Pretty straight forward

All knobs do something noticable and expected.

Ok, I dig Lexicon reverb. Two of my favorite players use Lexicon.
Steve Kimock uses an LXP1 and Bill Frisell uses an MPX100. They both have a similar quality that stands out from your typical verb.

I happen to own the MPX100 and it does what I would expect. Problem is, it doesn't play well with others, it gets buzzy around gear sometimes, and it's a rackmount unit and I don't do rackmount.

So I've been on a search for anything that sounds similar, nothing.
I tried the Digiverb and it's a good pedal, just doesn't do the Lexicon thing. And so many floor pedals seem to emulate the spring reverb as the highlight. I dig spring but I have it on my amp.

When Verbzilla came out, I had my reservations. I own the PODxtLive
and owned the AXsys 212, The POD is awesome but I have to say the verbs are nice but nothing special.
Like I do with all new reverbs I hunt for the posibility of it nailing the Lexicon. My first stop was the Hall model and it hit me right away, with a few tweaks I had the closest Lexicon tone I ever found.
The Hall is the only model that does this, the other models take me somewhere else.

I don't really like the octave thing, too fractured, not creamy.
The spring is very good.

The Hall is why I would use this pedal. Excellent.
I'll leave the Lexicon at home.

No probs yet

Never have had a problem with Line6

Hey, they made it didn't they?

That supported me :)

Until they don't, it's 10

Verbzilla is the best floor verb I've found. Why? Because it sounds very close to the Lexicon verb that I love. That is why I would have it on my floorboard. Real estate is limited on the board
and there is already a backup of pedals that don't make it.
But the Verbzilla has the honor of being the last in the chain on my board.

Not to hard to grasp how to work it, just dialing in a good sound may take awhile. Not too bad overall though.

Sound Quality : 7
First off, this pedal is bypassed when the trails switch is off. However, turn the trails switch on, and wave goodbye to your tone. My pedal, I don't know if this goes for all of them, actually causes quite a dramatic volume increase, and adds so much bass, it's about the same as diming the bass on my amp, and rolling off highs. Fortunately, it isn't as bad on all settings, but it's definitely noticeable. For this alone I give it a 7

Moving on to the actual sounds of the reverb, they're amazing. I use cave the most, simply because it does the retarded amount of reverb thing amazing, which suits my post-rock playing quite well. The hall and plate are also of honorable mention. The two springs emulate decently, but my amp spring is a lot better, to me at least. The octo setting is cool to mess around with for volume swells and such, but I can't find much use for it other than messing around in a jam.

Reliability : 9
The casing is built pretty solid, but the knobs do seem a bit flimsy. Just be careful

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
Overall, it isn't a terribly bad pedal. It definitely has some solid reverb sounds, but it's just the bass boost that frustrates me, although no one can really hear it live, I can. Don't let this shy you away from the pedal though, like I said, amazing reverb sounds. It does over the top reverb sounds pretty well, ala Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky.

Basically, if you want good, over the top reverb, this is a go to pedal.
If you want clean, studio reverbs, go for a Hardwire RV-7.
If you want a solid spring, go for that Danelectro Spring King.

Ease of Use : 8
Easy to find interesting sounds. There's non need for the manual. Despite the huge qantity of settings and nuances this pedal is very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
It's a digital reverb. If you need versatility, a great number of different settings (and all of them sound good and are usefull for a large variety of applications) you are encouraged to choose this pedal.
I have to say that this pedal sounds better than any reverb you can find in amps produced today (even the spring ones), and better than other digital pedals. Including those priced 300 euros or more.
T-Rex Room Mate for instance doesn't sound any better than this. I tried it lots of times. It's a nice pedal with a tube. They say the tube makes the sound warmer. But to my ears Verbzilla sounds better.
If you prefer analog stuff, you may choose an external unit or other stuff like Little Lanilei and VanAmps Reverbmate.
But.
Such stuff is much more expensive and doesn't sound "better". It's a different kind of reverb, a surf guitarist will obviously choose a spring unit. But that stuff is priced nearly 1000 euros, is very difficult to carry out, and has only one setting so it will not emulate Hall or Cave reverbs.
One may say that digital reverbs are cold. I say, if you speak about Boss Reverb you are right. Verbzilla is much more natural, very dynamic and will not change the sound of your guitar. And is completely quiet.
Other pedals like Holy Grail are very very noisy.
So.
If you choose this you'll have versatility and quality (good quality).
If you choose analog stuff you'll only have quality. Think about that.

Reliability : 9
Very well built. That's it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed.

Overall Rating : 10
As I said above, I think that this pedal could even be useful for those guys who already have a reverb in their amps.
Taht's because a simple spring reverb has a very restricted range of applications while this can be used as a sort of delay (echo function) and as a modulator (octo). It even works perfectly with other pedals.
In my opinion is the best choice one can make.
I looked for the right pedal for months, tried every possibility, even to buy a hand made spring reverb built by a friend perfectly working and priced less than this. But my conclusion was that if I buy a spring reverb I will always need even this! Instead, this pedal can even replace the spring one.

Despite the 5 knobs and the 11 selectable reverb settings the pedal is not difficult to use. Obviously, you need to spend some time to learn what are you favourite sounds, but all of them are nice and can be used in any context. I didn't need the user's manual to find some nice settings in a reasonable time.

Sound Quality : 10
Ok, that's the main question: "How does it sound?". Very very nice. I don't hear differencies with the analog ones. I find it much more deep and brilliant than those included in Fender amps for istance.
It's not noisy at all. Absolutely. And that's important to me.
It's a digital effect, that means two things:

1- somebody says digital reverbs are not able to emulate perfectly vintage spring reverb units. I don't think so. If you compare a spring reverb with a Holy Grail I agree with this opinion, but this pedal is based on some new algorthms that work much better.
I agree that a surf rock player prefers to have an analog reverb.
But the cost is different (a vintage reverb unit has a price that sometimes reaches 1000 dollars!!). Then, this is a pedal and not something whoose dimensions are similiar to a guitar head.
Finally, I know a lot of players who use this effect to "help" the reverb in their amps. So if you want a warm vintage sound you may prefer a vintage spring reverb, but this sounds clear too. And better than a lot of reverbs you may find in a tube amp.

2- you have 11 reverb settings and a very very very cristal clear sound. Analog doesn't allow that. Think abot it.

It works as a delay echo and can create some interesting modulations (the "octo" model). Works very good with other pedals.

Reliability : 8
Very strong and well built.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never needed.

Overall Rating : 10
If you need a reverb don't hesitate, this is the best reverb pedal for sound and versatility. Works better than other digital reverbs (even those priced 350 euros like T-Rex, just to mention one). Sounds more clean and has more settings than analog ones.

Ease of Use : 7
Relatively straightforward for the reverb lackey, or anyone wanting to dabble in lengthy ambient reverbs.

Sound Quality : 9
The reverbs sound absolutely lovely, perfect for ambient, postrock/postmetal, or anything of that ilk, possibly some CTTS-esque screamo moments. Compared to most non rack reverbs on the market, it provides the best sounding and longest reverbs. The somewhat hyped Octo preset, however, is not as good as anticipated, and is probably the reverb I use least apart from the Room setting. Even without the Tonecore power supply, it is still pretty noiseless. Sometimes it can get a bit hissy, though.

Reliability : 7
Looks like plastic, then you pick it up, and it's rather ******* heavy. Built like a tank, could drop it and it would still work nicely. However, if you swap in other Tonecore modules like I do, the modules themselves are pure plastic, and I am scared to leave them anywhere, for fears they will fall off of a bench or get stomped on.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Shocking, from what I've heard. Haven't needed to deal with them thusfar, though.

Overall Rating : 9
Here's the obligatory "I play..." section:

I play (or rather, listen to and dabble in) ambient, postrock, stuff like that, **** you find on www.afterthepostrock.com , but definItely NOT INTO GOD DAMNED SURFER ROCK, and I DID NOT buy this pedal to COMPENSATE FOR MY AMP'S LACK OF SPRING REVERB. For things like that, this pedal is probably the best you can get without lugging around a heavy rackmounted unit. For the postrock lackey, this will make you feel cool plugged into your 5w practice Peavy amp, just remember your rosin; and if you use it live at a local show, people will be flabbergasted like they've never heard reverb before in their lives. "YOU HAVE MOVED ME BEYOND TEARS INTO A NEW REALM OF SPACIOUS MUSIC OUTSIDE OF FERGIE"

If you're trying to get into your local alternative crowd, this pedal, coupled with volume swells, tight jeans and lots of colourful chords (ie absolutely murder 9ths, 6ths and 7ths), this will provide you passage into the groin of a scenester female (or male, if you so prefer).

I'm mostly using small valve amps of 5W or less (fender, laney & crate) with my 6 string Rick, Strat 12 and Fender Baritone/Bass VI, most of these small amps don't have room for a spring tank ( or a spring or a digital reverb effect falls outside their target price) so I was mostly interested in the spring reverb modeling, took a little time to get the right sounds out of it tweaking mix, decay & time to get it "just right".... and I must say it does a damn good job, the only thing I miss is not being able to "gently kick" the amp (well the pedal) to get spring crash which was a "necessary" part of some of the surf punk tunes we play (hmm line 6 maybe you need to put a "kick pad" on the front of the case to emulate this)

other effects seem good, used it through a digital piano a few times but nothing serious enough to critique the sound or how difficult it is to tweak.

Sound Quality : 8
as above - for the sounds I got it for (spring reverb emulation) it was great.... the others well they sound great but can't comment as their not in my field of knowledge - they sound good but not sure how good compared to "the real thing"

Reliability : No Opinion
umm... they look tough, they weigh in at, like, 4 times the weight of a similarly sized Boss pedal... but given the complexity of the electronics (essentially they are little dedicated computers in a stomp box) I'd be a bit suspect about treating them as mean as you can treat a Boss pedal.... no opinion as I've never gigged with them only jams and parties.

Customer Support : No Opinion
the local distributer is actually quite good, but I've never had any line 6 gear die on me so ... buh! no idea.

Overall Rating : 8
yadda yadda yadda... wish I'd save this from other reviews...
playing bass, guitar (6&12), baritone guitar, keyboards since mid 1980's pretty much everything: hard rock, heavy metal, death metal, hardcore, punk surf, pop, prog, stoner rock , grunge, old school (muscle souls style) R&B 'n R&R et. al.

if lost/stolen? yeh sure I'd buy another one, or try find a real spring tub, only stomp box size reverb pedal that give a good emulation of the real thing.

Only thing I'd like is a "kick plate/pad" added to it some where (or even a plug for a external SPDT/SPST switch box) so you could emulate the sound of kicking a real spring coil tub - which is pretty much a must have sound in surf punk which is what I'm currently playing - instead I have an old "noisy as" A/B pedal that spikes when you stomp it.. it's an OK bodge but not the real deal.

bit expensive given I only use it for the two spring sounds, guess if I needed/wanted the other sounds I'd feel I was getting better value out of it

Also you really need to get an external power adaptor 'cause it chews up even good brands of 9V battery in only 2 or 3 hours - less than a jam session or playing at a party for me.

Cool pedal. I've been wanting some sort of outboard verb pedal for ages to produce a nice surf sound. I've tried several and none really did it for me. Since this thing models a '63 Fender Spring, I just had to get one.

There are more controls here than many will be used to. Heck, most of our amps just have a 'Reverb' knob. What do we know from Time and Decay?

These controls are critical for changing the behavior of this monster (hey L6 put 'Zilla' in the name, not me) for various models.

For example, to get a nice drippy, surf tone, I've found that minimum delay time and about 40% decay work best. For some of the more standard halls and rooms, a longer delay with decay to taste works better.

The tone control is an oft overlooked gem. I really like it pegged for surf and backed way off for other sounds.

There is a bit of a learning curve for we luddites used to a single knob, but the examples in the manual give us a place to start.

I have to admit that I had to play with it for an hour or so to get much that really excited me.

Sound Quality : 8
As you might have guessed, I play a lot of surf. So I tend to use Strats and the like. I've also played a DiPinto into the Zilla with good to excellent results.

The pedal is very quiet. I'm not able to detect any added noise.

There are a bunch of really useful sounds here. Not surprisingly, I really like the '63 Reverb sound (more on that later), but the halls and rooms are also quite nice. The Echo sound has enough delay to get into slapback range and actually gives you a nice Sun sound.

The much talked about Octo setting is really fun. It creates a very synthy, pad sort of sound. Your playing has to suit it's use and I'm not sure it's a sound I would ever fall totally in love with, but it's loads of fun to play with.

One thing is critical to getting good sound out of this device. Placement. The '63 Reverb sounds awesome in front of an amp. Pretty much everything else works far better in an effects loop. If you set up a 'Cave' reverb in front of your Marshall stack, you're just going to get a muddy mess. Be advised. This isn't a fault of the pedal. It's acoustics. Place this thing where it belongs in the chain.

As mentioned, the '63 Reverb is the real attraction to me. It's good. Very good. Not perfect, but very good. Closer than any other modeler that I've tried with the exception of the '63 Reverb model on the Cyber Twin. Not really a fair comparison. You'd expect Fender to be better at modeling a Fender device.

However, it's not perfect. I can't get as intense of a reverb as I'd like. It just doesn't give quite the hollow, drippy sound that I'm after. Close enough for me to be happy, but I could use a little more.

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems well built. I like the idea of the replaceable modules.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't really expect to need much support for this. If it breaks, I'll just return it to Musicians Friend. If it's out of warranty, I doubt it's worth paying to have fixed. I've been pretty disappointed with L6s support over the years.

Overall Rating : 8
I'm very pleased with this device. Over the past 25 years of playing, at one time or another, I've tried it all and this is the best reverb pedal I've come across. Holy Grails are great. RV3s are very good. I'm sure the list goes on, but I really like this thing.

As for the reviewers that think it's digital sounding -- well, I don't hear it. I'm not going to argue with you, but I've got lots of experience with lots of gear in lots of situations and I just don't hear it. I think some have said things like it 'sucks' tone. Whatever. I appreciate your comments and respect your opinions, but think you're missing the forest for the trees.

Straight forward, but who change all that settings ?

Sound Quality : 8
It??s good for a digital reverb. But it is still digital, and you can hear that. In front of the amp or in the effect loop: It will eat the best of your tone. If you allready have digital stuff in your signal path you shouldn't care, then you have nothing to loose.

Ease of Use : 9
Ease to use, typical knobs for a reverb pedal.
The manual is very clear too.

Sound Quality : 9
It's the best reverb pedal I've ever tried. Of course I haven't tried the T-Rex Room Mate or the TC Electronic NR-1 and other boutique pedals that are a lot more expensive but for it's price it's a very good value. Better than the Holy Grail and the Boss RV-5 imo.

The 63 Spring mode is just as close as it can get to a real spring reverb. The Cave is also one of my favourites and the Octo which is simply awesome. I can spend hours with it! The trails switch is nice as you can hear how the reverb fades out when you turn the pedal off.

Mi signal chain is:
Epiphone Riviera (Gibson 57 Classic PAF's,electronics upgraded) -> Analogman Juicer -> Dunlop Wah -> Analogman TS9 tubescreamer -> Boss DD-3 -> Providence Anadime Chorus 2 -> Line 6 Verbzilla -> Orange Rocker 30.

It's a really quiet pedal and although it's not true bypass I haven't noticed any tone suck. Boss pedals are worst.

Reliability : 8
It's built like a tank but it's made in China so you never know what will happen tommorrow. I don't like the skinny knobs at all, they don't seem very reliable but we'll see.

It's my first Line 6 pedal so I don't know much about the quality standards of these pedals. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never dealt with them yet.

Overall Rating : 9
Great value for the money. Maybe the best non-boutique reverb pedal out there.
I play mainly rock, brit rock and indie and this pedal fits my style perfectly. Doesn't colour the tone and has a lot of useful settings.
I love my Orange but I missed a good reverb and know I'm fully satisfied.

I skipped the manual. There are quite a few knobs on this pedal, but they are all pretty self explanetory. I plugged it in, picked a verb type, put the mix at 11 o'clock, and there it was. No problem getting good verb here. The only problem is seeing what your set on. The knobs are small and hard to read on stage.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality is top notch. You'll have many options on what type of verb you want. I think almost all of them are great. I'm running it on a pedalboard with a Keeley BD-2 and a Keeley SD-1 through an old Carvin tube amp. I just stick with the regular verbs, but there are some interesting ones on here. The octive and echo setting are cool, but not the most practical. However, if you play with effects mixed heavily, you'll have more use for these sounds than I do.

Reliability : 6
I've been gigging with it for 3 weeks now. No problems yet. Even though it's a big, heavy duty pedal, the actual on switch that you step on seems cheap and kinda wiggles around. Also the knobs are small and plastic. They too move around and aren't very durable feeling. With normal use, I don't expect any problems from this. I definatly don't carry a backup, but it's just a verb pedal. It could explode and i'll still make it through the night.

I am 31 years old. I play country, reggae, jam, rock, acoustic and blues. Pretty much all of it. I've been playing proffesionaly and full time for over 12 years. I've used rack systems and pedal boards. This pedal sounds as good as most reverbs out there. It works on all styles. If it were stolen, I would but this pedal again. Not just cause it's a great verb, but the price is way, way less that anything that is better. Like I said earlier, parts of it seem cheap, and I wish the knobs were easier to see. One quick tip: Keep the "trails" swich on. That way the wound doesn't cut off dead when you turn it off. Cool feature. All in all....great pedal.

Ok, mine is just a stock Line 6 Verbzilla. The manual was easy to use and understand but I like to toy with things so I don't really have much time for manuals, but I will say this, read about what all the knobs do before you go messing with it just so when you know what you are after you can find it. It is so easy to get any reverb sound you could possibly want out of this thing! I don't know how they do it. I bought it because I use a Fender Bassman, and (obviously) a Fender Bassman has no reverb, and i love reverb. I needed a quick fix and I saw this, and bought it with out hesitation. It has two inputs and outputs which is nice when you have a Fender Bassman because you can use both channels, which I like to do. Once you find out what all the different knobs do, it is fairly simple to use.

Sound Quality : 10
I like that basic background reverb, not too much but not so subtle you can barely notice it. I like it on all the time and with this pedal I have it. I thought that by putting it on the '63 spring it would give me that beautiful Fender reverb sound but it is'nt, it is very, very in your face on that setting so I put it on the spring reverb, put all the knobs to half and put the mix to 11 o'clock and voila! I have the reverb I want and I have'nt touched it since. I messed with it for a bit, and all the settings are very cool and very useful in there own way but this is the one I like. I don't really mess with it because it sits on top of my amp, and I just plug in the adapter and play, but when I did I found that the octo setting is very, very cool you can use it for some wierd trippy color to add to your solo or anything, it gives it this harmonic meets an organ with sustain effect, but like I said this is basically my reverb tank, so I don't really use it for the other effects. For what I wanted and what I got out of it I have to say I am beyond happy, I am extatic! Oh and by the way, NO NOISE at all! Not even the slightest hum or buzz which is nice seeing as how I run it all the time.

Reliability : 10
This thing is the heaviest pedal I have ever held, and I have a Radial Engineering Tonebone Classic Trimode which is also as a beast, but still does'nt weigh half as much as this little beauty. It is a tank, It has'nt failed me at all and I bet I could drop it off of a roof and it would still work. Seems like it is even better quality then Boss. Good job Line 6!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Like I said, it is a tank so I have'nt had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
I play original modern hard rock and it suits me perfectly. I have been playing for 14 years and I have become quit acustomed to reverb over the years, so when I got my Bassman I was quite deppresed without my reverb so I went out and bought the first reverb unit I saw (stupid move I know but I was desperate) lucky for me it does more then I was looking for. Plus I live in a small town that only has one music store that rarely gets any good equipment in, once again lucky me. I did'nt really get a chance to compare to other reverb unit's except for the holy grail and the memory man (I know, it is'nt exactlty reverb) which are also very nice but produce way too much noise, espescially since I run it all the time. Like I said, I only wanted some really versatile spring reverb, so I don't really need all the other stuff but hey when I go into the studio who knows what I might use with this thing, and I am glad it has all of the options that it has so I can one day experiment. I play Gibson Les Pauls (Swamp Ash Studio, and a Double Cut Faded) and my precious Bassman through a Peavey 4x12 cab and our music is kind of like Breaking Benjamin meets Army of Anyone and I now have a great setup with the addition of this and my Tonebone. If it were lost or stolen I would buy one that very second I found out it was missing. The bottom line is this, anyone who owns an amp without reverb or just flat out hates the reverb that your amp has, give this a shot when you are shopping around it will shock and amaze you! It did for me. I love everything about it and hate nothing.

i agree with fool below me it is not easy to use at all but this goes with anything over 3 knobs and this thing has five and a switch. its got alotta of different sounds but i only found a few useable since i use the reverb on my amp. the manual is ehh. if someone messes with my settings it seems like i cant ever achieve the sound i once had. weird huh.

ok this thing sounds wonderfull to me love the ambient effect, like the music they play in a movie where angels emerge from a foggy background or something. I use the 'gate' or 'cave' setting dont know which since my pedal isnt here with me but it makes the sound im looking for when I bought it. I can use this thing in all my songs if I wanted but I only use it as a cool filler in a few, I give it a 10 because if compared to some of my other pedals then this thing always adds something nice no matter where in the pedal chain.

Like I said before too many knobs and options but I guess this means that im not familiar with it like I should be since im a lazy. but this pedal makes a sound that I love, no wait first distortion then delay then this.

I use it wit hughes & kettner trilogy and i like 63 spring reverb on it.
It probably sounds a little better than boss digital reverb, but it is only a little.
It picks up radio signal even when used with shielded cables.
When you set it up for clean and want to use amps distortion with same setting you get ten times stronger mix which makes this pedal useles for switching between chanels.
When you set it up for crunch or gain and go to clean with same setting you get no reverb at all.(exactly the same with line 6 echo park)

now this is where this piece of shit sucks the most-i bought it and it was faulty straight from the box:it works for 2-3 minutes with new battery than switches off. When you change the battery it does the same over and over again.
And than i got myself another one and it worked o.k.-for two days than the same thing happened to new one.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Couldnt be bothered, its still sitting in my draw-and i still play without any reverb

Overall Rating : 1
It has decent sound for a digital reverb but it is just to complex for cheap chinese mass production.
I owe pretty good gear and this pedal(when it worked)was a weakest link(fucking radio signal and other crap),so i decided to spend some more money and buy fender 63 reissue reverb unit.
If you can afford one-get it,and if not i strongly recomend boss reverb pedal instead of line 6(it let me down on gig so it might do that to you as well).
As i said before sound is relatively good, but when two of these die on you it is hard to keep any sympathy for them.
Sound-O.K. Line 6 pedal-hunk of junk

I've bought this little beast because I wanted a good spring reverb simulation to use with amps without reverb or those with a short spring, not so good, reverb (like my Laney LC15 and Marshall JMC900):
I've made an A/B test with the lush reverb inside a 100W Fender Twin , and the result was incredible : same creamy warmth, same glassy and dynamic, tremulant effect as the best spring reverb in the world!!!

It's easy to get a good sound out of it, but getting the exact sound you're looking for may take some futzing. There are a number of dials, so it may not be as easy to work with as something like the holy grail.

Sound Quality : 9
Yes -- I did basically just buy this -- but I was looking for one sound and I've gotten about as close to it as I could hope to get with my equipment.

The spring reverb emulation is pretty good; it's got a fairly convincing "sproing" when you pick a muted string. Of course it's not *perfect*, but I bet you could fool most folks (including me). And you can really lay it on thick. Basically the only reason I bought a reverb pedal at all was to try for the "reverb before overdrive" sound that Neil Young uses for a lot of his leads -- "Like a Hurricane" in particular.

I am running a Telecaster into a Blues Deluxe for loudness & a Roland Cube 30 for practice. Unfortunately, I can't exactly crank the Blues Deluxe in my apt, so I set the Cube 30 for Tweed & upped the gain, then threw in a bucket of the '63 spring reverb. It's closer to Neil's sound on that song than I would have expected to get, and it's certainly a blast to play around with.

I should also mention -- "Trails" is rather a nice feature to have, and can be switched on and off. When trails is set to "on" and the effect is disabled, the pedal will allow the last bit of reverb to fade out naturally rather than abruptly cutting out.

It is not noisy, but there is a small pop when switching reverb modes. This pop can only be heard when the effect is on (or "Trails" is enabled, because the pedal is basically still on in that case).

Reliability : No Opinion
No idea. It's heavy as hell, but you could put weights in just about anything and make it feel pretty solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No clue.

I've been playing for about 12 years... it's really just a hobby for me, so I still consider myself an amateur. I play mostly indie rock & classic stuff like the above.

For me, it does what I bought it to do. There is really only one thing that bothers me about it -- the "battery low" indicator. It looks like this would be an issue with all of the "Tone Core." It's not a big deal, but there is only one LED indicator. Normally when the effect is engaged the LED is lit solid green; when the battery is low, however, this LED blinks red no matter whether the effect is engaged or not. I normally run my pedals until the battery just plain gives out, but not being able to easily tell if the effect is on at a glance would prevent me from doing that with this pedal.

Anyhow, 9!

I got it for the Shimmer and it's awesome. I like it way better than the IPS33b I had (couldn't afford the coins for an Eventide). I have an old Boss PS2 to try and get the Shimmer in a pedal but the Verbzilla absolutely slays it. It's not noisy.
Using it with a US Strat with Bareknuckle Irish Tours, a Carlsbro Fatboy Class A amp, a MXR DynaComp and an Ibanez PDM1 Modulation Delay.

Not had it long enough but it does seem sturdy.

If you're an Edge head and you want Shimmer in a pedal, then you need this. The reverbs are pretty good but for me it's all about the Shimmer. Sucks a liitle bit of tone but not anywhere near enough for me to worry about.

Post-punk is my favorite genre, but I also like soul, surf, and poprock. I also play a little blues, country, and bluegrass from time to time. This pedal has settings that will work in probably any genre.

The Octo setting, as a reviewer has already mentioned is a great, affordable 'shimmer' sound. If you're into U2, it's worth it for this settin alone. I also like plate (smooth) and cave (nice and vast).

It isn't quite as warm as a real spring 'verb, but it's still lush and incredibly quiet. I'd say the Holier Grail has a bit more character, but it adds white noise and you lose a bit of volume.

I use it primarily with a Vox AC30 (set fairly clean) and an Epiphone Galaxie 25. Guitars are a Dean (Fat) Strat copy and Fender Limited Edition Telecaster (humbuckers with coil tap).

Trails option is very nice for fading into dry.

Reliability : 9
I do wish the knobs were a bit harder to turn, but I've had no problems to speak of and would gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No comment. Never dealt with Line6.

Overall Rating : 10
This is a good match for anything that requires reverb, but particularly good for some airy, arpeggio heavy post-punk styles.

I also own an EHX Hollier Grail and a Vanamps Reverbamate (real spring 'verb, but a small sound that also compromised headroom). I used to own a Boss RV-5, which had nice sounds but was a bit thin.
My first reverb experiences were with a Digitech RP100 and Pandora PX3. The reverb on the 'zilla far surpasses those two, as one might expect.

A modulated reverb might have been nice (like the Boss RV-5), as would an unmixed dry signal (no A/D D/A conversion) but it's quite gentle on your original tone, I don't notice much difference.

it's very easy to use, but you should get used to it! you should know how to set it if you'd like to change something in a live situation. but that's usual for a footpedal :-)

the manual is good and tells you something about the models and how to use them.

it's not programmable, but hey! after a few programmable pedals, i'd come to like the others more!

Sound Quality : 10
WOW! This thing is amazing! I play very often via headphones, where you can hear every little hiss... this unit is quiet, damn quiet. and the sounds are so real... it's amazing... this is by now by far the best line6-pedal i own! very high quality!
and not digital... it let's you sound like in a studio, in a cave, in a bathroom... everything sounds very real and nice. great option is that the reverb-side of the effect has a tone-control for dark or clear reverbs. great.

favorite settings... well all! i don't use echo, got an echo park if i need one which sounds better in this case! opto is very special but nice to have (with a volume pedal your guitar sounds like a synthie swell! but a bit too dramatic for me).
i prefer hall, cave, plate, tile, and the spring-settings.

my H&K tube 50 got a spring reverb onboard, but i can't say which ones nicer...

well - in stereo mode, the verbzilla wins! :-)

a thing i nearly forgot: the unit is stereo and really - it's a real killer there! great pedal!

Very easy. Thre control. The only things you need to look at the manual for are the weird settings like octo and cave and stuff-

Sound Quality : 8
I'm sick of seeing reviews that are all 9's and 10's on HC. Come on people, there's plenty of middle of the road gear, rate accordinly and not right after you got home from GC with it *rant over*

Anyway, this thing sounds really great. I onlu use the '63 spring and plate settings (w/ occasional Octo) and they do the trick very well. Echo setting is pretty useless I should mention. For me anyway, as it's not really echo but a slpaback-y type delay that isn't very musicial.

Overall I was impressed with the warmth of the sound of the reverb, not digital-sounding to my ears, then again I tend to keep it low in the mix.

Reliability : 8
The Tonecore line seems good so far, I have two. It's big and heavy and all, yet the knobs are a bit wobbly and dodgy looking and that kind of bothers me.

I would gig without a backup though, but hey, I have delay on my amp (sucks though)

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them, hope I don't have to-

Overall Rating : 8
Play a lot of classic rock. Was looking for an old school reverb sound and a little surf too. The '63 sppring setting nails that nicely. I'm not a reverb nut by any means and for the price wouldn't expect anything more, although there is plenty more, I just don't choose to take advantage of it-

For being so versatile, this box is truly simple to figure out. It has a series of reverb voicings to select, along with a few basic controls for tweaking the decay time, mix level, and sample length. The manual is well written and extensive. Every voicing has its strengths, and there isn't a truly bad noise in it. I just plug it into my effects-loop and go for it.

Sound Quality : 9
I bought this because the reverb on my Mesa Rect-O-Verb is sadly lacking. This pedal does everything I hoped it would do and more...rather than sounding artifical, as I expected, it truly sounds like a quality, built-in reverb. The spring effects are convincing and very musical...the funkier voicings like "Octo" and "Cave" are also well worth the time to play with. The effect can be made as subtle or extreme as you want, and as a self-confessed reverb junkie I tend to make it fairly extreme.

As I stated above, I keep the pedal plugged into my effects-loop, while I run a compressor and distortion/overdrive between the guitar and the amp. I have absolutely no noise issues, which seems to be a concern with these pedals. It truly makes the amp sound better on nearly every setting. It sounds particularly good for clean guitar sounds, but it also does fine with distortion as long as you don't go overboard.

My favorite sounds come from the spring-setting when I am playing along with other instruments. It sounds natural without being too crazy. When I'm playing the guitar by itself, I will tend to gravitate towards the "chamber" or "cave" settings. I particularly like the chamber setting, because it emulates those great old reverb-chambers that were used in vintage recording studios. I haven't really gotten into the plate voicings, or the "octo" that everybody else likes so much, but its just a matter of preference. The pedal does every voice well.

Reliability : 8
The casing is metal and heavy as all get out. The knobs are plastic, but they dont' come off too terribly flimsy to me...of course, I keep the pedal on top of my amp and never really "stomp" on it. I've had good luck with Line6 products in the past.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never called them.

Overall Rating : 9
I love reverb. My amp's reverb is awful, so I needed outside help. This pedal does everything I wanted and more. It improves the sound of my amp and every one of my guitars...like my compressor, I never have it turned off. I just tweak how much 'verb I want and which voicing I need. As pedals go, if your amp doesn't have its own reverb, this pedal is a must-have. Well worth the price.

Very easy to use. There are a lot of options and each one is very accessible.

Sound Quality : 9
First, almost nothing deserves a 10. Line 6 has pulled a coup here with the octo setting. (U2/Lanois shimmer-type setting) No other pedal can do anything close to it. You've got to get discontinued rack gear like a Digitech IPS33b or get an Eventide.

The reverbs themselves are nice and have an enormous range of options. The best, IMO, are the spring reverbs, the octo (U2/the Edge), and the echo setting with long decay (very Frusciante to me).

Some people have worried about the noise level. I've been plugged into a solid state cheapo practise amp and have had the trails on and trails off: it has made no difference and there has never been any substantial noise.

Reliability : 9
This thing feels like a gold brick. Unfortunately, as everyone else has pointed out, they used weak plastic for the knobs. Just make sure you stomp on the switch and not the knobs.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use em.

Been playing at least 10 years and have experience with lots of pedals; lovetone, boss, electro-harmonix, buddha, etc, etc, etc. The sounds that come from this are far better than average. In the reverb market, you've really only got the E-H Holy Grail and this is probably just as good and is much more versatile.

Bonehead simple to use. Just turn the dial on the verb setting and go with it.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is amazing. I was looking for an analog reverb pedal if such a thing could exist and fell in love with this from the first go. I traded in my holy grail for it and this honestly far exceeds the Boss and other compact pedal reverbs. It doesn't sound tinny nor like a watery mp3. It has a warmth that opens itself up to be pleasant for experimenting with. The only reverb pedal out that I think could outweigh this one would be a T.C. Electronic compact reverb pedal.

Reliability : No Opinion
Honestly, this was the only hindrance to buying the pedal. I know of countless DL4's that have bitten the dust and I've heard of other tonecore pedals that have overheated. I am taking the chance with this thing even though it does look and feel like a tank. I'm sure Line6 would have not put out anything fautly but they just don't have a reputation like Boss does.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt directly with Line6 before.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly alternative, indie rock. I like layering textures of sounds most often with guitar and vocals on phrase samplers (boomerang). This is a great tool for ambient experimentation. It doesn't sound too harsh for the ear and the Octo setting especially is interesting.

As of right now, the pedal is incomparable so I would buy it again if I lost posession of it somehow.

My only qualm is that I wish the pedal had a knob for modulation so that you could tweak it out like you can on the modulation setting (last setting) on the Boss Reverb. Besides that, I can't think of anything else that I could ask for in a reverb pedal besides loaded springs. =)

It definitely helps you make music in the realm of creativity by its ability to create distance and perspective in your sound (like any good reverb would).

I would try out all the different reverb pedals that are out including the marshall one and figure out which one works best for you.

Tone really comes down what you hear so get what you would enjoy hearing.

This pedal is very easy to use. You basically pick which sound your going for and adjust the knobs to taste. I threw some velcro on the back of this pedal and it is now a permanent fixture on my pedalboard. I love this thing.

Sound Quality : 10
First of all I've got to say I've expierenced no noise what so ever with this pedal. It seems with the Tone-Core series its either hit or miss on that end. I've got the adapter but I got it with the pedal free. I'll have to try it with the DC-Brick I have on my board to see if it's still quiet.

For different patches this thing has very convincing models. I mainly got this pedal to get the string pad/shimmer sound from the "Octo" setting ... which by itself is worth the total price of the pedal. I'm really in to U2's sound so this pedal seemed like the best route to go since I don't have the money or space for a rack setup. I've been trying out the "Cave" a bit too. It's good for Coldplay type stuff ie. volume swells/slides.

Just incase anyone wants to know what my rig looks like ... here it is:

Guitars:
Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/GFS Liverpools and Grover Locking Tuners
Gibson SG Special Faded
Squier Affinity Tele Special

Pedalboard (in order):
Korg DT-10 Tuner - Guyatone WR-3 Wah Rocker - MXR Dyna Comp (reissue) - Boss SD-1 (Tone-Jam modded) - Line 6 Verbzilla - Line 6 DL-4 - Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man (Analogman mod)

Amp(s):
Vox Cambridge 30 Twin Reverb (modded)
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (coming soon)

... I plan on purchasing a CIJ Fender Jaguar also.

Reliability : No Opinion
Can't really comment on it right now. Looks sturdy enough ... so we'll see.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Line 6 seems to be notorious for dodging direct questions. I e-mailed them some questions about the bad reviews I read on the DL-4 and they didn't address any of the questions I had. Luckily my DL-4 is fine I've heard horror stories about Line 6 customer support. So no comment.

Overall Rating : 10
I would totally recommend this product. I've tried the Digitech Digiverb and the Boss RV-5 none of them can even touch the sound quality this thing puts out. If it were stolen I would get online and order another one in a heartbeat. I got this one in a trade with the Line 6 powersupply so I got a good deal. If you are looking for the U2 shimmer or just really deep reverb tones check this pedal out it's very good.

It has so much to offer! I have never been happy with reverbs! ive used Boss stuff for years and it always sounded too digital! too clean etc. I love the tone control best :) u can get rid of that clear sound and have a analog/moody type sound :) what is that review going on about on here where everything was given a 1? the guy slags this unit off but doesn't really say why? just saying its rubbish? do you work for another effects company :)

anyway, I have abit of a guitar snob setup but beautiful :) a Tonebone Classic, Tsuami Rocktron Chorus, Boss DD-3, Turbo Rat, plans for a decent phaser are in mind :) and something all guitar players should check out, the mighty Picture Wah! read the reviews on this baby and forget the crybaby! im not bragging, just given fellow guitar players a tip on something they may have not discover yet :) anyway, the verbzilla sounds great with the Wah and ToneBone :)

(I have a USA Small stone! great pedal but rubbish in an effects loop, dont use it because of this and im looking to get a MXR phase 107) anyway! please sort it out!! and replace parts with better quailty!! u missed out on me buying a holy/holier grail, I went with Line 6 who have a solid, good quailty reverb pedal :) its dead silent and does not effect your chain setup in any horrible way :) I did get to hear a unit that cost 1000 pounds!! sounded like ultimate natural reverb heaven but then again! 100 pounds for this is a steal :)

This thing is so easy a bass player can use it. It's easy to dial in a great sound. Not harsh at all. The patches are all user friendly. It has a good variation of reverbs sounds for a pedal and the controls allow you to dial in what you need or are looking for.

It sounds great. I'm a bass player and I use it for soloing and layering. It can produce some great effects with a little experimenting
It also makes a difference in the amp I use. Digital or Tube. What works in one needs adjusting in the other. A little common sense goes a long way.

It's a vital link in my sound and in my effects chain. It's subtle or in your face. Take the time to experiment. I use this with a Ashdown, Genz Benz, and Phil Jones. It sounds great on all of them. But each amp has it's own characteristics so I have to tweak all my pedals.
For the money you can't do better. I also use all EBS bass effects and this compliments them nicely. I've been playing over 30 years so I've heard them all over the years. This is a great pedal for what it is and the cost.
