When it worked it was a dream to use. Easy to understand. Very user friendly.

Considering the price and application the sound is good. Far superior to a sound card. Plus equipped with phantom power.

Total piece of crap. For the same money you can buy an M-box or PCI interface...go that way. Please don't waste your money on this product.
I won't go into detail as my complaints are the same as the other unsatisfied user posts. Some people seemed to have gotten lucky and got a unit that worked. Good for them, if you feel lucky buy one... I'm swotching to an m-box

Operating concept is easy to understand. No need for software mixers for recording. Connects to many possible sources, even very high output condenser microphones. Good headphone amp.
It did not and still doesn't work properly with the Cubase software it was supplied with! At least not on my computer. Works well, however with my version of Samplitude. The Pantheon reverb does only work with Cubase though! The German manual describes software that does no longer come with the unit. The English manual is better, but far from being good. If you solve the software issues (or don't have them because you use the right computer) ease of use would be 8-9. So it is only 6

Good sound with all my microphones. Dynamics, condensers everything from really cheap to high end.
Same for line inputs, keyboards, guitar amps etc. No problem.
Very low noise.
To get a better sound you would need: high end mics, expensive outboard preamps and a studio room without reflections. All the things you most likely do not have if you consider buying this unit.

No problems (aside of the software issues) so far. It is not built like a tank and for field use I would consider other solutions. Mainly because of its plastic case and a wall socket psu (hate them!). But lets look at the price tag and stop complaining.

Never dealt with them. FAQs on the website are ok, though they didn't help with my problems.

Let's be fair.
4 channels simultaneously with a very good sound quality for 165 Euros is great. Once it is installed successfully operating is easy. A "better" system would only make sense if all your other euqipment is on a real high level.
Cons: Installation problems, bad manuals and a reverb plug in that only works with Cubase
Depending on your application and your preferences this can be anything between a 2 and an 8. For me a 7 and a valuable tool.

It's very easy to get set up. Just hook 'er up and let the computer do the rest. The instructions are just okay. I think I got an older model because the packaged software was different from what the manual said.

I had this set up with a Behringer V-Amp 2 hooked up directly, with two BC Rich Biches (Platinum Series with Seymour Duncan pickups and Special Edition Archtop with Dragonfire pickups). I noticed that my guitars sounded thin and crackly, which I thought may have been my V-Amp. I was concerned, because I hadn't had that problem before. That's when it dawned on me: it was the Lexicon. I tried everything to get my sound back, but I felt it wasn't worth it.
Basically, if you had a good tone, the Omega will suck it dry leaving you with thin and brittle.

It functioned really well and seemed pretty sturdy.
But a sturdy turd is still a turd.

If my Omega was lost or stolen, I'd be pissed because of the money I spent to get it. As it is, I'm getting rid of the thing. I got it so I could have a more "live" recording with everyone in my band present, but if the sound is going to be that lousy, I'd just as soon record everyone one at a time.
Is there anything I wish it had? I wish it was a decent machine!
When I was shopping for it, I initially had my eye on a Behringer Xenyx 16-channel mixer, but it was out of my price range at that time. Should've gone with my first instinct, eh?
At any rate, avoid this machine like the plague.

The drivers can be a bit temperamental on installation. Apparently theres huge Windows XP issues with this device although I never experienced more than the very occasional crash. Its simple enough tho, once its up and running. Everything is set out easily.

Everything you could want from a USB interface. Recorded most of an album with this (after recording the drums in a studio) without any issues.

This is where it fails. Well...Failed...
One day I turned it on, loaded the software. Error message...
Never worked again. Tried it on several computers so it wasnt my system or driver issues.
Ill explain more in the next catagory...

Awful.
Its like banging your head against a brick wall. When you do finally get a contact off someone they dont actually know what theyre talking about. Or say they'll get back to you and dont...
I actually managed to get the point where they asked me if I would like a Returns number so the item could be repaired free of charge...of course I said yes...never got the returns number, after several mails and calls.
So in the end i took it back to the store I purchased it from and got my money back after explaining the situation. They seemed sympathetic...as if they'd heard it all before.

Well until the day it died. I couldnt of been happier with it.
But due to the customer service being possibly the worst ive encountered/heard of it flaws the Omega.
It would have a 10 if they had sorted it for me.
Instead it had a 5. And a customer who will never purchase another Lexicon product.
Oh, and I replaced the Omega with an Mbox eventually. Which is as good but with excellent support. Pay the extra and save yourself some hassle.

As with any computer connected device there's the inevitable pain-in-the-neck of getting the drivers properly installed. Once that's accomplished the operation is pretty much a no-brainer. Having a USB uadio interface with input level knobs on the front has eliminated the need for a mixer on my desktop. The unit has all the features I need like switchable inputs, switchable meter, peak LEDs, an instrument level input in the front, Monitor mix knob which fades between the computer output and the raw input signal. The vetical design is also a welcome space saver.

The Omega is as quiet or quiter than any source I've used to record. I have used but the internal mic preamps and external mic pre's into the line inputs with great results. Even when the peak LEDs flicker a bit their is no noticable distortion.

I wish I could give this product a stellar reliablity rating but one day in mid-session the USB connection mysteriously disappeared which led to weeks of trouble shooting and drivers that refused to reinstall. One can theorize that that was the fault of my computer/system especially since I'm on a PC, but the fact is that The Lexicon Omega or it's drivers was the only thing that failed; Cubase, Wavelab and all the other audio and non-audio software performed fine during this period. This type of failure was so serious that it cannot escape at least the likelyhood of responsiblity.

In regards to the above failure Lexicon's customer support completely dropped the ball; that is if they ever picked up the ball in the first place. Differentiating their pro audio website from their new consumer division was one of many hurdles before a support request form was found. I'm sure that I could have sifted through the manual to find the proper URL but this is the age of the Internet, they have to expect that many people are going to type in "Lexicon" and go before digging through a manual for a URL. How hard is it to include a link to their pro audio division from their main website?
Once I had taken the time to write a detailed account of the failure I waited and waited for a reply that never came. It has been over a month.
I cannot stress enough how frustrating it is to take the time to engage Lexicon support and the down time while I waited for a reply only to be simply ignored. I refuse to except this current culture of "We have your money, now you're on your own" or "Let the forums solve your problem," from Lexicon or any other Music or pro audio manufacturer.

This is a good product. However, the failure I experience may return. Since I was left to my own trial and error methods of solving my problem I have no idea how to prevent it from happening again, even if I now know how to recover.
This failure and nonexsitant customer support has tained my experience with the Lexicon Omega and I will be unlikely to purchase anything else from them.
