well this is my first midi unit and i thiught it would be harder to use it. it is very easy to use this unitts, editing pastches is very simple the manual does an exelent job, adjusting parameters its also very easy. you can run this unit without reading the manual.(i suggest to read it)

Sound Quality : 9
here i go: im using this unit in stereo with a monster power pro 2500-C.A.E preamp-voodoo lab gcx and GCP- and a VHT 2:50.
I bought this unit for delay and reverbs and really they are ecxelent effects!!, soon i realize that other effects like chorus, phaser where better than some effect pedals that i had, so really this is a good unit!. here comes a bad point. as im using this unit with a midi controller when i program that my preset 1 should call preset 15 of the lexicon and preset 2 should call preset 40 of the lexicon when you go from one preset to an other there is a drop out(your last note is cutted off) so what i do is to prevent have a lot of the lexicon patches in one bank and combine this with some pedals. for the money that i pay i cant complain.

Reliability : 8
I bought this unit 3 weeks and i dont have problems. lexicon products have a good reputation so i hope that it does not present problems in the future.

First and foremost, I bought this unit to run in the effects loop of my guitar amp, and I was mostly looking to use this for reverb and delay effects. With that said...

I was very surprised about how quickly I got this thing up and running. Editing patches is simple, and the manual does a fantastic job not only describing each parameter, but also giving a bit of background info on the different reverb and delay effects (as well as the others). I haven't bothered to use the computer patch editing software included with the unit, but from reading the manual, it seems fairly simple to utilize.

One small thing that threw me off was when choosing any of the routing options other than "stereo", your editing options for the effects became limited to literally 3 parameters. For example, when using "parallel" routing, your list of reverb parameters in most cases goes from:

-Pre Delay
-Mid RT
-Decay
-Diffusion
-Shape
-Spread
-Size
-RT High Cut
-Liveliness
-Bass Boost
-Bass Boost Frequency
-ER Time
-ER Level

To:

-Pre Delay
-Mid RT
-Liveliness

The reasoning behind this is that the Stereo routing option "uses all of the dsp horsepower in the unit". But while you can create any reverb you could ever want with this routing option, you CANNOT use more than one effect with it. Two effects can be used together when using any of the other routing options.

One other thing that I racked my brain trying to figure out is how to get seemless switching between patches because there is an annoyingly unnatural cut-off of the reverb/delay when going from one patch to another. I searched and searched for this option, but nothing. So I called Lexicon, and spoke with a tech. No such luck. So, forget switching from your "epic lead" patch back to you basic rhythm right away unless you want your ending note totally cut off. Sucks big time.

My solution? Get a midi controller with an expression pedal to control the amount of reverb and/or delay for one patch so no switching would be necessary. The problem with that is that the cc values for this unit are set and cannot be changed, so the Rockman MidiXchange controller that I'm using will NOT do this. It only controls cc7 and cc17, which is for sure the shape of the reverb (cc17) and the other being the overall volume (cc7), I think?

The unit sounds GREAT for reverbs and delays. One of the cool things I got this for was to use as a doubler in my stereo rig. Set the pre delay to between 10-25 milliseconds in your delay patch, wet level all the way up, and delays your entire signal to that amp (no initial note with delay on top of that) for that amount of time, creating that nice, thick doubling effect. I was looking forward to using the detune function to help with the doubling, but I haven't been sold on it yet. The detune on the TC GMajor was fantastic, but this one sounds way too chorus-y. I still have to fool around with it, though.

Overall, this thing SHINES in the reverb and delay settings...wayyyy better that the G Major, in my opinion. It's amazing how much a good reverb from this this thing can enhance your overall tone and make it sound so much more elegant.

Reliability : 9
Seems built fairly well. No knobs that could just fall off like the G Major. I feel totally confident that it'll last.

I called Lexicon about the seemless switching, and I was connected with an experienced, helpful tech within a minute who answered all of my questions. Seems like a very customer-friendly company...

For the price, it is an outstanding addition for any guitarist looking to just get a good reverb and stick with it for a song. There are 99 factory presets...a lot of which actually sound good, and 99 user presets, so if you need a tight, roomier sound 'verb for one song, you got it! If you need that nice, spacious big plate reverb for the next, you can recall that in a second. The lack of seemless switching is the biggest drawback with this unit. BUT, the sound of it alone is making me consider buying another one to use just for solos and just bypassing the one while switching to the other.

-Side note: There are 4 different bypass options, and one of them is that when bypass is initiated, your dry input will keep going and be unmuted while the effects ring out. Why they can't utilize that seemless switching between patches is beyond me...

If you have any questions, feel free to email me, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!

For those familiar with using digital rack effects this unit is very intuitive and easy to dial in. There is just enough options to give you quite a bit a of flexibility but not so many that it becomes cumbersome. The front panel layout is well designed and makes for easy on the fly adjustment of certain parameters. Of course with any unit of this type it is always best to give the manual a good once over before diving into using it. The manual is well written and easy to understand. Editing patches is easy and can be done by just a few clicks. The A/B/C knob design is very handy as well. It really only took me a few minutes to get used to the way this unit functions and now it is easy to adjust something within a few seconds without thinking too much about it.

Set-up: Guitar>Mesa Studio Pre>Rocktron Xpression>Lexicon MX300> Mesa 50/50 Power Amp

I am using this as a second effects unit for Delay and Reverb only in my guitar rig. I use a Rocktron Xpression (another great unit) for all effects that are not Delay and Verb. I wanted a unit that had more complex and detailed delay and verb than my Rocktron unit and after researching a lot of units and being willing to spend more I decided to give the MX300 a go because it seemed to offer a lot of what I wanted in a relatively economical package. Plus, Lexicon is known for excellent reverb algorithms so I knew I couldn't go wrong.

The reveb is everything I hoped it would be; complex, detailed, with a lot of options for adjustment. I probably will not get into all the abilities of the reverb but was able to easily dial in a great small hall sound right off the bat. The Delay is much crisper and clearer than the delay on my Rocktron unit and I am very pleased with how good it sounds. The ducker feature on the mono/stereo delay is very nice to not muddy faster lead lines. The tape delay is warmer for that more vintage sound though I like the crispness of the mono digital delay a bit better. On top of the great tones there are a few features which are nice such as the different routing options (easy to adjust), the BPM or ms display of delay times, and the front panel A/B/C adjustment ability of three effect parameters.

As for the other effects such as compression, chorus, flange, etc. I am not using this unit for those purposes so I don't know if I really want to comment since I havn't really played around with them much.

Reliability : No Opinion
Time will tell but seems well built. Knobs are solid and turn evenly.

Have not needed to deal with them.

The other processor I've owned in this price range is the TC G-Major, the Rocktron Xpression, and a Line-6 DL-4 Rack delay. The MX300 for Delay and Verb beats all three with the G-Major being the weakest. The MX300 effects have a very clear, complex, and crisp sound quality. Lexicon put the most effort in the reverb algorithms but the delays sound great as well and has a lot of features that are useful. I am well pleased with this unit. For the price I think this unit is great for any guitarist looking for something in their rig.

Very easy to use...Read the manual front to back once @ least..There are some specific options for routing, knob assignments etc that are not exactly intuitive.Very powerful dual processor means you can really place fx exactly where you want them..Great manual.Just relased,no upgrades.Flawless integration as AU plugin for Logic Pro.

I bought this for the rhythmic panning delays for my guitar rig..The tempos for these are crucial and this unit w/ all the insane routing options is right on.There is no noise out of my unit UNTIL I turned on my TV-that did it:beware of noise in your system-Again this thing is quiet

Reliability : 10
I've had this unit a few days-passed on a TC Electronic delay b/c the knobs always fell off of my 'GMajor'..The MX 300 seems very well built and with proper care of my rack I have total confidence-No backup
