Pretty easy if you read the Manual RTFM!!! You should be able to tweak, however the presets are absoulty beautiful!! Editing is eay, manual well laid out, should not be a issue, but read the Manual!!

Sound Quality : 10
The sounds are Lexicon, they just dont get any better! I have tried T C's among other high end verbs and effects, I even purchased the Lexicon MPX-1, not a bad unit however, they dont even come close to the PCM or the PCM80!! I use this in my guitar rig, ie amp out to mixer and I use stereo channels!! The sound is beautiful Lush, Huge Thick, its almost like having a instrument another then a effect! Yes they are that Great!! It doesnt mess with your tone only adds to it, no coloration at all!!

Reliability : 10
I have had mine for a couple of months! I gig with her I sleep with her!! She is that great, and as I stated I tried lower end models thinking Hmm maybe I can save a buck no gang it doesnt work, If you care about your sound the Lexicom Pcm 80 and or PCM series is a must have!

Customer Support : 10
10++ Same day return e mail when asking about any of there products, they are a quailty company gang not only does it sound great, Im proud to have the Lexicon name in my Rig!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
Over all Im going to say 20+ I know sounds dumb but hey I have tried them all, even thought Mabye the Lexcion mpx-1 would work? Nope dont get me wrong the MPX1 Rocks however,it only has one half of the processor power as the PCM series!!Yes I would buy, I just did again ;-) Well Had the MPX-1 thinking I could cut corners. Nope did'nt work I picked up another PCM80 and let me tell ya I couldnt be happier and for money Ebay 600.00 I got one heck of a deal!!! I will never let this one go, why are all the pros using this in there guitar rig, well because they are the best on the markets and will continue to be the best!!! I run two effects The Lexicon PCM 80 and The Eventide H3000!! Thats it, floor model podxt live but I only use some cab'in eq, and some presets I made for certain songs and use as midi controller for the lexicon and eventide!!
In conclusion and sorry to keep ramebling on,if you have a chance try one out, I know you will be addicted once you get to hear her, look on ebay, you always can get them there, and sometimes pretty cheaply however, anything under 750.00 is a steal.

Good Luck

"Have you hugged your Lexi today"

I really don't get Lexicons method of editing or arranging presets I find that I get lost and I also find it hard to compaire presets. I think this box does a lot very well but it does too much.

Sound Quality : 9
the stock sounds are very good but there are a lot of unusable presets

good unit one of my favs but I still think that if it did less then I would get more work done. I'd be able to focus on making music instead of tinkering with a box

If you can read you can use it as every parameter
is written on the LCD and that's it .

Sound Quality : 10
I use 2 of them in a recording studio
both are with the latest Operating sys.
we have many different effects and the PCM-80 is really a great
lexicon product.
No noise and amazing quality.
I did get a Lexicon 480L sounds out of it more than once
but you've got to know reverb etc to program it the right way.
the patches are awsome and cover everything you ever need and more.
we are using all their cards.

Reliability : No Opinion

Customer Support : 10
they are OK.

Overall Rating : 10
It is one of the lexicon "Classics" reverb
I compared it with the 200 224XL 480L and I loved
the fact it is so powerful and diverse.
I also like the Old PCM-60 for simplicity but hated
and sold my old PCM-70 and never regreted it.
If you find this bugger -Buy it if you are serious about
your recording quality or your "sound".

The user interface for editing patches is done well, considering its a 1u rackmount with a 2 line, non-graphic display. Considering the complexity of the unit, it is not the easiest unit to program down to the finest detail. However, lexicon provided many shortcuts for selecting patches and adjusting the most frequently used parameters-this is done very well. If you want to edit the algorithms, you work with a virual parameter matrix that is essentially the same across all algorithms (and even program selections) so it makes it easy to remember how to use the unit.
It's easy to customize a sound to your liking -- the pcm80 has a fairly detailed reverb module that is always present and can be combined with other modulation effects (resonator, pitch shift, delay). The reverb and modulation modules can be used in serial, parallel, stereo and mono configurations -- you can even change the order of effects processing in real time using an internal lfo (why you would want to do this, i dont know)
This is a true stereo effects processor - 18bit, analog and digital i/o. Apparently it will accept an AES/EBU signal on input, but it only generates sp/dif output. Internal processing is unknown--it using the standard 56001 for modulation and the lexchipII for reverb. Takes up to 4meg x 18 ram memory (for delay times up to 43 or so seconds).
The unit comes with v1.1 software internally, but the onboard algorighms and processing can be augemented by external pcmcia cards. In fact, lexicon has at least 4 cards (2 patch 2 algorithm) available right now and can be ordered immediately from the factory -- better support than some synth manufactures. the unit can also take external ram cards to store upwards of 2000 patches per card-but the onboard storage is certainly adequate.
The manual goes into great depth about the capabilites of the instrument, but it may help to know some 'reverb and delay' theory to get the most out of the instrument. Each of the algorithm cards also come with a detailed manual. A plastic quick reference card is provided that is handy when learning the instrument.

The sound is excellent -- lush reverbs, obvious 'lexicon sound' -- If you just need a good sounding reverb, there are definely cheaper solutions that come close, even products made by lexicon themselves
The delays are quite good and can be always mixed with the reverb, you can always position the sound and effect anywhere in the audio field and can move the sound throughout a surround sound field with an external decoder. The delays respond to tap tempo.
This is not a typical multieffects unit - yes it does do multieffects but it may take some programming to get a flange for example -- the 'shell' divides the input into 4 or six voice processing paths, each path can be delayed, filtered, chorused, etc and mixed back into a stereo bus. a stereo input reverb is always available. Overall the sound is great and the real time control exhibits no glitching that I can detect.
It's hard to tell if lexicon sees this unit as a performance device or a studio effects processor. the real time effect modulation is the most extensive I have seen, with setups that would work very well in live performance. On the other hand, this is not a typical multieffects box--it seems to be designed to create effects, rather than augument the performance of a keyboardist or guitarist. You would have to spend some quality time with this unit to get the most out of it, but it provides great potential for creating your 'own' sound.
Most effects are done well, the presets of the stock unit provide alot of good function. The cards offer more specific effects (i.e. postproduction).

Reliability : No Opinion
Havent had a problem with it -- build quailty is excellent.

Customer Support : 10
Very helpful, most people at lexicon seem to bend over backwards to answer questions or provide parts. They sent me a free 1.1 upgrade with the mixer card -- a couple of roms that were easy to replace.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Would buy it again. I found that it fits my needs for sound processing and occasional live performance better than other effects processors I have checked. An intelligent pitch shift card should be available earily next year which is the one thing I wished that it would have. In fact, with the additional cards, lexicon addressed most of the weaknesses that I originally found with the unit (i.e. configurable effects chain, heavy duty pitch shift, etc). When used in live performance, it responds like a musical instrument, not an effects device (this is due to its incredible real-time midi/modulation capabilities). It does not have compressors, limiters and a few other things (but some of these can be programmed). If I were just looking for a reverb unit, or a device that could do many things at the same time, I would have chosen a different unit. This device does a few things very well, and I find it more useful.
