kinda easy to use ... editing isnt hard but there could be greater control over effects parameters i guess ... more intuitive stuff like speed/depth controls for the chorus etc .. the manual is ok .. makes using the unit real easy unless youre a total idiot ...

on the whole .. the sound's great for this price .. korg claims it has 69 effects but thats bullshit .. they count "chorus 1" "chorus 2" etc . as a seprate effect .. i use this with an ibanez rg and a marshall valvestate .. combination gives me some good clean but crappy distortion ( yes im actually saying this ... the marshall distortion on my amp SUCKS big time .. more of a punk style distortion than metal .) however ..with the korg this setup really comes alive .. i get great clean sounds with chorus from this baby .. most of the modulation effects are great ..the chorus is deep and swirly .. the phasers are good and the flanger is one of the best ive heard in a multieffects unit .. however i cant say the same for the wah/whammy/ring modulator though .. the ring modulator sounds like shit .. whammy/pitch shifter is so artificial sounding its unusable and the wah has a total lack of sweep range .. not to mention any parameters to edit for it .. the reverbs and delays are ok to me ..im not a really big fan of using them so i really dont know .. heehee the distortions are great .. although like one of the previous reviewers said , its difficult to get much low end out of it .. i usually compensate by turning up the bass a little more on my amp .. i can get a good general all purpose metal sound out of it that works from things like Slayer to KoRn as well as a nice randy rhoads lead tone among other things ... top marks here it also has a sampler/loop function which really has nothing to be said about it ... the sample time ( about less than 2 seconds ) is WAY too short to be usable

well .. its made of plastic ... i wouldnt stomp on it like i do to a boss .. besides the two switches are WAY too close together to do anything other than tap lightly =) the expression pedal is rather stiff though .. when using it for the wah it has a tendency to slap the whole box up and down sometimes .. may not be good for the insides i guess ..

well .. its good value for money considering its low price .. if you buy it for anything do it for the flanger/distortion ... its nice for a beginner ..

The AX1G is pretty simple to operate. Reading the manual is not necesary, but it is a good reference tool. I haven't tried editing as yet, but it seems straight forward.

I use the AX1G with a Fender Standard Strat and a Fender Frontman Reverb Amp. I noticed a slight feedback noise when I'm not playing but that may be from my cables. The overall sound quality is pretty decent for the reasonable price of US$150 @ Guitar Center. Korg says there are 69 effects, but some are just variations of a particular effect like Chorus which has 4. The 69 effects is just a marketing ploy. I only recently bought it so I have not been able to examine all the effects extensively, but I am truly empressed by its range. An excellent "bang" for the buck.

Can't really say anything as yet. Will update after a month. I'm not in a band so I don't need a backup for it.

I liked Korg's website, it was very imformative. I couldn't find Boss' or Digitech's sites, but I saw these pedals at the store. Hopefully I wouldn't have any problems with the module.

I play mostly alternative, some pop/rock, and the AX1G has expanded my range tremedously!!! I haven't been playing really long, only a few months but when I saw the AX1G multieffects, I just had to try it out. Beside the Strat and Amp, I also have a Ibanez Tubescreamer (It can't compare to the AX1G, I hope I can get rid of it). If the AX1G were to be stolen I don't think I could afford to get another one :), but I would probably get it again. My favorite effect so far is "aqua". Some of the distortions are dull though, but overall it's really great. I compared it with the Boss ME-30 and Digitech RP-3, both looked more appealing and sturdier, but the cost factor played an important part in my decision. The ME-30 was about US$250.00 and the RP-3 about US$300.00. For its price the AX1G is a steal of a deal!!! I can't think of anything else it needs, except maybe some extra memory. It helps with making variations in my music.

Editing patched is difficult, because you have to have the unit in just the right lighting, or you won't be able to read the cheap little display they put in this thing. As far as getting a good sound, it depends on your style and what you are looking for. The manual sucks.

I am using either a Washburn BT-8, Yamaha SE603MA or Martin Sigma Acoustic/Electric into either a Crate GX-40C+ or A Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The unit is noisy on some settings, silent on others. If you are looking for good distorted sounds, forget about it. The distortions are to harsh and tinny souding. It seems like you can never get enough bottom end, no matter what you do. However, if you are going for some nice clean sounds, you will be able to get some nice chorus/phaser/tremolo effects going. Delay is decent. Wah is terrible.

I don't know about reliability, I returned it after 3 weeks. It seems like it would not last too long, as it is made entirely of plastic and the expression pedal feels like it is going to break off everytime you use it.

If this thing were stolen, I track the guy down, and give him the box and receipt, because I know he'd want to return it and get something better. Seriously though, before I bought the AX1G, I had the Korg 411fx, which is a MUCH better unit. The sound of the 411fx blows this thing out of the water. Take my advice, if you're looking for a cheap multi fx unit, save yourself $40 and buy the 411fx, or look around at other products. I returned the AX1G and picked up a Digitech RP-3, and so far I am much happier with it.

Great product! The factory patches looked kinda cool at first (they're mostly named after some famous guitarist...) but after fooling around a little, I reckoned they weren't what I wanted so I've basically edited everything. Editing was easy, despite the fact that this was my first multi-effect pedal. The manual was kinda helpful, but I didn't really nead it much.

Not being very rich, I play through Fender Squires.(amp & guitar) Still, I am able to get reallly good sounds with the pedal. Most of the effects rock, especially the wah.(try it with overdrive!) There are a few distortions to choose from, but I prefer the heavier ones. I'm into Metallica a lot and I can get great Metallica(Kirk Hammett) sounds by raising the chorus. The best part about the AX1G is that it is not as buzzy or noisy as the Zoom 505, even when the adaptor is used. I tried out the Zoom 505 at the shop and it was really noisy. I had given up all hope of buying a multi-effect when this beauty was brought out. Now this is what I call quality. Whammy effects can be easily programmed and the pitch can be raised up or down 2 octaves!

Duh! It has never failed on me. However, all cheap stuff are full of catches! This ones made of plastic and is kinda flimsy. However, if you don't go stomping on it like You would usually do on a stomp-box, then I guess it's cool. For me, I can't afford backup so I can't really complain. The best part about the AX1G is that the patches you store in won't be erased, until you reset the pedal to factory setup, unlike the Zoom 505.

This is a good deal for your money as it also includes a volume control pedal. If you use a Zoom 505 multi-effects, you would still need to get a control pedal to fully utilise the pedal. I have had this for a couple of months and I have become so used to it that I don't know how I managed to survive without it. With this on the market, I suppose other companies like Boss and Digitech will be out of competition. Why pay $500 when you can get quality stuff of $200? This is definitely a great bargin for money. So what are u waiting for? Buy it now!

It's fairly easy to get a good sound once you go beyond the presets. Take the "Edge" program, for example. Turn on the phaser effects, and you will get some really cool sounds. Dial in some bass or mid boost using their 3-band eq- this will really tailor the sound for your specific guitar. The only negative comments I have concern the LCD display and the manual. The display is barely readable in dim light. The manual is written in English, Japanese, German, French, and whatever. It's a pain skipping past the foreign languages. The other problem with the manual is the (intentional?) omission of units for each parameter (e.g., dB, Hz, time, etc.)

I use it with a Fender strat and mustang. Here are my ratings on the most common effects: Fuzz (good), Flange (good), Wah (good to very good), Chorus (very good), Phaser (excellent), Reverb and cabinet emulation (very good), Factory Programs (some good, others only fair). The noise gate is not the greatest in the world (but is probably ok for a budget unit). The output drive is only good for a highly efficient stereo headphone, but is more than adequate straight into an amp. The phrase sampler is a cool feature for backup accompaniment or adding your own chorus (up to 1.8 sec). I enjoyed the waterfall effect (handy for Hendrix or Byrds songs).

I never gig or record without a backup. Since the unit is brand new, can't comment on long term reliability. The case is plastic, so it might not be able to take a 300 lb person stepping on it in the dark. 4 AA batteries will last for 18 hours (good to know in case you can't hook into an A/C adapter).

This unit is a fantastic bargain. In the under $300 category, it probably has no match. I bought it after I read a favorable review in Guitarist Magazine (and also heard some samples). This unit sounds very MUSICAL (unlike some floor pedals by Digitech, etc.). I wouldn't be surprised if the same people who worked on their Trinity keyboard also helped in the design of this unit. This is a great pedal for techno/industrial, metal, and hard rock (in that order). A must-have effects box, definitely. Nevertheless, here are some suggestions to Korg for future improvements/upgrades: 1. Make the display bigger, 2. Add some more travel to the floor pedal, 3. Put it in a metal case, 4. Add Midi in/out so that the unit can be programmed remotely, and 5. Don't raise the price (haha).

It's very easy to edit patches, so in no-time you've created some very cool sounds. Because it has 69 effects in total there is a endless number of possibilities. All the effects are listed in the manual so that's not confusing.

I think the sound quality is very good. Nothing wrong with it. It isn't noisy (like the Zoom 505). I've been talking to some other AX1G owners (some of them are die-hard professional guitarists), they all said it sounded great. It also has a good working noise reduction feature.

I play various styles of music (punk, grunge). I play for 2 years now. I've got my guitar, my amp and my AX1G. That's all I need. If it were stolen I would run to the store to get another one. I just love the AX1G (really, I don't sleep with it). I can't point out a favoriete feature because it has so many! I compared it with the Digitech XP-100, Zoom 505, and the Boss ME-30. The Zoom 505 is also cheap, but is very noisy, and doesn't have many effects. The XP-100 also has very few effects, some even really suck. Too expensive. The Boss ME-30 also hasn't much effects, and was twice as expensive. The AX1G isn't noisy, is very cheap and is loaded with effects. THE effect processor for everyone, but especially for beginners.
