I am coming from ax ax1500g to this model so I am very critical.
The interface is better than the 1500, and the exp pedal is much better with its range and feel. Display is improved.
The insert option is nice but it is restricted to the front of the chain, no post eq or effects, nor is it programmable for level in or out. I don't need the MIDI or s/p out out this point.
The assignable control button and exp pedal options are useful features.
The ESS is ignorable.

I use it into the front end of a variety of amps with several different guitars.
I rely on the amp for my basic tone (clean) and set the Korg for no fx or amp sim outside of the vol pedal as my base tone.
Problem- all amp sims are affected by the global amp/line control.
The line selection is ok only for direct sends...very bright into a gtr amp, so you must choose one of the 3 tonally coloured sims. There is no fine control over this choice and it makes quite a difference. I tend to the 4/12 model but it's only ok.
The drive/amp selection does not let you choose both an amp and pedal. Bummer.
The pedal and selections, often with the same name as those on the 1500g, do not sound the same, generally worse, and often offer less control over eq/tone. The overall eq is very limited on all patches. The spkr sims have an effect but, again, NO adjustment, whereas the 1500g had a control for blend and presence with each one. Dang.
My fave patches from the 1500g, the fat, us mdrn, and tube od, are all weaker for my applications. The Uk and AC patches are better, fortunately. The 'left' side choices are ridiculously buzzy pedal sims, for the most part. The fuzz is far, far worse on this unit than the 1500g.
The fx section is broader and sounds good with useful controls, esp on the wahs but AGAIN they ruined one of my faves, the talk mod.
I use OD pedals in front as well so I am not totally dependent on this box for all distortion tone and with careful selection and tweaking retain good sounds, overall, but disappointed in some ways.

The amp on/off button broke free and I had to disassemble the thing and reglue it. Pretty flimsy in there. Adequate, but handle with care.
My first unit would generate random shot noises and was changed by the dealer.

I've been at this a long time. This piece of gear is essential to my current rig. I can plug into almost any good, clean, amp and get my chosen tones from the pedalboard. This Korg helps. It is a letdown that some of the core sounds are not as appealing as the ones in the 1500g but the interface is an improvement.
The wealth of options available, at this price, in any of this sort of processor is quite amazing.
Compared to a Tonelab SE, that I returned, I find these od tones to be generally less harsh and fizzy, I hate fizzy, even without the much-lauded tube in the circuit, but it is a tougher fight to find them than in the 1500g.
Wish I could custom order a unit of this sort. Just the good stuff. Axe-FX pedalboard on the horizon?

I stated programming this before I even looked at the manual -it is that simple to set up and a joy to use.

I am using a Vintage Les Paul deluxe (V100wr) with mini humbuckers and an Epiphone Les Paul standard with a Phat cat neck pick up and a toneride classic PAF (with coil tap) at the bridge. My amps is a Hartke G60 which has a superb clean sound but the distortion is 'orrible. going into a Crate 4x12 cab.
I have a box full of effects units from Morley, Wasabi, marshall and Behringer and was considering getting a selection of overdrive pedals before I priced this unit up. If this was as good as the reviews then I would be able to sell all my other pedals and pay for it twice over.
I was most skeptical about getting a realistic crunchy British valve overdrive sound. If I could manage to get this sound and a decent lead sound it would pay for itself.
The result?
For sale one box full of Morley Marshall Wasabi and Behringer effects!
The sound is incredible. It is so customisable. So versatile, there are really useful things like the overdrives and the smooth chorus sounds to the faintly ridiculous (Sitar sim, Synth sounds and ESS sequencing).

I am using a Jackson Dinky Pro and a Marshall amp. Since my amp is a tiny one, the cabinet simulations are of great help. All the effects are extremely good. But the flanger gets out of way sometime(when I experimented with extremely heavy distortion). Otherwise its amazing. Some simulations like MOD/DRIVE replicate some pedals(distortion pedals in particular) used by many guitar Gods like Brian May et all which otherwise are too expensive to afford.

I play anything from blues to classic-hardrock. I've found it very supportive. But the built-in arpeggios would show the easy way to a kid and would get him rid of the pleasure he might get playing those arpeggios himself. Its THE best processor one could get at this price. Unlike other processors that pack a lot of features and bill you for those features that may not be used by man-kind for eternity, AX3000g is a modestly priced processor which offers only things you need for playing great music. Or if you are that kid obsessed with crap like death metal or some gothic crap, dont waste ur money, jus get a $50 guitar and a distortion pedal(Its all you need).......

The Toneworks AX3000G is very easy to use. You get a button with pre fx usage containing 11 effects. Next you get a drive/amp button with 8 distortion effects and 8 amp models to choose from. Next, again is a modulation button with 11 choices for flange, chorus filters . . . After that you get a delay button with 11 choices. The echo plus selection is the best. Last, you get a reverb button with 11 choices. The hall effect is the best, in my opinion.

You can tweak each and every effect on this stomp board. Finding the right effect is easy, and tweaking it gives you a lot of control. I've been searching for the right Pat Methey effect, and I found it using the AX3000G. I have perfect delay and reverb. For distortion, I chose the metal dist effect. Great sound for Edward Van Halen rip offs.
I run this box through a Fender FM 212r. The amp is mediocre until you plug this box into it. The box is a good pre amp for my FM 212r. All of a sudden, people are complimenting my playing. Before I purchased the AX3000g, I couldn't cut a break -- everyone thought I should stick with the bass guitar. Now, I'm considered a decent guitarist. I knew my playing had potential, and this effects unit brings out the finer elements of my playing.

I play jazz, blues, classic rock, and alternative rock. This box sounds very natural. The Boss Gt-5 and 8 offer many bells and whistles, but the sound is very digital. The Korg unit sounds like a tube amp with great pedals. It offers several bells and whistles as well, but for $249, you get the essentials - distortion, plenty of delay, lots of reverb, and loads of chorus and flange. What more could yolu ask for. It even has a synth effect function.
If this unit were stolen, or lost, I'd buy it again.
Again, my favorite effects are the delay choices and reverb choices -- particularly the hall reverb effect and the echo plus delay effect. When mixed together (and a little tweaking) you get a perfect Pat Metheny sound. Everytime I play, it feels like Christmas -- the sound quality is very calm and interesting.

one thing is that the pots are surface mounted, so they wiggle a little when you grab 'em...i can't see this being a good thing for long term reliability. I would prefer the pots be bolted to the panel, but hey...this box WAS only $250. You get what you pay for.

I'm really satisfied with my purchase. I think I got every penny worth from this box.
A couple of things that i wish it did that it does not (feel free to correct me, if i've overlooked something):
I reeeeeeeally wish it supported midi sync for delays and the ESS feature. I have no idea why korg would not have programed that feature into the software.
In individual mode, when you switch an effect off, it cuts off the effect abrubtly...for example, if you had a delay with a long feedback and you turned the delay section off, the delay trail cuts off immediately. This is quite a bummer. It would be really if turning the effect off, just turned off the "input" to that effect- rather like closing an aux send. this would allow you to...say....keep a feedback loop running and play uneffected over top of it. or use a delay as a simple looper.

I've tried this pedal with multiple amps and many guitars.I've found it sounds best through a good tube halfstack (needs a good clean) with a guitar that has passive pickups. But, it really depends on what you play. The pedal sounds pretty good clean. The distortion can sound alright depending on what kind of distortion you want. I've found it hard to get a good distortion suitable for metal (speed, death, doom, black,...). People who say it has tube like distortion obviously have never heard a good tube amp. I've heard better clean and I've heard better distortion, but I have heard far worse.

If this is the best you can afford, I'd actually try to find the AX1500G if they still make it and buy that. I think that sounds better. If you have the money, buy the line6 xtlive pedal (I think thats what its called). Its only a $100 or so more and sounds better in every aspect. And the rackmount version of the line 6 pod is superior to both.

For my range of experience and present function that this unit is used for, I say I get a pretty good sound out of it. I basically use chorus, flanger, phaser, vibrato, rotary, delays, overdrives and some distortion. Several of the factory presets were useable but I tweak most of them. The overdrive, distortion, synth and ring mod combinations are wierd to me and couldn't be used out-of-the-box.
Editing is easy enough. I tried to figure out what units the AX3000G is modelling; look up for those manuals to find any sample settings or I check other websites (Musicians Friend & Boss-Roland are the best). I download the samples (if possible) and try to tweak the AX3000G to those sounds - if they are applicable to my playing situation.
The manual is simple BUT it assumes that you know about using many of these modelled units. I wish it had sample settings but then again, it is easy enough to go to the factory presets and copy KORG's settings to new patches. There was NO infor on the current drw but it probably wasn't necessary since the unit came with a 9v/600mA adapter.
Sound Quality
:8
Since I mainly use clean FX, it works very well for me. I find the quality of the FX to be very good. I try to copy sounds from other artists but my learning curve is short when I read helpful user reviews or other modelled products' manuals. Generally, the overdrives are very useful but I would have preferred to be able to have a clean amp tone PLUS an overdrive/distortion.
Its easy to set patches, match volume/amp levels. Noisy?.........no way! This unit is very useable for live stage. I haven't tried recording it yet. Off course, distortion, fuzz, compressor has noise levels that is normal. I wished the compressor had more knobs though but I've tried using settings similar to those for the MAXON compressor.
I use a PEAVEY T-60 guitar with a customized GraphTech Piezo pick-up >> BOSS GE-7 (modified) >> AX3000G input. Then I run a BOSS CE-3 Chorus in the FX Loop. In the past, I have run BOSS DS-1 or DOD Daddy O with a separate Eq pedal. Now I use a CARLSBRO Sherwood 80 amp - Channel 1 is for the T-60 electric tone (from the AX3000G) and Channel 2 is for the Piezo tone via a DOD FX40B Eq to help bring out the acoustic voicing. I take the Tweeter off with the option switch (back of the amp). But just this weekend, I went T-60 straight to amp (with Tweeter on) and I love it!
I've been trying to get the BOSS PH-3 sounds but I'm not complete in my efforts. The Octave is okay but I use the octave option in the Pitch mode to play when I'm chording. The Synth is UNUSEABLE to me! I can't use it for any worthwhile patches. Help anyone??? Drone is good; I never use the Acoustic cause I have a real Piezo pickup. I use the Vox Wah hardly but more use the AutoWah with the Fultron - I like that! I'm now exploring the ESS features but I bought the unit partly because of this feature.
When I use the amp models, I go for the BTQ Clean, AC15, AC30B, sometimes the 212; I also use the UK68, UK80's, Tube OD, BTQ OD. The Control feature plus the Loop can offer so many options for hook-up of outboard gear. At one time I also had a BOSS PSM-5 Master Switch/Looper/Power supply. So I had this loop control other pedals while also using the AX3000G's Loop. I power my entire board with the 1-Spot (1700mA) 9v adapter. Absolutely NO PROBLEMS!! Get 1...or 2.
I had a BOSS ME-50 before this but it had no Loop AND saving patches was a pain since there was no way to control the volume levels. Then when you switched from manual to presets or vice versa, there was a big difference in levels. I consider myself a BOSS guy but I read and read before I bought this KORG. I AM HAPPY. sure, there's no On/Off switch but its ok - just save any changes you make and you're good to go.
The paint chips easily. The Headphones should be 1/4" instead of 1/8" but I built a breakout box with 2 stereo 1/8" cables (about 12-14" long) into a project box (RadioShack) with 2 stereo chassis mounted 1/4" female jacks. This enabled me to plug my regular headphones into a 1/4" jack without hassle. The other 1/8" cable I plug into the AUX, so I also can run, say, my drum machine thru' the AX3000G. (I'd be happy to send pics if anyone is interested).

I DO DEPEND ON IT - 100%. I gig without a backup!
My unit is mounted on a DIY pedalboard with other pedals, DI box, etc. It all fits into my PEDALTRAIN case - easy carrying. I run the board off of my 1-Spot adapter...so I have a backup adapter.
At one time, I was playing 2 different setups per week: campus type worship ministry with up beat stuff (overdrive/distortion, etc) so I had saved settings for use with my PEAVEY Studio Pro amp. Then, I had separate settings for running into the mixer/PA at my church. Basically similar patches with/without amp modelling. I'm still researching the stuff I can do with the basic effects and the unit itself. I found articles by Craig Anderton that suggest tips for using multi-effect units - very helpful.

I play at church - a bit of many styles - Reggae, soft Rock, Blues, Pop, Folk/Acoustic, etc. This is a great match for me...no regrets. The OD/DS are okay but I may get a BOSS or DIGITECH OD/DS pedal and run it in the Loop. I've been playing electric for about 19 years - all of those in chuch settings and also in mixed combos & as a singer-songwriter. I own the BOSS GE-7 (mod) Eq, DOD FX40B Eq, BOSS CE-3 Chorus, ART X-Direct DI, CARLSBRO Sherwood amp and PEAVEY T-60 (w/customized GraphTech Piezo) guitar. No shame, no regrets - to each his/her own!
If stolen, I would certainly get this unit again OR I may opt for the DIGITECH GNX 3 or 4 - only cause I'd like not only to jam along but to phrase train, loop stuff, drum machine and record on one unit.
I WISH the unit:- had separately tweakable FX engines - so you could combine ANY effects; the manual clearly said what units/amps they were modelling; the synth could be EASILY tweaked to sound like a guitar synth; the Pitch would track better on fast passages; the amp and OD/DS presets were on spearate knob functons AND a programmable drum machine. I was inspired sinc e the day I decided to check out this unit- I LOVE IT.
I bought this unit because i believe it suited my needs - it does...most of them. the price was good for me - mine was a floor demo at Same Day Music. Compare reviews with any other units in its class and judge based on your own needs. Others' opinions are valuable but YOU take your owh risks. KORG didn't get a wink from me before I decided to check this unit out. I thought they were ony good for keyboard stuff. Think again!

ok, here is where i really wanted comment. having moved from southern california to a more rural area in Eastern Idaho, i've now switched my focus from playing in bands in live situations, to home recording and songwriting. miking an amp in my home studio was not a practical idea as i do most of my recording at night after the family is asleep. so, i wanted something that would record well and sound at least close to what a good amp would sound like miked up. after reading some decent reviews on this unit, i figured i'd give it a go as the price was definately right. plus, with musician's friend's return policy, i figured if it was terrible, i'd just send it back. well i've still got it and have found it to be a very usible, user friendly tool. i have played many high end guitars through many high end amps in my 18 years of playing. i say that to reference that i DO know what many of the amps this unit "models" actually sound like. make no mistake, there is no $250 effects unit that will reproduce the actual tone one gets from plugging a strat into an old tweed bassman, or a blackface twin or super. or a tele into an old deluxe. or a les paul into a marshall plexi, or an jackson soloist into a mesa triple recto.... you get the idea. the notion that any solid state "modeling" device will sound just like a "_________" is not realistic. what this unit does provide is a nice ability to quickly and easily dial in a quite usible tone with the convienience of having some decent effects all in one unit. i run this AX3000G into my tweed blues deluxe by way of either my Godin LGX-SA or my Jimmy Vaughan signature strat. live, i really only play at church now, and this effects unit allows me to be able to cover a lot of different sounds convincingly. the tube blues deluxe warms up the signal as well. what i really get the most use out of this unit for is home recording. with several different overdrive / distortion options and several cabinet simulation options, i can put some really nice sounds to disc without trying to hastle with miking an amp. there are a wealth of useful effects in here also. your regular reverbs, modulations, delay, ect. all which can be shaped quickly and easily to taste. i was surprised at how good the uni-vibe in this thing was!!! overall, a great buy for the money. i'll give it a 8 based on the tones i can produce, not based on how closely it "models" high end amps.... this is a very easy to use and valuable tool for recording especially which can also easily be used in live situations. analog pedals into a good tube amp will always sound better (imo) but there is something to be said for the convienience of having all the effects right here in one unit.

digital modeling technology has come a long way it seems. i still own a digitech RP-1 and a Digitech GSP-21 processor. this Korg AX3000G is far superior as far as sound goes.... at least to my ears. again, there is no way a $250 "box" is going to replace vintage Vox, Fender, Marshall, Orange, Hiwatt, Mesa, Ect. amps. if you buy this thinking it really will sound like a blackface twin, mesa triple recto, Vox AC30 and a Marshall Plexi all at the same time, you will be disapointed. but, if you are looking for a versatile tool for home recording and live situations and can take a few minutes to tweak some settings, you'll be plesently surprised at the tones waiting in this unit.

I had absolutely no trouble getting great tones from this multieffects unit. Editing and making your own patches is easy. I can get the sound of probably any artist from this unit. I haven't tried everyone out and try to get their tones, but it's really good for Death, Thrash, Power, Black, and Speed Metal. The cleans are also very good. The only effect I don't like at this point because of the presets on the unit (and thus haven't messed with it yet because of my dislike for it) is the Synth. All of the other effects were very nice and impressive to me. I really loved how warm all the effects were. They weren't cold at all, but I'm sure you could get cold from it. I use an Ibanez SZ320 Goldtop or Hamer Vector Flametop flying V for guitars. I tune these from Eb-C standard, and I use a Peavey Rockmaster 120w Tube head. If it is noisy, that just means I don't have the Noise Reduction unit on, in which case, it is turned on, and properly set up so it doesn't sound unnatural. The effects are generally great, but Synth does sound weak, perhaps I am not using it right. I'll have to mess with it a bit. In the loop, I put my Ibanez Weeping Demon Wah, DS1, Rocktron Metal Planet and Rocktron Rampage sometimes for different things. I may assign the expression pedal to something other than a wah, then I've got it in the loop. Also, I've got a DS1 for overdrive, and I've got the other two distortions for if I bypass the Drive/Amp model, or use a cleanish or slightly overdriven model. Then I can have a variable dist depending on how it's setup. Very versatile for my uses and purposes of the pursuit of as many tones as possible.

I play metal, and the unit does it amazingly. But, I had a blues/rock guitarist play with it, and he also liked it. I could get a few jazz tones, amazing cleans, so it's quite versatile. I'm sure what you put into it, and what it puts it's signal out of have a lot to do with tone, I bet. If it were lost or stolen, I'd definitely buy another one, especially if it was more moderate in price (from making another one more than likely.) I love all of it's features, all the models and effects, the noise reduction, the headphone jack for quiet practice, the 'individual' mode so that programs act like a separate rig like a line of stompboxes, and I was especially amazed by the expression pedal/Expression Step Sequencer system. Like said above, I don't like the Synth as of yet, and hopefully with time, I will figure it out and atleast find it useful for one thing. I compared this with the AX1500G, Behringer V-amp Pro, and Line 6 Pod 2/FloorPOD. I considered these others because of at that price range, they were the best. I later got the $70 more for the Korg AX3000G, and I'm glad I chose this.
I wish it had drum patterns or a metronome, to play to in rhythm. This helps me play music because I don't have to keep messing with knobs to get my tones. I just change patchs, and maybe go to Individual, switch on/off a mod or reverb, turn on the insert loop. Everything is very useful and the unit is very musical and warm without being muddy.

personally i didn't buy this for use with a guitar, and as such its pretty horrible. I've never been a fan of 'modelled' effects anyway, and this is no exception. the distortions in particular have a very digital 'hiss' to them which to me sounds very unnatural. The reverbs and delays fare much better, but these are traditionally very well created digitally anyway. Most of the effects are fairly extreme and is thus great for routing synths and samples through which is what i bought it for. Great for experimenting with new ideas and adding new layers of sound, and often pleasantly unexpected results. Used in this way the effects sound great, not dissimilar to the effects you get in other korg gear such as the electribe sx.

I find most all the sounds and tones very good.I am a classical guitar major with a minor in classical piano so the ESS is a little out there for me.I am however not bound to classical music alone but enjoy smooth jazz, rock, metal, ect.I am using the AX3000G through a Crate GT200DH head with 4x12 cab flat as it gets! Primary Guitars are Schecter C1 Classic quilt top,Schecter Omen 6, Ibanez custom Iceman with DiMarzio XL's, cheap strat copy (This unit makes this guitar sound great!)and Two hand made classical guitars one is accoustic/electric.

I am a guitarist of over 20 years and have found this unit to be well suted to my needs. I don't hate anything about this unit but not all functions are useful for me.The other products IE Digitech,Boss ,POD,ect just didn't have what I needed. It does take a little time to experiment as I said before but well worth the time spent! If you take the time you will find what you are looking for!!!!

I bought this unit as my Boss GT3 is getting iffy, after about 6 or 7 years of faithful service. It's been a great processor, but I figured I would try something different. I've tried Line 6, Yamaha, Tri Ac, Digitech, etc, in my search for a replacement. This new Korg has some good amp sims, editing is very easy, the manual is easy to follow and informative. But as far as a replacememnt for GT3? NO WAY! The Boss is miles ahead of the Korg, and now that I have made it past the learning curve, the Korg jsut seems inferior. It felt like somewhwere between an instrument and a toy. Although, some may like it as it is very easy to navigate and does sound good.
Sound Quality
:6
I'm not trying to copy any particular artist with whatever processor I use. I've been playing for 43 years, and have used some good amps. As far the effects on the AX3000G, they are good. The reverbs are limited, but you can find something useable. The choruses are lush and sweet, and the delay is very good. I didn't try any of the more exotic effects, so I really can't comment. But I found the meat and potatoes effects are decent. I play with NO amp. I always go PA only, so a good amp and speaker sim is vital. What bothered me the most about the Korg, is that EVERY amp sim on it has a kind of simulated tube noise or hiss that seems to be built in. The noise gate only makes it go away in between music or when not playing. As soon as you hit a note, there's the hiss. NO GOOD! The reason I use processors in the first place is the get a good PURE sound. Not possible with this unit.
Reliability
:6
The unit seemed trustworthy, but part of it is plastic, the power supply is the wall wart type with a skinny cord, unlike the Boss and Line 6 products that are very sturdy and solid. It didn't seem as solid as my GT3 which, as I stated before, has given me 6 or 7 years of faithful service.

I play a bluesy edgy rock style like the more raucus side of Clapton on a Tele. I've been playing for 43 years, and cut my teeth on The Beatles, Stones, Cream, Hendrix. I own several processors, and have tried most of the popular brands. Compared to the Boss products, the Ax3000G is limited and toy like. I would not try it again.

First of all, I'm from Germany so don't worry bout the grammar... maybe it's bad in some sentences.
Well, the first day I owned this gear I already got a killer sound out of it. It's VERY easy to create your own style: cycle throug the sounds, put up to 5 different effects together, manipulate them a bit and save them on one of.. erm... forgot how many slots there were, but I think around 100. The manual - never really needed it. If you know what words like "delay" or "reverb" mean you surely won't need it either.
The pedal has an extra bar with lamps that show in which position the pedal is, so if you want to keep it in aq certain position you just need to remember the lamps and you can exactly put it back in that position, which is also helpful on gigs where the stage light is not very good. Also there is a tapping function for the delay effect, so if you have a song and want to make the delay sound in a special speed you just need to tap in the right speed on that button and can start immediately, which I think is very cool.
Sound Quality
:8
If you wan't sounds in the Metal/Rock/Punk - direction, I can give 10 points. The only thing that the AX300G needs bit more fine tuning in is some kind of "smooth" jazz or blues sound, it can happen that it sounds a bit too strong, but it's really not too annoying. I use a Hughes&Kettner triplex and haven't had any noise problems yet, just the high gain settings of course are a bit noticeable once in a blue moon.
Reliability

I definetly depend on it, it is very solid-built and there are no plastic parts except the buttons. I think I would use it without a backup, but my amp also has some effects so I can't honestly tell ;-)

If you play heavy music I can only recommend to buy it, but if you want to play Jazz for example you should test it before. Yes, I would buy it again if it was stolen, because I just love the distortion and the delay sounds. I also love that it that is easy to use and that ist is very solid. It is really built for live performances, but if you mainly do studio work I don't think this is your number one choice because it has not as many extra things do experiment with as others have. But still it has many many features which should be more than enough for every gig.

Lets start with the interface : It was very easy to create sounds, well,I had a GSP 2101 from digitech and it was hard to make programs, so I'm really happy that the toneworks is so easy to use. I've read the manual and I've found easily ''what to do and how to do it''.
For the sound, well depending of the setup you've got, It can be long...with my setup, its took a couple of hours of testing and playing, till I have obtained ''the sound'' with my toneworks, my valvetronix and my other gear...
Sound Quality
:10
It sounds so good : no noise, a very good sustain, models sounds good, really cool cabinet emulation,...
You can put the gain to 10,on the Metal distortion and you will get all the sustain you've ever wanted and thus, no noise!!
Models sounds great. Its sounds great when you have found the right sound, but its long, believe me, its worth the time I've took on it to find my sound.
I use it with a Vox Valvetronix(AC15 preset) with a Vox bryan may special to boost the distortion(for extreme music, you will need a little punch more), I play black metal alike Immortal,Burzum...etc.
I used the following presets on my gear:
Toneworks: metal distortion with AC15 cabinet
Vbm1:full gain
Valvetronix:AC15 preset
with the presets like this, it sounds totally great,no noise;except when stop playing, but while playing there is no noise.
I'm not really into effects but, the wah is really great, very easy of use, and I prefer it to my crybaby... The reverbs sounds great, they're really reproducing well the contexts wich they are reproducing.

Well, I had a GSP 2101, I was waiting for it, till it get fixed but my dealer couldn't get the part to fix it so, they gave me this one.At first start..I was not sure if It was good or bad,I never read reviews about it,never heard the sounds it produces, etc. So I was happy cause it was a well complete processor with amp and cab emulation; something I was searching for on a processor...Well now I'm really happy of having this one,I would exchange it for nothing else. Its definitely better than a GSP2101, so it was a good deal.It can do all styles I think, but, me , I play alike norwegian black metal, and It can do the job well.
You will need to play a lot with it to get your sound but it worths the hours spent on it, for the sound i've obtained in result.

This review is only for players that like the ?old? tones and are for example into Jazz or Blues.
Now I play guitar for over 30 years, which doesn?t mean I?m a good player, but I developed some ears for sound (I own a small recording studio to)
So If you are into hardrock, punk or rock and you like the modern distortion sounds of today, then don?t use this review.
First after putting all settings right (line out instead of amp simulator) and putting all effects of and tweak the volume setting so it has the same output as if you would play without te pedal you notice that it really takes of far to much of the original amp sound. I play Fender tube amps and for blues I use a kitty hawk tube amp. It?s not a little bit that disappears IT?S A LOT!. If you like your original sound and you depend on it, then you will not like this pedal only for that reason to start with.
All the nice tube ?twinkling? is gone. High disappears, and both amps don?t sound ?open? anymore. A true bypass switch (which none off all the multi- effects I ever used, have) would solve this problem.
By the way, complaining by users for years and years (all kind of brands) does not seem to help. Most multi-effects have that problem, but this for a starter is far below the acceptable and noticeable more then other multi-effect pedals.
Second, if you are into recording and you like to use it in pre-amp mode(it has 3 ?amp? settings that only work if you use the cabinet simulator to), forget it. The pre-amps suck.
Forget recording directly in your mixing-console or soundcard. (You get a kind of bumping sound with it, high not well balanced and bumping in the low mid) I compared it with a Yamaha magic stomp that I bought 1 year ago (thinking of only using it for it reverbs, which by the way aren?t that good as reviewers said it would be). But by accident I found out that this baby (the Yamaha) really has ?killer? preamps for that job, from clean to warm and jazzy to a Texas blues sound.
So no direct recording with the Korg AX3000g, if you are into serious recording sound wise.
Now the good part
If you forget the preamps (including cabinets and distortions) this unit really shines with some effects, specially the good ?old? ones with that nice analogue warm sound, they are top notch and better then the same effects in many other multi-effects I ever heard.
My favourites are:
The filtron (a kind of autowah) is 10 out of 10 (in sound and in the way you can tweak it too your liking) Use it for the old Herbie Hancock stuff or funkstuff with that old 60/70 sound. (Meters, Parlement, George Clinton), or the new modern poppy jazzy songs that need that little bite to it
Chorus is a 9 out of 10 (really warm, a lot of tweaking possibility?s and a lot of different tastes, no digital art effects what so ever, if you like chorus, you will not be disappointed.
Flangers en Phasers are 8,5 out of 10 same comment as the chorus. (If you like Hendrix, you can make a very nice sounding univibe with it ).
Tremolo is a 8 out of 10, if you own a twin or an other fender amp with tremolo you probably use that, but if you don?t have it, it?s pretty oke. Not that real thick, thick stuff of the original, but fairly close and now digital art effects (the sweep from low amplitude to high has a little bit of a square touch to it. Hardly noticeable but that?s why I give it an 8 and not a 9)
Delays: 9 out of 10
All delays are very very good, although I miss the option of tweaking the low ends of the feedback.
Fairly said, also no digital art effects, and you can make nice analogue delays. (Each feedback-sweep takes a little bit more high-ends away).
Wahwah (voxsimulation) 7 out of 10.
Much better then the ?cheese thing? of the Korg Ax1500g, which was completely useless if you are familiar with the real stuff.
You can tweak the maximum opening of the filter (pedal in flat top stand) and you can tweak the maximum closing of the filter (pedal in maximum downstand), with this options you can make a decent wahwah, though you can not tweak the q- factor nor the frequency of the filter and that gives it a 7 instead of an 8.
Fortunately the frequency and q factor are well chosen.
Anyway you can make a decent nice warm wahwah that has no harshness to it, so it?s not a real Vox (fairly close), but a very nice wah with it?s own character, good for mellow warm stuff.
Reverb
Now hear I?m a little bit confused and don?t know really what to say about it.
All reverbs when you dial them in are with to much low ends. (Compared with the spring reverb of my fender which I like very much) Now you can tweak that and also the high-ends but if you do that you will find that even the longest reverb is not that long.
They are still long enough, like the springreverb of my fender but then you will find that you want to tweak the mids also (to much mid to my liking and compared with the real stuff) and that is not possible.
Still I managed to make a couple of reverbs that are very useable on stage and they sound good and very clear and ?open? (not fender though) No hissing in the tail or strange sounds or frequencies in the tail which problems you often find in a cheap reverb . Korg has had always trouble with the reverbs in all of there multi-effects and this is the best one I ever heard from Korg (much better then the ax1500g or older pedals)
So I give it a 7 out of 10, because it has a little bit to much mids and the maximum reverb time is to short.
Octaver: 9 out of 10
Good tracking, and fairly growling sound (a bit like the old boss octaver)
Pitchshifter: 8 out of 10
If you want to play the solo from ?Owner of a lonely heart? (Yess - Trever Horn) you can do it with this thing. Good tracking.
That?s about the sounds. (I?m not going to comment the specific hard rock things this pedal can do, read the other comments for that)
Then there?s a guitar tuner, which does what it supposed to do (good tracking, also the high thin strings), although I?m pretty sure that if you play in the daytime outside and the sun is shining, you will not see a thing on the display.
The way it?s build. Well I did not open it yet. These days most electronic devices the way they are built use a print as basis and they solder everything to it, including plugs and knobs.
That means that if something breaks (your input for example) it?s a pain to repair.
At least they used the Fender type in and output plugs, although not in metal but the plastic ones. No friction with this type of plugs (normally) or making bad contact after a while.
Although make sure nobody will step on the jackend of your guitar cable where it goes into your Korg. If the inputs and outputs are soldered to the print (and I bet, that they are) they will break or more likely, you will damage the inside electronics. (Tip, use angled jacks on your cables where they go into your Korg)
For the rest, very well built (much better then the ax1500g for example) nice control pedal (very heavy built, with a nice sweap), it feels like it will last. And it looks gorgeous in black, with all that little lights which all by the way have there useful functions.
This also brings me to the last part.
This pedal is very easy to tweak, you can use the software, but after reading the manual (for some small basic things that you have to understand) you are dialling in your own sounds in minutes and store them. If something is tweakable while making sounds the lights will show which knobs are there for tweaking and they blink after you changed values. Very very well done (in fact they already started with this concept in earlier tone works pedals, but here the concept became close to it?s final stage)
Must give it a 10 for that.
What I like also, is the fact that you can use it stompbox wise. In other words if you choose a program, with one click of your feat you can change it?s behaviour and put it in a different mode where you can switch of or on the five main effect blocks.
1 pr fx, which holds for example the wah and octaver.
2 Drive/amp, which holds distortions and cabinets (I probably will find one effect in this section that is useable for crunch, although I don?t like this section for a bit, as said before)
3 Modulation
4 Delay
5 Reverb
If you want to use it like that, the trick is to tweak all effects till you like them individual as well as in a certain chain. When you are ready, then put off all individual effects and store your program.
Now if you choose this particular program and go into ?stompboxmode? you have five different boxes you can switch on. (and off)
Final conclusion.
As mentioned before, there are some serious problems.
To much loss of the originally sound of your amp (way, way to much).
No good pre-amps (I know what I?m talking off)
Very, very weak distortion section if you are Mr. (Or Mrs.) Analogue.
On the other hand, it has a lot of real shining old sounding effects if you are Mr. (Or Mrs.) Analogue.
I?m waiting for the Korg Ax4000g, which all the improvements it needs (yeah I like to record without an amp, and I need at least one good distortions in a multi-effect, this one has none for my needs)
I give it an overall mark of 6 (I know that that is low), because those pre-amps, the distortion and lose of sound in ?bypass? mode. In fact I?m not sure I will use it on stage for that last reason, because I like to play my amp clean as well. So or I?m going to built a kind of a/b switch, so I can bypass this unit or I will drop it on E-bay and tell potentional buyers to look on Harmoney Central for reviews, hoping they don?t read this one and know it?s me they are buying it from.
Come on Korg you are almost there, I prefer to pay 50 dollars more for the ultimate, then ending up with this mixed feelings.
The guitarman.

Im using an ESP M250 and a peavey poweramp.
THis pedal sucks fpr metal, meta dist, US Modern oder Uk Modern sucks a lot, not good for metal. very fuzzy...
For blues and rock ist good enough.
cleanund the whole cabinetshit sucks also, the EQ ist not effektive enough.
noise gate ist good, but makes your sound shorter. if you want to hold the sound fur 5 sek, the noise gate will short the sound down to 2.3 sekonds.
the VOX wahwah ist the only thing that i enjoy at this pedal, its like a VoX wahwah pedal.
ESS , modulations, Echo und reverb aber also very good.
i give it an 7, because has good modulations und ESS work well, noisegate make the sound shorter and because its good vor rock blues, pop, punk etc... but not for metal.
If you want a metal sound go and buy a randal or a engl preamp.

I play Strat copy with mid class pickups H-S-H and I was pretty surprised with the sound - I had POD2 before and I thing that AX3000G models are far far better (to my ears:) The point is NOT to use standard guitar equipment (tube amps, boxes etc. - as described with PSA1 and other modellers). The best sound you get with combo for an acoustic guitar (as I do) or with any "flat" PA amp and speaker - let the modelling do its job. I use the Trace Acoustic combo (which is the smallest 50W in the world, I think :) and all the sounds from crystal clean to "metal apocalypse" are amazing.

Well I have owned this unit for about five months now and I am just now getting past the factory settings. They are all really great. Even the ESS is fun to play with if you give it some time. I have found that the settings are easy to flip through. Now that I have begun to venture out and find what this unit can really do, I have discovered a whole new world. The factory presets are easy to modify and it is easy to create my own patches. I like being able to name the patches that I created. The muted tuner is a great tool. The owner's manual is laid out nicely.

I am playing a Fender Strat Floyd Rose model through the Toneworks into a good quality 16 channel soundboard. At home I use wireless headphones. The comments that I have received from those listening have all been good. There isn't any loud hisses and no pops or static when switching between programs. To be honest, I haven't had to use the noise gate yet. I think that the overdrive and cabinet models sound reasonably true and the effects are excellent in quality. O.K., I really, really like the overdrive models. I also like to use the Wah, chorus, and the acoustic sim. I have even been known to play my Martin DC-16 (Fishman Blend) through the chorus with some delay. The only patches that I can't bring myself to use are the synth effects in Patch 8. Whoah!!

Originally, I was shopping for an amp and had narrowed my search down to the Vox Valvetronix. I had learned that Korg was making the electronics for Vox, so I went to the Korg website. That led me to a few music stores and weeks of research. I looked at Boss, Digitech, and Line 6. This one beats them all. This unit meets my needs and lets face it, with all of the amp and cabinet models in this unit, it is like owning one of everything. The versatility is amazing. I have been hard pressed to find any bad reviews for this unit in the press or on the Web. One comment that I found sums it up for me. "Korg doesn't put out crap." I have been playing guitar for 25 years and have played everything from Hard Rock,Hair Metal, Death Metal, Blues, some Classical, to Contemporary Christian Music. I love it all. After the rut that I had been in for the last couple of years, I have opened up and begun to create again. Guitar is fun again!
