I use this with a strat copy guitar. Dependable tuning - sensitive but not wildly oscillating. Tuning using the built in mic is also very good - I use it to practice singing scales!

Seems reliable enough. I have had it for over a year and use it regularly. It is still on its first battery.

Definitely the best entry level tuner. Unless, you need a strobe tuner, this should be good enough.

the tuner was great for about a year and then it began to die on me. i will admit, i was harsh to it and it spent many a jam session sitting on top of my amp vibrating, falling off music stands onto hard floors, being tossed around, etc. then after about a year of abuse it began to die on me. sometimes it wouldn't turn on and i'd have to slap it a couple times to turn it on. now it is completely dead and i've checked the batteries and everything...no power. the moral of the story is, be nice to your tuner and it won't die. still, the fact that it crapped out on me after pretty average wear and tear upsets me. i'm just gonna buy a new one because it really is a good deal, but this one is going to be wrapped in bubble wrap and duct tape and will survive any abuse! still only gets a 5 due to the first ones death.

i play in a gigging band and it didn't hold up as long as i'd like. it really needs an output jack, that way i could run it thru my signal before it hits the amp and could tune to mid-set. instead i have to unplug and tune up on an unsteady surface and the cable gets yanked by someone walking by and the tuner goes BAM!! against the concrete floor. and that really sucks. other than that, tuned both my electric and acoustic guitar perfectly. also allows you to tune to just about any tuning.

This is a good all-purpose tuner. It worked fine for my 5-string bass, both electric and acoustic guitars and even for my trombone. One time I even held it in front of me while I sang during church choir because I was frustrated with my lack of singing skills and it even worked on that! I never even had to look at the manual because the four buttons are well-labeled. This had more features than I'd ever use for the music that I do. I kinda wish it had an output jack.

This tuner is typical of lower-end tuners. The tuning stability is somewhat lacking. The digital "needle" waivers a good bit, making it a little harder to tune than it would be with an analog tuner. This wouldn't be as nice as say a Sabine ST-1100, especially if you were tuning in the dark. I also wouldn't want it to be dropped or crushed at all since the case is a little on the flimsy side

I got this online from zzounds.com on sale for $12 with no shipping and it was a good deal. It isn't the worlds greatest tuner, but for $12 it was awesome! If you don't mind the way the tuner has a hard time zeroing in on the note, then it's fine. If you are a tuning-nazi stay away. All in all, it's a great value.

Bought this a week ago, 2.5 months after I bought my first guitar. I knew I'd need one sooner or later, and my I wanted to tune to drop D and stuff. Easy to use. Four buttons:
- Calibration for what else, calibration. Can be calibrated from 430 to 449hz
- Auto. Pluck the string and it will tell you where you are on the chromatic scale, how many cents off zero (flat and sharp) you are. Again, very easy.
- Manual Note. Press this, and press how many times you need to get the note that you want to tune to. Simple.
- Power. OK class, what happens when we push this?
Has mic for acoustic instruments, imput jack for electrics. No Output, though for going into the amp. Powered by 2 AAA batteries.

Easy to use and does a good job. Sampling rate is low so the closer you get, the less accurate it is, but for $20..who's complaining?

no problems with it so far and for the price, I'd doubt I'd go back to the company for warrany repairs. You could eat up twenty bucks in postage when it'd be easier to buy a new one.

I use it for tuning bagpipes. Our A is closer to Bflat, so I have to adjust the calibration to figure out where I'm at in Hertz. Again, for $20 bucks it does a credible job and I intend to keep it. I'll probably upgrade to a more expensive unit to use in tuning the band. Unsteady blowing leads to inaccurate readings w/low sampling rate.

With my acoustic guitar it locks on quickly, is easy to read,
and seems quite accurate. It's a bargain. I looked at
several tuners in the $50 - $70 range, and this one is
as quick, easy and accurate as any.

Straight forward for a tuner. Being able to dial-in the "A" frequency is especially helpful in group where one instrument may be an out-of-tune piano.

the CA-20 does its job well. Why buy a metal brick if a small, light

Mostly a very simple device. Plug it in and turn it on. If you don't like that (or have an acoustic), just turn it on and use the built in mic. Manual mode and calibrating are simple to figure out. Who needs a manual?

Well.. It has worked good, and is consistant, but it is a cheap piece of plastic with a little lcd and circuit board. You'll see when you install the batteries. But what do you expect for the price? As for using it without a backup.. I know how to tune a guitar without it, if I need to, do you?

Overall it's a very nice cheap tuner. Very simple and small enough to fit in a shirt pocket. If lost I would buy another just like it. The only thing I wish it had is an output jack and make it passthrough, and maybe backlight the lcd for you gigging types. Enjoy.

Everybody seems to either recommend the Boss TU-12($80) or the Korg tuners(many models, but many people recommend the CA-20). I bought the TU-12 first because it's supposed to be a more "professional" tuner. But I bought the CA-20 and it tunes just as accurately, with a nice meter, so is very similar to the Boss. The main thing the Boss has that the Korg CA-20 doesn't is an output. So when you tune your guitar on the Korg, you have to unplug it from the amp and plug it into the Korg. I took the Boss back because I just couldn't justify paying $80 for a tuner when for $20 I got the same functionality, same accuracy and a nice, compact package.
I saw the CA-10 had some mediochre comments on it, but I'm not sure if they were defective or what not, but this CA-20 is alright! I use this mainly for guitar. I don't know why people buy guitar tuners because I like to check the accuracy of the notes all the way up the scale.
One additional feature I like in the Korg is that it has a higher frequency range. I can check the tune of any note on my fingerboard on my Strat(22 frets) where with the Boss TU-12, it only goes up to B after the twelfth fret on the high E string. I think the TU-12H might fix that.
Overal, for general use, I think it's not worthwhile to spend good money on a tuner when this $20 piece does the job.
