it is hell to install, it takes time to find out how it all works, if you can buy it (like me) for less than 200 euro buy it! because it is a double pc 90 lexicon reverb!!!!

I spent a whole week installing this card. The instruction and manual are the worst that I've ever seen. Then it turned out that I've been inatalling the old driver! After I installed the new one, everything is OK. So if the old driver doesn't work, why putting it on the website for download???

Honestly, the reason I bought this thing is only because of the built in effects. It's got two PCM90 grade effects and I am not even using it's ADDA, I'm using the SPDIF in/ out only so I get a clean feed from my RME soundcard. As for the sound, well it beats my UAD dreamverb or any soft effects. Warm and lush, pure lexicon reverb.

$300 for two PCM90, that's not a bad deal if you have a spare PC/ Mac, and mind you it only runs on Win'98 or Me. I use it on my third PC together with an OASYS board. both synced via ADAt from my main computer running a RME HD9624 soundcard. My second PC is reserved for Gigasampler and Halion.

I will never purchase a Lexicon product period!! Reverb, recorders, converters if sold. Nothing!!!! They do not support there product. I called two years ago and demanded to speak to the chairmen. When I asked him about supporting it, he stated that they wouldn't and that it was a R&D decision. Well, I made a N&M ( No more) decision about Lexicon.

This unit is a bit tricky to configure, specially on the windows platform, as it has been said. And not very easy to configure on the mac platform neither ! Even the internal configuration of Cubase is quite confusing. On Cubase V.5, of course, as Lexicon will not write a MAC OSX driver and cubase SX ONLY works on OSX ! No choice. Another VERY IMPORTANT question is that the PC90 reverb daughterboard DON'T work on Logic mac, although it does on Logic PC. That's the kind of things that make you a bit angry against Lexicon, as i've bought my G4 just to discover by myself that my favorite reverb will not work with my favorite program on my brand new and expensive computer ! If you have such a weakness you should tell your customers about it !

This is the best part of the Core 32. Very clean and clear sound quallity. The PC90 reverb, although not being exactly a PC91, still a Lexicon reverb, very warm and with a natural tail.
But it's also true that this is not a very current unit and it has to be considered that nowadays you can buy a 24 bits / 96 Khz unit that have very probably a superior sound and less incompatibilities.

Once you find a configuration that works, it works flawlessly, that have to be said. But I wouldn't push it to much, though, and not take it on tour ! (unless for decoration ;-))

I judge them to be very correct with me, although not particularly friendly ... just professionaly correct. This is more than I ask !
But the fact that they abandon their customer just saying that they will not write any more drivers for a product that was costing about 3000.00 Us dollars is not a very good sign. It don't look to me that they have a lot of consideration for their customers. And between you and me, if the PC90 don't work on LOgic Mac, they should say it loud and clear, and you won't find any comment about it on their web site ... I'm a Lexicon customer that have spent thousands just to have a system that don't work the way it should because of the misinformation of Lexicon !

My overall rating: 5, just because it could be a better system, with just a little bit of marketing interest.

The lack of Windows 2000 and XP drivers is a sad state of affairs, I am left to never go near a Lexicon product, no matter the quality of the device and it's componets, it relies on an OS that is rooted in DOS and has no real multitasking capabilities. Give me a 2K driver and I'd change my mind. Thank God for the Fostex hard drive recorder.

It's easy to use under Windows 98. I have my machine dual boot 98, and Win 2k Pro. I really don't like to switch from one OS to another to do different tasks. My other audio software is noticeably more stable on NT than on 98 (I'm excluding the system crashes on 98).

This is a very quiet card. I haven't sold it yet because it is still very high quality, and has many features for the price I paid. If I sold it, then I'd probably buy a MOTU. The PC-90 is a very good reverb. I could have paid $599.00 for a decent reverb alone.

I wouldn't use it live unless I had a backup. I would be less hesitant to do this if it was running under NT.

Customer support is doing the best they can. Most of the info has been removed from the lexicon website. However, they are still selling the old drivers.

BAD. No Windows 2000 or XP drivers ever. A year after I bought it I can't even use it. It would be nice to be able to use it on the newest, most reliable operating systems. Too bad, I'll never trust a Lexicon product again. Not even updated drivers for over a year.

Overall, its good if your never going to upgrade your OS. It does a good job for recording and is easy to set up. Too bad the people at Lexicon are too lazy to support their products and provide for the people who bought it.

Installed easily enough, and functioned OK until really, really stressed in Cakewalk Pro Audio 9.0. A couple of tips from the Lexicon folks: turn off all desktop video acceleration; disable WavePipe acceleration in Cakewalk. I don't find either of these tweaks acceptable myself. Don't expect this unit to play nicely with other audio gear on your system either, it won't.

I've found this unit to be pretty dang flaky, and would definitely not use it in a production studio. Let's just say I've learned my way around the Lexicon web site pretty well.

This is what prompted me to submit a review. Lexicon does not support this product in any way at present. A terse email from their support staff assured me that there will never be Windows 2000 or Windows XP drivers for this unit. I wouldn't anticipate any application updates either.... That means no low latency WDM stuff in SONAR, and no dream multi-processor digital audio system.

The price was nice.... but if I'd known that it didn't work on Win2k or XP, and that I had to make a bunch of system tweaks to make it run, and that it won't even cooperate with another Core2 system and is not scalable, I would not have purchased it. I don't like the feeling of being an abandoned consumer in regards to support and software upgrades either. I'll soon be replacing this with MOTU hardware. I really wanted to let new buyers know about these issues!

It's fairly easy to use. I didn't really have the irq problems that others seem to be experiencing during the setup. It's very easy to get good sound out of the unit. The manual could definately be a little more detailed.

I'm using Cubase VST 32 with this. It is a very quiet board. Lexicon is know for using quality components. This is the main reason I haven't sold the card yet. The PC90 is the best-sounding reverb I've ever used. It has a very warm, clean sound.

The unit is very reliable. It increases the reliability of DOS by taking on all of the effects processing. I've only had it crash 98 a few times. I really wouldn't want to depend on it in a mission critical situation (like a live gig) though. However, I wouldn't be concerned about it's reliability if It was running on NT.

One of the main resons I purchased this product is that I hate making 2nd-rate recordings. All of the ADAT systems I was looking into (at the time) were much more expensive. If this unit was lost or stolen, I might consider buying another one. I love the recordings I've made with this unit. I hate that fact that there are no NT/2000 device drivers for it. Maybe Lexicon can pay an intern to write NT/2000 drivers with the $14.95 they are now charging for their 3-year old drivers.

Having used this for nearly 2 years on a Mac I am pretty happy with it.
Generally the software behaves itself...although sometimes its hard to get it to see external spdif sync....and when it does crash (the control panel)...I have to disconnect it from the interface box !
Took me about a month to work that one out ;-) (BIG TIP #1)

As mentioned in the other review...pretty good.
Reverbs are based on a PC90 (not a 91.. sorry Cody) and the main difference is that the PCM 90 uses both engines to produce its sound s it also has Plate reverbs which the PC 90 doesn't.
But again, the benefits of this reverb far outweigh the disadvantages!

Hardly ever crashes... and (as above) I've worked out what to do when it does. ie same crash all the time.
Currently doesn't work with a G4 (but I have it on very good authority that new drivers are in beta...don't know about windows)

I've contacted Lexicon customer service numerous times.. and have always had a prompt courteous reply.
If the new drivers do actually eventuate, I be really happy !!
Several things are not supported on the current mac version..ie LDI 10t
8 channel expander and the time code.Lets hope they get fixed soon.

Running a mastering business, it has been a good a/d investment and after it has served that purpose its also useful in a VSt or PTLe enviroment. Save those cpu cycles !
