The only weak effect is the wah. If u want a nice one go buy a vox, cry baby or a snarling dog. I notice that most wah on multi effects are weak. Anyway im not really into Wah . I also like the feedback effect and Filter

Its made of hard plastic with a metal plate at the bottom. I think it will last. I dont stomp that hard to make it break. I dont know about those guys who feel disgusted on products who has a plastic part on it. If ur careful with ur equipment(like me), i think it will last long even though its made of plastic. I do not have a back up, well most of the guitar players here in the Philippine, wher not that rich compared to those other players in other countries and we find it difficult to bring on stage those backup gadgets. I was even surprise to find out that most people who give reviews here give so much importance on bringing backup effects when playing on stage. Dont you guys find it a burden in bringing those extra effects. oH i forgot we dont normaly use pedal boards here heheheh =)

Overall... for the price, the sound quality and a truck load of effects i think im satisfied. I have a band and we play almost anything from pop, ballroom,r&b to alternative, metal, and hardcore. Ive been playing for almost 7yrs now and this will help me improve my musical capabilities. I really intended on buying the Rp300 in the states thru my frend who went there but i was short of money at that time. If it were stolen or lost I will go back using my PX1. I would not buy it again considering that every year there are new and improve effects out there with prices under $200.

I don't like to sit down with a manual and figure out how to use a device like this, so I just started tinkering with and found it difficult to use at first, this being my first multi-effects processor. If you have used one previously, this should be no problem. And after the first couple of days I thought I had it down and then discovered a new feature about a month later. Editing patches is very easy, especially after spending some time with it. After you get used to it, you can write a patch in about five seconds. It won't be great or anything because the key with this product is taking time to sculpt your sound. The manual won't be alot of help; I started reading after I had it for a few hours and it actually confused me a little bit more than I already was.

Sound Quality : 9
I play a shitty but good sounding Cortley LP-copy into the AX100G which inputs to a Peavey Trans-Tube Blazer 158. There is absolutely no unwanted noise with this pedal. At first I thought there was but that was only because I hadn't looked at my reverb setting in a while and it was half-way up. Once I turned it all the way down there was no difference between the US Hi-Gain and Acoustic amp models when there was no playing going on. This allows you to shift through the patches without any noise. The many built-in effects on this machine sound great, particularly the filter and delay. The others, which include wah, chorus, phaser, flanger, and the rest of the effects usual suspects sound pretty decent too. One odd, but very welcome, addition to the bunch is the ring modulator. It can be operated with the built-in expression pedal or simply set to specific parameters. One thing this unit does very well is distortion. There are many different distortion amp models, each with their own nuances. You can get a great metal sound from this baby, which I use to imitate the sound of Tool very successfully, and a pretty decent classic distortion as well. The lighter distortions work great to just dirty up your clean sound a little. There's even an amp model bypass so that you can just use the built-in effects. You can also bypass the entire unit and it becomes a chromatic tuner.

Reliability : 10
I've never had even a bit of trouble with it. One time my brother stepped on the AX100G with both feet, putting every bit of his nearly 200 lbs. on it and we heard a disturbing cracking sound. My heart sank but once I inspected it I found that nothing was broken and that the AX100G still worked perfectly. Still not exactly sure what the hell that sound was however...

Haven't dealt with Korg yet.

Overall Rating : 9
I play mostly metal/hard rock with lots of clean, pristine sounding parts injected into the grinding assault of my metal portions. I've been playing for close to seven years but only seriously for a year and a half. I previously used a Danelectro Fab Tone to get my metal sound but it just was too noisy and static-sounding. The AX100G works wonders in producing a great sound out of a shitty guitar hooked into a pretty shitty amp. If it were stolen, I'd track down the fucker who did it and cut his balls off. Or maybe just get a POD. I wouldn't buy it again simply because I'd like to try something new rather than spend good money to get something I had previously owned. I did alot of looking around at other multi-effects processors and found this one to be the best in my price range. I wish its classic distortion amp model didn't sound so thin and glassy and had more of the fat, warm tone achevied by the US Hi-Gain model, but with all that this thing has packed into it, I really shouldn't complain. The really great thing about it is that I could probably tinker with it for awhile and find a really good classic rock sound. It goes without saying that the AX100G has been a great help in crafting songs and I would recommend it to anyone who wants great effects and amp modeling at an affordable price.

Took me some time to get the right sound (am not always as clear as I should be), but it's not really complicated. I think Korg should have made dome more footswitches on it, for eacht program in the bank one, couse switching through the presets can' be done really quickly. You have to program it rather clever to make it logical and quick.

Sound Quality : 8
I use it with a bedrock all tube amp, an Jackson PS 4 and a Gibson Les Paul. Most modulationeffects are pretty good,no noises, only the feedbackeffect sucks. The ampsimulation is not bad, but when it's used witha an solidstate amp, it it definately artificial, not really the way it has to be. I tried it for recording and pluggd it in my computer. for the sake of you ears, dont do that, it sounds bad. However in combination with my amp it sounds rather decent. I think that Korg for the next edition of this pedal an passive bypass sould use, as well for the ampsimulation "off". That should make the modulationeffects to sound better. For use at home it is pretty good, but onstage it is not rally the choice to make.

You can pretty well reproduce the sound of bands eg Europe, Bon Jovi, but for example, Guns n Roses is impossible to get. I don't think I 'll buy it again, but it has provided me with rater mutch fun, so it's not so bad. If you'ra a serious onstage player, don't buy it, at least not for onstage uses, but for use at home, it is not an bad choice.

Pretty simple multi-effects pedal. Something like 3 effects and 40 presets that are editable and 40 programable presets. Built in tuner, drum tracks and phrase trainer. Only 200 clams...Pretty cool.

Sound Quality : 8
I use this in 2 situations: In from of my Peavey Classic 30 amp and connected to my computer so I can use my CD Rom MP3 guitar lessons and play along with them into a set of headphones.

My main guitar now is my Carvin AE185, which rocks.

The core effects (distortion, filter, chorus, flanger, etc) work great. You can go from Jazz to Metal in a few pedal clicks. Some of the effects, like the octaves and minor key things are very metalic and harsh. I don't use em.

Let's get down to brass tax: For $200, this thing rocks. It's not an amp simulator like a POD, but it is more than a simple multi-effects pedal. The great thing is that it sounds awesome in front of my amp. Had a POD, and it wasn't meant for that! Through my tube amp, I get nice warm tones. Played directly into my headphones, I get more of your cold digital sound. This thing in from of a solid state amp might not produce the same warm tones I get through a tube...try it before you buy it!

It's made of plastice, so I would be hesitant about gigging with this thing solo. I think it's more of a fun home unit. Korg makes higher end models that are a little more pricey but much more durable.

I'm an intermediate guitarist who plays at home, everything from acoustic-sing-along pop, to jazz, and to blues. I wanted a fun and good sounding multi effects pedal to both place in front of my amp and to practice with through headphones. This thing, with it's gazillion effects and 10 amp simulators (mostly different kinds of distorion sounds) is awsome. Plus, you get a good acoustic simulator, a tuner, many backing drum tracks, and a phrase trainer. For $200, this little pedal is a delight. I had a POD, but took it back the next day because, while I was impressed with the authentic amp simulations, I wanted kind of my own sound -- my guitar, pumped through the Korg and into my amp gives me my unique tone, which I love. Plus, it's super fun. It is a fantastic value.

super simple to use--very intuitive interface, and the channel-switching and on/off effects feature is excellent. The
manual is pretty good too, but this thing is so simple you won't
need to spend much time looking at the manual.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using this with a PRS McCarty and a Boogie MKIII. The presets are OK but some tweaking improves the patches (especially distorted ones) a lot. The people who complain the distortion patches don't sound good should tweak the tone and gain levels. It doesn't matter what you're using, if you have that scooped-mid tone with tons of gain, your guitar WILL disappear when the drums and bass get started. No, it doesn't sound like a
Marshall stack etc. but that's the wrong comparison. It sounds
a lot better than most of the stomp boxes out there.

Excellent value. I compared it to other multieffects and I found it easier to use and better sounding than comparably priced units, plus it has more interesting effects (love the ring modulator, variable speed vibrato and trem, and pan). The channel-switching feature (you can set two channels per patch and switch between them) is great. I would definitely buy it again.

U can get a real good sound out of this thing straight away and it is flexable with the sort of noize you want. Theres 63 diferent effects in total and it has 80 programs (this should be enough!). There are 40 preset plus 40 user programs and I think I can get just about any sound I want because of the amount of editing you can do on it. The manual is good at explaining what it can do but whether you understand it is a complately different thing!, you probably won't if you have never had an effects pedal befor like me. I personally bought it because sounds wicked and apparently the price was originally about the same as the big AX1000G (next model up) but they had to bring it down other wise the AX1000G would not be sold, so it is good value for money. I also bought it because it looks the bizz! Oh yeah, one more thing, like some other guy who also reviewed this pedal said that you must be careful about the power supply because is does not come in the package, so make sure you buy it seperately! It has all the plugs sockets - Line/headphone, dual-outputs and stereo phone jack. There are alsoo some really cool lights on it that move when you operate the expression pedal.

Sound Quality : 10
I was over the moon when I got this thing and had to get it home quickly. I play some old guitar made by Vantage and some little Vantage 10watt amp and even with just this cheap setup I love this baby!! it is not noisy at all and would sound the dogs when plugged into some serious guitar and amp. It is not noisy at all. All the drive amp effects, 10 of them, sound absolutly wicked and all the porgrams, 80 of them, sound great too. It has 50 rhythm beats including a metronome and can all be adjusted to your desired tempo. There is one noise program called Feed back and let me tell you this.... This noise sounds absolutly MENTAL! with the expression pedal that acts as a wah, volume control pitch shifter thing, especially when you edit it to your own sound. Basically it is just so much fun, you can't put it away. There are really nice acoustic sounds that are ultra clean and can all be modified, which I love (especially 'Filter') and also the most crazy and mental heavey crunch sounds for both kinds of music. I play anything from rock, heavey like Led Zeppelin/Hendrix to jazz and soft/clean stuff like Pink Floyd and is all works a dream for me.

Reliability : 10
I can trust this pedal, I relie on korg because they make some really wicked products other than effects pedals and profesionals use their gear. I can't wait to gig with this baby, I will gig as soon as I get my Fender Strat and Fender Deluxe 90 amp. There is no need for back up with this and this thing has metal chassis and is quite strong.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've only had it about 2 weeks and there are no problems yet and I don't think there will be. Never needed to deal with korg.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for almost 6 years and this goes perfect with my style. If it was stolen I would feel very sorry for the thief, he must enjoy living in hospitals, plugged into a drip and life support machine. I would definetly buy it again, I like it so much more than the Boss and digitech (stupid fuzzy stuff) gear because it is more basic and does just as nice sounds for about #300 cheaper and i like all those lights on it that the others don't have. It is great, I can make my noizes compleatly unique and modified to my own desirable sound with all the knobs and buttons. I think this is deffinately worth trying out, yo just won't be dissapointed.

Ease of Use : 7
The Korg AX100G is one of the most user-friendly stompbox modelers out there. The presets do a well rounded job of showcasing the potential of the programmability, as well as the variety of sounds. Anyone who is used to an amplifier will find that tweaking the gain section is exactly what they are used to, however, when tweaking effects, one does need to know how effects work. It's not brain surgery, but it does take a learning curve. In particular is the choice of time-based effects, like chorus or reverb. Not every combination will work together, but there are enough choices to get a very close representation of the sound that you are looking for.

Sound Quality : 5
The sound quality is exactly what you would expect from a multi effects processor for under $200.00. It's not anything that Lexicon would have to worry about, but it is good enough for any guitarist to practice and jam with. There is a light to heavy compression with every patch except bypass, and even then, your tone will be modified slightly. To my ears, it sounds about as good as a standard CD, without being mastered. The manual claims full bandwidth 20Hz-20kHz range, but that is a stretch to say the least. While it may accept an input at any frequency, it comes a far cry from actually reproducing or processing any frequency. It will do very well with a guitar, while providing adequate tones, it does tend to distort heavily with lower frequencies beyond that of a standard guitar. If you use a 7 string tuned down, you really won't notice it until you try to transpose, which begs to mention, the pitch transposer SUCKS!
There is a very unnatural, metallic ringing tone to it, which completely alters your tone. If you are looking for a synthesized texture, that's cool, but if you want to hear true harmonization, look for Lexicon or T.C. Electronic. Also, if you are going to rely on the Phrase Trainer, you'd be better off taking an Ear Training course, because this thing is useless. It compresses and delays the phrase you are trying to learn, until it is all but undecipherable at the slower speeds. But, that's what samplers are for. One problem that I've had is interfacing it with an effects loop. WARNING! If you have a tube amp with channel switching, you'll be tap dancing with this thing. It does NOT like a high gain input at all. You have to do too much with the amp simulations and tone controls, and it WILL suck your tone like a two dollar hoe on Sunday during halftime.

Reliability : 6
I would be inclined to gig with the Korg, but only in a controlled setting. If there's a mosh pit or flying beverages involved, you're in for another 200 bucks. But in practice or rehearsal, it's perfect. It does seem pretty sturdy, but then again, so did a lot of stompboxes that I've dealt with, so use common sense. This is not a road-worthy piece of gear. Use it in the capacity that it was meant for: a practice tool, something that is very portable, and something to get a simulation of a specific tone, not a cornerstone of your setup. If you rely on this for tone, you'll be disappointed, but if you use it as a swiss army knife of cool (just cool, not mind-blowing) sounds, you will be surprised.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with Korg, as a matter of fact, this is the first Korg product that I've purchased. I was always a little leary of predominantly synth based companies dipping into guitar gear, but for the price and the features, who can go wrong? I mean, come on, it's not the next 2290, but what the hell can you expect for 200 bucks?

Overall Rating : 6
I play primarily blues and jazz. I mostly fuse different styles in my blues playing, such as hard rock, rockabilly, classical, avant-garde, funk and just about anything else I can grab in the heat of battle. For what I want it to do, such as being a cool headphone amp after a gig, or for late night practicing and home recording sessions, and a scratchpad of tones for later use, this thing is pretty kick-ass. I play a Carvin Bolt-T Lefty, and it has been modded to the max. It can sound like everything from an old Gibson ES-400 to a pre CBS Strat to a '59 Goldtop and everything in between. I've found every amp simulation to be a relative mimic, but not a dead-on replicant. I think that a lot of people are looking for that in a multi-effects whizbang do it all processor, but they are not going to find it anywhere. First of all, you have to KNOW what these different amp models sound like as compared to the real thing. How many people out there KNOWS what a '62 Bluesbreaker sound like, or a '59 Bassman, or a Super Reverb without owning one? Sure, you can get the thing to SOUND like a Mesa Dual Rectifier, but only if you KNOW what one sounds like. Have you noticed yet that I didn't mention the Acoustic Simulator? Wanna know why? Because it's not worth mentioning, that's why! Think of it as a HIGH compression effect with a LOT of highs that distort your tone. Chorus, flange, phase, and reverb are cool, though, don't get me wrong. At this point in technology, it's really hard to fuck these effects up. On the other hand, what is it about pitch transposers and wahs, that are so easy for manufacturers to completely butcher? Really now, why doesn't someone take a look inside a VOX Wah pedal and see what's really going on, and then put it in a multi-effects pedal? This is the last multi-effects that I'm going to buy, simply because everything else is too overpriced for what it does, and I am saving my money up for a dedicated stompbox pedalboard and a dedicated rack with separates. The Korg AX100G will get you thinking about separates if you don't have them, but in the meantime, it will keep you happy and experimenting with the large variety of tones available.

Running Fender Fat Strat through the unit (two single, one humbucker).
Noise level is low, and when using noise reduction built-in, no noise at all. FX are great, but THE PITCH SHIFTER/HARMONIZER IS WEAK. Mean, it does it's job, but with a delay and it sounds cropped. That was disappoining. But for the money I paid it's worth of it! Will get a Digitech Whammy for pitch-shifter things.

I got this as a Christmas present and immediately grabbed my guitar. I went through all the set patches and familiarized myself with it in about 1/2 an hour. Then I grabbed the manual and in about 10 minutes I started making my own patches. Then I remembered that Guitar World started publishing POD settings for the songs they were publishing. So I grabbed my latest Jimi Hendrix issue and after about 5 minutes of translating I was getting some AWESOME tones. I liked the buttons use push to choose the effect to set. I have an RP-7 and it's a bit time consuming to change. The thing that bugged(and keeps bugging) me is the knobs. You can't tell where the setting is until after you move it. But the "ORIG" light helps. I like the fact that you can name a patch. That way I don't have try and remember what # on this pedal will get me what sound. The dual channel feature kicks ass!!! It's like twice the sounds at no charge. And the LED meter for the pedal is kind of cool. Although having the pedal stay the same even after you change patches can suck. You turn down the chorus for example and then change patches and now you don't have any sound cause you've turned down the volume. Pain.

Sound Quality : 7
I use any of three guitars: Washburn 340 with H/S/H(SD Parallel Axis pickups), Warmoth maple Strat with SD Alnico 2's, B.C. Rich with one bridge humbucker(DiMarzio Tone Zone). It usually goes into headphones but might go into Fostex FD-8, or into my Marshall 8008 into a Fender 4x12 cab. The problem I had was volume. I had to turn the master volume all the way up AND the master on all of the patches in order to get some good sound. I like to have some good headroom. The effects were cool. Except the ring modulator, I don't think I'll ever find a use for that. The feedback maker was neat. I wouldn't use it for any recording stuff. It is fun goofing around in practice with. The one sound I absolutely LOVE is the AC30 Top Boost. MAN is that one killer distortion. The acoustic sound is a little weak, but that's why I have a hand-made acoustic. Like a previous post I have to agree with the lameness of half the pre-sets. But they are a good starting point.

It seems pretty well built. The kobs are a bit inset so I'll be less likely to bang 'em off. Although knowing me I'll find a way. It's been banged around, stepped on, dropped, kicked, and all types of things in my studio room and it's still tickin'. Plastic chassis doesn't bother me. All plastic pedals are the same, even if they're attached to metal.

This'll cover some good sounds. Makes solo pratice more fun. It's alot easier to emulate sounds, via Guitar World. Been playing 'bout 7 years. I own over 11 guitars and basses. If I lost it or it was stolen I would rather get an RP-300. For only one reason, it lets me control the gain. I am however in love with the vintage patch on the Korg. It's worth keeping just for that. I should add that the rhythm trainer is better than most. Some pretty good beats using half-way decent kits.

I couldn't wait to get this baby home...popped it out of the box and DAMN...no AC adaptor! The salesman told me it was included. Nope. Oh well... I pulled 4 AA batteries out of my camera and gave it a run through...WOW! I'm impressed! This thing is what I refer to as a "latest generation" effects unit. I can't see anybody equaling the features (at this price) that KORG has...for another 6 months, that is. I'm not too easily impressed, but the AX100G made me a believer. In a matter of minutes I had matched the guitars that are on my favorite music...easy and satisfying. I'm not used to things working so easily.

The manual is very well written...not overly wordy and in plain English...other manufacturers should look at it and LEARN.

I'm playing my Fender Tele, triple pick-up, 5 way switch through the KORG, and am able to get numerous subtle, but distinct tonal variations. My amp has an EQ built in, so I have a lot of parameters to fool with...better than not having enough!

Noise? Not a problem. The unit has switchable, adjustable Noise Reduction available. When using the headphone jack output to my Sony VR-6 'phones, it is extremely quiet with most effects. I haven't recorded with it yet, but I expect it to be very clean. It has a pre-amp circuit, also.

I've been using it everyday for 2 weeks now, and in about 10 minutes, I can match the sounds of Nirvana, Steve Miller and Pat Metheny and anyone else I care to. That's what I was hoping for when I bought this unit.

Reliability : 10
I use all kinds of electronic equiptment (radio, digi cameras, AV etc.) and I'm impressed with the quality of the switches, case and knobs. Yep...it's made of plastic...so is my Glock pistol and it holds up well, too!

It is quite light in weight, and using it on a carpeted floor doesn't work too well. It should be placed on a hard surface. My feet are REALLY big (size 17) but without shoes on, it's just fine. I don't want to scratch it with grit from my shoes, anyway. I'd hate to play a gig WITHOUT it.

No malfunctions, no need for service, so far.

I amuse myself by trying to play ALL types of music. There are really only TWO types of music, anyway...

Good and Bad!

I've been playing guitar and bass for about 12 years, mainly with an assortment of straight acoustics...
Effects are just too fun to ignore; I'm having more fun playing now than ever.

If my KORG was lost/stolen? I'd be off to Guitar Center to buy another IMMEDIATELY!

I compared it to an assortment of typical Boss pedals and the DigiTech RP200 in the store, but the KORG seems about 3 steps ahead of all of them. Just like computer technology...twice the features for the same price every 6 months.

Favorite feature? Probably the Feedback circuit...it'll send chills up your spine when you first hear it...the GOOD kind of chills! It can also put out some really clean sounds through headphones; that's a great feature when you like to stay up til' the crack of dawn jamming to music...Someday I'll have a sound-proof music room, but until then...

Any decent music store will have a KORG AX100G for you to demo...check it out and post you comments here when you buy it...I'd like to see if you think it's as great as I think it is.

You've heard of "buyer remorse?" That's when you plunk down your money and about a day later you're wishin' you'd have bought something else.

I DO NOT have that feeling with the KORG AX100G!

Try it...you'll like it!

So far this is the easiest multieffects pedal to program that I've found. You select a "dedicated" button and turn one of the 5 knobs. When you get the sound you want press the save button twice, and you're done.
By "dedicated" I mean there is a button dedicated to each module. By comparison, with the Zoom GFX707, 505 (old version) and the Boss ME30 you have to press one button to let the machine know you want to edit, then press another pair of buttons to scroll to the module you want. Then with the '707 you have to turn one of three knobs. With the 505 and the '30, you press more buttons to change the parameters. With all three you press the save button twice (I think) to record.
With the AX100G when you press one of the buttons, you already let it know you want to edit AND which module you want to edit. Real easy. You could almost edit onstage, it's so quick.

One thing necessary to praise. This is the ONLY one in this price range that allows you to easily change the way you switch effects. In any one of its 80 patches you can change the mode, so by pressing on a footswitch you can TOGGLE the distortion in or out or even modify the amount of distortion. Pressing the other footswitch will allow you to TOGGLE the modulation effect, ambience effect or both, depending on how you've preset it.
This is like changing your multi-effects pedal into single stompers. Very cool, IMHO. The ME30 attempts this but fails miserably. The '30 changes a patch into stompers using its five footswitches, but here's the glitch. You have to stoop to press finger buttons to COPY the patch you want to do this with into the "MANUAL" patch, then press the SMALL finger button to turn on the manual mode.
With the AX100G, you can select ANY patch, then hold the mode footswitch for a second, and you're ready. And you do this standing.

Oh, yeah, a previous reviewer wrote that you can't tell what the previous settings are. Well, you can. While turning any knob, when you get to the original setting the display shows an "ORIG" icon. It's there but you have to look for it. It would have been far better to print the numbers in the manual, a la the manuals for the Pandora, or ME30, for a couple of examples. (You only get a listing of which effects are on, or would be on.)

I've just had this for a couple or three weeks, but I have to mention that I haven't spent enough time with it. The manual seems to admit that its REM modeling is modeled after stomp box distortions and not amp sounds. It's enough for me. I don't use the really heavy distortions, but I gravitate toward the "tube od". The tube od lacks the 3-dimensional feeling of real tubes, but I also don't have to carry a tube amp around to get that sound. It may not be close for some, but it's close enough for me.
I also will favor the clean sounds of the acoustic and classic comp.
This does have a couple of sounds that no one (in this price range) has so far. One's the feedback effect. I haven't mastered it yet, but I like it. The guitar sounds like it's about to feedback and when you hold a note you allow the feedback to continue. By pushing down on the pedal you intoduce some vibrato into the sound. I'm also set on modifying it so the feedback happens ONLY when you push down on the pedal (for that infinite sustain sound).
The other effect is the intelligent harmonizer. I haven't worked with this one, but at least it's there for when I get around to messing with it.

I don't know what's up with these jokers who put down anything made of plastic. Maybe they should get better roadies! I think short of using it as a bat when I play baseball (or using it as the ball in a football game), this AX100G should last awhile. I have to admit however the plastic on a GFX707 looks much thicker, and heavier-made.
But really, what ARE these guys doing with their effects pedals? Or can we say anything in a family-oriented web page like this? Maybe somebody's job is not to play his/her axe, but to jump around a lot.
That being said, I have to say that I like the plastic because I take care of my gear, and due to a bad back (too much gear carrying in the past!), I appreciate the occasional light piece of gear.
One thing however, the dial which selects the model of distortion has a detent for each model. On mine, however, the acoustic model is not placed on its detent. It's close to the detent for the "classic comp". In short I have two "off"s on the first two detents and the third is classic comp. I have to fiddle with it to get the acoustic model.
It's not too big a deal with me, I guess, since I didn't return it to the store. (But I did knock off a point for reliability.)

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know, let's see if they call or email me about my misplaced detent. ;)

Overall Rating : 9
I would give it an 8, because (and this is probably my fault) I've yet to program any sounds which will knock my socks off. Maybe I need to get some other people's patches to get a more informed and refined view of WHAT to program and not HOW to program.
The manual is very thin, and you really don't need it to play with this thing. It is that easy to set up. However, what they missed is a listing of their preset patch parameters to give us users some insight.
The ability of changing the patch up and patch down footswitches to toggle switches at a moment's notice (pure genius!), plus the relative ease of using the AX100G raises the rating to 9.

Would I get it again? Probably, depending on how I lose it.
Would I use it without a backup? Hey, effects are like icing on the cake. All you need is a guitar (and backup), a cable (and backup) and an amp (and backup). And AC (and backup).

Easy to use, but I just didnt like the knobs. Maybe that's just me, but they seemed to get in the way. But a lot better than others I've seen. The manual was pretty basic, but straightforward. Editing patches is very 505ish, just set and go.

Sound Quality : 3
The distortions suck. They just don't do anything. very sythetic sounding and bland. I'd much rather go and buy an amp and head (if I had the money.) Stomp boxes may be untidy and all, but sooo much better. I use it with a marshall JCM900 with a Crate 412 cab. the efx were ok, but again, I'd rather buy seperate boxes.

Reliability : 2
No! Plastic. Sheesh, it'll break off within three seconds! I wouldnt trust this at a gig. Esp. a smaller type club or so. Just not sturdy enough. I'd rather have something like the Zoom GFX-8 in its metal case.

Customer Support : 9
Customer support is great actually. They responded really quickly to any complaints or anything. I havent gotten it repaired or anything, because I returned it within a few days of use.

Overall Rating : 4
I play jazz/blues/metal, you name it, I play it. Some effects like the ringman were really weird, but cool,.and the funky effect was a great wah-type, but still, all in all, the effects just didnt cut it. But for the price, not bad, but if you have a wee bit more money to shell out, try the Boss GT-3 or Xoom GFX-8. If it were stolen, I probably would be mad, cause I would have lost about 200 bucks, but I would not replace it with the same thing. I'd get something different. It gets in the way sometimes, and again, you just cant depend on that plastic. It'll bust soon enough, even if it doesnt take a ton of abuse. Again, I'd rather get a Zoom GFX-8, or a Boss GT-3. Or maybe the Digitech RP2000.

I thought this unit was very easy to use. I did sit down and quickly go through the very brief manual, but it didn't tell me much that wasn't obvious from the face of the unit. Once I started programming my own patches, it was a piece of cake. The nob array makes it easy to play with every parameter to get the sound you want. My only complaint is that there is no way to look at a factory patch and tell what the individual effects settings are. You can tell which effects are in use (also printed in the book), but you cannot tell what the rate or depth are. The only time this was a problem was when I was trying to create my own phaser and flanger patches from scratch.
For live situations, the effects mode is very nice. For the patch you are in, with a push of a stomp button a) turn off the effects or reverb in real time, and b) change the amp setting so you can go from accoustic to light distortion, or light distortion to heavy lead without having to change patches

Sound Quality : 9
I am using a Washburn Idol-64DL with dual humbuckers straight into the AX100G and then into a PA or headphones for practice. The unit has a broad array of basic sounds provided by the amp settings. While I enjoy occaisionally playing with the heavier distortions, I will be using the acoustic, clean and mild distortion settings the most. In my setup, all of the patches sounded pretty reasonable. The harmonizing patches had a little delay, but I can't see myself using them anyway. The main effects that I plan to use--stereo chorus, flanger, phase shifter--all seem to work well and give me the sound I was looking for. The reverbs also come in a nice variety and tone. The acoustic amp setting is decent. It doesn't sound like my Taylor through a mike, but it is useful and sounds as good as some acoustic-electrics I have heard, especially if you add some chorus in.

Reliability : 9
The unit is made of a hard plastic that looks pretty durable. I'm using mine at church for leading worship, so I don't plan on stomping on it too hard. One nice feature on this unit is it has cable hooks and paths for the input cable and the power adaptor. This should prevent accidently unplugging the unit while in use. I give it a 9 only because it is not metal.

I have not dealt with Korg. But I would highly recommend Accent Music. They have always been helpful and often have very competative pricing. See them at www.accentmusic.com.

Overall Rating : 9
As mentioned before, I will be using this for praise and worship music at church. I have been playing for about twelve years, starting on a Washburn D12-12 and just last year picking up a Taylor 710. This is my first electric setup, so I can only compare it to the tone quality I have heard others use.
I wanted a portable unit that would provide all the effects I would need in one box and let me plug a CD player and headphones in for practice. Additional perks in this box are the built in tuner, phrase trainer and the rhythm trainer (useful for practice but not live). I looked at all of the multi-effects processors from Korg, Digitech, DOD, Boss, etc. I didn't have a chance to look at the new Digitech RP-200, which looks like it is similar to this unit. The AX100G is the only one I could find in my price range that had all of the live features I wanted (assignable pedal) and was small enough to transport easily and had a CD input and phrase trainer for practice.
This unit has pretty much all of the features I was looking for, but didn't cost as much (and was not as large) as other units having the same features. I would buy this unit again.

Right out of the box, this unit is easy to use, the manual is very straightforward. Most of the presets suck (Does anyone really need a Kid Rock or Korn patch?) but it's easy enough to create your own, and I was impressed with the level of tweaking available for each effect, and I like the idea of having two drive channels for each patch.

Sound Quality : 7
My setup is an Epiphone Les Paul 100 through an Ibanez 25r Tone Blaster. The sound is generally very clean, unless you use certain drive setings like Brit Stack, or US HiGain, but even then you can just dial back the gain a little to clear it up. I play a lot of classic rock and britpop (an odd mix, I know) and I've been able to get most of the sounds I want out of this pedal. The only effects I dont really have a use for are the weird tuning type ones like Maj3up Maj3down,5th, etc.

Reliability : 8
It's made mostly out of plastic, but it feels pretty sturdy, with a good solid expression pedal and responsive footswitches. It should hold up for a while as long as you don't jump up and down on it. I've read a lot of reviews of this type of unit where people are concerned about stomping it too hard and breaking it - all I can say is use some common sense - you dont have to put your entire weight on a switch to make it work. I haven't gigged with it yet, but I think it would hold up fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to get help on any of the Korg stuff I've had, so I've got no opinion. They do offer replacement manuals on their website though.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, I really like this pedal. It also makes a pretty good practice tool with headphones. My only real complaint(and this pretty much goes for most multi effect processors these days) is that out of 80 patches available (40 user/40 preset) probably HALF of the presets are some kind of distortion. It would be nice to see more innovation in these presets. And please Korg, If you're gonna load up the presets with signature artist sounds, how about some classic sounds on there next to the Static X, Kidrock, Korn, Limp Bizkit patches? What's next - The TeenAngst100G pedal? Not everybody sings like the Cookie Monster. I would probably buy this pedal again if it got lost or stolen.
