Usage is OK. Well, you have to use the table on the top of the device, which is not exactly easy. And if you really want to know which parameters you're editing, you need the manual. But once you have your sounds set up, it's easy to use.

Sound Quality : 4
I think sound quality is around average. It is better than a bad amp, but not at all as good as a good amp. Sampling rate is 32khz, which gives it a natural cutoff somewhere below 16khz (Shannon's Theorem). I tried to use this device for recording. In the piece I wanted to use three bass tracks but in the end I found the sound too dull to achieve any brilliance on my 24/44,1 recording rig. The sound might be OK on a middle class PA in a live situation, but for recording, this device doesn't deliver you any good quality, better go directly into the mixing console or recording interface and tweak around with some VSTs.

Reliability : 6
It looks like a cheap case made from plastics. I usually wear my heavy boots on stage, and I wouldn't dare to stomp on that one in action. The requirement for an external power supply and the typical shaky connector don't improve the situation...

Customer Support : No Opinion
No need for support yet, so no opinion.

Overall Rating : 6
This device is OK for the price, but it's not really worth using it other than for playing around with FX a little. It's too insecure for stage use and it doesn't sound good enough for recording.

If you want to explore the world of FX and modeling without spending too much, it might be of use.

It was very easy to get use to. It has two pedals. When it's in program mode (all the programs are set) the two pedals move it up or down. To create your own sound, go to a desired effect on the big knob and use the buttons around the smaller knob to choose one of the listed effects at the top. To change the value or speed of the effect, tap the up/value and twist the little knob until you have your desired sound. You can do this with up to 6 effects at the same time.

Sound Quality : 10
I use either a old 1967 silvertone bass or a dean edge-09 with a behringer amp. Make sure you're using good cables or you'll get some noise (but some noise is just created in the pedal). The distortion is a little cheesy. If you want good distortion, you MUST buy a Big Muff distortion pedal. They're amazing! But if you don't have the money, an old toneworks bass model has some really good sounds. If you're looking for a heavy, bassy, DFA1979 sound (I was) go with the Big Muff. But if you're looking for a sort of metaly Dragonforce sound or a cool easy vintage sound, go with this. This does have great chorus, filter, and delay effect and a very cool "slow attack" effect. If you want to hear what it sounds like, you can listen to it on my band's myspace. Go to music and type in Five Day Forecast in the seach bar and we're the one in New Hampshire.

Hmmmmm. It looks pretty sturdy but wouldn't like getting smashed around. One good thing is that the batteries aren't 9V so it's more likely that you have something with AA batteries that you could take the batteries out of and put in the pedal if you needed to.

Customer Support : 10
Korg is very friendly when it comes to customer support. I've never had a problem with this pedal though. They also have the manuals all online so if you need it it's on the Korg website.

Overall Rating : 9
It's a great pedal for anyone who likes effects but doesn't want to pay the big bucks for buying all the different pedals. If you spend a little more money, you can get the ax5b which comes with a handy expression pedal. But this is good to get the job done! If you have any questions call Korg and if you have any questions you don't want a biased answer to (companies do that a lot) email me.

Can be a bit of a bitch to get your head around some things (adjusting parameters etc). It's easy enough to get some decent sounds Distortion, Octave, Reverb etc.

Sound Quality : 9
very easy to get around the world intro distortion. can pretty much get any sound you like. some effects are kinda crap but you can always tweak them to your specifications. compressor is particularly good. can be a little noisy at times and depending on the effect the volume seems to fluctuate quite a lot. I use it with a small 20w amp at home and through a Peavey TNT 115 for Band practice works well in both situations.

Reliability : 5
It's never cut out or anything like that but it is at the end of the day a cheap plastic casing bu then again you get what you pay for. I would use without backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

I play Rock/Brit-pop and slap style funk and it works great for both. If lost or stolen I would buy something else like a behringer V amp or just some seperate Overdrive Octave etc pedals again from behringer as their stuff seems from experience to be very good. often this unit is too complicated. Basically I would say this thing can be very fun for a while but to be honest most people just don't need all these effects. It's much better to go for a few quality pedals that you need rather than a multi effects with loads that you dont. however for the price it's a great all-in-one.

Good news: This unit doesn't use those expensive 9 volt PP3 batteries. It uses much cheaper AA batteries x 4, but the bad news is that these only seem to last about 5 hours. My advise is to use high capacity rechargeables, or the separately available AC adaptor. Programming this unit isn't intuitive. The owners manual is essential, but isn't like "War and Peace" so you won't waste too much time reading when you should be playing! The disadvantage of this unit compared to a series of separate effects pedals is that instead of just reaching down and adjusting a control or two to modify a sound, creating a new sound with the AX3B takes a bit longer. But the intention with this unit is that you create your sounds in your own time and store them as programs. You can then quickly call up the required program number using the "up" or "down" pedals when playing live and this is where the AX3B really comes into its own. LEDS's are used to mark the pedals and for the central display, so it's visible on a dark stage. Creating your own programs is as easy or as complex as you want it to be. When selecting each of the effects to build up a program, the unit defaults to the most effective parameters for each effect. But these parameters are also adjustable, potentially giving what must be an incredible number of permutations. The owners' manual includes a table detailing what parameters are available.

Sound Quality : 9
When I first came across this unit and saw the price, I wasn't expecting miracles and worried that it might be more of a toy than a serious piece of professional gear. I'm pleased to say I was wrong. The sounds are great and a quick trawl through the 40 factory pre-set programs reveals plenty that most bassists will find useful. I particularly go for the delay or chorus based programs but wouldn't recommend that you buy this for the fretless program - it's an OK attempt, but falls far short of the woody tones, whoops and slides of the real thing. I use this effect only occasionally, with both my fretted and fretless basses, through a Behringer BX108 combo. The unit can be a little noisy on some settings, but it does have built in, adjustable, noise reduction, so I have yet to find a setting where noise is a problem. I have been able to get pretty close to some of the sounds used by the likes of Stanley Clarke and Mark King and just being able to do this (without necessarily being able to equal their mastery of the bass!) can do wonders for your confidence and enthusiasm!

Reliability : 8
The AX3B has a plastic case, but it looks and feels solid enough. At the price, you can't expect a metal case and there are plenty of more expensive units that have this if it's important to you. As battery life is short, you'll need to make sure you can get to the end of a gig without running out of power - so maybe the AC adaptor is the best solution here. You could always buy a backup unit in case of problems, but you'll have to remember that any programs you create on your first unit, you'll also have to create on the backup.

Have owned Korg products before, but never needed customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
I've played bass a long time but as I'd only want to use effects occasionally, I never felt like blowing huge amounts of cash on pedals for compression, chorus, delay, octave, etc. I bought this because it offers a large range of sounds within one unit that costs less than most of the better single effects pedals. I have eclectic musical tastes and this unit copes with it all, it's definitely an aid to creativity and - I would buy it again if stolen or lost. Even if (like me) you only bought this unit for the chorus and delay effects, it's still better value than buying separate effects pedals. Add to this the many other effects it offers and it really is one serious box of tricks! I almost forgot to mention - the unit includes a built in tuner that not only tunes to the traditional GDAE, but will allow you to try other tunings and will handle basses with 5+ strings. It even has a mute setting - very handy for switching guitars when playing live. Maybe if you're heavily into effects, you'll want more than this device has to offer but if you want a professional sounding array of effects at minimum cost/hassle and maximum quality/convenience then the Korg AX3B is what you've been waiting for.

Very easy to use and to get decent sounds out of it. Fantastic sounding delay imo. Reverb, chorus, flanger.. there are some crappy ones too, but because there are about 3 different patches of these effects there's always at least one good one :)
The manual is very easy to read, heck the whole pedal is a piece of cake to work with.

Sound Quality : 8
I use an Ibanez SR500 bass and an SWR Workingman 2x10C amp.
Some of the effects are, as stated above, crap. Then again, if you don't like chorus X, use chorus Y or Z.. but most of the patches sound good. The distortions are all pretty much crap, though. Don't know about the amp modellers because I don't use them. I use the compressor too, and I like it!

Reliability : 6
I could 'depend' on it, because I think it won't break too soon. Then again, it's made out of plastic.. and it looks like it wouldn't like to be stepped upon :)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them

I play mostly hardcore/post hardcore. Sometimes I like do experiment with delay, and other effects. It does the trick, it sounds good and it isn't expensive. I'd certainly buy me another one if it were stolen.
I compared it to a digitech box of the same price range, but I liked this one better.

A little bit complicated but if you read the manual, its easy!
But the presets are very good so there is no need to change anything.
Only if you look for a particular sound, but at least everything i need is already set up!

Sound Quality : 8
Great sound.
Even if you use a bad sounding bass it will improve your sound.
Presets are good.
You have many presets, one for every day of the year.
There are presets, if you use the effekt with your amp, an if you use it directly into your PA-System.
It has an fretless sound, oktaver, chorus, sounds with delay....
All the AMP-Sounds are quite good.

Reliability : 6
Well its a plastic box.
I wouldnt throw it against a wall, but its ok!

no need for support so no answer.but its a korg....

Good,i would bye it again
