Not diffcicult to use, good manual.

I bought it to use it at home for rehearsing and recordings. Mostly heavy distortion for hardrock ('80s style)

Well, for a long time (I bought it second hand, thank God not new, about 3 years ago) I noticed that the sound was rather artifical and I kept on changing and tweaking. At first you think it sounds well and usable but now that I have real class A amp (5 watt) with an isolated miked speaker cabinet in my closet, I really cannot conclude other then how weak it sounds. Specially wearing headphones (makes sense when practicing) it looks like the POD only want to make you nuts...

As long as you don't compare it to real guitar amplifying and/or do not care for tone it's a nice and easy unit. But I just can't stand the fake sound anymore so.....anyone?

Make it's broke that it sounds so bad? But what could be broken..it's all digital

Don't know

I own a serious live rig for my hardrock coverband (tube Marshall and Peavey stuff) and care for good tone. This POD is nice to have as a substitute at home but you have to accept the way it tries to emulate great guitar tone....which it cannot.

I'm clad I have a good solution at home now and everytime I power up my new mini tube gear I get inspired, motivated and happy. This Pod makes me sad and frustrated and is rather limited in use....

Requires allot of tweaking to get the few acceptable sounds contained within.

Strat & 18watt Marshall. I've tried it as a direct box, recording to my computer, with various amps, and through my home stereo, and all of the patches tend to have a nasal quality to them, which I don't like. The clean models all seem too compressed, and lifeless. Hard to get it to cut through even the most stripped down arrangments. Woofy bass. I can get better Marshall tones at bedroom levels with an overdrive pedal than I can with this thing. I bought the original version several years ago, was dissapointed and quickly sold it. I bought the 2.0 used recently, and quickly remembered why I sold the first one. I won't make this mistake again (I hope).

Never had a problem

I play alt, classic, blues, space, pop, etc. since 1986. If lost or stolen, I probobly wouldn't notice. I like the concept, but dislike the reality. My favorite feature is the off switch. Don't bother

It takes a wile to get to know the 'tap' button idea and what button will do what if pushed/turned. The manual is great, it's book.

Sound Quality : 9
I play threw a Primaxyes Custom with a semi-broken marhall g50r cd,
It doens't really have all the sounds you'd expect though. You have a wide variaty though. But the fuzz mode is rubbish. But the qwality isn't bad.

Reliability : 10
It's a gigantic metal kidney. what can i say, yes it's solid and trustleble you don't need a back up for it.

Think it's great but it doesn't produce 'my' sound.

Read the directions, its easy to get a ton of good tones and some bad ones. However, once I figured out to first adjust the "output level" and then tweek the rest. The Pod is quite an amazing little package that is adaptable.

Sound Quality : 9
The reason for the review is that it is easy to get good acceptable tone three ways. First, putting it in front of the clean channel on a Fender M80, solid state: No noise, loud (enough to gig and jam with a drummer) and just makes the old solid state much more versatile. Second, putting it in front of 5 watt class A, SE 6l6 tube rectified amp; again adding some versatility while also having some warmth, though it has sensitive interaction with the tubes...so it takes some finessing. And third, using some powered computer speakers (found at a garage sale for $1) and just the Pod for a true bedroom/dorm amp. With the two computer speakers seperated you can get a suprisingly full dimensional sound though definitely not loud and amp-like but for the purpose of quite bedroom practice, its perfect.

Reliability : 10
Don't gig, but have never had a problem at home.

Never dealth with them.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Its a good match with my two old school amps. With the Fender M80 for loud disturbing the neighborhood; the 5 watt class A warms up the pod. And finially, I love that I'm able to push it through the computer speakers and not have the family yelling to turn it down and still be able to jam along with a CD.

The Kidney Bean processor. Mine is the 2.0 version purchased straight from the store. Very easy to use. The hand book is thorough and easy to understand. Editing patches is pretty easy. It's easy to get a nice sound out of it after a little tweaking. Virtually unlimited sound possibilities.

Sound Quality : 8
I've used it through a Marshall, a Carvin SX-200 and direct through various PAs. I've also used it through a splitter, sending the main signal through to house, while sending the split signal to my amp to use it as a monitor. Works well in all situations so far. It doesn't created any additional noise and the effects are great. Can't quite emulate some of the most distinctive sounds, like, say, Santana and his PRS through the Mesa Boogies. But more general sounds like Vaughn or Clapton you can come pretty close. The main drawback with the POD 2.0 is that it doesn't really matter what guitar you use, you get the POD sound. The more advanced versions will bring your guitar's tone through, but not the 2.0.

Reliability : 10
I've gigged with it many times without a backup. Haven't had any problems. It's not the easiest to use live because you've got to dial everything in by hand, but it definitely works.

Overall Rating : 9
I play Classic Rock, a little heavy stuff and Blues and because of all the different amp and cabinet emulations, you can find whatever sound you're looking for, for the most part. I've used a Peavy guitar through it, a Carvin CT6M, a Taylor T5 , a Fender Strat, and even a Tacoma acoustic and the thing has some nice sounds. It's easy to use and has versatility out the wazoo. I'd definitely replace it if it were lost, let me say again. The upgraded versions (2.2 and up) are better for live gigging, but this has worked for me so far. It's a breeze to record with it, too, and that's probably where this thing shines the most.

Extremely easy to use. you dont get manual with this bad biy,you ge a "PILOTS HANDBOOK"!, but dont let that put you off'it is easy to understand!! editing patches and setting the banks is a piece of piss.
easy to get the sound you want with a bit of tweaking.

Sound Quality : 9
I play all kinds of stuff and the pod copes with it all!!
not keen on the "line6 clean",just sounds a bit tinny but ok if your rhythm sits right back from the other guys lead.
delay is cool and i really like the flanger effects and it has a great noise suppressor!!
I use this thru a marshall 8080 valvestate amp set on the clean channel and just run the pod straight into it.
i have the full floorboard with this baby and it is so easy to set the banks and channels with it.
some of the effects need to be tweaked ifyou want to get yur perfect tone but the stock sound are really good so,unless you want to sound exactly like your hero, you will probably find the sounds you are after.
i play mostly modern stuff (snow patrol, oasis, stereophonics, razorlight, e.t.c.) but also some black crowes and gary moore type stuff and this little baby does the lot!!!!

Reliability : 10
made of sturdy metal in a nice kidney shaped red colour.
i was given this by the other guitaris in the band cos he bought the xt live and it hs brought more confidence on stage knowing that once your sound is set then it is in there for good and you dont have to worry! it is easy to change your sounds tho if you stop doing a particular song and want to replace the sound with a different one.

i HAVE used this without a backup and it has done what it says on the tin and much more!!
very dependable bit of kit..
a word of warning tho,DO NOT LISTEN TO THE XT LIVE FIRST.AS YOU WILL BE DISSAPOINTED BECAUSE THE XT LIVE IS THE SICKEST PIECE OF EQUIPMENT YOU WILL EVER OWN!!! but this baby is an awesome macine in its own right!!!

Customer Support : 10
not had to use them yet after a full year gigging with this so thats a good sign. but any questions i have had have been answered in a coupla hours and the site is really cool.

Overall Rating : 10
if this was stolen then i would in an aboslute rage,i LOVE it!!! i would replace it straight away(if i couldnt afford the xt live that is.....lol)
it does what i need it to do,and while it isnt everybodys cup of tea,it works for me and guys in the audience always have something nice to say.
i have been playing for thirty years and i wonder why this thing wasn't created years ago!!! yay,go line 6!!

Ease of Use : 9
It's a pretty easy unit to use. The manual for it is very good, but it's not necessary to get some decent sounds out of it. Saving banks is easy, and editing is a simple matter of knob-twisting. It doesn't usually take too much to get the sound you're looking for. I use this with the FB4 footswitch - it's not nearly as good or versatile as the full floorboard, but it works without any problems.

Sound Quality : 6
First off, the clean sounds on this thing are horrible. It's hard to get a powerful clean tone without any breakup, and when those clean sounds start to break up, it just sounds bad. It tries to mimic classic tube amps, but its digital nature is most apparent in the clean sounds. The Black Panel model has the only decent clean sound. The Jazz Clean is awful, and the Line 6 Clean is not much better.

Overdrive sounds are what this unit can actually do. Many of the amp models, when overdriven, sound pretty good. Some are weak or just poor-sounding, but most of them are usable in some way. None of them sound like tubes, but they do sound like good solid state distortion. The Marshall sound is not very good - to me, it stands out as the poorest representation.

The EQ controls are inconsistent across the amp models, and they sometimes have slightly different functions for different models. The manual is helpful for this.

I have used my POD both direct and in front of an amp. It is much better used direct. It's not bad in front of an amp, but you get the best sounds direct. I used it to make some demos on a digital 4-track recorder, and the guitar sounds came out pretty good. Still, the clean channel sounds are not what they could or should be.

The effects are fine for what they are. You can't tweak them very much, but this is an amp modeler - not a multi-effects unit.

I use a Gibson Les Paul Studio, a maple-necked Fender Strat with Texas Specials, and an Epiphone Dot. With this unit, guitars are less of an issue than when using an actual amp. The unit, for lack of a better phrase , is "too digital" to let a guitar's true voice come through.

Reliability : 10
I have never had any problems with this. It appears to have tough construction, and it's lasted about three years without any problems. This probably isn't something you want to gig with, but if you do, it should hold up. The footswitch is what you'd have to worry about (but the FB4 is pretty solid, so no real worries).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never dealt with them. Read other reviews, though - a lot of them have very bad reports.

Overall Rating : 7
As a direct-recording unit, this works - especially if you're making demos and you don't have access to good studio mics. A real amp will sound better, especially if you're using tubes, but this is a workable substitute. I play alternative, prog, classic rock, and sometimes pop rock. This handles those pretty well. If I lost this, I may consider buying a new one, but there are newer (probably better) models out that I'd probably get instead.

Milagres so os Santos, Jesus e Deus.

Absolutely one of the easiest pieces of gear to use - the presets alone allow for a huge range of tonal selection ranging from clean jazz to heavy dual rectified distortion. Editing is very simple - if you can read you should be able to garner some sort of useable sounds.
This isn't for everybody. Just those who like a good amp tone.

Sound Quality : 9
I find it to be a little muddy during recording at times - but a few tweaks and it usually cleans right up. I use this and a Vetta head for recording - I like the POD tones better than the Vetta ones. Much fuller sound quality during recordings than a mic'd amp.
I use sounds that closely mimic John Petrucci and Joe Satriani and also some heavy rectified tones when required.

Reliability : 9
I've been using it for over 2 years on a daily basis. Primarily in the studio, but just recently for live applications.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. Never had any problems with Line 6.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall this suits my playing style. I don't think that you can get a super clear triple rectifier sound out of it, but you probably don't need anything with this much capability or features if you're playing that type of music anyway.
This is a fantastic and necessary piece of equipment for any guitarist serious about their tone.
BUY ONE!

I don't think guitar players program these things, but there are some great sounds to be had. My advice to you is to take the CD that came with it, and use the midi in/out to create further edits in your personal computer.

Sound Quality : 8
People ask me the famous question, "does it sound as good as a real amp?" My answer to them is, "depends one what amp your talking about." The many cases I've seen in professional recording, the answer is yes and better. It's a huge misconception that a guy with a tube amp usually has a great tone. Now there are some of my fellow band mates and sessioners that bring in Bogners, Egnaters, Matchless and such, and in comparison to those, the POD just doesn't cut it. But in a situation where some kid has a Fender Hot-Rod and doesn't know how to use it, the answer is a definite yes, it sounds as good, and better. I record with mine literaly, on a daly basis. I usually run my POD dry and use exteral floor effects, then I use a BBE sonic stomp after the POD before I go into my "secret sauce", then into the board. I can't stand people that brag, but I can honestly say, I get some great guitar tones in the studio with this tool.

Reliability : 10
Never any trouble.

I'm sure it's fine.

Overall Rating : 9
You name it, Iv'e played it. This unit has been one more albums than I can name and I've never had any complaints about tone. If it were stolen, I would have to buy another, that's all there is to it. When it comes to modeling, go Line 6. Trust me!
