Ease of Use : 10
The standard compact pedal layout,no problem at all to dial in very usable sounds, easy

Sound Quality : 9
The locoboxes are excellent for cheap thrills in the "kooky, wow thats very original flanger you got there", Ive got a couple of other loco box units, and its always other musicians who ask whats that sound? etc - Its not for everyone I'm sure; but for a lush old school flange Ive found it hard to replace.,.,
I'd give it a nine for personality and a 10 minus one for PRISTINE-NESS, leave that to the megabuck rack units

Reliability : 10
oldest bit of my kit, and still rockn

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to contact them, or return a unit - Ive had quite a few locoboxes and thieyve all been rocksolid.

Overall Rating : 10
If you can get a loco box anything, keep it - theyre brilliant little boxes of fun, good for bass, drums and vox, lush and clear with guitars,

this question should only really apply to rack units, or something with scrolling screens, But this pedal has dials - all clearly labeled and easy to get great useable sounds instantly.
Piece of cake.

Sound Quality : 9
Super lush swoosh and OTT flang through HB and single coils, and through my bass which is always handy. What I do like about the Locobox stuff is theres 80% useable and 20% of its sounds or totally bonkers - Best of both worlds relly.
I really like the Locobox flange, theres an almost Sub sonic Eq thing happening in the low Freqs during the swoosh, very nice indeed.

Reliability : 10
never had a problem and its my age, thats ok reliability by me.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Cant really say, never had any trouble.

Overall Rating : 10
This is the pedal you keep becasue when you want that sound there it is - Im often scouring around to look for more Locobox pedals because theyre cheap and have a cool vibe. Highly enjoyable pedal, not a TONE beast, but a cool vibe pedal.

I used this pedal during the gigs I did when I was in High school in the mid to late 80's. I sold in about 1996?
I bought it second hand because the only other pedals I had were an Arion Tube and Coloursound Wah Wah(Crappest Wah ever).
I used the Flanger until I got a Boss CE2 Chorus pedal in 1990 which is what I was substituting the Flanger for.
The Loco box Flanger was not anything special and because it was an old no-name thing, I sold it for about a tenner. #10=$20.
I also sold the Tube mania for about the same.
I still have the Wah but never use it.
I now use the POD XT-LIVE.

It's fairly simple, four knobs, all of which are self-explanatory and standard Flange parameters (Speed, Depth, Colour and Manual) and easy to see how they affect the sound, and easy to adjust. To be honest, it's an analogue stompbox, not a digital multi-FX, it's easy to use.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using a Tele and a Strat through it and into a variety of amps, mainly a Viper tube/solid-state hybrid, and a box full of other stomp boxes.
It isn't overly noisey on it's own (though with all the others on there is a fair amount of hum from my set-up, so I wouldn't really notice a bit extra), and has a nice analogue sound to it, not too smooth and pristine.
Only thing I don't like so much is that, compared to some other flangers, it's not quite as warm, it's a little harsh-sounding at times, which I don't want all the time. But a bit of corrective EQ can sort that out, plus there are times when the harsh sound is exactly what I'm going for!

Reliability : 10
It hasn't ever broken down in the 5 years I've been using it, and the original owner bought it in the mid 80's I think. Everything is still working fine, from 9V battery or mains adaptor (I'm using a boss PSM-5 to power this and my other effects).
Built like a brick s***-house, it's taken a few knocks and is still going. The knobs come off with a tug, but never under my boot. I would (and do) gig with a backup.

N/A - Second hand.

I play a wide range of music, from full-on white noise stuff to soul and blues covers, and it fits in everything nicely (though in my rock stuff most).
It has a nice variety of effects, from the standard jet-plane type stuff with the "Colour" all the way up to a subtle wash type effect with the "Colour" all the way down.
My personal favourite setting, and one that has had other guitarists asking me how the hell I did it is the old "all knobs to the right". The "Speed" knob goes quite fast and a rapid pulsating effect is obtainable, and sounds really cool before or after the distortion (or both...).
A few people have been asking about it, and offered me about #80 for it, but I wouldn't part with it, and if I saw another one I'd snap it up in case this one got stolen.
I love it.
