Very easy to use without reading any manual its quite obious what all switches are for

Sound Quality : No Opinion
im using this with line 6 flextone 2

Reliability : No Opinion
i have had unit 6 years i think and i have had to open it up on three occasions to service it as switches have stopped working

But now i have serious issues with the board as it has let me down consecutivly on 2 gigs it has after an hour or so of being hooked up to my amp it has gone back to factory defaults wiping all memory

after glancing at the manual/provided instructions there is nothing to it. it won't be more than 5 minutes and you will have figured out everything about this longboard - which is a good thing

Sound Quality : 10

this is not an effect itself, but due to the fact that there is NO CHANGE in audio quality when using this floorboard i can see no other rating than pristine. lower numbers would mean some kind of alteration to the signal, but you would not know this thing is plugged in unless you see it.

good job line6

Reliability : 8

seems very rugged like a tank. another reviewer nailed it when he said the wah/volume is not as sturdy as the rest of the board, if it were we could drop these things out of a transport plane instead of bombs - that would be funny,.....right? i could see those iranians running from the longboard from line6!

Customer Support : No Opinion

i dont know myself - but i did hear in a HC forum post where line6 basically told someone that since they no longer sell a certain product (one of the bass/rack pods) that he would not get any support from them, and basically he should buy the new one.

i sure hope they dont phase out the 2.0 and treat those owners the same. i would have to throw the floorboard at them

Overall Rating : 8

great value, i got used to having it the 1st day and would hate to be without it. id rather keep playing and change patches with my feet like a simple pedal - but its not simple you get alot of control

Considering the help pod and flextone amps provide to the average player the floorboard is a must tool that unlocks even more features for the player giving more control of the amp. All the controlls are pretty self explanatory with the well designed layout and it let's you control some of the features of tone and effect shaping that before where left to the midi interface. If you own any line 6 product that is compattible with this pedalboard i suggest you get it.

Sound Quality : 8
I admit that i wasn't much sure about it at first, i had seen people use this or the channel switcher with the POD and ihad used a midi pedalboard with a Behringer V-amp and unless the switching occured between different setting of the same amp model there was a gap that at high concert volumes became quite obnoxious. But when plugged in the Flextone amp i use and even a spider i tried once the gap never occured. It's actually a great help to players that like me love to use many effects and switch often between a dry distorted sound to a heavily processed clean sound. Before, since few of us can have a Bradshaw style patch system, it was either cut down on the effects live or find several concoctions often involving a/b switches that when it came to distortion brought out more feedback than anything else. Of course you don't have the controll of each effect like if it was a stompbox and definitely you don't get to obtain the sound of your favorite type of delay or chorus or whatever, but considering the advantages it gives those are minimal problems that live really don't matter. Besides the bank and fx switches it also provides separate wah and volume pedals, which to me are the only disapointment, construction wise i talk later but soundwise let's begin with the wah. The sound is modelled after a Vox wah, which to me was a rather bad choice since a crybaby would provide a more universal sound and the switch was way to easy to press causing it to become really messy. As for the volume it seemed to have a huge gap when reaching the middle position that went from quite loud to almost silent when on high volume. But that's a small problem to me considering that my pedalboard went from 20 pedals to 4 thanks to this little wonder and my life on the stage became a whole lot easier without any huge sacrifice.

Reliability : 7
Let's start with the bad news first, alright? As i mentioned before i was disapointed by the wah and the volume pedal. Construction wise i think they are a bit too frail and definitely don't made for heavy stompers (like yours trully) and they send your command to the processor thanks to a transparent plastic tape the 9 time out 10 needs to be set up which to me is quite bad. Besides the expression pedal zone which to me is as good as dead the rest of the pedalboard is quite sturdy and tank like. Not many bells and whistles that could be subject of damage. After two years of heavy using the paint for the writing hasn't worn out which is definitely a plus. The weird connection cable could seem a bit frail and since it's seen only on this product it could seem also like an expensive replacement part, well... it's not. It's just an ethernet cable you could buy at any computer store and have it set up like the original one, i broke mine once and i spent less replacing it than when i replaced the midi cable form my V-amp pedalboard. If it wasn't for that pesky expression pedal part i would give this a 10

Customer Support : No Opinion
never tried

Overall Rating : 8
I pretty much said everything, i definitely reccomend it to any line 6 amp user that uses more than 4 presets and needs a certain control over them during playing. If you don't have these requirements i really wonder why the hell you bought that amp in the first place.

I honestly feel the line 6 floorboard is very easy to use, the individual mode is great, it has never been upgraded.

Sound Quality : 9
In the individual mode I can get boost, etc; It made the pod 2.0 twice as much fun to use. I can get delay in individual for example even though it wasn't originally programed in. The tap tempo is great, tap tempo even with tremelo. Some other company put on the market a tap tempo tremelo boasting of that function, the pod with the floorboard has been doing it for a long time.It makes the pod use hands free. I think the wah is a very, very good wah. I'm satisfied with the wah. I don't like loosing gain when backing off the volume pedal, it shouldn't do that.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems reliable and dependable, they are used without backups by many guitarist,

Ease of Use : 6
Straight forward. I use with POD 2.0. It's glitched a few times and I've had to unplug and replug the cable, turn off the POD and 'restart'. The main difficulty with its 'ease' of use are it's 'reliability' issues (see below). We play indoor club, bar, concert gigs and the display is easy enough to read in dim or dark or even neutral light. We also play a great many day light, outdoor gigs, and the display is often impossible to read in these conditions. I've had to rig 'hoods' to shade the display to render it readable.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Not applicable.

Reliability : 4
For all of its rugged looks and straight forward design, the Floorboard is entirely too flimsy. Fittings are constantly loosening and I routinely have to dismantle the casing to tighten the footswitches. The volume and wah pedals are not worth much in terms of subtle shifts in expression...the volume pedal shifts from almost too quiet, right to solo volume. The pedals are also flimsy, especially compared to the sort of bomber volume and wah pedals most working players use. On the slight 'plus' side, I've been able to take it apart and fix it when necessary...the problem being that it's been necessary far too often.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Line 6 folks are nice, friendly, etc. They just can't do much to transform a flimsy product into one that is well-made and solid....

Overall Rating : 5
I've been playing 20+ years. I've been using the POD 2.0 & Floorboard a couple of years now. I'm shifting away from using it live and going to a different array of FX
and a more dependable & expressive pedal set up.

OK, you know the basics, it just controls the amp, and unlocks a few features that aren't controllable on the amps face. It hooks into the amp via an RJ45 CAT5 10base T cable that is provided. It's powered by the amp through that cable, so no wall wart is required.
It's fairly easy editting patches, but I had to try a few times to get the right patch saved in the right spot, I just use the amp buttons to tell it where to save the patch.
The manual was a two sided card with very simple instructions and pictures. Not hard.

This pedal has two modes to operate it, channel select, and effects on/off. You can use it like stomps in effects on/off mode, and with the click of one switch get back to channel select. I like it. Alot of folks complain that the button are too close together, well I wear a size 13, and I do just fine. Personally I wish the unit were a little smaller so I could buy a generic bag for it from RokSak instead of paying the extra $30 to buy the Line 6 bag.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Carvin Bolt S-S-H and use the pedal with a Flextone II Plus. This thing doesn't make any sounds on it's own, but I do love the Drive/Boost, and the Distortion stomps. You can get a 4dB boost for solos, and the distortion stomp is like kicking on a Tube Screamer in front of your amp. It's not a gritty distortion, the only way I can describe it is that is smooths out your lead sounds. Very nice.

A lot of people have complained about the tuner, and I really can't find anything that wrong with it. It functions. It's not the best mind you, but at least they included it in the amp package.

Reliability : 10
I've had it for a month, and have had no problems. It's all metal, so I have no concerns there. The switches may be problematic. I could see having to take it apart and stretch the springs out after a period of time. Hopefully it'll hold up. Right now, I would use without a backup.

Customer Support : 9
Pretty good, I've e-mailed them a few times about what products to buy in order to use the MIDI capabilities to backup my patches and settings and they responded in a timely manner.

Overall Rating : 8
I play in a church that does some very contemporary music and my Line 6 setup is a very good match. I've been playing for about 12 years, and have played through a Boss GT-3, some crappy Zoom products, and I owned a Peavey Bandit 112, and a Fender Deluxe 112. This setup puts it all to shame, but for a few of the effects on the GT-3 that I miss a little, but not enough to make me change anything.

If it were lost or stolen, I would be upset, and might go with the Flextone III and the shortboard if it were affordabale. But wouldn't hesitate to buy another floorboard and Flex II.

I love the ease of setup and tear down. My favorite feature is the either the effect on/off mode, or the distortion stomp.

I compared it to the MIDI footcontroller to try and save some money, but in the end, I just got the Line 6 because I felt like I would be losing some features with a MIDI board that I don't have experience programming, and it was just easier to get the Line 6 board.

I think it's got everything you need to make music.

It's a good product all around, it's been discontinued for the next generation of Line 6 footcontrollers, but it serves it's purpose well. There is one thing I wish it did that the new ones do, and that is have an LCD screen to name your patches.

Good construction, all aluminum chassis. I would give it a 10, but one time I had to unscrew the feet and tighten the screws for the switches inside the unit, but that was no big deal. I've done some gigs w/ it and never had a problem. Just make sure you have a spare RJ-45 cable.

I play in a progressive metal/rock band, I use the Flextone 2 HD(Behringer Ultrafex Pro, and A.R.T. TPS through the effects loop.)
I've got a very nice sound coming through my 4x12 Sunn cab. The nice thing is you have such a wide variety of sounds, amp models(I use a ton of em) and effects(hell, I only use a couple, who needs to drown out that sweet tone w/ too much effects?) the floorboard puts everything at your feet. Nice product, except for the price.(gave it a 7 because of that. This unit should be at most 100 bucks. At first I was a little wary of getting into the whole solid state thing, but Line 6 does it the absolute best. Throw in a tube preamp and it wails! I've been playing guitar for 8 years now, first amp setup I've owned, I like it alot. I think someday I'll give in and get a Marshall or a Soldano, but for now, it does nicely.

As you porb know, thers no sounds just a controler for some line6 products. At first the effect on/off switch really impressed me. It is cool, BUT.. (here we go) like someone elce said "why have the eq switch" your never going to use it live, a compresser switch would be so much better. The second main reason for writing this though is the problem that its not that obvious what setting your on ina gig situation. Theres one small led that tells you that your on channel select or effect on/off setting. This has caused a few imbarising moments live, when suddenly you want big cock rock solo sound and you get a tremolo added to your rhythm sound insted!

Sound Quality : No Opinion
no sounds as i said before, but the use of a wha and volume is great.

Reliability : 4
Heres the main reason for writing. I've got a pod2 and a flextoneII (one for studio and the other for gigs) Great idea i can just transfer my sounds from one to the other.
BUT..
All the screws come loose inside, and the switched are pretty flimsy inside when you look at them.
I gig about 3/4 times a weeks and its pretty imbarrising to have to keep turning my amp off to reset the floorboard because its crashed. After speaking to line6 (nice helpfull bunch) they siad bring it in and they'd sort it, but a year and a week oud, i would have to pay. SO, i opened it up and decided to look myself. All the screws had come loose and made the pcb board move away from the switched. One screw had come off completly. I tightend them up and hey presto good as new.

Nice guys

Overall Rating : 7
Still, after all said and done, its great. Its mine and i wouldnt swap it for anything elce in this price range. Its a good deal, no fuss 1 lead, no more stomp boxes; for now (except my boss TU-2 tuner cos the line 6 one is crap.) I gig alot, and the less messing and leads to fall over, the better, more concentration on jumping about and playing. (sorry about my spelling!)

Ok, so there's no SOUNDS per se in this thing, so I'm not reviewing that. It does provide access to the volume pedal and wah functions that are already in the pod, so I WILL review them. No manual, no upgradabe firmware. So, as others have mentioned--there's a fain't delay when changing stuff here (I'm running with a 1.4 pod, that might make a difference). And I'm not sure that that delay doesn't carry over to the wah, too. i'm not sure, but I find the wah really hard to use for a typical funky kind of thing. it's great for a flanger/whooshy kind of thing--exactly what I've been looking for. But really hard to use (and get just right) for rockin' back and forth typical wah stuff. It does get supa-fly points for having a on/off led for the wah (i hate using a cry-baby on a bad monitor day--there's no telling if you've got it off or not). The volume pedal is great. The tuner sucks (as we all know). It's pretty basic, nothin' too fancy. One big problem I have with it: you can't turn your compression on or off. Because I need wide variety of sounds available at a time, I would really like to have this feature availble, to switch from sparkly clean to compressed jazz, for example (come on, just turn it on and off with the modulation switch, how hard would that be). And there's a switch to turn the bright on and off? Come on! Who says, "oh crap! This is where I want my not-so-bright patch!" Make compression considered a modulation effect and let me have TWO modulation effects at once. That'd be WAY more useful. And my last complaint: why the crap do I have to switch between modes? One mode lets me turn my fx on and off, another mode makes the same buttons switch between patches. There is enough room inside this thing for a whole other cicuit board and array of swithes, plus a million other features (i'll get into this later). Why not? Ok, last thing: the network cable thing is a good idea--no wall wort, thank goodness. This thing gets a 7, because it does what it does pretty well, but has plenty of room for improvement.

Sound Quality : 8
Again, the wah is good for flangy/wooshy stuff, but not so hot for wicky-wicky-whack stuff. The lead boost is really useful, as is the volume pedal, and being able to turn the delay and chorus off. I don't ever turn my reverb or eq (that's the worthless bright switch, might be good for finding a good sound, but is completely worthless live, imho) off, and the distortion boost is subtle enough that I don't often use it (if I'm going clean I'm going to a different patch altogether, you know--that's the beauty of the POD). One big problem: I've tried using the tuner as a mute switch, and once as I turned the thing back on, I got an incredibly loud grinding sound. Considering that it was right in the middle of the closing prayer at church, well, let's just say I haven't ever used the tuner since. Overall, the thing is useful, just lacking in all the bells and whistles that it ought to have (for $250!)

Reliability : 6
Ok, here's where it gets it's lowest score. I already mentioned the tuner thing--that makes me nervous. On top of that, the cicuit board occasionally comes loose, which makes my modulation switch not work (it's a momentary switch, so if the board is loose, the switch won't make contact with the board, and thus won't turn anything on/off, which ain't so hot when you need to turn your tremolo on/off). So, I've got to open the whole thing up, and tighten the screws on the board. Not cool. Not a big deal, but still not cool. Other than that, it's a tank (I haul it around all over the place in a homemade bag, with stuff hitting the switches all over the place), but that looseness is really annoying.

Customer Support : 10
Line 6 really is great--they've got a great website, and always answer any question I've got within a few days. They deserve the 10.

Overall Rating : 7
I play at church, and we meet in a school, so we tear our stuff down each Sunday, so I need something portable and convient. The POD and floorboard is just what I need: small, light, easy to set up, without excessive stage noise (we've got a good PA). I've played Les Pauls and copies thereof through this thing, and enjoyed it. Since buying it, I've considered changing it out for the behringer midi controller (b/c it has 2 continous controllers), but I'm nervous about midi (and the way the pod would react to it). Otherwise, I would, b/c this thing is not particularly versatile, or, imho super-well designed. It needs another row of buttons, and has plenty of room inside for a direct box (wouldn't that be nice? just plug your pod into your footboard, and not need another little metal box), or even the pod itself (make it an all inclusive thing, and keep me from having to carry around a red bean--that'd give you the room you needed to have stereo ins, stereo 1/4" outs, and stereo xlr out (which I think the pod ought to have anyways). For all my complaining, i do like having the ability to switch my patches in the middle of the song--it's really handy, and makes the pod a really versatile live tool. So, I'll give the thing a 7--not bad, does what it ought to, but certainly has room for improvement.

Ease of Use : 10
I bought this to use with my Bass POD. For the Bass, it's incredibly simple. There's none of the channel/effect switching problems that other people have encountered, and the tuner seems to work well (muting my bass if i need to for whatever reason).

Sound Quality : 6
This does exactly what it says it does in the manual. Unfortunately, that's not a lot. The problem technically resides in the bass pod, not the floor board, but there's absolutely no need for a super expensive floor board if you're going to be running it for the bass pod. The B Pod only lets you run one effect at a time, so there's no boost, chorus, tap tempo, distortion etc. Basically, you can turn a single effect on/off (the effect that's programmed into the channel only). If you don't have anything programmed there, you're hooped. If you want something like the phaser, then you have to turn it off whenever you switch to that channel otherwise it'll stay on. It makes it quite easy to switch between banks and channels, and to tune, and the wah works pretty well, although it's a little quiet. Like i said, it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and if that's all i wanted it for, then it's a 10, but I'd like to see more versatility on the Pod's part, but until then, the floor board is really unnecessary.

Reliability : 8
Never had any problems. Owned it for 4 months, and used it on a weekly basis, although the bass doesn't require that much switching, and there's not a lot of mid-song-jam-your-foot-down-as-hard-as-possible-to-switch-modes. I give it an 8 because I havn't had it long enough to prove that it's worth it. Additionally, a friend has had troubles with it before, so I don't think it's a 10.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
Nothing wrong with the unit itself, just a warning to bass pod users that it's not worth the $350 Canadian for the minor ability to change banks/channels. I'm going to take it back and try to exchange it for the FB4 or some other MIDI footswitch that might work with the pod.
