Basically it's a chorus pedal with three knobs (speed, depth, and color) and a three-way switch (chorus, tri-chrorus, and vibrato). It's easy to get good sounds by flicking switches and turning knobs. Being a decent musician also helps.

I also do not understand the noise complaints of others. I use a cheap Danelectro "Zero-Hum" adapter along with a BOSS TU-2 tuner that uses a daisy chain to power 7 other pedals. The Line 6 Space Chorus is the sixth pedal in my chain and it doesn't add any noise to my setup. I like all the chorus sounds that can be dialed up with this pedal. It's very versatile. I also like the fact that the module can be popped out (if you don't insert the hex screws) and another module can be popped in on the fly.

I think the reason I'm going a little easier on this pedal than other reviewers is that I bought it used for about half the price. I did buy a Line 6 Liqua-Flange new but I couldn't justify keeping it for the price so I returned it and got groceries instead. I think these pedals are overpriced at full price so look for a used one and you'll feel better about trying one.

You do need to read the manual on this one if only to know that the middle knob goes from vintage to modern.

I'm using a variety of Grosh guitars through Dr Z's, Fender's and Riveras. I bought this pedal because I run 2 amps through a tonebone JX2 and the stereo chorus on this pedal is pretty good. When I purchased this pedal I also added 2 other pedals to my board and I was getting a major tone drain and also some increased noise. After 2 hours of trying different things I discovered that it was the Line 6 Space Chorus that was creating the problem. After removing it everything got better. Needless to say the pedal, although new out of the box, is only worth 40% of new on ebay. I almost hate to sell it to some unsuspecting player but heck it didn't bother line 6.

This is the first time I've ever dinged something but I get so tired of glowing reviews. I think it's even more helpful to here about tone drains before you experience them. I don't presently have a chorus pedal so I don't have any recomendations.

This unit is very user friendly and very easy to dial in. There's not much to figuring it out, the manual is simple to understand.

I don't get the bad reviews. This unit sounds great, "NO NOISE". I am using the Line 6 power adapter and I have the Vodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 both of which power it up "NOISE FREE". I am aware that some pedal power supplies don't work well with this unit or certain other effects. This is the reason I use the Pedal Power 2, because it isolates each effect unit so you don't get a ground loop which causes noise.
The Chorus sounds rich & beautiful. You can dial it in from vintage to modern depending on your taste. The Tri Chorus sounds great too, first time I have had a Tri Chorus effect. The Vibrato is nice, beside the typical fast vibrato sounds it really shines on the slower vibrato speeds. Very cool effect. I have a DLS Chorus-Vibe which sounds good but is not as versatel as the Line 6.

I have been playing for 33 years and play all kinds of different music. The chorus & vibrato effect has it's place and where it is needed this one works great. I love boutique pedals and amps and have several of them. I bought the module only, because I can use it in the Verbzilla housing which is a nice feature. I can always get another housing if desired. It would be great if it had a few different switchable setting but then the pedal would be larger and it is a bit heavy as is. A lot of players pick on Line 6 products but I think they do a great job with their stuff. Bang for the buck Line 6 has some great sounds.

3 knobs, 3-way switch. Pretty easy to use. The trick is learning to work with the tap tempo, which isn't complicated as well. Stereo and Mono outputs.

Well, I'm reading these reviews and I can't understand where the problem is. I didn't notice any bypass issues.
This is one of the best choruses i have ever worked with. Can go from thick and warm chorus to modern chorus, using the color knob. I find the vibrato useful for me, but that's because i don't like vibrato. The "Tri" mode is messy.
I have noticed only one problem with the unit- It reduces volume (when it's on) in chorus mode. I guess that i'll open it up and fix that up by myself someday.

Very noisy pedal and sounds terrible. Noisy even in bypass and sucks tone out of your guitar. I only use 3 pedals. wah, delay, and chorus...and the space chorus is noisy and aweful. I expected more from Line 6.

Not all that hard to use. Only problem in my opinion is the weird tap-tempo, which didn't work for me. I ended up putting the speed to zero when I actually wanted to turn the pedal on or off. Major let down for me, but that could just be me.
Other shitty thing is that you can't run this baby on batteries. They run out within the hour, so you need a dedicated power supply, which doesn't work for me, since I change my setup a lot.
Last thing is the weight of this thing. It appears to weigh just as much as my DL4 (brilliant pedal, buy one now!!!).
All in all it's not bad, but just doesn't work for me. Went back to the store and got traded in for a EHX Small Clone, which is way better. I am saving up for an Analog.Man Clone Bi-Chorus (genius in a pedal!)
Anyway, a 6 seems fair...

Here's the problem for me. I did not experience any hum or noise, but it just ate away half of my tone. Yes, I use proper cables and yes, I also use proper gear (Fender Telecaster USA and Marshall JTM60 amp), so all I could do was blame the Space Chorus. Sounds OK, but nothing spectacular...
Sounds: 6/7
Tone-eating: 1/2
Makes for a 4

It sounds good if you use it on its own, Don't use it if you're planning to run more pedals off of the same power supply as this one, it creates an annoying buzz, I have one plug powering 6 effects and one plug powering this pedal, thats the cheapest way to stop the noise. But I would suggest against it.

I plugged this in at a store with an Epiphone Zakk Wylde(mostly because I wanted to amuse my girlfriend) into a Peavey amp of some kind and it sounded pretty right away. I think the surest sign of anything good in terms of guitar gear is when a non-player gives you that wide-eyed "that sounds GOOD" reaction, which she did. This was the second when I kicked it on, so that's not bad.
There's a LOT of tweaking to be expected with this pedal to get the sweet spots, but that's pretty much par for the course with most gear anyway.

I don't want to say this is the be-all and end-all, but it's very nice. I bought a Boss CE-5 years and years ago when I first made the switch to electric guitar(I played solely acoustic for the first year) without having any idea what a chorus pedal actually was, which is pretty funny. It wasn't until one day when I had it on and randomly started playing "Come as You Are"(like all beginners, I guess) and I finally had a clue. I really liked that pedal, but I ended up trading it to a friend for a Whammy Wah which was later given away or something, I really don't remember. I always missed having that pedal around and I finally decided that I needed to get a chorus pedal again after listening to way too much Sunny Day Real Estate.
I decided I didn't want to pay more than $100 before taxes, and it wasn't until a local music store had their post-Christmas sale that this was marked down from $179.99 to $99(I live in Eastern Canada, all gear is expensive as hell here) and I decided that I needed to pick it up. I already have a Line 6 DL4 which I love, so I figured I'd just go with the easy choice.
It sounds very pretty and you can get varying degrees of good sounds out of it when you sit down and tweak the knobs a bit. I find the Tri setting is pretty loud and overwhelming, and I have absolutely no use for Vibrato at all. I just leave it on the Chorus setting with the Speed and Color both on about 10:30 and the Depth on about 1:30. The best example of the sound I want with this pedal on is the opening chord at the beginning of the Sunny Day Real Estate song "The Rising Tide", that chimey and lush sound for occasional parts. This pedal does that really well and I'm very satisfied, but I'm sure there are other pedals that would do much more, so this gets an 8.
I'm using it with a Tech 21 Trademark 300 head going into a Zinky 2x12 cab with an Explorer that has EMG pickups(85 bridge/60 neck). I like my setup a lot, but it would be nice to try this in the effects loop. This amp is notoriously sketchy when it comes to the loop and neither the DL4 nor the Space Chorus work at all with it. It's just good that they sound fantastic going into the front of the amp.

It's really, really heavy and it seems pretty straightforward. I've used it at two jams at this point and a bunch of solo practicing, so I really can't say anything about reliability. The only thing annoying about it is that the knobs are really loose and your settings can be bumped off extremely easily, even by moving it to and from practice or a show or something. When I have my settings completely nailed, I'll just mark them on the pedal with a sharpie or something.

The kind of stuff I play in my band is fairly Dredg-ish, but a little heavier. Basically, spacey hard rock in the vein of Dredg, Cave In, Sunny Day Real Estate, Circa Survive, The Cure, even Minus the Bear or Misery Signals as well.
I find that chorus for the most part sounds incredibly dated, but there are subtle, pretty settings that sound really good. Sunny Day Real Estate is the main band I can think of off-hand that has this going, so I keep referring to them, but that's definitely what got me thinking about picking one up.
Overall, very nice and versatile, but I don't have a lot of knowledge as to whether or not this would be knocked on its ass by other pedals in the same price range. It works for me, that's all I'm really worried about.

Ok let me difuse the whole "noise" issue once and for all. I tried this pedal out at guitar center the first time I played it. It was noisy like no other...but then I heard it played by a friend who had the power set up properly and this thing sounded amazing. Completely silent and the tone was awesome. So I decided to buy one. I bought it and used the same power set up as my buddy...completely silent. The pedal is amazing. I really love the versatility of the sound. This pedal is great. What is the power setup you ask? 2 ways. Use either a LINE 6 power source OR power your pedal board with Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2. I power it with the Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus and it works like a charm. I have the echo park as well and it handles the power requirements of that pedal without a hitch. You get the annoying hum and excess noise because you are powering the pedal incorrectly. Some will complain that they don't want to be forced to use a specific power source to use a pedal...well for those of you who feel that way...uh...ok. Your loss. The pedal power 2 really is a wonderful way to power your board hands down. It eliminates noise from all my pedals. It really lets you enjoy your pedals and allows them to sound how they were intended to. This space chorus rocks. I play a gretsch and run it through a Fender hotrod deluxe. I give it a 9 because I know it's not the best pedal out there. For the money though...it delivers big time.

I play indie rock, alternative, blues, and jazz. This pedal fits all of those categories without a problem and that's what gives it value in my mind. The versatility is great. I've been playing for about 15 years and used to own different Boss chorus pedals. I always felt like something was missing with those. If it were lost or stolen, I would definitely replace it unless I had the cash to try out an expensive boutique chorus pedal. People also complain about a boost in the Tri setting. I don't really notice it. I think that may also be associated with incorrect power set up. It's a great pedal and worth the money if you'll take the time to set it up properly. It's unfortunate that so many people never get to really hear the pedal for what it's really worth because they mess up something as simple as the power supply.

Personally, I liked the standard chorus mode which reminds me of boss units--very musical; and the vibrato mode--which sounds like the vibrato on a JC 120 (think Police). The "Tri" mode, while having a decent sound--thick and fat--boosts the output quite a bit beyond unity gain, something I hate in an effect like chorus, where what I want is to change the sound, not the volume.
Anyway, I returned the pedal and here's why: Like other reviewers before me, the noise this thing generates in my pedal chain is unacceptable--when turning the knobs it "motors"--i.e. sounds like a gasoline operated zipper or something. When it's off, you can still hear the oscillation of the unit through your amp. This is the same problem that I had with my $40.00 DOD Ice Box. Out of curiosity, I seperated it out from my other pedals and ran it solo into my amp--that solved the problem, but, since I want to use it in my fx chain, I brought it back and got myself a Boss CE-5 for $69.00 which can do the two settings I liked on the Line6 at least as well as it did and has the added benefit of being absolutely DEAD QUIET on OR off in my fx chain. I don't know what the problem with the line6 is, maybe if they used true bypass it would be better--but Boss pedals aren't true bypass and the CE-5 doesn't have this problem...go figure.
Chorus tones = 8-9
Noise = 0-1
--> it gets a 4.
