To the AX300G (and AX30G) community:
After a long, long, break, I'm finally getting back to revising and updating my AX30/300G page. If you have designed any cool patches in the past year, please e-mail them to me. If they sound halfway decent, I'll be glad to post them (giving you full credit, of course!).
The address of the AX30/300G page is: http://www.wizard.net/~jtsinger/ax30g.html
If that doesn't work, you can try: http://www.wizard.net/~jtsinger/ax30g1.html
Sorry about the delays in updating this page!

I would reccomend reading the manual a few times leisurely, and then tear into it. The backlit display and the lighting of the rest of the unit is exceptional. It is quite versitile, and gives you quite a bit more control of parameters than other units. I have used the boss me-30 and am quite happier with this unit than that.

Sound Quality : 10
I am playing a custom-built strat-style guitar, Warmoth body and neck, Ernie Ball Albert Lee pickups, through the ax300g, and then into an early 70's Fender Champ amp. The unit is very quiet, the only thing that is strange is that the clean factory presets are at a lower level than the distorted ones. The vast majority of the factory presets are very usefull and can be put in the user banks for switching during a gig. I have achieved tones like that of hendrix, trower, vai, stevie ray,stp and many others.

Reliability : 10
I have only had it a few days, but I would definitely use it without backup, so far.so good

Customer Support : 5
I called Korg to see if the ax300g was going to be replaced soon and if it was backordered. Like any big company now, I was switched to several departments, on hold for at least 5 mins. And no, they said it was not to be replaced any time soon, and not on backorder.

Overall Rating : 10
I checked out Boss,Digitech, and Zoom, and was totally impressed with the sounds, and sound-quality, of the ax300g. I play a lot of bluesier stuff, but also a lot of heavy stuff, and can do both with this unit. I also have a DOD EQ, Boss DS1, and an Ibanez Distortion charger, I found that putting the EQ after the ax300g really kicks ass, and will try the distortion boxes with it as well. Obviously when you have a lot of cool tonalities at your disposal, it will encourage your playing, and creativity.

You have to spend some time (3 hours?) experimenting with it. 28 effects, 6 simultaneously. Manual is useless.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using this with an Ibanez RG and a Crate RX15R. It improved my guitar's and amp's sound. It's noisy but there's a noise reduction button that works excellent. The distortion of the korg is a lot better than the boss metal zone, a lot more crunch that you'll need ever! It makes my crappy crate sound like a mesa boogie tri-axis! (no, I'm not insane) Modulation is excelent as well as all the other effects except maybe for the wah that is total crap (but I don't care cause that's why I have the crybaby) -I give it a 9.

Reliability : No Opinion
I can't say it's durable because I bought it yesterday!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't know.

I play progressive metal (Angra, DreamTheater) and for the price it's the best multieffects pedal out there! I've been playing for 4 years and I've owned a pro co rat(not suited for my style) and a Crybaby (you know it's great) and this thing is the perfect complement to my rig. Buy it!

Well the manual is there anyway and it tells you how to do stuff but to really get good sounds you just have to jump out on your own and just do it (unintentional nike reference). Its easy to use unless you are playing and want to tweak your sound a bit...you have to bend over and push a button then spin a nob then push a button then spin a nob etc....but aside from that its good.

Sound Quality : 9
I really like the sound of this unit. I do, however, only use the vintage and classic settings for distortion cause the others are just too much for me. Switchin between effects could be better, I dont really like the little "skip" in the sound but I do like the individual switching, now if only the swtitching between effets was as seamless. My setup is my new delux super strat (woo hoo? i guess) and my 210 watt solid state carvin head and a 2X14 cab I built with carvin british lead speakers.....we are talking a lot of sound here...One thing I really like about this unit is the glorious feedback a la Nick McCabe and The Verve. All you need is this and a guitar with a wammy bar and you are there if you are into that. Perhaps a bit more delay, but Im happy with it.

Reliability : 10
yeah its good. I've never had any problems with it, but then I am a drummer who just decided to go out and buy a bunch of guitar equipment and take up a new hobby. So I dont gig with it. I am a bit concerned with wrapping the cord around that little plastic thing to keep it from getting ripped out....Id rather have it ripped out than in half..

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

I have been very pleased with this unit, of course it is my first digital multi effects pedal, but I know what I like to hear, and I like to hear this.

This is my first effects unit and i found no troubles getting started. It took me a couples hours of fiddling around, but I soon got the hang of what I am doing. Editing patches is really easy, but the only problem is that I didn't know what some of the effects did. The manual doesn't really give a good description on what does what in the patches. I've also heard that Korg was going to upgrade the unit to an AX300GU, but that might just be a rumor

Sound Quality : 9
I have a pretty weak setup of a Lotus guitar and a Dean Markley 15 watt amp right now (I've only been playin for 1.5 years), but the sound quality is really great!!! If an effect has a buzz on it, all you have to do is turn up the Noise Reduction and your set. Most of the patches I've made sound decent, but some sound liike crap. All the effects sound good when you learn what settings do what. I play music from all era's and have found or made a patch to work with all the areas of music.

Reliability : 10
So far so good, no problems here.

Overall Rating : 10
This unit is definitely worth the money. You can keep 32 user patches with this thing and it comes 100 presets. Most of the presets sound good and with a little fine tuning they sound good. I'd would seriously recommend buying this processor. I've also heard that the Expression pedal and Volume pedals sound really good, but i haven't got either of them. So you might want to look into them

The manual is somewhat confusing at first but with just a little practice I was off and running in just a few hours. I was very impressed with the number of presets in the unit but not all of them are that useful. The presets are a little heavy on distortion sounds. The thing I really like about this unit is the amount of control you have over editing individual features and chains of effects. Verrrry nice.

Sound Quality : 9
I use an Epiphone Les Paul Classic and Fender Telecaster thru a Peavey Bandit 112 and an old Music Man 212 tube amp. All the clean sounds (delays, reverbs, etc.) sound absolutely KILLER in stereo. The higher gain stuff sounds ok but I have to back off the highs with the Peavey. I haven't noticed any noise problems with the high distortion sounds. However one has to be very careful when setting input and output levels on the chorus/flanger sounds, sometimes you don't get the full effect that you want. I agree with others who say that the chorus on this unit isn't as good as it could be but I've found that the ModDelay effect can substitute nicely if you work it right. I play in a jamming band and have been able to get some great presets a la Santana/Trey Anastasio and I have a terrific Jerry Garcia autowah type effect that goes great with country rock type stuff. One word for the wise, though: Get an expression pedal if you can because the Pressure pedal is difficult if not impossible to use in gig situations.

Reliability : 10
I've used it at gigs w/no backup several times with no problems. I was worried because of the plastic chassis but it seems to hold up ok if you don't jump up and down on the poor thing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt w/ the company.

Overall Rating : 10
The most important thing I can say about this unit is that I can use it in many different settings. I play thru it live but I can also set it up at home and play thru headphones w/o annoying the neighbors. Big Plus there. Also I can say that this unit allows me to create sounds that inspire me with other ideas, and what could be better than that? For the price this is probably one of the best multi-fx out there.

- this one is a plug'n'play unit :-) - editing is quite easy, but IMHO IPE is not very useful. - manual is very brief, but okay. just browsed through it for an hour, and began using the unit.

Sound Quality : 9
fender std strat and a tiny park amp. it is a bit noisy - but for it's price it is okay. i like its sound, but i wish factory presets to be nicer - but if you tweak them a bit, you will get your exact sound all the effects are very fair - just nice, except for wah, which is wonderful, IMHO :-)

Reliability : 10
reliability is excellent, although it is plastic. the main benefit is its lightweight - i can't afford myself to carry a 5kg digitech rp7. :-( :-)

Customer Support : No Opinion
none needed.

Overall Rating : 10
i play all the music styles - guitar breakbeat, brit-pop, r'n'r, heavy metal and lottsa others - the match is great. it is an excellent unit for its price, but if you want a C( )( )L processor, go buy an RP-20. if you want to get most outta it - buy an external pedal. the built-in one is not very precise :-( the unit does not inspire me to make music - i just tell it what sound i need and i get it. just the workhorse - all i needed. in the beginning i wanted to buy an RP-6 or RP-7, but they had no LCD display :-(. if i lose the unit, i think i'll buy myself an RP-20 for home and studio recordings, and lend an AX300G from my friend for live performances :-)

Hello, just making a quick insertion here, though I'm out of my catagory a bit.I don't own an AX-300G yet?(you lucky dogs)but I have an AX-30G. (don't mean to presume but) I think there may be enough similarities between them,at least in general use and perhaps in specific sounds, that a new buyer of the AX-300G might benefit buy checking out comments on the AX-30,as well as peoples locations for patches. This may be obvious but I just wanted to pass it on.thanks(and oh yeah, hope you have some fun!)

Editing patches is easy once you get the hang of it. The manual isn't written with utmost clarity but it does the job. Getting a good sound out of this is much easier with a hybrid amp or an all tube.

Sound Quality : 8
Guitars: a Fender Strat or a Penco Paul w/DiMarzio "SuperDist." in the Neck and a "PAF pro" in the bridge.
Amps: Marshall Valvestate 8080 1x12 combo, Marshall MOSFET 100 on a 4x12 JCM 800 cab.
I run the effects stereo. It is definitely good on the stereo effects. The distortions through my solid state head get on my nerves. The hybrid combo handles them very well. I have tried te AX300G through a Jubilee head and gotten excellent Creed, Tool, Stone Temple Pilots distortions.
The multi-effects kick serious butt. The only qualm I have is switching between patches is not smooth. The sound fades out then comes back in. That sucks when your building up a song then you want some meaty distortion. The transition needs to be a lot smoother.

Reliability : 10
I have used this at gigs without a backup. It is very reliable. I have had it for half a year without problems.

For any style music out there involving an electric guitar. Works well with both single coils and humbuckers. Not so good with solid state amps. Awesome with Tubes. The amp simulater sucks but who needs one of those anyway. Excellent price. Has a Tuner. Stereo effects are excellent. Needs better effects switching. Better than BOSS ME-30 and DOD Tecs., FX-7. Good at recreating many artist's sounds. Steve Vai is easy as pie on this thing. I got the perfect Stone Temple Pilots 'Plush' sound. Excellent Blues reverbs. Thick clean jazz tones as well. Awesome wah.
