Ease of Use : 10
Very straightforward operation for basic tuning, I don't really use any of the dropped settings or alternate pitches. It identifies and automatically tracks notes consistently, making large tuning adjustments (i.e. changing keys) very easy, even on a noisy stage. Nice and bright, definitely don't have to be right in front of it to see what's going on. It does what it's supposed to do, does it well (in my opinion) -- I like it.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I don't have it in my signal chain... I run it out of an effects loop with nothing going to the return, so it also serves as a mute. The few times I've plugged straight through it I haven't noticed any significant change in signal or added noise though.

Reliability : 10
I haven't had any problems with it at all. I keep it protected in a rack case and power it through a Furman, so I'm pretty nice to it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed to call them.

Overall Rating : 10
Works well, I'm in tune... I'd recommend it if you can tolerate lugging a rack case around.

Very simple to use.

Well, this is where I had some problems. This unit gave me fits, trying to find where my weird noise was coming from. I was shocked to find it was this unit. Let me describe it this way, it sounded like 10 percent of my audio was getting split off and run through a Boss HM-2 distortion pedal. Then getting remixed in with my clean tone. The fix was simple; I just plugged it into an unused FX send from my Rockman Sustainor, (which I use for clean tones) as the input to the tuner???keeps the tuner out of the loop.

Reliability : No Opinion
Yes. it's plastic. For the money, it should have been aluminum but...oh well.

One of the things I noticed myself doing was, Since I don???t have all the notes on the neck memorized, I often look at the tuner real quick to see what note I am playing???an unexpected side benefit.

This tuner is retardedly simple to use. The front has an input, and the back has both in and out which. Totally easy.

Sound Quality : 10
Well, it's a tuner, so there shouldn't be any noticable noise, and there isn't. The mute option is nice, and definitely a key feature of this tuner so that you don't have to deal with the annoying situation of having to make the audience listen to you tune your guitar or bass.

Reliability : 10
I've been using this thing about a month, already played several shows with it. If you keep it in decent a rack case, I can almost guarantee there won't be any problems with it. Like the last reviewer said, the plastic front really isn't an issue since it's heavy duty and will be covered by a rack cover anyway.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had to deal with korg at all.

Overall Rating : 10
I use this directly into my Peavey 5150 II and Peavey XXX (ABY'D) through mesa rectifier cabs, with my noise suppressor (boss NS-2) and tube screamer (Ibanez TS9) going into it. I play in a touring heavy hardcore band that tunes to B. I bought this after my boss tu-2 was stolen at a show (which, in my opinion are the best tuners for the money, but I got offered one of these for a decent price so went for it). I decided to upgrade to a rack setup so that I can keep everything locked away and secured. There's no undesired noise, and it recognizes the notes very quickly with a nice range of LEDs. In addition to being an awesome tuner, this thing also looks badass, like something that came out of nightriders car. Get it.

It was too easy to use. I just plugged it in and tuned first thing, without reading the manual. I actually got it 1 hour before a show, and didn't have time to play with it. I just mounted it in the rack and threw the rack in my car and ran to the show.
It has front and rear mounted jacks, but I have used only the rear mounted input jack.

Sound Quality : 9
I play bass, and this tuner is in my rack with my Galien-Krueger 400RB III bass head, a DBX 166XL compressor, and my Shure wireless unit receiver.
I don't know if the unit is noisy, because I don't have it in my signal path that leads to the power section of the bass amp. GK bass amps have a 'Tuner Out' jack on them that doesn't not come back into the amp. That's the jack that I use to plug the Korg tuner into.

I gave this category a 9 rating, because it doesn't affect my quality at all...really should be a Not Applicable category on the rating system.

Reliability : 9
Well, I didn't read the reviews here before I ordered it. I read them AFTER I ordered it, but before I received the tuner. So I was worried about all the "plastic" comments that I read here. But when I got the box from Musicians Friend, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened it and saw that the unit was made of steel, and only the faceplate was made of plastic. That's okay with me, because the face plate of the tuner is actually protected by being in my rack, and it's a pretty hard plastic. It's not fragile. The buttons are push buttons, with no knobs to break off. I can see how you wouldn't want to use this rack-mounted tuner out of a rack, IF you were the kind of person who abuses equipment or has a lot of equipment 'accidents' or 'mishaps'. If you are rough on equipment, put it in a rack and you won't have any trouble. As someone else mentioned, the jacks are plastic. That shouldn't be a problem if you plan for it, and wire it accordingly. Mine is permanently wired inside the rack, so there is no plugging and unplugging of cables. I just hit the power switch to the rack, and everything comes on with no plugging up of anything.

Customer Support : 9
Never dealt with Korg on this tuner.
I did have a Marshall 100 watt head several years ago that I had to call Korg about because I burned up a transformer in it. They had me a new one at my door in a week and a half.
That was my only experience with them, and it was a few years ago...I don't know how they are now.

Overall Rating : 9
I play rock/dance/funk/R&B. Everyone needs a tuner, regardless of style. I am a clubbing musician, and I put my gear through a lot. I've been playing 26 years (hey, when did I get this old?)
I would buy it again today if it were stolen. I love the large display that you can see from anywhere in a club, under any lighting conditions.
Musicians Friend only had the Fender unit and the Korg unit listed as rack mounted tuners in their catalog, and I wanted to get away from my floor pedal tuner (Boss pedal). I called my guitarist and he told me he had a Sabine rack tuner unit years ago, and he said go ahead and get the Korg. So I took his advice. Glad I did. My only thing is that I thought this was a little pricey for a tuner. I'm not complaining, but if had been 10 bucks more, I wouldn't have bought it. It was at the absolute top end of what I was willing to spend for a rack-mount tuner.

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy to use...plug in and tune! I dont really go deep into the features of the DTR-1000...I just use it as a chromatic tuner, but thats all I need

Sound Quality : 10
Awesome...perfectly clear and transparent. I plugged it in and noticed no difference in my sound.

Basically heres my setup....

guitar - Boss TU-2 (i still use it for a quick tune in a song...just in case) - Boss PH-1R - Korg DTR-1000 - ART 15 band EQ - Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier.

Reliability : 9
Well, it is all plastic, but seems pretty sturdy....its in a rack so wont get damaged.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Its great...just bought it, love it, would buy it again.

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy. Only has five buttons and the manaul tells you what they do. I can't remember the last time I touched a button on this thing. I always tune to A 440 and if I want to drop tune, then I just use the chromatic display and my ear to tell me where I am. The display is bright and large enough to be seen from anywhere on stage which I find to be a good thing but some others may find this a bother.
The strobe setting is really just for flashy looks. A real strobe tuner shows you which octave your playing and how out of tune it is in relation to the other notes (tempered tuning). I'm not even sure how useful a real strobe tuner is. They do have that vintage/pretty look to them. I might use the Korg strobe when I need to adjust the intonation of my guitar but it gets a little annoying when I'm practicing.
The mute is footswitchable but I feel that hearing yourself while you tune trains the ear. So I never use that either. It's plugged into a power conditioner and patched into my effects loop through the back so I never touch this thing. Doesn't get any earsier than that.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Dosn't make sound and doesn't have a preamp. It doesn't create hum or any other unwanted noises but mine is plugged into a power conditioner. I have never tried it without one.

Reliability : 8
As others will tell you, It's mostly plastic. That's why it doesn't get a 10. It still scored high for me because it works and always has. Mine is rackmounted and patched through the back so I don't have to worry about the inputs breaking. When I gig, I disconnect the cables from the amp, stuff them in the rack, and leave the tuner plugged in (I have a deep rack). So if anything, I'm more worried about the jacks on my amp wearing out.

Customer Support : 8
Korg handles the distribution of Marshall products. I did have a Marshall head break on me and convinced a manager to pay for my shipping the second time it broke down. I did have to use a stern but not offensive voice to make this happen. Marshall isn't really all that great but that's a different review.

Overall Rating : 9
Doesn't matter what style of music you play, how long, other gear you own, etc, etc. Everyone has gotta tune. I just got tired of wasting batteries and looking down on a table or on top of my amp to tune my guitar with one of those pocket tuners. I got a rack tuner that goes with my other rack gear, has a huge display, and is always on when my gear is on. The convenience and professional appearance was worth the money.

Ease of Use : 10
VERY simple to use this....its a tuner... plug your guitar into the input, and plug a lead into the output and your good to go.
good thing about this, is that i run it in my chain (using the back inputs) and my bass player can just grab his lead and plug it into the front for a quick tune.

Sound Quality : 10
im using a

Sennheiser wireless > Korg DTR-1000 > Rocktron Hush Super C > Peavey 5150II .

did not notice one bit of signal interuption, even with power on or off.

Reliability : 10
I always have a boss TU-2 in my box that i take to shows, but its in my rack, have a sturdy rack case so i would gig without backup for sure.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Too early to tell

Overall Rating : 8
I play metal & hardcore and this tuner is perfect because i wanted to go rack as i was sick of pedals and batteries, the mute switch is on the actual player so no need for a footswitch.

It looks awesome, no need for floor clutter (i like to go hard) if it was stolen i would DEF get another one. just so much easier than a floor tuner.

Chose Korg over the Fender rack tuner because Korg is just a better brand, and i didnt like the fender F in the middle of the tuner.

Only reason for the 8 is that it cost me too much in Australia... its a rip of here but i had no choice.

Super easy to use. It's a tuner.
To put it in my rack, I did have to rip off the rubber pads on the bottom. It's a rack tuner, why did they put feet on it???

Sound Quality : 9
I use this primarily to keep my thunderbird bass in tune while on stage. I run it in the effects loop on my hartke head which pushes my swr 8x10. I've never had a problem w/ noise. I've never understood why, but the mute function still works in the effects loop. I guess it just means the loop isn't blended at all. I'm going to rate it high because it doesn't make any extra noise at high volumes.

Reliability : 9
I keep it racked up and never touch it. Everything is running through my power conditioner, so I don't even have to touch the power switch. I guess I do touh the mute button and that seems to work w/ out a problem. I will warn everybody that these are pretty cheap. Everything is plastic, so if you plug directly into the front be super carefull not to rip the jack out.

For how I use it though it's more reliable than my amp.

Customer Support : 4
I used to sell korg new and they aren't helpfull in any way. They will do warranty work, but it takes forever and you have to ship stuff off to asia. If there is no warranty anymore you'll just have to find a tech in your area. They don't get ultra low becasue they do honor the warranty.

Overall Rating : 9
Works great on stage or in the studio. My thunderbird is always going out of tune, and i don't like pedals to be on the floor to trip me up. This thing works great and looks cool. If it were cheaper I'd give it a 10.

NA I run through a tuner out into the tuner. my signal does not go through it

Reliability : 2
Crap. utter Crap. It still works but the componets on this are as cheap as they come and this thing cost over 150. all the input jacks are plastic. My guitarist plugged into the front to tune and left his cord plugged in. my drummer stepped on the cord and shattered the plastic jack. Korgs warranty didin't cover it so I installed a switchcraft jack in it myself. taking it apart to install the jack I found out just how cheap it is. all the circuit boards are oversized and look they were made by a highschool student in 1981. All plastic terminals on the boards are so cheap one broke when I unplugged it. (this shouldn't happen, I know you shouldn't be messin with the inside but thats because 95% of people are complete morons)I was able to fix that by hard wiring it to the board. the power on switch is a cheap spring loaded button switch not a real switch. I'm just waiting for that to break. and its right by the front input jack. your signal is less then an inch from an unsheilded AC switch. I'm sure that will create noise/hum issues for someone. I'm sure it wont ever stop working only because I will replace whatever cheap crap breaks with real components but I shouldn't have to do any of that. I don't know what I'd do If I couldn't fix it myself. I'm sure those cheap plastic jacks cost twice as much as a real jack because you cant find them because no one else in their right mind would use them. and a repair shop would make you replace them with NOS I give it a 2 because it still works. Its crap but it still works.

Customer Support : 2
you should take into consideration your product is made poorly and fix it for not holding up to the abuse every other product on the market takes on a daily basis.

Overall Rating : 1
overall its crap. I feel bad for whoever bought the 2000 line tuner. I'd be better off mounting a boss tu-8 in my rack with duct tape. I also wouldn't buy the sabine tuner either so do yourself a favor. save $150 buy a TU-8 and some duct tape and never worry about your tuning needs again

Rack gear doesn't get any easier than this....The manual was kind of useless, it had 2 different products in several different languages printed on the same paper. Get the magnifying glass out.....Ordered this from Musicians Friend. Has a strobe function, which makes your eyes go buggy, and a regular sweep style meter which I prefer. Can see this across the stage just fine too.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I'm not going to even rate this, because I don't even use it in the signal path! It can be used in the path like having your guitar plug into the tuner and then go to your preamp or whatever, and it may or may not affect the tone. But since I'm so anal about having anything between the guitar and my preamp, I use the headphone jack on the back of my preamp connected to the rear input of this tuner, and the headphone volume turned up just loud enough for the tuner to track it. Now I am 100% positive there is no signal degradation! Actually for a rack setup this is probably the best way to run it, provided your preamp has a headphone jack and doesn't cut the line signal when using the headphone jack!

Reliability : 9
Seems to be about as reliable as a tuner could be. Obviously it shouldn't get dropped or anything stupid like that! No glitches or anything like that either. Tracks notes pretty darn quick. No quartz tuner will ever keep up with this!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them....hopefully never will have to!

Overall Rating : 9
Play metal, blues, some classical whatever I feel like at home, and play out gigs with old school type metal. I have an asskicker rig: ADA MP-1 preamp, BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer, Rocktron Hush Super C, Rocktron Intellifex, this Korg tuner, Rocktron Velocity 300 power amp, 2 Marshall 1960 cabs, Jackson guitars with Floyds and EMGs, yada yada yada. I got this tuner because with all the great gear I have, it seemed pretty silly to continue to rely on a little handheld quartz tuner. Actually the need for this tuner came about with the addition of more guitars with various tunings. The little quartz job did alright as long as it was used for standard E tuning. One of my guitars is standard E, another is standard Eb, and the third is standard B (just like a 7 string except without the high E string and tuned so that all the scales have the same finger positions as a normal E tuning would have) Tuning the Eb axe was a pain on the handheld unless you would fret the first fret and read it as E. Ok, not the best way to do it, but checking intonation was impossible this way. Enter Korg DTR-1000 digital tuner. Now I can tune and check intonation however way I want (on-the-fly, I might add) with no hassles whatsoever because the tuner tracks the note whatever it may be! Flat, drop, standard, open, whatever you want as long as you know what note you need this will do it! I don't even use the "flat" functions, I just run it straight up. I have a "dead" patch on my Intellifex to cut the sound to the power amp and still tune off the preamp. Very sweet, indeed. Like I said about the speed this thing tracks notes, its quick, like, right now. Its a little bit slower on REALLY low notes, like the low B on the one guitar, but thats not the tuners fault. Those lower notes have a lot less frequency vibrations for the tuner to pick up and decipher. If you're serious, or have non-standard tunings, this tuner will definitely sweeten your rig. Its a bit pricey for newbies, but it makes up for it with its ease of use for whatever tuning you happen to fancy on this particular day! Feel free to email with questions about anything about my setups, etc.
