Ease of Use : 10
This is very easy to use. I have replaced about 75% of the presets that were originally on there. They are very easy to replace

Sound Quality : 9
Im running this through a LEFTY Jackson DK-2 and a Crate 900H and a Fender DT-412. Its not noisy at all if you turn down one of the things(i forget what its called sorry) I think all the effects sounds pretty good on this pedal. I am still working on getting the sound of the greatest band in the world...METALLICA! I got a pretty close one but im still working on a perfect one.

Reliability : 10
I have used this for 3 different gigs, The first 3 were when i just had a 100 watt Rogue amp, so i needed the pedal...since then..ive been using my built in on the crate head. i would depend on it tho.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i wouldnt even know...

I play any kind of metal out there. and this pedal is good for about all of them. I have been playing for about a year and a half. This was my first pedal...i think i might sell it and try to get a Boss Me-30 one of our guitarist in "ruction" (my band) owns one...and i LOVE the distortion he gets out of it. If it were stolen i would probably get something else. I would like to add that i CANT get the loop function to work...i think its on there for looks...its impossible.

This is one of the best things about this pedal. it is so easy to create your own programs and since you can name them, you dont have to remember where they are. the manual is pretty good. i still cant get the loop function to work though.

Sound Quality : 7
the thing to remember about the sound quality is it only cost 99 bucks. come on now you are not going to get professional sound quality for that. but for the price, the quality is pretty good. the modulation effects are the high point of this pedal. other than the compressor, the drive effects are useless. seriously, you have to get your distortion from a pedal or your amp and run it into this pedal to get a good distorted sound. the presets are all pretty much rediculous. i bought this pedal because i wasnt really sure what kind of effects i needed. this pedal has been great for experimenting around. for 99 bucks, i think this was a good investment.

Reliability : 9
i think i could depend on it.

Customer Support : 3
there basically is no customer support. the expression pedal on mine wouldn't turn on or off, so i looked to see if there was a number i could call or something. all it said was to contact the korg dealer for any problems. come on. i havent checked the website yet though

Overall Rating : 9
i like to play just about every type of music. i have been playing for about 4 years now and i started to realise that there was something missing in my tone. i didn't know what, so i bought this pedal to help. it has been very helpful. effects are like spices, when used in moderation they can really color your tone. i have been able to help my tone with this pedal. i also tried one of the new zoom pedals when i bought this (606 i think) and other than the drive effects, i like the korg a lot better. i really wish it had an amp modeler but hey, for 99 bucks. overall, i think this is a great pedal for beginner and intermediate guitar players who arent really sure what they need from effects. if anyone wants any presets, email me and i'll send you some.

Ease of Use : 6
It's pretty easy to use, editing patches is simple although it can take some experimentation to get the sounds you want. The manual is a bit brief and doesn't explain the sample/loop feature very well at all. I wish they could have made the two pedals a bit closer together, or rather bigger, if you want to bypass the unit, you want to be sure you're gonna step on both pedals and not miss one. I don't like how after you press a pedal it takes about 1/6 of a second to go onto the next effect. This might not sound like much but it's VERY noticeable when you're playing. I know this is common in most digital effects units but it's still annoying. I wouldn't recommend this as someone's only unit, use it in combination with at least a distortion pedal so you won't have to switch between effects so much.

Sound Quality : 6
I find that all this unit isn't very noisy at all, and most of the effects are of good quality. All the distortions however are of terrible quality, even with complex fiddling around with the eq, you can't get a sound anywhere near as good as you can with a simple, cheap distortion pedal. They're all sorta high-pitched and muffled at the same time. The compressor is good though.

Reliability : 9
I bought it second hand and a couple of times just after I bought it, the expression pedal would suddenly stop functioning and I'd have to unplug the unit then plug it back in again to fix it. This is probably just a fault in my one though, and it hasn't happened in the last couple of months so I wouldn't worry about that now. I haven't had any other problems and would use it at a gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't had to deal with it.

Overall Rating : 5
I play a lot of rock and a bit of punk. I only use this unit to add in single effects when I need them in a song, then bypass it and let my Danelectro Fab Tone distortion pedal take over when the bit with the effect finishes. That's the only other pedal I own. If the AX1G were stolen or lost I wouldn't replace it, I'd look for something better. I hate how it's not really at all usable on its own, you need other pedals to go with it. I know it's hard to fit an expression pedal onto a unit like this but couldn't they have made the whole thing a bit smaller? It's so huge compared to a Zoom 505II which has similar ability except without the expression pedal.

I wouldn't recommend anyone buy the AX1G.

I found this unit pretty easy to edit and use.
Usage: The two big foot buttons are used to scroll you through the channels. There are thirty channels and they are all editable. The Pedal allows you to dynamically change a particular effect depending on how you have set it up.
Editing: When you get into the edit mode by pressing the "Edit" button, the first parameter you are faced with is the Drive/Compression/Fuzz/etc... You should turn this off and use the nice distortion found on your amp. :-) The second parameter you run into is the built in EQ. I only use this on occasion. But most of the time I leave it turned off. The third parameter is the modulation setting. This has everything from Chorus/Flanger/Phazer/Ring Modulater/Auto-Waw/etc... And most of them sound pretty darn good and I use them very often. Note that only one of these can be selected at a time. The next parameter is the pedal control selector. I usually use the pedal for Volume control. This make for nice swells. And sometimes I set up a channel with this set to Waw. And it sounds pretty good. Maybe not as good as a Crybaby. But then the cost of the Crybaby is about as much as this whole unit. :-) By the way, if anything other than volume is selected for this parameter, parameter three (the modulation parameter) is automatically turned off. So you can't put a flanger through a chorus or other such combos. The next parameter is reverb/delay. I also use this alot. It work very nicely. The next parameter is cab size. When used with a real amp, I suggest leaving this item turned off. Then there's a few other parameters... channel level, channel name, and noise reduction I think.
I use this unit live. I usually have a channel that's clean, a channel that's deleyed, another with flang, one with phaser, one with chorus, and one with foot controlled waw. Like I said, easy to use easy to set up.

Sound Quality : 9
I have a Peavy Classic 30 and a great Strat! I put the AX1G in the effects loop of the Amp. I works and sounds great. Hardly any tone loss. And there's no noise whatsoever! :-) As long as you stay away from the distortion/compression/etc... hence, turn off the first parameter in all the channels you plan to use. You'll be alright. You really should just let your amp do the dirty work. Or buy a good overdive/distortion pedal.

Reliability : 10
I've had this thing for about four years now. Must be made by timex. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. :-)

Overall Rating : 9
I play all kinda of music. But mostly rock and roll. This thing is WELL worth the money. If you're lookin' for a nice little effects box, this one in my opinion rivals some of the rack units as far as quality goes. And it's real cheap now. I think you can get one for like $100 new. And by the way, it also makes a good vocal processor too.

Ease of Use : 10
I've had this pedal for a couple of years now and find that editing is really a breeze, the manual isn't great but it's fairly simple to work out what's required. As with most multi-effect units I 'm not too keen on the presets though that's not to say that other's won't enjoy using them as they are.

Sound Quality : 7
I use this with either a Strat or a Tele thru either a Carvin Nomad or Marshall JCM 900 to play most things, blues rock and country etc with good results from both amps. I tried it direct thru the PA but didn't really think it sounded very clever, not to the standard of say a Pod Sansamp or Yamaha DG Stomp which is not surprising when you compare the price. For the cost involved most of the effects sound good and are usable, it's a pity though that you can't have compression along with the drive options. The wah effect ain't no Vox but it is usable as are the reverbs and delay's and the modulation effects chorus trem etc are reasonable quality. You can also assign various effects to the pedal and switch them on and off as required. As I don't really use heavy distortion sounds I can't make an honest judgement about that area although with some careful tweaking you can get a fairly good approximation with regard to Bluesy sounds aka Trower Stevie Ray Clapton etc as well as some pretty convincing country tones. If you sit down and spend some time setting up the unit and making adjustment's to suit your requirement's you should be able to achieve decent results bearing in mind that sound's to individual players is subjective and it does sound much better to me thru the amp's than when used thru the PA. Having tried the more expensive AX 1000 I can't really say that I thought it sounded any better overall.

Reliability : 9
I've used this thing stacks of times at live gig's and never had a problem with it so far.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Korg on this one and I don't believe that there's any upgrade available.

Overall Rating : 8
This unit won't appeal to everyone, what unit does, it's certainly reasonably priced and within the reach of most, when you think that you can pay the same amount for one stompbox it can't be bad. There are many featured sounds within that I would never use but others will and it's the option that makes it. It would be unfair to compare the quality of effects with units at five times the price but if tweaked it will be effective, it's also light and portable and doesn't take up half the stage and is very stage friendly to use. I do have other stuff like DG Stomp Sansamp Quadraverb etc but this so simple to use that I use it all the time.

Fairly easy to use except the sample and loop function, other than that you can pretty much figure it out on yourself,

Sound Quality : 8
The distortion on this thing is hard to get a nice heavy sound, and it doesnt sound that great if you get the EQ set right. The modulation and other stuff is excellent except for the distortion its got a great sound.

Reliability : 10
This thing is very reliable if you have good cables. For a gig I dont think i would need backup.

Customer Support : 9
It has a warrant and thats about all I know about it.

Overall Rating : 9
I mostly play death metal type music and this thing is hard to get a really good distortion . I have been playing for about 2 years and can play lots of Hendrix and pantera solos. The distortion on the DOD death metal distortion is a lot more smoothed than the AX1G. If i lost this i would definatly buy a new one just because of the effects besides the distortion. This thing is very versatile making it a good choice for any musician, I find it very helpful with making music

This thing is pretty easy to use. I studied the manual for about 5 minutes and then I had it all figured out.

Sound Quality : 7
I play a squier strat and a epiphone les paul into my stereo. For that reason, the sound throught this thing could get better. This thing is dead quiet if you work the parameters right. Its got tons of effects on it, and the modulation and ambience effects are great. The distortions are pretty much standard compressor, transistor, tube, and metal. The tube simualated ones arent that great. I do use the solid state and fuzz settings a lot. This thing probably is worth the 99 just for the GREAT chorus, phaser, and flanger.

Reliability : 10
Heck yeah, this is dependable. I do worship at my church with it, and i always leave it on. I've even dropped it a couple of times.

Well I've had this thing for about a year, and its a good intro into the wide world of digital effects. Like I said, distortion is very average, but the effects are really good. And hey, your'e not going to find many other fx boxes with pedalsm for 99. However, I recently played through a Digitech RP-1, and it seemed to have a better quality sound, so try that one out along with the Korg AX-1G

I belive the AX1G is very good at having a good sound, and the editing patches are very easy to figure them out. The manual is very help execpt I only use it for the warrenty.

My set-up consits of a Dean Avalcahe, 2 marsall amplifiers(AVT50 and a MG15RCD), also a BOSS Mt-2 Metal Zone, a BOSS DS-1 Distortion, And a DOD FX69 Grunge Distortion. Although it is very noisy it has great settings and sound great. I play alot of nirvana, silverchair and bush so yeah it works good with it .

It has lots of presets so when ya get it, just cycle through them and find one you like. Its really easy to use. I could never get the loop/sample thing to work though even with the manual.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a fender roadhouse and a blues junior. It is sometimes very noisy on some distortion settings. I think the wah sucks, and the distortion is ok. It does a little bit of everything, and i mean A LITTLE BIT of everything. The comp, phaser, and flanger are all decent though.

Yeah, you can depend on it, and yeah i would gig without a backup. (i have before) Its made out of very durible plastic.

Well, for 100 bucks id say its worth it. Its nice to have everything in one box. It is really hard to put it in bypass and sometimes you switch to the wrong effect. But, thats ok. My biggest complaint is that you can't really tweak the effects. You can only adjust the value. 0-30. I would have rather have used the money to buy a boss phaser, or somethin like that. For a decent all around pedal you can't go wrong.

Very easy to use. 30 presets(user writable) you just scroll through with the 2 footswitches. Editing is very fast and easy, just press the edit button to toggle between editing and playing modes.

5 different categories of effects that can be used simultaniousy. Drive, Tone, Modulation, Pedal effect and Ambient. The drive gives you you're overdrive, fuzz, distortion and compression. Tone adjusts the EQ of the effects. Modulation contains your fancy stuff like flanging effects, chorus, vib, phaser. The pedal can be assigned to various things like volume control, wah wah, humanizer and bender. Ambient has a few nice reverb effects. Plus this thing has a built in cabinet resonator with 30 sizes to chose from and theres a good NR feature too.
Everything is determined on a by-preset basis, everything including volume, NR, cabinet and all your effects settings are stored in the 30 memories except a master volume control. Very easy to flick between different sounds.

Sound Quality : 5
I'm using a kustom 20watt practice amp most of the time, but I often have to use some of my schools amps for practice, these range from a 15w peavey to a 40w fender, to a laney bass amp. The pedals sound quality is one area that it has sorta let me down in I'm afraid. Before I got this pedal I was using a boss metal zone, on loan from a mate. When I started using this pedal I was dissapointed with the distortion I got from it till I got the tone function to the same settings I had the metal zone at. It sounds alright at low volumes but plug in some headphones or put up the amp and I found it to have a very harsh buzzy sound. Reguardless of that the tone from it is very low. Especially compared to the sound of my bands lead guitarist and I cant find a way to get the pitch up any.
I also found that the overdrive and fuzz effects are kinda cheap sounding, like I was listening to it through a radio.
Modulation effects were impressive, although I dont have any refference for these sounds. The expression pedals range was slightly limited, I didn't think that the WAH would be up to much, but when I played it with my band the sound was far above my expectations.

Reliability : No Opinion
I'm always very careful with my property. Plastic construction would make this a risky investment for some people who hammer thier stomp boxes, but not me. It hasn't failed in the month I've owned it, cant complain.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Havn't had any problems with it.

Overall Rating : 7
I play a lot of metal mainly, and this pedals distortion effects have a good low growl to them, which is great for some tunes, unfortunetly this tone is more due to the quality of the output. Some sounds I've been able to replicate perfectly with this pedal like the wah at the start of Enter Sandman, while I've had a hard time trying to get some lighter tones without it sounding too cheap.

Would I buy this again? Hmm, truth is its a great pedal. Especially for the price. But truth is I dont want to let my band down when it comes to our next gig. I'm seriously considering going back with this pedal and forking out another hundred quid or so, seeing if I can maybe get a partial trade in for something better. I'm going to see if I can get better sound out from it with an expensive amp first though. But even with headphones I'm getting the same problems with distortion.

Overall, giving it a 7 I think.
