In theory, it shouldn't be terribly difficult to edit sounds on the AX3000G, because the controls are laid out fairly logically. But in practice, both of the AX3000G units I tests were defective, so I can't say for certain how easy or difficult editing really is. It was definitely more difficult to navigate than the Digitech GNX3 that I tested alongside it. But that's not to say I couldn't get used to it quickly (if it worked). The user manual is fairly comprehensive, but again, not quite as comprehensive as the Digitech GNX3 manual.

In terms of signal to noise ratio, it sounds great. In terms of tone, again, both units I tried were defective, so the results were among the most annoying sounds I've ever heard from any non-rap artist source. My results with it were nothing more than absolutely unusable cacophony.
In contrast, the Digitech GNX3 I tested alongside this unit worked perfectly out of the box, was easy to use, sounds *fantastic*, and had me being creative in no time.

I tried to test two units. One was dead on arrival (albeit, it's a floor model at Guitar Center). The other (brand new) unit was completely unstable, the sound cut in & out, and I'd often get no sound at all after changing presets with the stomp buttons.
And the first time I turned the modulation knob I was rewarded with a screeching blast that nearly broke my eardrums, followed by extremely loud white noise that endangered my expensive headphones. So as of January 2006, I have to rate the reliability of this unit as low as possible.
On the other hand, I'm traditionally a big fan of Korg products, and have found them to be excellent and reliable in the past. So I have no idea why the AX3000G gave me so much trouble.

No experience with Korg support. They're website is definitely geared toward sales, rather than community and support. I could not find user presets for the AX3000G available anywhere on the web (the Digitech GNX3 had hundreds of user presets available). I do appreciate their free PC utlities that allow you to edit presets on their products, however.

It's difficult to review the AX3000G because neither unit I used worked properly. But then again, that is something worth noting in a review.
I could only gain a small sense of what the AX3000G is capable of doing when it works, and my impression is that it is to guitar multiFX pedals what the Korg Electribe series is to synthesizers--a useful novelty, but not very useful for a main board.
The ESS feature really intrigued me, since it more or less adds an arpreggiator to your guitar (cool idea!). But in practice, from what I heard, it would definitely serve as a novelty and little more. Don't get me wrong, I'd still buy one if I could afford a unit that actually worked, because you find the sounds this thing makes anywhere else. But I'm sticking with my Digitech GNX3 as a main board because the tone-shaping is extraordinary, and it's proven to be reliable.
I really, really wanted to like the AX3000G, since I'm a big fan of Korg products. But what can I say? The thing didn't work, twice. No amount of loyalty to Korg can overcome that.

Korg Ax3000G is a technological miracle! This is the machine of my dreams.I only spent 2 weeks with it and i'm completely in control of every effect stored in.I didn't even looked at the manual. The only thing that matters is that the device is so big that i can't find any suitable bags to carry when i go to studio so i use a suitcase!Editing patches are way beyond cool. The editing program is a work of genius. This is a dream come true!

I am using an ibanez rg370dx and a fender U.S.A strat with di marzio hs3 and fasttrack 2 pickups.I tried to hear a feedback but even the gain is max. there is no feedback. The effects are delicious! They sound perfect. The best wah, reverb, delay and chorus i've ever seen.Cabin and amp simulators are fantastic.I couldn't even get these kinds of sounds whan i was using Sanzamp GT2.And of course the ess feature is way beyond perfect. And the most amazing thing is:
Without the proper setup i have managed to get the 3 best sounds i have ever heard:
The sound of Michael Romeo,Steve Vai and John Petrucci!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would never consider any other devices than ax3000g.I have fallen in love with its distorsion and ess feature.I can only wish luck to other companies trying to compete with korg!I only wanted that it can be connected to the internet to download samples of other guitarists but u may say i am a dreamer!

This is the only box that creates a distorted sound like i want to have. Mainly i like all the effects very much, except the wah.
What i don't like are the short breaks when you change the patch, but i haven't seen an multieffect-unit which hasn't had these.

While very easy to navigate thru this processor, you'll probably spend a fair amount of time creating your own patches. The factory presets are unappealing to me. The manual is comprehensive, but really doesn't clue you into what this box can do, and it can do plenty. If you go online to korg you can see a demo. If you like to avoid manuals (who doesn't) it's pretty intuitive. The layout of the box could be better thought out. Separating the amp models and the distortions so that they could be used together as an example. But this doesn't take anything away from the monster tone that this thing has. I have a POD XT-Live, Digitech GNX4, and have gotten rid of more of these things than I can count. I would rate the Korg noticeably higher.

I use a Fender American Strat Deluxe with the S-1 controller into the Korg, and then into a PA or keyboard amp.I'll use a tube screamer occasionally, going into the effects send/return jacks. I'd recommend not spending too much time with the presets (they pay somebody to program this?). If you spend some time figuring out what tones you can get out of the AX3000 you may be pleasantly surprised at how great it sounds. It's extremely quiet, even at high gain settings. It has a very nice acoustic sim, but you should use it with one of the clean amp settings turning off the cabinet simulator. The Vox sim give a terrific grind. There are also several neat high gain sims to give all the chunk you could want.

Blues, pop, country, rock, metal there doesn't seem to be any genre that the AX 3000 can't do justice to. You just need some patience to set up the proper configuration. I would absolutely replace it if it were lost. It's a multi-effect. It will give you enormous flexibility in the studio or live. If I were going to recommend anything to Korg, it would be to give more thought to the layout of the board.

Setup: J&D YC-7951 (7 string guitar) > Behringer Hellbabe wha pedal > Korg AX3000G> Behringer Ultra G-100 direct box (with speaker simulation on) > any mixer > any P.A.
Simple setup ..I can use it almost anywhere.
The general sound quality is very good and it's easy to obtain.
Good cleans, good crunch and overdrive and great distortions. The preamps and pedal simulations sound very good and natural. The effects are very good and easy to use!
I also have a Boss GT-6 which is a good multi fx but the sound is a little more digital and liveless and takes much tweaking to get a really good lead sound or even overdriven sounds.
Korg Toneworks has done a great job with this baby...high quality easy to obtain with this one ;)

My boss gt-6 seems more reliable(and heavy) than this one...for boss I have to give a 10 and to this I give an 8.. I hope I'm right cause 8 is still an high score! But it's well built.. the knobs and pedals just don't seem has solid as the ones in the gt-6. But it's a lot cheaper to.
Has a very nice design overall!

well...since I can't download an english ( or portuguese) manual in their web page...I can't rate them to high..but the pc editor for the AX3000 is a nive addiction that Roland / Boss didn't gave me...
So I'll stay for a reasonable rating.

Realy a fantastic and inspiring value.. I play covers and it's a good match...in my opinion it's better than Boss Gt-6 and V-amp2 ( I have a Vampire combo).
It's more natural sounding, it's simple and works very well.
I'd like that it would have an on/off swith and more function for the expression/volume pedal like the gt-6 had. that would be nice.
I recomend this multi effects to everybody..even if you have a great tube amp it will be usefull cause it's sound is very transparent and won't suck your amp's tone like the gt-6 did..shame on you Boss!
Also, it's much cheaper than the equivalent BOSS, LINE6 and DIGITECH products..they have to much "bells and whistles" for my taste.
This is a straightforward product

The AX3000G comes loaded with initially usefull patches. Programming manually is slightly tedious(as are all foot pedals!)directly, however the free downloadable software makes life a breeze in this respect. You can edit/save/load patches direct from PC, therefore making "sound sharing" available between like minded individuals a dawdle. The manual that comes with the unit is reasonably comprehensive, giving basic descriptions of all the modules, telling you basically what they are modelling without breaking any patent/copyright laws, eg " overdrive pedal housed in a garish green box"!!!! Incidentally, I have no idea what firmware revision that is installed in my board.

I am using this unit primarily with a YamahaSG3000s through a Marshall 100W Combo. I am able to create most of my main favoured artistes such as Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica, Cult, Nirvana, Guns 'N' Roses, Franz Ferdinand, etc, as well as conjuring up many other unique sounds fairly easily. I previously used a multitude of individual floor pedals before graduating to non PC integrated effects units, ok as they were. Now with the AX3000G I can change a wide range of paramaters real time through PC and save them easily afterwards. I know that this is not the first unit to allow easy PC access, however the AX3000G also has extensive foot control, particularly via the assignable control pedal. The multi function expression peadal is not a new innovation, however it's use from contolling the usual WAH to controlling gain, to controlling delay time, and much more cannot be overlooked as being trivial.
All of the effect modules are excellent, positionally important ones such as WAH and Phaser being optionally pre or post amp module. Amp and cabinet models are good, ranging from small combo models to big stacks, all again individually assignable. Distortion effects run the full gamut from mild OD to full shred Metal. Flanger, chorus, octaver, phase, etc all are superb, as are the multi mode delays and reverbs, although I still can't figure out the use of some of the more exotic effects such as drone and ring mod.(Guess I need the Eastern inluence)

I'm not gigging currently, so I don't have any real constuctive input in this category. All I can say is that the unit seems robust and should handle mild (as any unit should) abuse. It's of metal construction and feels solid.

I generally play hard rock / heavy metal music. I've been playing guitar for twenty years and have gone through a multitude of individual pedals and effect units, although, electric guitar wise, I've basically stuck to Yamaha SG's, luv them!!
I wouldn't mind sharing individually generated patches for this unit. The facility is here now for like minded individuals to share the time that they have spent generating tones similar to the guitar icons that we all listen to, and lets face it, it can be soul destroying trying to find the tone that your looking for, and then you stumble across another one that you weren't looking for and go AHA.....,that sounds like........

I have a Fender American Strat. with lace sensors & a Mexican Strat. with vurtual vintage Pickups and a duncan in the bridge and have not noticed any harsh hissing sound that I've encountered with other units I play at church most of the time and it can get almost ( rock concert ) loud...lolol at some points and it delivered without a problem thank God!!!...I'm also using the Fender stage 160 amp very clean solid state but with the AX3 I can get it to break like a tube amp. When not using the dist. or chorus, flange, Octave I'm not a big color guy I love to hear natural sound of my guitar and the AX3 does it for me.
